He’s cocky, filthy rich, and he might put me out of business. …So why do I still want him so badly?
Patrick: The last thing I needed was a hotshot opening a huge, fancy bar in my small town. On the same street as my own humble bar, Brew for You. But Taran isn’t just a problem for my business--he’s a problem for me. Ever since we met, he just wanted one thing from me: a casual hookup. But I don’t do that. I have a bar to run, a brother to take care of, and a mountain of family debt to pay back.
But then I ended up in Taran’s bed. My bar is in trouble, and meanwhile I’m sleeping with my biggest rival. So why is it hot as fire when we’re together? And why am I starting to think there a sweeter, wounded side of Taran I can’t resist?
Taran: I live, dream, and breathe success. I was already the most popular bar owner in the big city, and now I’m opening a new one in this dinky little nowhere town of Rose Falls.
Easy peasy, right? …or so I thought. Because everything is different in Rose Falls. For the first time in years, I have a crush on a guy. After being hurt too much in the past, I vowed never to be in a serious relationship again. But I’ve never met anyone like Patrick. He sees right through my persona. And God, he’s hot as hell in bed.
But could I really belong with him? Could I belong with anyone, in this tiny town that I can’t help but fall in love with?
Spring for Me is a 68,000-word gay romance about two rivals realizing the scariest thing of all: that they might be perfect for each other. It features plenty of small-town gossip, spring rain & flowers, and steamy scenes in a gazebo. It’s the fourth book set in the small, artsy town of Rose Falls, but can absolutely be read as a standalone novel on its own.
This book took me forever to read because I kept leaving it and coming back. There is nothing particularly bad here but there is nothing particularly good either. It's just whatever.
* I received an ARC copy in exchange for a honest review *
This is another book in Rose Falls series by Raleigh Ruebins but it can be read as a standalone.
This is a story about two guys who are so completely different I was quite sure it would be enemies-to-lovers type of a story. I couldn't be more wrong. Sure, they are rivals in business and Taran's success can be the end of Brew for You but it seemed like the less important thing here. They both succeeded in the end. This book proves that opposites attract - a rich guy from DC who's just bored with his hook-ups (this things about Rolex was seriously pathetic) and so out of place in a small town where everyone knew each other and Patrick - a typical boy next boy, not a fan of one night stands and protective of his brother and bar. Can they be together?
Well, I always say I don't believe in love at first sight but lust is some other story but here I would say we had ATTRACTION at first collision. The chemistry between both MCs was GREAT , they were maybe annoying sometimes with assumptions and misunderstanding but other than that they were likable and I'd like to know more about their life together.
The story is well written, interesting and believable. I can't wait to read more about guys from Rose Falls!
When I read Winter Family, I was looking forward to Patrick's story, since I was interested in his character.
The book was okay, but I have to admit that it bored me. The beginning was still interesting - getting to know Taran and that they were rivals but wanted to be friends, but well... I don't know. I guess I expected more, I'm just not sure more of what.
I guess Raleigh Ruebins is just not for me. I usually like her writing style in the beginning of her books and they always sound interesting, but then they drag on and on and on, the characters get butthurt or whatever little drama is going on, but all in all it's just not all too exciting. Sadly... I'd really like to like her books.
:-) Really lovely story of a brash big city fellow who falls for 🏡Rose Falls and its number one🍺☕ brewmaster! April 9, 2018 Format: Kindle Edition 👍👍 I ended this book with the warm and fuzzies after experiencing passion, romance, disappointment and 💔 heartbreak right along with heroes Patrick and Tarran. I have loved the whole Rose Falls series. It's superbly written, set in a quaint rural New York college town 🏡and offers excellent tales of 👬m/m 💕love and 🔥passion. Each couple's story has been unique and heartwarming.
In this springtime romance, Tarran, a player and the well-known owner of a chain of successful big city 🍸bars, sets his sights on Rose Falls for expanding his empire and finds that the handsome fellow he meets at his new bar's opening night is none other than Patrick, the owner of a nearby local hangout that brews ☕coffee in the daytime and converts to a🍺 bar at night.
Author Raleigh Ruebins adds differing lifestyles and conflicting emotional expectations to their business rivalry and makes a great romance, all while highlighting the beauty of the town in spring and the supportiveness of a small town community. Loved everything and especially Tarran's "road to Damascus" realization that maybe life in a small town has its perks!
I hope that Patrick's brother Owen returns in a sequel and finds his own HEA!
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Plot: 3.5 stars -- I thought there were some interesting possibilities here. I liked Patrick's situation (with his brother), though (as with all of Ruebins' other books) it wasn't fleshed out as fully as it could have been. Certainly the rivalry between Patrick and Taran was intriguing, as well, though again, I felt like Ruebins took the easy way out. Still, it was enjoyable in many ways.
Main Characters: 3.5 stars -- I liked Patrick a lot, and I felt like he was pretty well rounded. Taran wasn't as strong; yes, he was sympathetic, but he kind of just changed one day (as if he just decided he wanted to be different). I didn't see a lot of actual character growth from him, which was a little disappointing.
Smut Level: meh -- too high.
Romance: 4 stars -- this was probably my favorite of this series in some ways. I felt their connection was more realistic than some of the others, and I liked how they interacted with one another. It was still pretty fast (a few weeks) from nothing to "I love you," but I still enjoyed it.
World/Setting: 4 stars -- after 4 books, I'm getting a stronger feel for this world, and I'm liking it more too.
This is a sweet, hot and entertaining book that I really enjoyed. It is well-written and the characters are intriguing. Opposites definitely attract in this story as Patrick and Taran couldn't be more different. Even though Taran's new bar in Rose Falls could be detrimental to Patrick's business he can't help but be attracted to him. Taran doesn't do relationships but he can't seem to convince his heart of that since he met Patrick. There is some family drama with Patrick's brother Owen returning to town to try to get sober. Patrick is also dealing with a loss of revenue in his café/bar because of Taran's new bar. While Taran tries to decide what he wants Patrick has to make some decisions about the future of his business. I wish there was more angst in this story but I love the ending and I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I was given an ARC to review by the author.
Taran has a bad experience in the past with a relationship which turns him into someone no longer interested in same. He's a one night stand kinda guy. He comes to Rose Falls opening Cobalt with the reputation of being a Bachelor.
Patrick has lived in Rose Falls his whole life. He is happy there and worked hard to open his own cafe/bar. He is loved by the town..
Instant sparks when these two meet and Patrick gets to see the "real" Taran in the time they spend together. They are so sweet and hot together. My heart just melted for the two of them.
Of course there are communication issues, family issues, and one person that doesn't do relationships.
I didn't read the 3 books before this one, and you don't have to but I will be going back because what I saw of some of the guys, I want their stories too.
Spring for Me is the latest Rose Falls book by Raleigh Ruebins and it may be my favorite so far. Patrick, the owner of Brew for You, is a familiar character to anyone who’s read the series. He is a genuinely nice guy who cares about his family but lives for work. When he meets Taran, owner of the new upscale bar Cobalt, he thinks they could not be more opposite. As he comes to know Taran, he realizes they are not so different after all. Part of what I enjoyed about this book was Taran’s transformation from city boy to someone who falls in love with the town of Rose Falls. I’ve made a similar journey myself twice now, once after leaving NYC and again after leaving NO. Ruebins did a good job of capturing that transition and made it believable. One other thing I like about their books is the reader is guaranteed a HEA. I wonder if it will be Patrick’s brother Owen’s turn next.
Another beautiful love story in the Rise Falls Series. I love Raleigh Ruebins style of writing and this book didn't let me down, it is a gorgeous contemporary romance (MM) with a great plot, lots of emotion and a few steamy bits. Although it is part of a series you could read it as a standalone, personally I enjoyed that I had already met some of the characters.
This is the story of Patrick and Tarran, one owes a bar the other opening one two doors down. They meet not knowing who the other is and then once they know who the other is they go on trying to ignore the chemistry between them. One is a relationship kind of guy, the other is all about Hookups only. Can their satisfy their desires even with their differences?
I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Patrick runs a coffee shop by day and a bar by night. It’s the town hangout, until Taran opens a new club.
Much as he doesn’t like the competition, Patrick likes Taran a whole lot. For Taran, casual hookups in DC are his usual speed, but he can’t stop wanting Patrick.
The more confused they get, the more things are clearly looking long term for them. Their friends want that, their businesses need that, and they eventually realize it’s their ideal as well.
I like Taran, but he gets better when he slows down. Patrick also steps forward, and is understanding, even when most people wouldn’t be. They both mess up, but figure it out in the end.
This is the forth book in the Rose Falls series but can be read as a standalone. Taran is a rich entrepreneur who opens a new, sleek bar two doors down from Patrick's "mom and pop" cafe/bar. Patrick bumps into Taran when he goes to check out his competition on opening night. Their chemistry is instant and even though Patrick knows that Taran is his rival, he can't help his attraction to him. This book is a low-angst, sexy read which I enjoyed. This book is well written and left me feeling happy.
I really liked Taran and Patrick’s story. It was fast, sweet and totally enjoyable. It was one of those stories that I kept wondering how they were going to end up together and I really liked the way it turned out. The secondary characters were interesting and showcased the type of person Taran and Patrick are. I love stories about small towns, there’s always something that makes it special and Rose Falls is just that. I would recommend this story.
Patrick and Taran were very cute together. I loved the scene at the beginning when Patrick first meets Taran without knowing who he is. I felt that really set the scene for their entire relationship - each of them inadvertently insulting the other and then learning to be more considerate. I loved the cameos of other Rose Falls residents and can't wait to see more from this small town.
I thought this was going to be a lot more hate motivated than it was. Rival bar owners, flashy new guy in town. But because Patrick is such a nice guy, the anger gets washed away by a quick friendship when he sees there’s more to Taran than meets the eye. Patrick wants something real and for the first time in a long time, Taran feels different about this attraction to Patrick. Could he want more too? I’ve enjoyed this series and look forward to Owens book.
Good. Ness. I think this might be the hottest, most emotionally draining story thus far in the series! Opposites really do attract, even when one person is determined to sabotage things before they even get off the ground. This is one of those books where you get to the end and wonder if you need to schedule an emergency dentist appointment. It's just so sickeningly SWEET!
Business rivals and truly opposites (rich, bored guy from DC and your typical small-town boy), this two are really fun to read.
The book is a very sweet romance and very entertaining, too. The differences between the protagonists, the difference in lifestyles and expectations add tension to the story and make the almost 400 pages fly by.
A recommended read for those who love m/m romances :D
Very good read. I loved the pace and the characters in the story. I thought it was well written. Patrick and Taran had great chemistry. They made for a very interesting read. I couldn’t stop reading till the end. I so wanted to see their happy ending. Love the authors books and hope to read more from their book shelf for a long time.
Spring For Me is a great opposites attract story. While on the surface it may look like Patrick and Taran have nothing in common nothing can be further from the truth. When they look below the surface they find more than just a physical connection.
They are sweet and hot together. Learning to trust in each other and what they share. I really enjoyed their journey to their HEA!
I enjoyed reading this sweet story in the Rose Falls series. Taran and Patrick had great chemistry. They had an immediate connection, which confused Taran and his anti-relationship ways. Great characters, good storyline. *I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.*
Taran and Patrick are just sweet and I enjoyed reading their story. Patrick is stressing about Brew for You and his brother. Taran is a one-night kinda guy and not sure what to do about Patrick and the feelings he stirs up. I received a copy for an honest review.
Omg this book was absolutely amazing. This book was a page turner that I just couldn't stop reading until the end. I had absolutely loved reading this book. I would highly recommended this book.
Another good one! Patrick and Taran were opposites and rivals. But when they collided it was hot and they couldn't keep away from each other. Loved how they both evolved and changed their lives for their HEA. Hope we have more to the series.
I was so happy that Patrick got his own story and I really enjoyed it. Seeing an uptight Taran loosen up because of Patrick's influence was the highlight of the story. Now i can't wait to read the next one!
The tears, y'all. The tears! I cried so much toward the end. Just had the wet face and fogged up my glasses. I absolutely love this series and Taren and Patrick just added to the love. Amazing book.
Patrick is the proud owner of a coffee bar and it is his life and doing ok but he owes family money. A new posh bar opens on the same street and Patrick attends the grand opening and meets the owner. A friendship begins despite a rocky start. A nice enjoyable read.
Even though this wasn't as enemies to lovers as I expected, the slow burn between the two was still there, along with some denial to add in that layer of angstiness, and still super enjoyable. Honestly, this series gets better with every book.
