Punjab : The land of opportunities and fervour, has produced not one but countless Sikhs, who have stood tall and upheld the sheer value of Sikhism. KPS Gill was one such paramount figure in the history of Punjab, whose services and valour will forever be remembered not only amongst the Police ranks but beyond.

This book however, gives an insight on Punjab and its journey down the years. The turmoil that the sacred land of Punjab has witnessed, is gory and heart wrenching. From partition to Khalistan militancy, deindustrialisation, drug abuse to the ever so omnipresent political humbugs. The author has hoped for a resurgence of the Sikhs to come out from the sloth and introspect to what is needed to revive the Punjab and it's diminishing Punjabiyat.

The book is hard hitting and at times the Sikhs may find themselves targeted for the mayhem on the land. That'd be a little harsh to pen a view on, but I firmly believe it is a combination of many evils, that has ill fated the fertile land. 🌾

The book is an account of the once prosperous state of Punjab, which gradually became a victim of circumstances encircling the state’s cultural, social, geographical and political aspects. The narrative is about the return of Punjab from destruction during Independence, it’s struggle to stand firm on its feet and how it tumbled badly in the 1980s. Journeying through different locations across the villages of Punjab, sacred city of Amritsar, the royal city of Patiala and the cross-continental locales of Canada, Australia, Nee Zealand, UK and USA, the authors reveal the various facets of Punjab and the varied perspectives.

A work of diligent ‘on-field’ first hand research by the 2nd author and deep insights of a supercop, I would recommend this book to anyone with desire to know of or interest in Punjab and its 20th century history especially after Independence.
