Royally Elected kind of let me dazed and confused. Mostly because this storyline was interesting but kind of felt like a hot mess at the same time. I liked some of the new characters that were in this book but things just weren't adding up.
One, I didn't understand why her family banished her to begin with. The more she remembered about her life was kind of okay but didn't really give me the answers I was hoping for. I just feel like with each chapter and more information I was getting.. nothing was adding up. For example, what the hell is trident douche anyways? Is he like the evil guy in Aladdin, Jafar, who can somehow control people? Yet, he doesn't have a little stick thing but he has his mind? HIS POWERFUL MIND? Yeah, I'm just not buying it. He's something.. something douchey.
Other than that, I'm just confused all around. I'm glad the guys found her and shit/won her back.. but how the hell can this guy mindfuck everyone? Even people he hasn't met? I have endless questions about this douche canoe and now I'm just waiting for him and Justina to die the death that I deserve. I NEED JUSTICE FOR THIS CONFUSION GUYS!
Royally Elected was definitely the most wild in this series so far. We find out that Jolie is not a human and that her father needs her to come back to her land. But things are all great back "home", Jolie is unsure about some of her returned memories, and her father is supposedly sick.
I really liked getting to learn more about Jolie and her real birthright. I loved getting to see another supernatural race and their customs/culture. The guys definitely shined in this one as well. As for Trident Douche, I hate him and he needs to be left in a volcano.
I think my favorite part of this series is the paternal relationships Jolie has with Dan, and even the elf and dragon Kings. But Dan especially, every time he hugs her or welcomes her or calls her daughter, I'm just over here sitting in my feels.
Rep: MC with PTSD and panic attacks, in a polyamorous relationship with 4 non-human men.
CWs: Alcohol consumption, blood, emotional abuse/mind and memory manipulation, kidnapping, mental illness (PTSD/anxiety), misogyny, sexism, sexual content--multiple partners and very graphic, violence, panic/anxiety attack, attempted murder, fatphobia, past mentions of child abuse.
So much happened in this book! We got answers to pretty much all the questions, like what's really going on with Jolie and all about her past. She also made some important decisions that made me happy and we saw old (new to us) friends. I was kind of let down by the mating, because it was such a big point for the first two books and then it was basically glossed over. The fight at the end seemed out of context too, but overall this was the best book of the series so far.
Watch out people. There’s a Deus ex machina at the beginning
The last book ended with a good bow on it. Jo had accepted her four guards as mates and things were looking up. Flash forward to this book where the reader is thrown into the middle of things in a very confusing manner. Emotions are high and non relatable. Add a surprise that feels very forced and the story goes down hill from there.
It seems it really goes better with every new book. Though, in some parts it was reversed. Like being so rushed and full of actions and turns. It remembered me of book one in this regard.
A lot of my issues with the last two books are solved. And some of my presumptions and suspicions were confirmed. So, firstly, Jolie gets all the mating ceremonies with her guys done, that were missed in book two. Though, we only get to see two of the four. The other two are only mentioned.
The start of the book was a little repetitive. Like her keeping a lot to herself. The dream at the beginning and all her inner thoughts about being not good enough. I hope it is now finally over, and book four hasn't much of this.
The nightmare itself seems to be some kind of preview of the last book. A premonition. Or more a warning? But in this part of the series, it doesn't play a big role in the plot.
Furthermore, we get a lot of mysteries solved. Like, Jolie isn't human. Lamar, the dead vampire king, wasn't her real father. We get to know where her origins are, and why she was in the human world in the first place without any memories.
We get a new villain, Brayden, or so-called "Douche Trident". And he really is. Though, he doesn't make sense in the story. He is an idiot, but still that powerful? Yet, he couldn't do it, when he was in Atlantis or at least he could do so much, but it wasn't just explained. I couldn't get it. There isn't a logical reason, why he is able to do, what he did. And furthermore doing it, when he was ten?
I'm glad that my thought was right. Jolie changed her mind and decided to have children. Hopefully, there is a nice epilogue in the end.
Otherwise, I hope the last book will put everything right and explain the new mysteries, I have (like the situation with Austin and her first meeting with him - I think book four will show the story behind that). And I'm looking forward to seeing Justina and Brayden finally defeated. I hope it will be epic. After all that time.
Ugh, I love this series! Especially with the addition of Sirens!!
Anway, so Jolie is now getting trained on using her abilities that she acquired because of her bonds with the four princes. She is now a kickass, badass, supernatural woman. Dragon, Mage, Werewolf, Elf, all in one while being human. But then her biological dad shows up who is the king of the Sirens together with her supposed betrothed. *Gasp* Are we talking about another mate here?! And wait, so Jolie is a Siren?? What?!? This just keeps getting better and better. If you are reeling from all this reveals, don't worry. The book will give you a glimpse of Jolie's childhood and tell you why she forgot all about it. It will also explain why she is so lovable.
So many more revelations were given to us in this book. And I got so many feels with how the alphas love Jolie. One big happy supernatural family, guys. I am getting all warm and fuzzy inside.
This is another exciting installment of this series and I finished it in one reading. This has to be so far my favorite among the three books. Can't wait what for the next one! Am so excited!
I really enjoyed books one and two however this third one was just bringing the crazy to a whole new level. Of course she had to be a princess. Of course, they have to be more to her. Sometimes when storylines get a little too predictable or when you think to yourself “really” maybe it’s time to quit while you’re ahead. However, I will be reading the last book in the series. The storyline was good, don’t get me wrong, but at some parts I was just thinking this sounds so unbelievable. And when I say things like this, I mean in the context of the story that I am reading. I enjoyed the mind games that were being played and the magic that was introduced and the new setting that the story was taking place in. All in all it was a decent third book, but sometimes it just got a little frustrating.
Wow! This book got kind of intense -especially toward the end. But Jolie's relationship and bonds with the guys gets stronger and stronger and she keeps learning and training with the Princes and the Kings. But when her biological father returns and unlocks her memories, her life is completely turned upside down and manipulated from every angle. We meet a whole new crew a of characters in the book...Jolie's father, her childhood friends, her "betrothed" from childhood... AND we find out a big secret that Jolie wasn't even aware of. Jolie went thru a lot in this book and it changed her outlook on a lot of things. Hopefully, that will just make her bonds with the Princes stronger and better. So excited for the next book!!
I really enjoyed the first two books, although MC is a little whinier than I would like. This one was all over the place. It also felt very rushed in spots. The idea of Atlantis could have been cool but MC’s blind trust to people she barely remembered while having severe trust issues with the Mates throughout the series was a character conflict that shouldn’t exist. There were some other areas that felt rushed and incomplete as well. If there’s a 4th book to wrap up Justina and Brayden I guess I’d hope to see more detail and focus. The nightmares/premonitions that rocked the beginning of the book were completely lose to the Segway to Atlantis. Overall I’m fairly disappointed in this one.
Don't get out off by the 3 start this one was a good book and kept me on my toes.
However, for me I wanted to see a lot more interactions with Jolie and her men ... There were big sections that they were missing due to Jolie being taken away to Atlantis and Braydon brain washing / mind control thing which I get needed to happen but just didn't appeal to my tastes at this d rage in the story...
In addition you only read two of the mating bonds would've loved to have read all four.
The bits that did stick out for me which I loved, were the bits in Dragons Den at the beginning, very much made me appreciate Rhys even more... especially when he stood up to his mother. the council electing and supporting Jolie's vision for a combined school and the sections later on with Deryn.

This was fantastic, I love how the characters are continuously evolving and the new characters and powers and shifting forms. It's just great, I started out not really liking this series and by the second chapter of book two I was in love with it. I'm just falling deeper with each book. The story just gets better and better as well as the relationships between the characters. I love how the writing has evolved as well, the story getting more complex and the twists and turns throughout. This is a great series and this was the best book so far! Can't wait to grab book four!
As per the other books, this is very fast paced and the newer characters does not have much in depth development. It still gets the job done in conveying the story though.
Not sure how I feel about a new villain being added to the story without resolution to the other one. I get that it’s probably a plot for something bigger, but still. Also, it was kind of starting to get annoying with the FMCS back and forth of being not worthy but selfish enough to take the men as her own anyway.
Except for an hour nap, I spent the last 17 hrs binging the entire series. Yes, there are elements to the story I wish I got to find out about more like another review mentions but that is completely besides the point.
I started reading the first book when my migraine hit, and this series kept me laughing so much that I read straight through the entire series despite my throbbing head and skipping sleep.
If you want a paranormal romance with a happily ever after and a bunch of humor -- then this is the story for you.
4.5 stars for Royally Elected by Catherine Banks. This is book three in the Her Royal Harem series. Just as Jolie and her guys are settling in, Jolie’s past is reviled. Trident Douche and her dad King of Atlantis take her back to Atlantis. Not all is as it seems there. Jolie is showing how truly bada** she is. You will get to learn about Jolie’s childhood and why she doesn’t remember it. The revelations had me gasping. I love where this story is heading. The new characters are great. Loved getting to know people from Jolie’s past. Can’t wait to see what book four has in store for us.
I don’t know what’s happening I had such high hopes for this series, yes we finally got to find out why everyone seems to fall in love with her and found out the truth about her family…. But the storyline was just kinda boring ya again another challenge to become her mate ( don’t even get me started on that it only took 2.5 books!) The “bad” guys/girls always seem to get away which should be impossible if she and her 4 mates are actually as strong as they sound! It’s just getting a little frustrating.
This book i enjoyed while a lot of her history was answered, some were still unanswered like her anger spurts, and the mating seemed like a big part and was brushed over. I do enjoy her father and the other alphas i hope the next book will explain where her two enemies are hiding.
Marked down a star because of continuity errors. Is Leona a male or female? How old is Jolie? I had the impression she was 24 then suddenly she's been away from her father for 20 years and she was 7 when she left. I'm sure at 1 point Sam said 23 years!
Aside from that I liked it. The final battle was jarring. Suddenly a switch flipped and she was attacking them

Amazing amazing amazing amazing amazing!!!! Twists!! Nothing but twists and turns in this book. Lotta whaaaaa?! Moments. Definitely sent me for a loop. This is by far my favorite book as far as action as action packed. Book 2 in the HRH for gut wrenching crying which I also love. Both are great books!
There was still some more of Jolie putting herself down but at least there was a huge twist with the siren's showing up. It was really out of the blue and wasn't a smooth transition for me.
There was another rough transition where everything was fun and good when BAM she's about to kill people. Still, it was an enjoyable story.
I feel like this book was shorter than the rest however, it was interesting because it was nothing like the other ones. It was so cool seeing Atlantis and everything they had to go in with that. I am happy that she will actually have a father that truly cares about her. I love seeing her friends from her old life I would like to see more of a Atlanteans in the next book
The story in this one was my favorite up untill this point. Although i was a bit dissapointed to see her reverse her wish to stay child free but i expected that. The mary Sue ness is getting more and more obviouse. The mc is verry verry special. Im reaching the point of finding this serie hilariously bad. I do need to admit that there are some amazing scènes here and there.

So many questions answered, so many plot twists, so much love. I flipped through so many emotions reading this and can honestly say that all of the characters surpassed my expectations. It was nice to see everyone knowing they needed each other to succeed.
This took her journey in a completely different direction. I love how this story is developing and seeing Jolie grow with her group and all of her friends around her. I can't wait to read the next book!
This is a fantastic Rh series. I love the characters and their personalities. The plot thickens and has enough twists and turns so that you are never bored. One of the best RH series that I have read.
I am sad. I know I am coming to the end of the series and the story keeps getting better but WHY when you are hooked on a great series does it have end? Great series, great author.
Wow! Twists and turns aplenty and new truths come to light, this series is just so good and I am absolutely hooked. Jolie and her men have some of their toughest problems and dramas to solve and I am Absolutely loving it!
I did not see that coming. Not only are there dragons, werwolves, elves, mages, etc. there are now Sirens! Where did that come from? That was a major plot twist, with no hints! It made for a very intense story. I had so many questions by the end of this book and I cannot wait until book 4!
Ohhhhh these books are fab- my housework isnt getting done because i cannot put them down!!! Waiting for the downfall of the enemies i think ill be relishing that!!
The first few chapters made ne want to punch her but then. She got over herself and became the awesome chick I knew she was and I was very very happy and then my final battle was super Duper Duper cool though very scary
