Stumbling blindly through too many ups and downs wasn’t how Rosie was hoping her life would turn out.
With her sight still gone, it becomes harder and harder to find her way. Still, she’s determined to heal as many cursed citizens as she can find, restoring their lives to them at much painful cost to her. While Dub remains firm that Rosie will remain blind until Kerdik obeys him, her plans for Avalon’s redemption never waver. It isn’t until the other two Brothers of Destruction surface that she realizes her best efforts might not be enough.
"Blind Girl" is book nine of a 14-part fantasy romance series.
USA Today bestselling author Mary E. Twomey lives in Michigan with her three adorable children. She enjoys reading, writing, vegetarian cooking, and telling her children fantastic stories about wombats.
While she loves writing fantasy, dystopian, and paranormal tales for her readers, Mary also writes romance under the name Tuesday Embers.
I found by the time I got to this book, the story seemed to be losing steam and was more involved with introducing new characters and opening up them up to the story to be main participants.
I'm still loving this and can't wait for the next book!
Faîte Falling is an 11-Part Urban Fantasy Series based in French Folklore.
Here is Just a Tantalizing Taste of this Tumultuous Tale:
“Bastien, it’s good to have you back in Avalon. We’ve sorely needed you, brother.” I could hear them shaking hands, and smiled at the sweetness of my husband being spoken to with such respect. “I hope it’s alright that we stay here for a while. We needed a safe place to crash.” Rigby spoke up from his spot near the wall. I remember him taking that position when the up and ups were in a room, He wanted to be nearby in case anyone needed anything. “I’ve had your room made up for you and the king, my queen.” I grinned at the news, rising up on my toes. “Lot, did you get married? Who’s the new queen?” Lot paused, as if I’d said something funny. “Um, you are. Rigby was talking about you. Morgan le Fae’s old room is the largest one in the palace, so that’s where you’ll sleep.” “Oh, uh, Rigs? Not to be a huge pain, but I don’t think I should share a bedroom with Lot. Any old room is fine with me.” Rigby was patient, and never spoke to me like I was a dummy. “I was referring to you and King Bastien, your majesty. Morgan’s old room is yours. There’ve been fresh sheets put on the bed, and everything’s been cleaned and ironed for you.” Despite the craziness of the day, I barked out a laugh. “King Bastien? That’s awesome!” I clapped and hooted at my husband, who I knew was cringing. I barely remembered that my new title was Queen Rosie, and that, duh, whoever I married would be king by default. Judging from Bastien’s chagrin, I guessed he was also just putting that together. “Knock it off, Ro. Seriously don’t call me that. Just Bastien is fine, Rigby. I’m not a king.” Lot was firm to cover over Rigby’s sputtering. “You’ll answer to King Bastien, because that’s who you are. You’ve married Rosie, correct.” “Yeah, but…” “Then that makes you a king in Avalon. There’s King Urien, because he married Morgan le Fae, and then you, for marrying the Avalon Rose. Morgan le Fae was the oldest Daughter of Avalon, which made her queen. Now that her heir has taken the throne, you’ll rule by her side. This is nothing new, Bastien.” “Okay, let’s not get carried away,” Bastien insisted, clearly uncomfortable. “You’re the duke, and I’m the Untouchable. Let’s just leave it at that.” “No, Kerdik and Lot said together. Kerdik’s voice held no room for arguments. “Avalon’s seen too many faulty rulers. You’re one they already respect and look up to. If Avalon’s going to make it through this, they need to be able to trust their leaders. They revere the Untouchables.” Bastien was palpably uncomfortable, shifting from side to side. “Aw, man! Avalon’s already got a king.” “Yes, and now we’ve got a spare.” (pp. 22-23).
Book nine begins with a trip from Common back to Avalon; Rosie continuing to utilize her indubitable internal inner strength and spirit to help the Avalonians. Filled with dramatic action, great continued world-building, and developing characters with connected inter-dependent relationships. Yes, quirky characters with bits of comedic scenes continue to break-up the dangerous dramatic moments.
Just what havoc has been wrought upon Avalon by unleashing the dark magic? Is Rosie the key to calming the chaos? Will King Bastien and Queen Rosie rule Avalon in peace?
Eternally, I will not disclose ANY spoilers, Dear Reader as I wish for you to savor the Continuing Journey of a new heroine: Ms. Rosie Avalon.
I gave this book five (5) stars as I Indisputably Relished this Fantastical French Fable and I ardently advise You, Dearest Reader to buy this new series.
No one knew what to expect when the old magic was released onto Avalon. But when the vampires, weres and other terrible things that go bump in the night become too much for even Kerdik to handle you know there must be some other nefarious hand at play. In walks the “Masters of All Things”. Kerdik is no stranger to them, but not even he can save the land he hopes to make a home with Rosie as well as his bride. And when Bastien keeps making mistakes with Rosie’s care in Kerdik’s eyes he does the only thing that he thinks is best for her. He swoops her away. But Rosie’s stubborn streak, I innate need to help and of course the need for her husband’s blood just makes everything worse.
I so love this series. I feel so connected to Rosie. She is such a wonderful person with an open heart and yet she is regularly facing pain and danger. I have so much respect for how she handles it all without becoming bitter.
This series is so engrossing and you find yourself wanting more as soon as you are done. The author knows how to engage all your emotions. It has become such an incredibly intimate journey for her and for me.
There are always more surprises and lots of adventure in each book. I highly recommend you check out this series.
I binged through book 6 - 9 and forgot to review them all because I just continued on to the next… These books have me in a serious chokehold. I’m constantly unaware of wtaf will happen next, the roller coaster of emotions and plot twists this series has is INSANE! I’m obsessed. It did take 7 books for her to actually bang my dude Bastien though, and even though I knew this was a YA series, I was still disappointed there wasn’t as much detail (I obviously read too many spicy books 😂). Only 5 more to go and maybe I’ll get my life back.
.. gotta love those end of the book review requests!
Yes, the book is well written, loads of goodness mixed with all flavors of emotions, but it's those end of the book 'threats' which have me stumped. Like, there are 14 books now.. I'm so far behind that my comments aren't going to help save the day! Should I be worried that Link isn't the focus anymore...?? Ohh.. the questions!
Poor Rosie is still blind, but that isn't stopping her from helping people and doing all that she can. Her husband Bastian, bless his heart, is also doing the best he can for her even when others don't see it that way. We still get tons of humor and unexpected occurrences that makes this series heart pounding and addicting! Can't wait for book 10!
Getting the feeling I’m paying for chapters of a book rather than the whole thing. This is not a book rather a continuation of the last... and finishes off halfway through the story so books 8,9 and 10 should in my view only be released as one book.
