Dirty Angels MC #6

Down & Dirty: Slade

Rate this book
Welcome to Shadow Valley where the Dirty Angels MC rules. Get ready to get Down & Dirty because this is Slade’s story…

He thought he liked easy. Until she showed him easy was boring.

Right out of the Marines, Slade’s first mistake was patching into a club that was headed down a destructive path. His second was rolling into Shadow Valley on a search for answers. He had no plans to patch into another club, even one like the DAMC, and he certainly wasn’t looking for an ol’ lady. Especially a ball-buster like Diamond, who could singe the hair off a brother’s nuts with just a look.

DAMC born and bred, Diamond was ready to give up on becoming an ol’ lady until the heavily tattooed biker rolled into town on his Harley. Problem is, months later Slade’s still a mystery. He never talks about himself or his past, and Diamond wants answers. But she's not quite ready for what’s uncovered: secrets that could very well implode the club. It doesn’t just bring Slade’s loyalty into question, but forces Diamond to make a choice she doesn’t want to make. A choice that affects not only Slade, but the whole MC.

Note: This book can be read as a standalone. It includes lots of steamy scenes, biker slang, cursing, some violence and, of course, an HEA. If you like alpha males who like to take charge, this book is for you.

I loved this story Diamond and Slade omg. These two will keep you on your toes.
Diamond has always wanted to be an old lady. She grew up in the club and she started to think she would never find that man since she practically grew up with most of the members until this talk, dark and handsome biker walked through the doors.

Slade did allow Diamond to ride on the back of his bike for outings, but things changed once he found out 1. Diamond was crazy and 2. She wants to be an old lady, and Slade wants no attachments. You see he is on a mission to find something or someone and he won't stop until he finds answers.

Diamond and him have a love, hate relationship and Diamond does not hold back. When these two do get together their relationship is explosive until Diamond finds out about who he really is. Will they ever have a relationship and reading this story we see that Diamond will do anything for her club and she not as tough as she seems. And Slade is just looking for somewhere to belong.

Will Slade find what he is looking for and will Diamond get her happily ever after with the one man she does want.

There are some crazy, heartbreaking, earth shattering reveals in this book.
Very intense read. I enjoyed every second of this one. Not a dull moment. I love Slade. He and Diamond 💎 are a perfect combo. And the circumstances and truths surrounding their union are frightening. Jacked. Their road could have easily taken a detour and I would've understood why. It would have hurt, but I would get it. Glad it went another way though..

As always the secondary plots and reveals are what keeps this series on point for me.
But it always makes the icing on this cake sweeter when you love the MCs of the story and their plight. Collectively as well as individually. And this book has that in spades.

Thus far my faves in this series are Jag, Hawk, and Slade's story

Based on books 1-6 I would definitely recommend this series.

Just when I think I have a favorite I listen to the next in the series and I am blown away all over again.
Slade and Diamond have been two characters I have wanted to get an HEA for a while.
Diamond, her name suits her because she seems like she is kind of cold-hearted, bitchy if you will but that never really bothered me in fact, I loved that about her.
Slade always seemed kind of aloof, and about the sweet butts. We didn’t really get much backstory from him until now and what we do learn made me love his character that much more.

The banter is fantastic; they eye each other like the other one is made of the finest chocolate. Yet Slade holds her at arm’s length until he doesn’t then look out your ears will be on FIRE, in the most delicious of ways!

I love the birthday scene; it is probably my favorite scene in this book. Oh, how the Alpha males become possessive I love it.
The twist you never see coming will blow your mind, I won’t give you more than that. I just loved it.
Also, the friendship between Crow and Di is one of my favorite relationships in this whole series and I can’t wait to see Crow get his HEA.

The Narration. OH MY GOD, Ava, girl your man voice sweet baby Jesus you gave me shivers.
Aaron is one of my favorite male narrators so I was excited to listen, but an MC book... YES, PLEASE can we have more Aaron as a Motorcycle club man PLEASEEEEE.

Couldn’t give more than 2 stars for this

SPOILERS

1. I didn’t like the H - he acted like a douche in Bella’s book, flirting and asking her to go up to his room, AFTER he spent a summer hanging out with Diamond (they didn’t sleep together) and then decided to stay away from her because he couldn’t handle her.

2. I was disappointed with the way the author wrote Diamond as a character - especially if you read the later books in the series and find out what happened to her. (Diamond was raped as a teen by one of the older club members.) Rather than have her chase him, why didn’t the author build on Di’s strong personality and have her move on? Let him go, focus on her life, date another man, see a therapist, invest in herself... hell, anything and anyone but chase a douche-bag that ‘dated’ you for a couple of months and dumped you, tried to flirt and ask out your friend / club sister (Bella) and slept with others after he was with you. And I didn’t understand Diamond’s loyalty to the club. The members make fun of her, avoid her as much as possible and don’t even speak to her with much respect, except for her brother, Crow, Ace and the old ladies. She didn’t even like going to the clubhouse - so why the loyalty? It just didn’t make sense. She was sporty, we know she worked at a gym so she did have the means to carve another life for herself. And I say this as a survivor as well - a woman can always do better. Always.

3. There was no grovel, no effort by Slade for Diamond. She chased him and he fell into bed with her.

I guess I’n spoilt by how the author wrote the other main male characters, heroines and their plotlines - Hawk, Zak, Dawg, heck even Diesel. Slade was just an arsehole.

Diamond and Slade made a great couple. She's strong, independent and takes no crap off any of the men. Slade has never had a real home. Abandoned as a child, he's on a quest to find his father and wonders if there will ever be anyone who wants to love and keep him. He's hot, alpha and starts off thinking he doesn't ever want to be tied down to one person. I loved the way the author plotted the action making me keep wondering what was Slade's real purpose in Shadow Valley. Was he loyal or not to the MC? A really good love story with two characters who have to work to make their relationship be what he should. No cheating and a HEA. I really like this series. Each book gets better .

Slade has always been a bit of a dark horse since he showed up. I liked how Diamond instantly was smitten with him. It even seemed like something might have started there, but with this book Slade was more pulling back, not sure if he even wanted to be part of the DAMC. It didn't help that Diesel was still giving him the side eye.

I liked that Diamond played the long game with Slade, that when he started making demands of her she made them back at him. Things were going really good between them until Diesel stuck his fat head in. With what he learned it made sense, but it still bothered me, probably because of the spiral it left Slade in.

There was a lot going on towards the end, good, bad and horrible. I'm glad that it all came out. Slade and Diamond needed to know, the others do to, I hope that they tell everyone. I'm glad that these 2 are in a good place by the end of the book, both deserve the happiness they found.

The twists! OMG! JSJ has done it again. I totally did not see that big plot twist coming, but boy oh boy am I excited for Crow's book, holy moly.

The previous books painted Diamond as this colossal bitch so I was glad she got her own story and we were able to see a softer and more genuine side to her, as well as uncover WHY she's got such a chip on her shoulder.

Slade is the perfect man for Diamond. He doesn't take her crap, dishes it right back, but he's also willing to put in the work to get her because he sees that's she more than just a piece of ass.

The run-in with the Warriors was a nice change of pace from where we've seen several of the heroines get kidnapped.

Another home run from JSJ. I'd dare say this might be one of my favourite books in the series so far. 10 stars!!!

I love this series by jeanne st james
Slade and Diamonds story revealed alot of secrets inregards to the fued between the Warriors and the DAMC.

its amazing how sins of the past can come back and rear its ugly head yet falls at the feet of innocent people who had nothing to do with what went on some what thirty years ago but being blood karma doesnt discriminate it comes back and kicks your ass till you loose your breath and you feel like you need to claw the air to get it back in your lungs again.

Slade came to shallow valley looking for answer's. he joined the DAMC where he found a brotherhood a family something he never had before. Diamond a spitfire a beautiful spitfire who could singe the hair off your butt with a tongue lashing that rended her as a bitch in the club the daughter of Rocky who is currently doing life behind bars for murder. little did she know that the sins of the father would end up on her door step and change her world forever. Slade and Diamond i think made a great pair once Slade got his head out of his butt and realised that underneath all the sass Diamond was a diamond in the rough having been raised by a single mum yet protected by her mc and cousins all Diamond wanted was to settle down become an old lady and live her life for her man and club Slade didnt want commitment didnt want a ball and chain but at the end of the day couldnt get Diamond off his mind.

when they finally give in to one another it sets a series of events from the past to the present and secrets will be revealed.

im looking forward to reading the next book in the series just when you think you've got a handle on the truth turns out all you have is more questions your left thinking oh crap didnt see that one coming . lol patiently waiting for the next installment to see what happens next.

Another good one.
Diamond is known as the bitch of the DAMC. She won't just yell at someone but she will screech at them over anything. Every little thing pisses her off and nobody except her sister's in the club likes her. Her father is doing life in prison for killing a member of the Warriors who are their enemies so she grew up without a father and her mother has been sad since he got locked up when Diamond was a little thing. All Diamond has ever wanted was to be an old lady but most of the men are either family or feels like family so she has given up until a new man that is also sexy hot patches in but he is now steering clear of her.
Slade is an ex Marine and has been hiding a secret since he showed up. Don't know why since he doesn't know the whole story but some of the brothers don't seem to trust him. He never planned to patch in but he did and even got his back tattoo but he's starting to regret it. He is on a mission and is ready to get going. Not spoiling it by saying what either. He was hanging with Diamond at first but knows what she wants and don't want the same thing so he has been avoiding her. That is until her birthday and the women are on lock down and can't go celebrate so another of the women suggest bring in male strippers for the party. After she tells him she plans on sleeping with at least one of the strippers and he sees they are interested in her.... it's on!!
Will tell you if you have read the previous books and think you know why the club has such a big problem with the Warriors then you don't know the whole story but you will after this book.

I really like this series, but this is not my favorite guy. I had a hard time with Slade in the beginning. His attitude towards women was horrible. I also got tired of hearing about Diamond's attitude but didn't really see any of it in this story. About half way, I started to care more for the couple and enjoyed the rest of the book. While I may not have loved the couple, I loved the story and the twists...and I really really need Crow's book!

I loved this book. It has been crazy watching Diamond be too much for most men to handle, until Slade. He's not looking for a woman and had decided Diamond was too much trouble, until she decided sex for her 30th birthday was her present to herself..... bring on the male strippers.

It was exciting to watch Slade get his head on straight. There was some action, some twists, turns and lots of steam.

I love this series.

The heroes are always kind of terrible in a gross way in the beginning so if you don't like reading the hero banged someone other than the heroine before they bang then this isn't the series for you. They're literally all gross whores. But! The heroines aren't angels either... No in the slightest. These chicks have been ridden more than a classic Harley but I digress.

Ive read MC books where the characters are super cotton candy and it's like um... But... That's not really the vibe I expect? Like um, these are Bikers not accountants.

Dawg's book is next - the infamous strip club owner. We can all guess where that one's going but... I'm excited anyway lol

Another Disappointment

1. Diesel needs to go...why anyone listens to him is beyond me...due to him over reacting, main couple splits

2. Getting tired of the barbaric treatment of women in these books. Why is Jewel allowing this behaviorto continue...HELLO, can someone remind the author it's almost 2020. I personally would have kicked his ass by now

This book had such good potential if the story played out without Diesel meddling...too bad.

Getting to the point of DNFing this series at this point due to one character mostly.

5 LOVE IT/FAVORITE Star Kindle Unlimited Read

"Who the hell was excited when they turned thirty? Not her. Di was not looking forward to her thirtieth birthday. No way, no how. Thirty and still single. Thirty and still not an ol’ lady. Thirty and still didn’t have anyone in her bed on a regular basis. Thirty and her steady boyfriend took batteries. And a lot of them."

Di is really in her feels. Everyone around her is getting matched up. Her issue is that the guys she surrounded herself with all feel like brothers to her, except Slade. It appears that Slade can't handle a real woman.

"He glanced over his shoulder at her. Now that he was upright he realized how much she looked like Diamond. But in a more “ridden hard and put away wet” type of way."

Slade may have some major commitment issues and doesn't want an ol' lady. Yet, he keeps getting tangled up with women that remind him of Diane.

“You like easy. I’m a ballbuster, remember?” “Don’t always like it easy, princess, sometimes I like a little fight in my f*ck.”

Slade has been going for the easy. Now his eyes are starting to open. He's seeing Do as a woman. A woman that won't stand for his sh*t.

“Just a strong woman not takin’ sh*t from anyone. Got a f*ckin’ flame inside you that burns bright. I see it now.”

"Every time she became agreeable, he wondered what was going through her head, how she was scheming. Diamond was not the easiest woman to deal with. Not even close. So her being so agreeable made him suspicious."

Being agreeable is one thing. Being afraid to lose what you have been looking for your entire life is another. Why rock the boat.

"And she felt it creeping in. Every morning that feeling got stronger as she studied him, even though she knew she shouldn’t let it, that falling for him might come back to bite her in the ass. But no matter what she told herself, it kept creeping. Not like an avalanche but more like lava flowing from a volcano."

And it official, Do has lost herself to Slade. She is tits over a**.

“So, are you really going to claim me?” “Yeah, babe, gonna claim you.” “So... does that mean...” she whispered. He should be panicked right now, ready to roll out of her bed, out of her place. But he wasn’t. An amazing sense of calm came over him instead. “Yeah, babe, it does.” A slow smile crossed her face. “I love you, too, Slade.”

And they lived in biker heavenly after.

Smoking hot! Need a cigarette after reading!

For adults only (18+ years old) Contains some situations that may be triggers for some (high level listed below)

I am so loving this series! If you love MC stories, or rough around the edges dominant males and spirited, fiesty females, with combustable intimate scenes, then I highly recommend this series. While there is enough information to read each novel as a standalone, it would be more engaging and satisfying if read in order.

This is the story of Slade and Diamond. Slade joined the Dirty Angels MC a few books ago. He had belonged to a MC previously and didn't like the direction they started going, so he bought his way out, and started traveling. When he came to Shadow Valley and got a beer in the Iron Horse bar he didn't think it would lead to him staying, but Zak invited him to hang around at the clubhouse. Then when he attended one of the charity events thrown by the club, he protected and assisted some of the women when they were attacked again by the Shadow Warriors, and was patched into the club.

Diamond was raised by the club, along with her brother and sister, after her father (Rocky) was sent to prison for murdering two Shadow Warriors when they killed his father (one of the club founders) and a couple of others. She is a spirited b(%#h on wheels and longs to be an ole lady like her mother and some of the other club sisters. Unfortunately, since she was raised with so many of the current club brothers, they feel like a brother to her, so she pretty much gives up the idea of it happening. Plus she is so spirited that she most of the club brothers wouldn't go there even if attracted. Then Slade arrives and wow is the chemistry between the two of them out of bounds, but no one knows anything about him, and it seems as if he may not stick around even though he took on their colors.

This story contains adult language throughout, detailed steamy intimate scenes, and violence (i.e. kidnapping, assault, rape and murder). If any of these are triggers, or offensive to you, then this may not be the book or series for you.

I have been waiting for Slade's story and found this just so satisfying! Slade and Diamond have been circling each other for a while, and now after watching Diamond at her birthday party, Slade finally gives in and gives her his present! These two both are strong willed and full of attitude. Diamond can be harsh at times, but Slade has found a way to tame her and these two have found their way. I have to say, I was looking forward to this book because I was unsure of Slade. He has been a wild card in my mind, showing up as he did, coming to the aid of the women and being patched so quickly, my hope was he was a good man. Diamond, as true to her name, is hard and sometimes cold and biting, but she has a warm heart and her loyalty and love run deep. This combination makes for a hot and volatile couple and I loved every minute of their banter and passion. The best part for me about this series, besides the great characters is the underlying stories. This one has a twist in it that surprised me and made me wonder how it would play out! The suspense, the anguish and realization of what life has dealt is Slade and the Club is captivating, keeping me on the edge to see the outcome. While Slade may not be my favorite hero of the Dirty Angels, I think this couple together may be! They are so well matched it makes you love them all the more.

Jeanne St James is so particular about picking her narrators for this series, and I am so happy she is. Each one is specific to the role and this one could not have been more perfect. Aaron Shedlock as Slade is amazing. His narration is so natural, and gives Slade that edge so you know when he speaks, you know he means what he says. The alpha sound is slightly growlie, but he also brings that emotional side in when needed and your heart melts. Ava Lucas is nothing short of incredible. Her sultry voice and spunky attitude is Diamond. No other could bring the women of this MC to life like she does, you can tell she knows each character and with each inflection and voice creates the most intricate cast for us to follow. I love this team!

Slade has always been searching for something, searching for a home. He stumbled upon Shadow Valley and the Dirty Angels MC and stepped in when a situation went sideways. Because of that he got patched into the club immediately, no prospecting for him. He hung out with the MC princess Diamond a bit but then gave her the cold shoulder. When he sees she is about to celebrate her birthday in a spectacular way with two strippers, he can't stand it anymore. He convinces her to come to his room and he will give her a present she has been hoping to get; him. Diamond was hurt when Slade just stopped hanging with her a while back with no explanation. Faced with getting into bed with him, she can't pass it up. But when the night is over, Slade kicks her out. Diamond has a rep in the club for being, lets say difficult to deal with. But Slade's attitude really hurt. Slade soon regrets how he left things and realizes he wants more. But will the past come calling and yank the possibilities out from under them?

I have been a fan of the Down and Dirty series from the beginning. Zak from that first book will always have my heart. Slade on the other hand made me want to put a boot somewhere uncomfortable for about a third of the book. He is so scared and has one foot out the door before he even realizes that Diamond is not how she appears. When the situation goes sideways and they finally see each other again, I was so thrilled that they stuck together. They learned from the past and became a really strong couple. Jeanne St James is phenomenal at making a bunch of alpha men unique and lovable in their own particular ways. It makes it so enjoyable to get to know each couple but still check in with couples from the previous books. The ending of Slade's book is hilarious and made me that much more anxious for Dawg's book. But true confession, the book I cannot wait for is Crow's! 5 stars for Down and Dirty Slade!

Slade was everything that I thought he was going to be. I was excited to read his story and was completely satisfied. I have been reading the Dirty Angels MC from the very beginning and was always curious about Slade. The way that he was introduced to me as a reader and then become a part of the club always had my mind going. Was he as great as he seemed? Did he have something he was hiding? All my questions were answered and more in this story. I still don’t know how I feel about the ending, but I know that I have more respect and heart for Slade then I did before. He stole this story for me and I could not put it down because I needed to know everything about him and his past.

On the on the other hand (and I am being completely honest here), I never liked Diamond. She was so harsh and angry and I could never connect with her. In this story (her story) I still did not care for her until the very end. She just didn’t work for me and as I read the story I was a bit disappointed in Slade for picking her. Once the answers to my questions and concerns started to reveal themselves I started to respect her more and in the end I did like her. She is still not my favorite, but I think that she is perfect for Slade and if he loves her then I can accept her, LOL.

With all of that being said, it is a wonderful story and while it is complete, it leaves A LOT of questions that still needed to be answered, just for a different MC brother. I know I am going to have to wait for his story, and I will re-read this one before that one when it is released. I highly recommend this story to those readers who are following these men and their MC. I loved every word. I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review.

Slade (Down & Dirty #6) de Jeanne Saint James

What is to be said about this sixth book of the Dirty Angels MC series? It is one emotional, raw, explosive, page-turning read! It can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the prior books. Slade and Diamond are perfect for each other although they have a few hurdles to get through. Slade is not looking for an old lady and the last person he would ever consider is Diamond because of her no holds barred personality that sometimes has her acting like a shrew. By comparison, all Diamond wants is to be a biker’s old lady. However, she would never consider any of the existing brothers and has hopes that something could happen with Slade. These two act like two animals stalking one another and it is only a matter of time before one launches first. Yet when they finally do get together, on Diamond’s thirtieth birthday, all bets are off and the game has changed. Things are going well until Diesel throws a wrench in the mix as he has encountered some news with regards to Slade’s past that affects not just the MC but Diamond personally as well. How will Slade deal with learning the truth of his past? Will Diamond get to be an old lady or will she lose her chance? I love Ms. St. James’ authentic and real writing style depicting the true to life experiences of a MC. This book is full of drama, steamy and explicit scenes, and twists and turns that will have you gasping for breath. I cannot wait for what this author will be writing next in this series.
I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

I believe Jeanne loves to torture us but in a fantastic way. Slade and Diamond there or no words for them to. Diamond is crazy as hell but her heart is pure gold. She has always wanted to be a old lady but the guys in the club are like brothers to her and to her that's just wrong on all levels. She knows in her heart she will find her man but at what cost. Now sexy as all get out and cut from a different cloth of all alpha Caveman Slade. He is looking for answers about what happened to is dad when he walked into the club he was not expecting his world to be turned upside down with Diamond. The two have this crazy relationship at the beginning Slade is fine with her being around for a little while until he moves on. Diamond that doesn't fly to well with her she is not giving up her chance at being a old lady. I think she gets turned on by Slade going caveman on her when he sees other guys touching her. But then stuff starts to hit the fan they are side by side Diamond maybe crazy but she is tougher than she looks and Slade is sweet and when he realizes that he loves her that's it for him. Now there are a few secrets that they uncover and it will shock the crap out of you and the way it's uncovered you will not have guests that in a million years. I don't know what Jeanne has for us in the next book since she love to slow kills us by making us wait but I know it will be so worth the wait.

OMG! I freakin' love this series!! It just keeps getting better and better with every story. The men of the Dirty Angels MC are amazing. Just when you think you've found your favorite DAMC alpha male, you read another story, learn a little more about another Dirty Angel, and realize it's really hard to pick a favorite. You want them all! At least that's how it is for me when I finish another new one. Slade's story was no different.

What do you get when you have a woman who wants nothing more than to be an ol' lady and a biker who doesn't want one of his own? You'll have to read this one to find out, but I'll tell ya, the chemistry between Diamond and Slade is explosive! They are perfect for each other and have an undeniable attraction. However, when secrets are revealed (and I mean, "oh s***!" secrets), will Diamond and Slade's growing relationship survive?

The Dirty Angels MC series books can all be read as standalones. However, I would recommend reading them in order. It helps with understanding timeline and references to events that occur in previous books. Plus, once you read one, especially if you like MC romance (or even if you don't), I think you'll want to read them all anyway. So, I suggest starting with book one. You won't be disappointed.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*

Slade is a man on a mission. He hadn't intended to stay in Shadow Valley or join DAMC but things happened and he was made a patched member without having to prospect. His last club had been going down a dark path so he left and he likes that DAMC is trying hard to be mostly legit, it's just dealing with a rival gang that has threatened them, shot up their club, raped one of their women, and kidnapped a couple more, that has them crossing lines sometimes. Slade is almost an alcoholic in this book, with all the times he is with found passed out drunk at the strip club and all the references to how this is not at all an unusual occurrence.
Diamond is another of those raging bitch MC women. I find no fault with this. If I had to grow up with, and then spend my adult life around, men like Diesel I'd be a raging bitch too. Diamond wants to be an old lady. It's the life she knows & she likes it. She spent some time with Slade months ago but it was platonic and he brushed her off. They finally come together but during that time Diamond realizes just how little anyone knows about Slade & it sets off warning bells so she asks the club enforcer to investigate.
What he discovers destroys their relationship, sends Slade off into danger, drags the past into the present and forces the whole club to make some hard choices.
Wonderful entry into this series.

I LOVE ED IT!!!

Brilliant doesn't cut it I freaking loved it!!!!!

I still find Diesel to be my favorite but this is definitely a close second, I absolutely loved every moment of it.

The twists the turns the on the edge of your seat action packed alphaness of the story as a whole. I want more.

I so loved Slade he was a complete idiot that just screams love me and my dickheadedness. I loved that he was matched with Diamond the ball buster in the group and the perfect compliment to Slade's personality and alphaness.
Diamond is one cool chick she's the one that wants the romance the most but has yet to have found it, the hardest diamond's are usually the brightest to sparkle. I loved her bitchy ways.

Story as a whole has some amazing revelations especially the last one (Sorry not giving it up).

I'm really impressed that Jeanne St James' writing style it just seems to get better and better with each book, I love when a writer evolves and I get to witness it through their books.

All up incredibly amazingly perfect story that I cannot wait to read again in the future. I cannot wait for Dawg's book next his character is a bit of a mystery and I cannot wait to figure him out.

AND Oh my I so want to read Crows book now!!!

I voluntarily received an arc copy of this story from the author for my honest review.
