Angler Boxset One

Rate this book
This volume contains the first three novels of the ANGLER series.

Book 1: VAMPIRE BAIT
Live bait makes all the difference.
That’s what I was told when the slayers hired me. Vampire bait has short-life expectancy though. I don’t care. I hadn’t anything to live for. The least I could do was help mankind in my self-destructive spiral.
That is until I meet him.
My team suspects the vampire Overlord of Budapest of killing humans. They send me in to do my job and I do it too well. He finds me all right.
And he decides to keep me.
I want to escape, but I’m thrown into middle of the Vampire Nation with a sexy as sin overlord as my guide, and he doesn’t know I’m the enemy. He offers protection, but I soon find out its my heart that's in danger because I’m falling for Rurik, and he's got a secret of his own.

Book 2: VAMPIRE CATCH
Something is wrong with me.
Being a blood slave to a vampire is the most binding commitment in the world. More than marriage since divorce isn’t an option. Rurik and I are bound together by blood.
Except I shouldn’t be craving his blood like I am, and I can’t get enough. It’s driving me mad.
Desperate, Rurik takes me to Rio, seeking the vampire king’s help. To say Tane isn’t happy to see me is putting it mildly. What’s worst? It turns out my blood craze is because I’m not Rurik’s blood slave. I’m bound to Tane. He stole the bond from us and now I belong to him.
Forever.
I can’t even kill him because if I do, I’ll die too. I hate him.

Book 3: VAMPIRE RELEASE
How far will you go to save the one you love?
Living well together for nearly two years, the lovers find themselves in turmoil when Rurik begins to convert, transforming from vampire into Nosferatu in front of the clan's very eyes.
Accusing Tane of making the transition without proper protocol and permission, the clan threatens to destroy the three of them.
Barely escaping and searching for sanctuary, Rurik's deterioration accelerates.
It's up to Tane and Connie to find a remedy before certain death sets in.
Many don't survive the change, and they can't bear to lose him.
But breaking the rules and sacrificing themselves may be the only answer to saving the man they love.
Will their love take it too far, putting all of their lives in danger?

Run, Rabbit, run!

I LOVE this box set! The three major novels of the Angler series - Bait, Catch, and Release tell the story of Connie Bence - widow, recovering alcoholic, slightly psionically gifted vampire bait. It is literally her job to offer herself to vampires who've been targeted by her team of Slayers, setting them upper their downfall, and risking her life in the process. Statistically, the lives of vampire bait are short and their ends are violent - and Connie- the Rabbit - is well aware of the fact. So what leads a healthy, pretty young woman to choose that path? The story, like the heroine herself, is complex, mesmerizing, ingenious, at times poignant, and always full of surprises. Annie Nicholas' does a superb job of creating and populating the supernatural underworld with memorable heroes, formidable villains (sometimes the same character fills both roles!), and a cast of believably realized supporting characters, human and otherwise. I can't say enough good things about her world-building, her characterization, or the hidden humanity she reveals in her people, living and un-dead. The three novels could each stand alone, but together they are a seamless experience of terror, triumph, suffering and salvation, and the ultimate forgiving, restorative power of love.

Vampires and Slayers.

Connie is a member of a vampire slayer gang in New York. She acts as their bait to pull the vampire in and get them to a prearranged site where the slayers will stake them. This is not a safe job but, since she lost the love of her life to illness, she doesn’t care if she lives or dies! Not a good place to be. The slayers have recently been asked to take out a vampire in Budapest and Connie has been searching the nightclub scene for him with no success. In fact her target, Ruric, has noticed her and makes his move when she falls practically in front of him. Connie tries to take him to the rendezvous but finds that Ruric does things his way and, from then on, the story takes a totally unscheduled turn! Connie soon finds that two things have happened; she is out of her depth and falling for Ruric. To complicate matters further Tane comes onto the scene and she has feelings for them both! There is a lot of action and erotic sex in this story so be aware. Be warned, once you get involved with Connie, Ruric and Tane you become addicted!

A little darker

This series is a little darker than I'm used to by this author. That being said, it was pretty good. There were some pretty big surprises in the last two books. There were also plenty of steamy scenes. Connie, Ruric, and Tane really grew on me.
