My name is Franchesca, and according to a centuries old prophecy, I am the Golden Queen that is destined to unite the Fey Kingdoms. My entire life has been planned out for me, from the clothes I wear, to who I shall marry. This girl has a heart and a mind of her own. No one will tell me what to do. Not my parents, some old prophecy, or even a sexy Renegade leader. If all that were not enough, now I am dealing with a crazy uncle, an impending betrothal, kidnappings, and fated mates. Just another day in the life of a Princess. *This is a RH and book 2 in a 4 book series*

Another stunning book in the Chess Chronicles series. This time, our heroine Franchecsa has been kidnapped by the Renegades and is being held by their charismatic leader, Rook. He is determined to show her exactly what is going on in her kingdom; to make her see just how the Inferiors suffer.

Franchecsa, far from being afraid for her safety, feels a kinship to her people and is keen to learn all she can. During her time in the Renegades camp, she gets a better hold on her new-found powers, learns of a secret plot against her kingdom and discovers she has another Fated mate. This woman is one hell of a kickass character.

The writing style and pace from the authors is great; explaining in detail so vivid, I can see the Light and Dark Fey kingdoms in my mind. However, they don't waste words and over-elaborate either, which I love.

There are twists and turns along the way, surprises that you don't see coming and another cliffhanger ending which had me shouting at my Kindle! Again! My heart can't take this and I await book three even more impatiently than I did book two. Bravo.

Why do you insist on stomping on my heart and just leaving it a pummeled mess on the ground?

In this book, we follow Franchesca being "abducted" by Rook.
Learning more about her kingdom.
And trying to end a war before all chaos breaks loose.

I just really have no words to express my heartache right now.
I was so engrossed in this book that I didn't really write any notes to put in this review.
What are words?

If you've read the first book, you have a general idea of what to expect from this book.

It is told from multiple points of view.
I love getting to see inside everyone's heads during pivotal moments.
While some of these chapters are short, they convey information that is necessary to see from the other side.

Did not see the twist coming of Rook's mother.
*silently allows tears to stream down face*
I can't even go into this right now.

And finally, the end.
The end where the authors just ripped my heart from my chest, looked at it on the ground, shrugged their shoulders, and turned away.
They don't care about the immense amount of pain they caused me by leaving it that way.
I hate cliffhangers!
They are the bane of my existence and cause way too much emotional turmoil.

I hope you like this review and go read the book.
It is honestly a fantastic read and you will not be disappointed when reading it.
These guys know what they are doing.

Rook picks up where Knight leaves off, Shelby is being rescued and Franchesca gets taken. By the sexy alpha Rook. I wont give any of the plot away, but I will say that their chemistry is just as hot and instant as in Knight for their brief moment. Rook did not only take her to show her their side of the story, but because he feels a connection with Franchesca he cannot explain. We learn more about the prophecy, and that she will have more than 2 mates. Not much progress happens with Franchesca and Winston, although they share an intense scene at the end. Franchesca and her knight are right where they should be, even though there was a slight bump in the road. Rook, I have to say I really enjoy him, is a alpha who takes what he wants. He takes charge and has a playful side. The sex scenes are just the right amount of descriptive, and there is one in particular that was freaking hot!!! Franchesca's best friends are so fun, love Colton and Shelby. There is a chapter that had me cracking up constantly. Freaking had me rolling. By the end of the book you will be hating Armand just as much as I am. I will tell you that there is a huge cliffhanger that will leave you saying noooooooooo!!! And you will be screaming just like I did about needing book three now. Overall, Rook brings us more action, love scenes, humor and awesomeness, so don't miss out on book two of the Chess Chronicles!!

4.5 Stars for 2nd book in the Chess Chronicles!

I absolutely loved this sequel to Knight by Riley Walker! I totally fell for Rook and Hawkeye and was more intrigued by Winston (already loved Knight haha). I cannot wait to see what happens in Book 3, hopefully we don't have to wait too much longer...yes I know Book 2 just came out but I devoured it and NEED MORE! Can't wait for Rook to let down more of his walls, for Hawkeye to get more spotlight, and for Winston to finally show how much he cares for Chess and loves her.

I thought Riley Walker did a better in this book providing more character depth and relationship growing between all the characters. Loved the comedic relief with Shelby and Colton! I was heartbroken when something happened to my favorite character, but I can see where it helped bring the group closer together (but I still got teary eyed!). I couldn't give this book 100% a 5 star because as new authors, the dynamic duo of Riley Walker still have some room to grow and really expand on some scenes and work on their transitions. As I said, this book was much better than Knight in that regards, which is why I bumped it up in rating. Definitely give this series a chance, you will fall for them just as much as I have ❤️

Sorry I’m not going to give away any spoilers or I’m going to try not to that is.
Omg I don’t have the right words to describe this book other than it is a freaking amazing book!
So many twists and turns so many surprises are in this book. I went through so many emotions that I couldn’t keep track. I laughed, I got angry which I might have even yelled at some point and I even cried at one scene because the authors just had to kill off one of my favorite characters which wasn’t very nice of them at all! And that cliffhanger oh man that made me growl because it was building itself up again and all of sudden I was left hanging on the edge waiting for the climax which didn’t happen and now I have to wait until the next book to see what happens to Frannie and the boys!!
But other than that I loved the book just like I loved Knight.
So yes I most definitely recommend this book for anyone who’s looking for a fantastic story to get completely lost in! But first I recommend you read Knight first if you haven’t already so you don’t get confused as to who is who and what is what!
Five ⭐️’s worthy most definitely!

Riley Walker have done it again

Riley Walker smashed it.
Rook is book 2 in the Chess Chronicles and I can't get enough Francesca the main character was kidnapped at the end of book 1 by the renegade Roo k and book2 continues with her journey she has a lot to deal with this time round dated mates an arranged marriage to a jerk prophecies not renegade men and her family's expectations. Francesca is a perfect character she's determined independent feisty loyal but she still has this vulnerability that makes you love her all the more. This book has some hilarious scenes that will literally make you love out loud and some scenes that will have you grabbing your tissues so be prepared this Book will definitely make you feel. Brilliant writing exceptional characters killer story line this has it all. Pick up your copy today you will not be disappointed. Riley Walker is an exceptional writer and I can't wait for more.

This book's writing has improved from the first book, but I still feel like I'm just brushing the surface and doing little skips like the flat rocks you throw over water. If I had to choose between the characters Knight and Rook, it'd be Rook, and I think at least half of that reason is because of how good the sex scenes were compared to everything else. They felt the most detailed and as a reader, I really felt the difference when things shifted back and forth between them getting it on and- well, everything else. Since it is the second book, though, and this is a debut series for Walker, I'm starting to get a sense of the fast-paced writing style.

Overall, I thought it was a little wobbly with the pacing between the sex and non-sex scenes, I had a hard time clicking with the characters, and it's getting harder to find Frannie endearing.

Fucking hell, I love this series. Hands down, one of the best series that I've picked up this year. The only bad thing I can say about this, is that the story isn't finished and getting into my grabby hands fast enough.

The story picks up right where Knight left off, you get to see some of the action from different points of view, including our boy Rook. The action is fast paced, and the sexy fun times are super *le sigh*

One thing that always had me grinning, was the Penguin Ass Slaps... In my head, I always see Robin Williams Ramon from Happy Feet every time I read flipper smacking to ass. LOL

I can't wait for the continuation, as I'm very interested in seeing some more Winnie time. He's an interesting complex character that I can't wait to discover what makes him tick... I need some book 3 now!

Better Than Book One..
In my review of the first book I stated that I would like to see more description and detail and the authors delivered in book two. I in no way believe my review had anything to do with this, it's just a happy coincidence! Rook is even better than Knight delivering on more character development, more scene details and more emotion. I even teared up a couple of time. I ended up staying up way too late reading this book and sacrificed my precious sleep because I just couldn't put it down. I'm very excited and looking forward to the continuation of the story in the next book.

I was so excited to read this book and it did not dissapoint! Riley Walker's debut novel, Knight, was very intriguing and I loved the world she created. Rook picks up where Knight left off and gave us insight into the kidnapping and the Resistance group. We also learn more about the antagonist which was insightful. I fell more in love with all the characters we were introduced to in Knight and my heart broke at one point. I liked that we saw more character development in this book too.
The author's craft showed improvement from book 1 to 2 and I expect we will see even more growth with book 3.

Who doesn't want to be stolen by a bad boy?
and Rook is a bad boy to proper Knight. Both are needed by Franchesca.
And there is the matter of war, wellfare of common people and unity of both Fey Kingdoms.
Aaaannndd let's not forget about one Fey Prince, whom Chess can't decide - love him or hate him.
Let's find out in third book, maybe?

As second book in Chess Chronicles, Rook is better. You can see progress which authors a making in world building, plotting, character development. Even that cliffhanger is almost easy to forgive.

Still love Shelby the most.

Wow what an phenomenal read and second book to this series! I swear this series keeps getting better and better and I absolutely could not put this book down til the very end. You get sucked into the story line and characters we get to learn more about Rook and is he really what people believe about him or not, we get to learn more about this world and the twists and turns, you may need some tissues on this journey but this book does not disappoint! So can’t wait for the next book, one of my top favorite series! Fantastic job!

Amazing. I’d give it more than five stars if I could. A riveting tale of a princess and the men who are her destiny. The men of this story are all so heroic and noble in their own ways. They are devoted to their princess and to making the kingdom better. One evil man will betray many and destroy so much. The story will leave you smiling and crying. I just can’t get enough and so need book three now.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

My heart...it is broken. The only way to mend it is book 3. In Rook, we continue the journey of Chess as she is kidnapped. Riley Walker takes you further into this world and the background stories as the characters develop and grow. The descriptions are beautifully depicted with such grace. The characters are feisty, witty, and capture your heart. This story kidnaps your emotions and there is no getting away as you devour page after page.

Rook is the second book in the Chess Chronicle series. The debut book was good and this was a fantastic continuous. I love Rook as a character. There is so much more I want to say but also don’t want to spoil it. The heat definitely turned up in this book and I hope they just get hotter. I think I know who is in her harem but also wondering if there will be any surprise members. Super excited for the next book to come out.

Great continuation!

Why do they have to play with my emotions?! In this second installment of the Fated Mates series, we get to know Rook. I don't want to give any spoilers, but I can say the heat is UP. I found myself in need of a cold drink while reading this--could have used a cold shower too.

The authors do a great job of moving the story forward, and we get to really see Chess grow.

Well written! Bring on book 3!

Part 2 of the Chess Chronicles, and the 2nd outing for the writing team of Riley Walker is another home run. We are transported back to the land of the Fey where Francesca has just been abducted by Rook. Being held captive turns out to not be all that bad—really, it’s not torture; especially when your kidnapper is one of your chosen mates. The evolution of Francesca continues throughout this book. Expect some surprises, and in true Riley Walker fashion, some heart breaks and a few penguins.

What an amazing book!!! I couldn't put it down. I love Francesca. She is an amazing character. She has alot to learn about her kingdom and is just learning about the prophecy. Shelby and Colton are lots of fun to read about. They help keep Francesca grounded. I can't believe the ending!! Impatiently waiting for the next book.

I am not going to give away any of the plot, because I don't think I will do it justice. The authors did such a masterful job of continuing this story. I loved the multiple viewpoints throughout. It really enhanced the story line, and kept me begging for more.
Once again, I was enthralled from the very first page. I was totally engrossed, and I am anxious to find out what is next in store.

This was book 2 in an RH series. And it did not dissapoint. I had a feeling Rook was going to be one of my favorite characters, and this book totally made him that. I love it! I love how everyone is working together now. I want to know who else she will mate too! The only thing that sucked was it ended on a cliff hanger!! Ahh I wI'll be anxiously waitting for book 3!

This book did not disappoint! It was just as good as the first one. I couldn’t put it down. I love how you got to see everything throw Rooks eyes and feel for him and his people. Why he’s doing what he’s doing. Also you get more info on the rest of the storyline. But part of it does break your heart. Yes I cried. But I’m ready for book 3!

Amazing amazing amazing! I can't get over how great this series is. It literally grabs me from the first words and holds on until the end. I loved the alternating POVs with all the feels. The way this series is written is incredible. I can empathize with each character and get into their lives, homes, and hearts. Warning! Extreme cliffhanger and the next book isn't out yet!!!! Exceptional read.

Absolutely Awesome. Never thought Rook would be better than Knight but Riley Walker keeps surprising me. The plot thickens and I can't wait to see who her other fated mates will be. How many before the prophecy is fulfilled? An absolutely MUST READ!!

Book 2 did not disappoint!! I was captivated by the first book, Knight. The second in the series, Rook, continued the story with a great mixture of excitement, steaminess and heartache. I went through every emotion possible with this book. It was a great read. I can't wait for book 3.

Loved book 2!! I can't believe Rook and Edrik actually get along and their childhood friendship would come in handy. I have to know... will Hawkeye also be joining her harem? That cliffhanger at the end though is gut wrenching!!! Why?!?!
