“GIRL, write YOUR book dammit. Who cares what people think? If writers in the past cared what other people thought we'd still be glossing over 'inappropriate' kissing scenes. Break the fucking rules. Push yourself to the edge. Show the world what YOU can do. This is YOUR book. YOUR blood and guts. AND, don't you EVER, EVER, write one single line for SOMEONE ELSE.” ― Madeline Sheehan
Creeks Bend is a dark and disturbing murder mystery blended perfectly with a sweet romance. The story starts with a murder and the bodies pile up steadily from there. The murders are gruesome and the descriptions are chilling and graphic. The story does slow down at times, but those times give more insight into the interesting characters, so it's never boring. On the romance side, we have Deklan, out of town detective called in to help with the case, and B&B owner, Elle. They're both interesting characters and the chemistry between them is so good, giving us some hope in the middle of the investigation. All combined, we have a budding romance, an obsessed ex, a medical examiner that is a bit of an odd duck, a hilarious parrot, and a killer who is as twisted as twisted gets. And Alora Kate brings it all together wonderfully.
I’m questioning myself as to why it’s taken me so long to read Alora Kate! My usual reads are contemporary romance but something about this one pulled me in and I knew I had to read it. And I’m so glad I did I absolutely loved it. Alora Kate knows how to pull you into the story and takes you on the twist and turns to find out who the murderer is. And the fact that there was still a love story thrown in just made it even better! I loved how Elle constantly rambled and Deklan was just the perfect man. This author has found her self a new fan and I’ve already bought another of her books to start.
This is the very first book that I have read by Alora.I absolutely fell in love with her writing with this book. She has gained a fan and I cant wait to read more. Front from the start this book has you on the edge of your seat. There is tons of suspense with this story line. Many different twists and turns. You dont see what happens happening by any means. Deklan is sent up to Crook County to investigate a body that was found. But that is just the beginning for this detective. He meets a certain woman that will end up changing his life and has to deal with an ex that just wont let go while trying to save this town. I absolutely loved this book. It was a great first read for me from this author. Again she has gained a fan with this one. Cant wait to read more.I highly recommend reading this one if you are in to twists and turns and suspense.
Alora Kate did a great job with this disturbing story, she hooked me from the beginning with the warning and didn’t disappoint. Just as I expected it is detailed and graphic, with an intriguing storyline, the characters are well developed, with great chemistry. It’s frightening to say but she transported me to the small, friendly, and now terrifying town. Although it is slow in parts, I enjoyed having the downtime, getting to know the characters as I gathered my own list of suspects.
Deklan is only in town for a short time investigating a murder, he’s sweet, playful, flirty, and I loved his character. His story is a bit sad but, he’s moving on and Creeks Bend has a lot of opportunity for that, including Elle. She is helpful and friendly, she grew up here. Elle successfully runs a bar in town and of course, the hotel Deklan is temporarily living in. It’s funny how she gets so embarrassed and worried about the small town gossip when everyone just wants the best for her. Including her good friend Mason, who I had some trouble trusting. He was nice and a great friend to her, but it took me a bit to warm up to him as he’s a bit odd. Oh, I can’t forget Lulu, she is so much fun and a great addition to the story.
I look forward to reading more by Alora Kate. It just hit me that I don’t know if there will be any more stories about the small town of Creeks Bend but, I’d like that. Maybe Mason’s story, please?
This is the first book by this author I have read. I signed up for a ARC because I had seen it on Facebook and I love a good murder mystery. We are thrown right into the story, with the first murder having already occurred. Detective O'Brady is sent to find the killer and to escape his ex wife for a bit. But 1 murder turns into 2, 2 turns into 3 and they keep pilling up. O'Brady is in over his head, he can't find the killer so he calls in the FBI. But when there isn't any evidence left there isn't a lot to go on. But the killer has to be someone local because they know the town and are familiar with the creek. I really enjoyed this story. Like I said before I love a good murder mystery trying to figure out who did it. This story kept me guessing until the end. The person I thought it was, wasn't it. But I wasn't far off either. They had a close relationship to the killer. I was a nit disappointed there was a romance element to the story. I got bored of it and I had to skip it to get back to the murders. But no because the scenes were boring or written badly, just because I wanted more information about the killings and to find out what would happen next. I'm interested to see what else the author writes.
If you’re looking for suspense-this book is a must read! This is the first book I have read by this author, And I have to admit I absolutely loved it. The blurb alone is so enticing, but the story-god, you won’t be able to put it down! There’s a lot of components to this book-and I loved how all the puzzle pieces fit together in the end-it was so satisfying. I loved Elle. She was the epitome of hardworking single female living in a small town. She was independent, relatable, and surely not expecting to find herself in love with a man that is readjusting to single life. When Decklan is sent to a small town to investigate a murder, he’s immediately smitten with the bartender/inn keeper where he’s staying. With several dangerous situations arising, we can’t forget the red hot chemistry Decklan and Elle have for each other. Throw in a quirky medical examiner (please let us have his book next!) a scorned ex, and more murders, and you have the perfect recipe for an amazing read!
I came across Alora Kate a couple of years ago when I saw an ad for her books because the cover was changing. I LOVE original covers and had to have them. That's all it took to start by love affair with her writing.
I've read the last five or so books by Alora Kate and each time I become completely immersed in the picture she paints through her words.
Creek's Bend was a mystery and a half with an extra dose of steamy and a side of holy cow!
The story of a serial killer in this little town was intense and unpredictable.
The characters were prominent and well-known, no matter how big their role was in the story,
The writing flowed smoothly and with ease.
If you're looking for a little mystery and romance then this is a great one to go with!
An intriguing book for sure.... Deklan is sent to a small town to investigate a murder because they were not equipped to handle such a horrible crime.... After all murders don't happen in small towns. Elle is the owner of the local B&B where he ends up staying., and they find a spark between them, but do not want to act on it due to the fact he will be returning to his home after all is said and done. I loved when we first met Mason...he is the quirky coroner and I couldn't help but love him. The bodies start stacking up and Deklan is no closer than he was at the start. A good mystery... but pay attention...there are couple subtle hints as to whom the killer is!!
I was anxiously awaiting this story from Alora and she definitely delivered! The cover is amazing and the story is even better. It's been a while since I've read a mystery thriller romance and I enjoyed every single page. I was hooked and had a hard time putting it down to adult. She kept you guessing with a storyline that pulls you into Deklan's world. It's graphic, it's suspenseful, it's captivating. The characters, in true Alora Kate fashion, come to life and you feel as if you're there living through it with them. I am so glad Alora went with Creeks Bend. She never ceases to amaze me! I highly recommend this story!
I really enjoyed this book. I love a book that keeps me on the edge of my seat and trying to guess who the killer is. I mean who doesn't love a good murder mystery? Every time I thought for sure I had it all figured out something else would happen and prove me wrong. I never did figure it out till the very end. Which is amazing, I love a book that keeps me guessing. I wasn't far off in my guesses as who it was. But I never seen it being that person. The steamy scenes were a amazing and a great addition to this story. This was my first book from this author and I am looking forward to reading more. This is a must read everyone. I recommend this to any one that like a good murder mystery
A quiet town is turned upside down when a Killer leaves bodies in a favorite location. A detective trying to adjust to single life meets a bartender who captures his attention. Can their blooming relationship withstand the evil that has invade her town..an evil beyond anything imagined. Life can be cruel at times - but also in that cruelty - love can bloom sometimes.
There’s not a better book to pick up on this Friday the 13th, than Alora Kate’s newest release, and her 13th book, Creeks Bend. This psychological thriller will get you blood pumping. A who dun it that will keep you turning pages only to find out she had you going one way, while happily preparing to blow you a big raspberry and pull the rug out from under all your detective skills!
Creeks bend has a serial killer...the question is who? The author takes you on a creepy yet thrilling journey of a detective trying to solve the small town murders. Everyone who knows me knows I love mystery thriller books and this author just made my list of favorites in this genre. I hope she writes more like this.

This book was an awesome mystery thrill ride. It kept me guessing the whole way through. The characters were so relatable. And the storyline was quick paced and flowed so smoothly I was at the end of the book before I realized o had devoured it all. My first book by Alora Kate and I definitely need more!
I've read a few books by this author and I knew this was going to be good just by going from what I have read in the past . The characters and story line is equally lovable and I hope to see more from them in the future.
Loved it, Creeks Bend has just the right mixture of blood, edginess and romantic scenery. This is the first book I have read by Author Alora Kate, but definitely won't be the last. P.S. The eye-grabbing cover fits the story, perfectly.
Got me I picked the wrong person as the murderer. I loved this book it has murder, sketchy characters, love and an ex that dozen`t way to be an ex. Really good story line with some edge of your seat moments. Highly recommend.
Creeks Bend is a intriquing, and suspenseful story. This author knows how to draw the reader in from the very first page, and keep you engaged till the end. The story was well written, and the twists and turns will keep you guessing till the end. The characters were developed and likeable. Really liked this one.
I am not normally a "thriller/suspense" kinda girl... When Alora mentioned in a group that she was working on one of these types of books... I was nervous but anxious to see what she could do since I am in LOVE with multiple books. I will not include any spoilers but... WOW! From the moment I picked up the book to the moment I put it down... I was drawn like a moth to the flame! I honestly can say this book will be on my shelf and in my hands multiple times. I have already read it twice! <3 Characters are on point! Felt like I was playing CLUE! Loved it!
I've read multiple books by Alora Kate and I've always enjoyed them; however this is the first mystery/horror one I've read by her. I don't know even know for sure what genre this book is listed under but it is pretty graphic so that's why I say "horror". I was actually a little nervous when I first started reading it because I wasn't sure if I could handle it, but I have to say it's probably my favorite by her so far! I was presently surprised!
Creeks Bend is my favorite Alora Kate book to date, and boy, her talent shined brightly through the pages of this exciting read! It takes place in Creeks Bend where a vicious killer is on the loose, which is what brings Declan, to this small town to help catch them. While on the case, he's finding that this killer is very careful, and leaves no clues as to who they are, which is stumping them all & becoming extremely frustrating. So on his very little down time, he spends it at the B & B/Bar that he stays at, and the owner, Elle, has piqued his interest. And that in itself is a miracle, as he's just out of a painful divorce, and never thought he would be interested in anyone again. But with the psychopath that he's chasing killing women, will he catch them before Elle is caught in the cross fire? This story had me on the edge of my seat with heart racing cover to cover, as Ms. Kate's descriptive genius had fear lodged in my throat, like I was there in person. Which means that the twists & turns were around every corner to have f-bombs dropping in every direction as well. I fell in love with Declan & Elle, as their lighthearted banter was the sunlight in the midst of the darkness, not to mention, the very colorful cast of secondaries like Mason & LuLu, added some humor into the mix. I couldn't get enough of this absolutely awesome thriller, and can also add thank you for that epilogue at the ending as well, because it was fantastic at the end of the day! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
