The one night of the year, young professionals gather for the biggest party in the country hosted by the wealthy corporate business owners. A night filled with decadence and a terrifying secret hidden from all who attend.
Laura meets a mysterious stranger, who will entice her and begin a night that will change the lives of at least one, and for some there’s no going back.
Hell has been summoned, but what they recieve is beyond expectations or imagining.
G M Sherwin was born and raised in a small village in West Yorkshire and still lives in the north of England with his wife, 3 children and 2 cats, It was while at school that he penned his first short story which gave him a taste for writing.
And it was a love of the Albert Einstein quote, ‘there comes a point in your life when you have to stop reading other people books and write your own’ which spurred him on to write his first book Immortalis.
When he isn’t working G M Sherwin enjoys spending time with his young family. And if he gets any time to himself he likes to relax with a good book and a glass of red wine. He is also a passionate film buff and loves anything out of the normal, the paranormal or sci-fi related.
A really short but entertaining story. Laura gets invited to a party, but it turns out to be something unexpected. That isn't the biggest surprise of the night.
Merged review:
Pretty good short story
Well written tale that won't get take too much of your time, amd has a fun little twist at the end.
I really enjoyed Ascension, as I've enjoyed others from Mr. Sherman. I highly recommend this fantastically creepy short read. Its not too long, but he hits ALL the points of a FANTASTIC read & you'll be sure to enjoy it! :)
Very well written, great twists and turns, good detail for a short tale ,i wasn't left trying to figure out who was who,you knew! I can't say too much about the story i am afraid i may give something away ,so i will say ,grat read ,well worth your time and money,,....
I wish it had been longer lol, it's very short. It did hold my interest, I was just trying to figure out what it was about, so I started to read a lil bit of it. Got me hooked, then ended lol. Guess I'll have to read the next one.
A man and a woman meet at a wild party held in a big old house with a dark past. They circle each other like sharks all the while under the gaze of a creepy old man who has a creepy old plan...
I'm sorry, I just couldn't like this one. The hopping from viewpoints didn't make for a comfortable reading experience, and the gruesomeness towards the end was a bit more than I expected. The character's actions and revelations developed a bit too quickly and so the horror setup felt a bit flat. Nice twist, but everything could have been fleshed out a little more.
This wasn't for me. There was as much sex/sexual content as there was horror and I didn't particularly care for that. The dialog was a little formal at times. I wouldn't say it was badly written, but it didn't do anything for me either.
It was a captivating short story which held my attention from start to finish. I love the writing style and could have definitely carried on reading more
Just finished. Makes me want to read more. Short stories are like that. Leave you wanting more. Not really a short story reader just for that reason. Always leaving me wanting. Good read. Will def be continuing with the series. Good short story though.
