When I lost my 16-year-old son, Quin, to a misdiagnosed illness, I was devastated. When I learned that his life-threatening illness HAD BEEN correctly diagnosed and went untreated by medical doctors, I was beside myself. My search to find purpose in Quin's death took me through dark and treacherous waters of gross negligence reports and medical lawsuits. This book chronicles my experiences and details the insights I gained into the unforgiving organization of the American healthcare system. In telling my story, I hope to help others struggling to navigate the uncharted waters to find direction to become champions and advocates for quality care. Throughout my journey to find answers, I found peace and unexpected forgiveness. My family and I have created a lasting legacy to honor Quin through The Quin Murphy Foundation. Our hope is to inspire young men and women to transform the healthcare system and prevent tragic deaths like Quin's from ever happening again.
Brian Murphy is a Baby Boomer advocate and the founder and editor of BONZA (Baby Boomers of NZ and Australia) a Baby Boomer information website: www.bonza.com.au
He strongly believes that governments and industries are failing to adequately address the needs of the Boomer generation and the impact their impending retirement from the workforce will have on the economy and society by not having mature age policies. Since 1998 he has addressed these issues with thousands of Baby Boomers across New Zealand through his organisation, Grey Skills, and Australia through BONZA, by presenting well-balanced information sessions to the community on the pitfalls of an ageing population and advising how Boomers can plan for the future by acquiring the knowledge and skills to do so meaningfully.
Brian works to equip Boomers with the skills necessary to tackle the extension of their careers, re-entry into the workforce and to prepare financially and mentally for a longer than predicted retirement. He has had great success with thousands of Boomers, from general managers to drug addicts, assisting them to move forward with their lives no matter what their history is.
“It’s all about the future,” he states, “and never giving up!” He wants Baby Boomers to participate economically and socially if nothing else and have a BONZA life.
5.0 out of 5 stars Story of A Healthcare System That Put a Father Through Hell, But May Save the Rest of Us! By Sherrie Miranda on May 18, 2018 Format: Paperback First I was extremely sad reading this story of a father coming to terms with the loss of his beautiful boy. Then I got angry knowing that our medical system let this boy & his family down. The story took me up and down, but it also gave me faith: Faith in family and faith in humanity. If you are a doctor, you should read this. The AMA does not recognize the need or understand the importance of gut health. People are dying because it is being ignored. Quinn should not have died. But there are many others who have died too. All ages. Brian has a great family that pulled together & helped him get out of a deep depression because of the needless loss of his son. I'm sure Quinn is smiling down on his dad telling him he did the right thing. I can only hope that enough people read this that we can change our healthcare system to a system that cares about people, NOT money! Sherrie Miranda's historically based, coming of age, Adventure novel “Secrets & Lies in El Salvador” will be out en Español soon. It's about an American girl in war-torn El Salvador: http://tinyurl.com/klxbt4y Her husband made a video for her novel. He wrote the song too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P11Ch...
