From the depths of the human mind to the reaches of extra-galactic space, these stories embrace anything and everything that's human (and non-human). Visit Prester John in his hidden Indian kingdom, Satiety Jones on the bottom of the sea, Meester Seven on the planet Altamoria IV, and an introspective witness to murder in, yes, a back alley. Lawyer Kestrel learns unlikely lessons as he defends a woman who turned the homeless to soup, Mikael Yorum leaves a gift for Johann Sebastian Bach, the Turks bombard Philadelphia, and Rabelais gives advice to Santa deep into booze and depression at the North Pole.

These stories don’t belong to any given genre, don’t consciously reflect any specific outlook, philosophical or otherwise. They are stories, meant to be read and enjoyed for their simple existence. Some are straightforward with only a few kinks, others revel in convoluted style. Most are short, though a couple roam the world. Dip in, dip out, read them in the tub, leave them in a conspicuous place when you’re through to confound the public.

I've published lots of short stories, three novels and a short story collection, written a dozen plays for our local community and have a stack of ideas that get in each other's way.

I live in rural Pennsylvania because I'd spent most of my life in Philadelphia and hated it. Now I'm what passes for happy. Chainsaw wood, watch the sun set and read the news online. Got a Kindle so I wouldn't worry about dropping my favorite books in the bathtub, and I could read all of the 19th century for free. Dropped the Kindle in the bathtub (damn!).

Like almost all music except big bands, opera, Latin and rap, yet go days on end listening to nothing but crickets. I wish I'd picked up that used copy of The History of Meat put out by Armour or Swift in 1915, with color plates. Have a foot-high statue of The Tick given to me by my daughter when she was 10. It spouts Tick phrases like "Spoon!" and is still running on the same battery after 25 years, proving the power of the world's greatest arachnid superhero.

With any luck, I'll continue to take almost nothing seriously.
