Zander didn’t get where he is by playing nice. Everyone has a price. Maverick is no exception.

Maverick knew when he met Zander he’d have to set boundaries. Zander Kapra already has more than any one man should, and Maverick doesn’t intend to join the list of faceless men Zander has probably bedded. It doesn’t help that Zander is in the position to make or break Maverick’s MMA career. Maverick would never let any man have that kind of power over him.

As owner of all the Luna hotels and casinos on the West Coast, Zander controls who can enter bet fights in his cages. Maverick caught his eye months ago. Every Friday night, Zander makes a point of being wherever Maverick is, stalking him. Waiting for his chance. There’s something about the cocky fighter. Zander has to have him, but Maverick doesn’t treat him like everyone else. It doesn’t matter. Zander didn’t get where he is by playing nice. He gets who he wants. Whenever he wants them. He won’t allow Maverick to be an exception.

From day one, Maverick and Zander struggle for dominance, but Maverick has bigger problems than Zander’s overbearing ways. Zander’s secrets might be a harder punch than he can take.

“You are the very best thing that’s ever happened to me. I want your every day and night too.”
Zander looked so hopeful it made Maverick’s chest hurt. “So, I can keep you?”
“We’re keeping each other.”

➡️ Am I getting addicted to this author's sweet and angsty M/M romances? Yes 🙈

I mostly liked this book. The characters were complex, the MMA fighting scene was new and exciting for me and there was plenty of angst to go around. It would have been a great book if it didn't sound so one-sided. There was a lot of background for Zander, how he ended up where he was but absolutely nothing about Maverick - no family, what made him tick, even barely mentioned depression. I mean where did he come from? Absolutely nothing. It felt like the author focused on the most complex and angsty character and completely forgot about the other one.

Zander Kapra is an enigma in the beginning. He is rich and powerful, he does not take no for an answer. The whirlwind romance that follows their meeting should be the stuff of fairy tails but there is always that well wisher who wants to warn Maverick about Zander. The thing is, I found it a little hard to like Maverick since some of his actions kind of smacked of immaturity and selfishness. Then his issue with lies and what Zander supposedly done - I again could not understand his ferocious attitude towards it. Has something happened to him that he reacted in that way? He saw that Zander was in a bad place and needed him but Maverick was so stuck on HIS feelings that he ignored everything else.

I really liked Zander though, even with his obsessive tendencies he was so cute when he didn't know how to react to Maverick's little gifts. This whole problem for me could have been avoided if there was at least something about Maverick's past to justify his attitude but all I had to go on was his youth but that does not sound like a good excuse.

These two men are perfect for each other and they suffered needlessly until it was resolved between them. I am glad that Maverick actually tried to understand. He has a long way to go but he is heading in the right direction. So, all in all the book is quite interesting and I recommend it!

Holy sh*t. WTF. That was so much better than the book #1. I'm so glad I'm taking a chance with this one. I'm not having issues with the writing style like the previous. It's like it was written by someone else. Hey, it's just an opinion, okay?

I really liked Zander and Maverick's story. They're just so much feels between them. I admit they became a bit sappy but I do not mind. It works for them. And obviously, it works for me too. And let's not forget the angry make-up sex. Love it! Hot and dirty!

Ok. So this is a weird one to rate because I liked it. The characters. Their story. The copious amounts of hot sex they have (except the one sans lube, ouch!)...But throughout all of it I didn't quite feel connected to the story. Something was missing and I don't really know how to describe what. So, yeah. Weird. Especially since I know I'll read the next one in the series when it comes out...and probably the one after that. *shrugs*

“A person doesn’t need water to drown. I’ve been suffocating for so long I forgot what it felt like to breathe properly before I met you.”

Oh the feels in the story! Zander and Maverick’s characters are briefly introduced in Sugar Fighter so I highly recommend you read that novella before starting Sugar Boss! Trust me on this!

Maverick has been MMA fighting in the casino circuit, never having enough faith in his abilities to move beyond the local matches. At each match, he feels eyes upon him. Eyes that covet each move he makes. When he is approached by the owner of those gorgeous eyes, he feels an instant connection…one that sets sparks flying and kindles a hope that maybe this man could be the one. “You make me weak,” Maverick said almost too quiet to hear. A smile touched Zander’s lips. “Funny. You make me strong.”

Zander Kapra is the owner of the hotels/casinos in which Maverick has been fighting his MMA matches. Zander believes he is beyond redemption for the sins of his past, but watching this young man, he feels alive again…he feels hope for a future. Never one to take no for an answer, Zander sets to woo Maverick to become his, but what he fails to realize until it’s too late is that Maverick holds the power in this relationship, and when Zander’s secrets are revealed, he lashes out at the one person who loves him, leaving Maverick broken. “Maybe we’ll find each other in the next life, and you won’t hate me there.”

This reader absolutely fell hard for Zander Kapra! Everyone deserves a second chance at happiness, and I was so thrilled that Zander and Maverick got their HEA! Charity Parkerson pulled no punches in this story! I am so ready for the next installment! Highly recommend!

I wanted to love this more but the truth is it felt underdeveloped. I'm not sure what was missing, I just wanted more. Zander was not only secretive, but I also never felt the weight of his stature and importance. I suppose it's because all that comes in all the other books he's in. But if I'd only read this , he'd seem a little underwhelming.
(I've already read all the other books in the other series he's in.)
Maverick felt young and spontaneous. That's what he had going for him and I forgave his rash behavior. The insta love just felt empty, they didn't know each other at all. Yes, lust but still for all their talking it seems they didn't talk at all.
Now, one more thing. Writers, please. if you've ever had alcohol poisoning, fainted, then spent an entire night throwing up, you know damn well there's no way you'd be in any state to have that important talk or do anything other than zombie yourself under the cover of your bed.
So, C,P, go to your room and rethink that entire make up scene. Thank you 🙃😉😊

This was book 2 in the "Sugar Daddies" series. I read this book after reading the "Kings of the East" series I wanted to read all about Zander Kapra a West Coast mafia boss. This wasn't at all like I thought it would be but it did answer a few questions I had about Zander. Maverick is a MMA fighter who catches the eye of Zander Kapra who is hot sexy and wealthy. Maverick knew he had to set some boundaries with Zander and not allow him to buy his way into his life. These two begin dating and it is hot and sweet. Zander had his childhood took from him when his family sold him to a man that used and abused him he just wants to be loved. This was a pretty good read that I wished was darker. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.

So I'm not going to rate this book because I'm trying to be fair and give it credit for what it is, and not that I thought it would be. There's nothing inherently wrong with this series. It's a fun read and good in parts. It just isn't what I expected and doesn't give me what I need. This book is better than Book 1 in the sense that it's longer and actually factors in the Sugar Daddy angle (Zander has real money, and does attempt to use it to improve Maverick's life), but the book just doesn't feel like all it could be.

First off, I was completely overjoyed to find an m/m Sugar Daddy series. It felt like Christmas, Thanksgiving everything rolled into one and, of course, the author has to execute her vision as she sees fit. But, to me, this series feels like someone picked me up for a date in a convertible with a packed picnic lunch and a map to a garden on chateau grounds, and then parked it in the driveway and had us take the bus to McDonald's. How? Why?? Meanwhile I'm still like, 'But I thought we were...' *hooks thumb in opposite direction*. To call a series 'Sugar Daddies', have an older man with lots of money (with possible dirty origins) and a younger MMA fighter, and not even include the slightest hint of Daddy kink (not even said in jest, not even once), or any real D/s, is just....so unfulfilling for me. And by Daddy kink I don't in any way mean age play. No short shorts or pacifiers or Daddy this, Daddy that every five seconds, none of that! Daddy kink is much more nuanced, and age play is not my thing. But goodness, really? Nothing?? Sugar Daddy and 'Daddy kink' aren't necessarily totally synonymous but 'Daddy' is part of the term for a reason. Even if you don't include the kink, include some of the qualities.

But, ok, let's say we totally skip the Daddy kink. To make the 'Sugar Daddy' the needy, submissive one is different (already not my favorite angle), and may very well be the case with lots of people who feel the need to 'buy' someone's affection, but could we at least have attempted to establish Zander's dominance first?? It would have been so much more interesting to have Zander think he had the upper hand, and have Maverick slowly peel away the layers and reveal his inner need; at least then the role reversal would make sense to me. Instead we have Zander send his bodyguards to ask Maverick to dinner, act like he's going to be dominant, and then he's on his knees and blah blah blah. Ugh. If that was the angle then just, from the beginning, have it be that Zander is submissive and not ashamed to pay for what he wants, which is a big, strong man to take charge in the bedroom. That would still have given him control. Instead everything just feels all over the place. Again, book 1 was just a boyfriend with money, and this book is a lost, broken dude with money (which many SDs may be, but show us the progression from the powerful front to the man behind the curtain). Everything is all giddy right from the beginning. As they're written, neither of these really screams 'Sugar Daddy' to me. It's all a bit underwhelming, and totally undermines the series title. This book still won't make it to my Sugar Daddy shelf.

The insta love did not work for me. There was no depth here. One minute they've just met, and the next they're all extra lovey dovey and the love of each other's lives. I just never really felt any real connection to them. I did like the mafia angle, and Maverick's handling of the reveal, and I liked the secondary characters so there was enough to keep my interest...just not enough for me to love. Attempting to say that Zander was 'twisted' because Maverick used a toy on him one time was kind of laughable. I think maybe he felt that way because Zio made him feel he was dirty but, for me, it was more like hinted kink that never materialized. Book 3 says that Hendrix is 'kinky as hell'...I'm not getting my hopes up. I'll still probably read it in the hopes that just ONE of the books in this series turns out to be what I thought the series would be in the first place - an older, wealthy, dominant man who knows what he wants and is not afraid to use his wealth to get it, and a younger man who appreciates that even if he has to struggle at first....or teach his SD he can't be bought, and it's not about the money. Either one! If he gets on his lap and calls him Daddy from time to time, ice cream for everyone! LOL If not, I'll still love it as long as the 'Daddy' is sexy, dominant, self assured and nurturing. All these wishy, washy, weak Sugar Daddies give me heartburn.

Sugar Boss is a better read than Sugar Fighter, that's for sure, but it's still far from a perfect read. I liked some things, and I disliked some things - and at some point I figured that they balanced each other out enough to justify a two-star, "it's okay" rating. But, well. There's visible improvement from the first book, no doubt thanks to the length of the story, so I figured that warranted an extra star.

I'll get the cons out of the way first. Zander's behavior bothered me half the time. Eventually I did understand; sometimes men who were raised the way he was just happen to have gray morals. And it wasn't like the author excused his behavior. But the stalker behavior - and Zander himself uses the word "stalker" in the book - didn't sit well with me.

The writing was still choppy and stilted in a lot of places. Sometimes it got better; I found myself reading without any problems in certain parts of the book. But the myriad of short sentences written one after the other eventually came back. They all startled me out of my reading. It's improved from the first book - I noticed the choppy writing a lot less in Sugar Boss than I did in Sugar Fighter - but I sincerely hope that the next book has even better writing flow.

Once I accepted that Maverick and Zander weren't gonna be the rainbows-and-unicorns type of fluffy romance I am so fond of, though, the reading experience got better for me. I wasn't entirely connected with the characters, still, but I do admit I enjoyed their dynamic a lot, especially back when they were still starting out. Maverick insisting on being the one to send Zander gifts, even if Zander is the rich man here, was a cute little touch.

And eventually they did get more romantic. I was smiling a little each time Maverick did something to make Zander laugh.

The book isn't perfect by any means, but still pretty enjoyable. I'll likely finish reading the entire series.

The Blogger Girls

Maverick is an MMA fighter and Zander owns the world…and the casino where Maverick fights. Maverick is attracted to Zander, and Zander is intent on adding Maverick to his collection. At first I was like, no way, Zander is a rich jerk. But then you realize he just doesn’t know how to be a normal person and his history is heartbreaking. He thinks the only way he can have friends, or even a lover is to buy them. Maverick is not to be bought.

There was a big dominance play in this story as both are set in their ways and don’t want to give in. Maverick just wants to be with Zander, he wants to win his own fights, and he wants to do it on his own. Zander wants to shower him gifts and use his name to make Maverick successful. They both have good intentions but those intentions fly in the face of what the other wants.
Maverick was all in, just on his own terms, but Zander has a sad history that just cuts you to the quick. He just needs to open up to Mav so that he can see the real man, and not the face he shows in public, or he will lose him forever. This was an emotional but enjoyable and fast read, and I loved watching Zander bloom under Maverick ministrations. Recommended.

Overall Impression: I really liked it

Sugar Boss is the second book in the Sugar Daddies series, and I loved it.

This book was a little longer than the first, and a little more intense. The chemistry between Zander and Maverick was crazy, and my heart broke when we found out everything Zander went through in the past.

Definitely worth the read.

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-
Away-book like
‘Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd,
‘Save the at he kids' series from EM Leya,
‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or
'Liberty' from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a
WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises
(like most of Andrew Grey’s books)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few
times a year (most romances where you can
enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader,
maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-
reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but
it was ok). It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too
many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an
absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole
line, dismissed, repeat the class

I read Sugar Fighter (Sugar Daddies Book #1) and loved it so I went straight into reading this book Sugar Boss .

Wow!!! This one got me right in the heart. For me this was more emotional than the last book. My chest ached so bad for Zander .

Zander Kapra owned a chain of hotels ‘Luna Hotel’ and Casinos, as soon as his eyes met MMA fighter Maverick Abney , he wanted this man come hell or high water . Nothing was going to stand in his way of getting what he wanted . And what Zander wanted was Maverick .

Maverick wants Zander just as much , once they meet, sparks fly, chemistry is hot and heavy but they both fight for dominance being the Alpha males they are. One wants control to show he doesn’t need money to take care of him, the other fights for control showing money doesn’t matter but when your broken that’s all there is to show care.

There are so many things I loved about this story .The hurt they both have, the vulnerability the try to hide, the stubbornness, the angst , the hot & heavy sexual chemistry was off the charts . I loved all aspects of their story .

Can these two gorgeous men put aside past traumas, present lies and hurts to come find a happily ever after ? Or has too much happened to be able to move on.

Read Sugar Boss and find out. You won’t be disappointed.

MMA fighter Maverick knew when he met Zander Kapra he'd have to set some boundaries as he is not going to become another notch on his bedpost even though he is in a position to make or break his career. Zander owns all of the Luna hotels and casinos on the West Coast and Maverick caught his eye months ago and so he makes a point to always be there watching him fight. After Zander makes his move they both struggle for dominance but Maverick's problem might well be Zander's secrets which might be too big for him to take.

I enjoyed this story with the two men who fall in love and apart from Maverick's issues around Zander's wealth seem fine until some of his secrets come out and Maverick draws the line against them. After some discussions and details about times well before they met each other I was relieved when they managed to sort out their differences. This was an emotional story with some harrowing stories from the past. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content.

heart wrenching but beautiful

I did no what to expect as the author went back before before being in the present with this couple but it was so worth it. We needed to see what happened with Zander and Maverick when they saw each other at the fights in Vegas during the first book. Then fast forward and oh my I was as crushed as the characters were, to say I had tears is an understatement, I straight up cried for them. Zander is a such a lost soul that needs the love that Maverick is not sure he can give but wants to but on his terms and with out lies which he feels Zander does through omission. I felt with these characters which is what I look for in a book when I read. This series is so doing it for me, I’m glad I took a chance on this author for something fresh in my library…so back to the Sugar Daddies I go!!!

Fantastic boxer meets mob/bratva boss story. Maverick is the brief love rival in the first book while Zander is simply a menacing shadow. The attraction in this book between the two is almost insta-love powerful, but starts out with uncomplicated, provocative lust. The two’s inner drama pushes and pulls at their insecurities, while a slew of side characters support them in direct and at times combative capacities. Zander has his own love rivals (real and imaginary) as well as a super dark past he wants to hide from his young buck. The book really picks up at a particular point in time during the first book. All the side couples open up the universe for a wealth of possibilities, too.
The smut is varied and the main characters are vers, which accelerates the pacing. It makes this an excellent read for someone looking for a quick spicy read with a flare of moroseness.

Came to this one because I read the first for free a while back and thought « why not? »

The 1st one was good but too short to leave a mark but I loved this one. It was interesting to see the 2 books’ timeline collide and to see Maverick POV on those scenes.

The only things that bothered me:
- once we’re in the « present day/ 3 months later » timeline it feels like the 2 MC are acting like it’s actually the next day or next week. A bit strange to suddenly be « why are you ignoring my call? » if it’s 3 months later.
- I’m not a fan of real life anger being mixed with kink so I don’t think their last sex scene in the shower was the smartest choice

Overall I was nicely surprised by the plot and now I’m curious about certain other characters :)

I'M OBSSESSED!
This author is an absolute genius, I have not a single doubt about that one. I loved this relationship, I liked the implications of how deep the understanding was between Zander and Maverick. I can't help but crave a man as sweet as one of this two men. I SIMPLY CAN'T!

I can tell this series it's going to be one of my absolute favs. I can't believe I didn't found out about this book earlier. I really liked it. The previous book was very good, but this one it's just amazing. I can't wait to read the next one.

Oh, and the HEA? Fucking yeah. I love me some good happy ending despite the odds being against it.

5 stars all the way.

Sweetly sexy

A sweet and sexy M/M love story. A Russian mafia boss falls hard for a cage fighter, but struggles coping with his own past. Maverick wants the enigmatic billionaire with the light blue eyes, but he doesn't like feeling that people think that Zander owns him and that Maverick has found a sugar daddy. As the two admit their love for each other, Zander remains elusive about his past and Maverick realizes he has to break down those walls if there is any hope for a future together.

This one was a little different for me. I am used to reading stories where there is one dominant character and one who is a bit more submissive. Even when there is no kink involved there is usually a more alpha character. That's not the case here. Both Maverick and Zander have more of an alpha personality. They are both used to being in charge and watching the push and pull between them was amazingly sexy.

Maverick gets his HEA

I loved this story. I actually forgot for a minute that it was interconnected with Zeke and Korey’s story. Zander and Maverick were everything I wanted for this story.

My only complaints: Editing… sometimes the errors were super distracting. Also, I needed more about Maverick’s backstory… we read all about Zander’s but not about his.

Now I’m intrigued about Sugar Bear

Wayyy better than book 1. This was a short but great read. I wish it was longer and we got more of Zander’s story and past as it was just lightly glossed for such a heavy dark past. Will be reading book 3 when it comes out. Also.... i need that guy who ended Gio’s life, I want his and his husbands story too. Please and thank you!

Loved it

This one isn't for the faint of heart. It pulls at your soul. Maverick is a upcoming MMS fighter who caught the eye of Zander. Zander has money and power but Maverick can't be and won't be bought. A night of passion turns into so much more. Lies and deception could tear them apart. Will they both find out how the other feels before it's too late?

See what I mean about you know something is coming but you don't know what? This is one of those somethings. What a powerful read. Maverick and Zander hit me in the feels. Sander the most. Not until almost the end do you get a true grasp of who he is and what he's been through. Perfect example to not judging until you know all the facts.

Loved this book!

After reading Sugar Fighter, I was ready to devour book 2. And devour it I did! I was looking forward to Maverick’s story after his introduction in book 1. After meeting Zander I was in LOVE! Learning his backstory was my favorite part, except for the steamy scenes, which were on fire! 100% recommend this series!

I did not expect to love Zander but omg. I loved how he acted all unfeeling in front of everyone, but alone he was hugging flowers and grinning at text messages like an adorkable boy in love.

I absolutely adored Zander and Maverick's story and I'm so looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Short and fabulous

These are all short and fabulous. Suspend your disbelief just a bit and get totally sucked into the romance-scape of the fighting rings. A bit of mafia, some super sexy times, and a lot of really intense over the top, semi insane men that really love their partners.
