Primordyan Chronicles #1

Dragon Guardian: Fire

Rate this book
Primordya was once a world of peace where man, dwarf and elf lived in harmony while aligning themselves against their common enemy--the dark elves. But such a balance could not last forever. Having enslaved the dwarves, the dark elves--led by their queen, Nahga--have now turned their ambitious gaze to the surface world. The realm of man was the first to fall, and the realm of the elves hangs on by a mere thread.

Unwillingly thrust into a war that was centuries in the making, Princess Marin Draconya--daughter of Ronar, mortal High King of Primordya, and Niamh, elven Princess of Silvistri--must brave her way through the wilds after her parents and sister are viciously murdered by Nahga. Taken under the wing of the powerful mage, Nicodemus, Marin learns not only to master the raw magic coursing through her veins, but also of her true destiny as a Dragon Guardian--a rare and powerful mage with the ability to command all dragons.

In order to achieve this destiny, Marin must journey to the shrines of the four Elemental Dragons and prove to them that she is indeed worthy of her birthright. Only then will she be able to unite the people of Primordya under a unified banner and defeat Nahga and her massive army.

Fantasy has always been a large part of my life. From the first moment my father read The Hobbit aloud to me as a child, I was completely hooked on the genre. Every book I've read since then, every video game I've played, and every film I've watched has only increased my love and fascination for the world of dragons, elves and other mystical beings. It should therefore come as no surprise that I would want to contribute to that vast world.

Dragon Guardian: Fire marks the beginning of my Dragon Guardian series, in which I bring to life a world and characters that have been growing within my imagination for fourteen years. This series truly is my life's work.

When I'm not writing, I can be found spending time with my husband and daughter in Minnesota where we make our home with our two very spoiled cats.

Dragon Guardian

By Aida Jacobs

4 stars

I am not a big fan of paranormal or fantasy fiction. But, I think Jacobs may have just changed my mind. I don’t think I can read them one after another but certainly every once in a while.

Set in Primordya, the reader is riveted to the mission of revenge. It was action packed and the pages just turned effortlessly. The magic was incredibly creative. I could see this made into a movie. Very cool.

Jacobs’ book is a bit long but I imagine that the details of a made up world is needed, as well as not your average characters. I felt like I was right there with her and the writing was intelligent and exciting.

Thank you so much for letting Books on Fire reviews this.

First off you get swept away to Primordya. A place of ultimate wonder. But there is so much action and adventure. This is no normal fantasy. Dragons, Elves, Dwarfs, Mages. and more.

This book will have you yelling at the characters, crying, nail biting. Its so edgy and brilliant.
The story leaves you wanting more and demanding to have it now.

The revenge plot is amazing and had me biting my nails many of times. The ancient evil, gave me chills. There is nothing ordinary or "normal." Its amazing and can't wait to read the next.

A fantastic fantasy and the first in the series. In a land filled with elves, humans, Mages and Dragons and featuring one Evil dark elf who is a villain that you love to hate. Fantastic start and looking forward to more adventures in Primordya

This fantasy epic is the first in a series. Marin is your prototypical protagonist caught in the center of a prophecy to free get land from an ancient evil. Despite being filled with your standard fantasy tropes, it still is an enjoyable read, with twists and turns that follow Marin from the start of her journey.

The book does suffer from some technical editing issues, and at times, it seems difficult to ascertain how much time has passed. In turn, that made it hard to figure out the pacing of the sequence of events.

A good start to a new fantasy epic. You're introduced to the action and conflict right away, and you immediately connect with the characters because of how utterly "human" they are. You'll laugh, you'll bite your nails, and you will be on the edge of your seat right up until the end.

Just as awesome on the second read as the first

I just finished rereading this before moving on to the next books in the series. It's just as good on the second read as it was on the first.

A terrifying foe bent on world domination, a prophecy, and a quest to fulfill the heroine's destiny... And definitely dragons! Marin Draconya has a long road ahead of her to restore the land of Primordya, and to right the wrongs of the evil Nahga.

The author's first novel is a quick and enjoyable read. While a predictable sword & sorcery novel, it leaves room for character growth and an expansion of the world as the author comes into her own. I look forward to reading the next book, and seeing how the main character and her companions progress.
