She came into my life and brought her secrets with her. But I have my own secret. She's not leaving without me. My billions have a way of getting me in trouble. Women throw themselves at me. Men try and take what's mine. But I don't give in to threats. I make them. Gwen's different. She doesn't treat me like a sugar daddy. I thought it would be a one night stand, but I can't get her out of my head. Her every inch brought me pleasure. If her ex hurts her or her baby, I'll give him nothing but pain. Gwen has to trust me. I protect what's mine. She can run, but she can't hide. Not from me. He's her past. I'm her future. There can be only one winner. "Mine to Protect" is a full length standalone romance with no cheating and no cliffhangers, but with plenty of a steam and a HEA. I've also included a preview of my billionaire romance "The Deal" for you! - Sarah J. Brooks (USA Today Bestselling Author)
1.5 Stars I'm being generous here! I was not a fan of this story. To start off I don't know how Gwen doesn't consider what Paul did to her rape. He 100% raped her. Gwen is an idiot and Colt isn't much better. I am all for the OTT alpha males but Colt's actions just came across as stalkerish and creepy. Gwen ran every time there was a problem or she didn't trust Colt. And Colt just stupidly pined away for her. During their long separation it is said that Colt dated a bunch of women but they didn't hold a candle to Gwen. It isn't mentioned if he slept with them or not. The climax at the end with Paul literally happened out of nowhere and ended before I could blink. It was all to abrupt. This was definitely not a favourite of mine from Sarah J Brooks. I voluntarily read an arc copy for my honest review!
Mine to protect should have been mind to annoy me!
I am not generally one to write a negative review, however, the story, Mine to protect, was painfully implausible, and one of the most irritating stories I have ever read!
The lead female character, Gwen, had to be the single most naive and unbelievably judgemental, and frustrating character I have had the misfortune of reading in a supposed romance story.
All throughout reading this story I couldn't get over how absurd this woman was. The story shows her victimized, sexually assaulted, impregnated then terrorized, but she is completely ignorant and continued to deny the logical conclusion and instead blames the one man who has been nothing but kind to her and her daughter.
The story is maddening. Spare yourself the pain, but to be fair, I have to say I have not finished the book, but after that first story I felt I had more than enough.
Sarah J Brooks hits the emotions everytime, Gwen is written very well and pulls on your heartstrings. The way Gwen picks herself up and although has difficulties, gets on with life the best she can. This is a hot, drama filled read and very addictive. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The female is a complete idiot and the guy more so for continuing to try to get her back. I love out there over the top stories but this was even too far fetched. The writing was stilted. None of the characters came across as that bright, very immature and often annoying. It was like a bad movie, or a train wreck, you just couldn’t look away but had to see how the ending went. Just like those movies I regret finishing it.
I had high hopes when I started reading this book. The characters were intriguing and the plot had me hook. Now you must be thinking:"Well what went wrong?" EVERYTHING! The 2nd half of the book was mostly told through telling. The herione behavior made me dislike her and I felt the hero deserved someone a lot better. The 2nd half of the book felt rushed, it seemed as if the author was tired of writing and threw some words together to complete the book.
it doesn't add up. she's a seriously stupid girl who makes assumptions and acts like a 12 year old. at the same time it's said that he finds her intriguing, intelligent and interesting. how?! don't read it. you're wasting precious time
Broken beauty meets overbearing mogul in the latest romance by Sarah J. Brooks.
Gwen Patterson was about to begin a new chapter of her life. A popular cheerleader, she has big plans to leave for Chicago after graduating from high school to become a model. On her graduation day, she meets Paul Romano, with no idea that he is unbalanced and has been stalking her for quite some time. Paul spends several weeks posing as Gwen's boyfriend, until the night that he forcefully takes her innocence. Upon finding out that Gwen is pregnant, Paul abandons her, leaving Gwen alone and devastated. Once her daughter Carrie is born, Gwen decides to run from the small-town stigma that she feels is attached to her single-motherhood, and heads for Chicago. Fortunate enough to land herself a job at the exclusive clothing boutique Blaze, she settles into life in the big city.
Chicago billionaire Coulter "Colt" Stillman was discovering the hard way that being a successful businessman means having a target on your back for those looking to get a handout. Spending the day in a courtroom once again defending himself against a fraudulent claim, he finds himself intrigued by a beautiful woman angrily glaring at him from the jury (Gwen). He has his assistant find out who she is, then proceeds to follow her to a club in order to meet her. The two soon begin a tumultuous affair, but as things heat up, strange things begin to happen. Will Gwen's inability to trust Colt's heavy-handed approach doom their relationship before it starts?
I was intrigued by the beginning of the book. My heart broke for Gwen's character, as well as for all the other girls in real life who may find themselves in that situation. I enjoyed the descriptions of Gwen's shopping spree at her new job, and I was reading on with great hopes for the story.
Unfortunately, once the couple met, the story began to fall apart for me. Colt and Gwen never made any sense together as a couple. Colt was extremely heavy-handed, and at times even seemed to become a stalker-like himself. Gwen was a woman in need of some serious therapy. She couldn't seem to toss Colt under the bus fast enough for every and any thing that happened to her, even when doing that made absolutely no sense. She refused to trust him at all. Definitely not a match made in heaven. The secondary stalker plot had potential, but sadly, it was not well written either- ultimately leading to a rather disappointing and confusing ending. While I wanted to like this story, it really just didn't work for me. I received an ARC of this book, and I voluntarily chose to write an honest review.
Gwen's life changes for her on the day she graduates high school and meets Paul. Paul is a controlling type of man and he has spent a long time waiting for Gwen to become legal. However he never expected for her to become pregnant and when she did he disappeared. Left with a baby to raise Gwen moved to Chicago for a fresh start and meets Colt after she serves jury duty for a case he is involved in. Colt is mesmerized by Gwen and makes it his mission to locate her after she leaves the courthouse. Gwen is standoffish to Colt's pursuit of her but he broke down her walls and she gave in and went out with him. Thinking her being a single mom would put him off she introduce him to her daughter. Things seemed to be going well for them until Gwen came home to her apartment and it was trashed. Is Colt to good to be true? Will Colt prove to be the man Gwen needs in her life?
This was a great story once I started I could put it down. This was a very entertaining story and will keep you on the edge of your seat. The chemistry between Gwen and Coly is smoking hot. I would recommend this to any of my book friends.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. I enjoyed it so much I bought my own copy.
This was a great book. It was emotional and trying. Gwen is very young and trying to make it on her own. At many times in this story she really shows her age. She runs in fear of something she doesn't even try to understand, placing the blame in the wrong place.
This story really grabbed my attention from the very beginning. It was shocking and emotional. The main characters are wonderful, but Gwen tended to irritate me a bit with her irrational behaviour. Colt is a wonderful and strong alpha male. He is sexy and very wealthy and when he sets his sight on something, nothing stops him from getting it. Including Gwen. Colt proves time and time again he is more than what Gwen thinks.
I loved the story overall. I was a bit disappointed in the ending. Don't get me wrong, it is a wonderful HEA ending, but it felt rushed. The story flows smooth and steady till the end then it skips off, like you racing for the finish line. I felt the ending could have had more bang! Again the book and story are amazing as always with Sarah's books. She finds troubled girls and brings in their alpha hero to save the day. A perfect blend of mystery and sexy. A great plot with entertaining and intriguing characters.
Colt and Gwen are intriguingly complex on their journey to find happiness. Gwen knows the cost of trusting the wrong person. While her daughter is a gift the circumstances surrounding her conception proved a hard life lesson to Gwen. Since then she has focused on Carrie and building their lives. When fate puts her on the path to meet Colt Stillman her fears instilled by her past mistakes lead her to making quick snap judgments about the strong and assured man. Colt seems bent on becoming part of her life but letting him in seems so risky with two hearts on the line this time. Colt was instantly drawn to beautiful and confident Gwen. Trying to convince her to take a chance on him may require some high handed tactics but for Gwen it seems worth the trouble. She seems prone to running though but he is bound and determined to not let her get away.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
First of all, the characters are all unlikable. Gwen is incredibly judgemental and is, I'll call it as it is, stupid. After she gets r*ped by Paul, she still thinks that she can build a life with him??? He got her high without her knowledge or consent, took her to his camper when she wasn't feeling well and then proceeded to have non-consensual sex while she screamed for him to stop and she still dreams of having a life with him after that? And then she jumps to conclusions and runs at any chance she gets, sabotaging her life along the way. She got this amazing job and then ruins it by running away and keeping the fact that she has a child a secret.
Coult isn't much more likeable. He behaves like a creepy stalker and I have to admit that I can understand why she was cautious at first. If this was a dark romance then I would understand, but this is supposed to be an alpha-male love story with a happy ending. At one point he admits that it would be so easy to take advantage of her, but decides not to. Applauds for this stand-up guy. The fact that he followed her and kept track of her in order to "take care of her"... Nah, still creepy.
I had expected Paul to show up a lot earlier. He just showed up abruptly at the ending and that was a bit unsatisfying. This book was more frustrating than anything else.
My oh my this author knows how to write an entertaining and sexy love story with great depth and intriguing chemistry. She keeps the reader in suspens and guessing what happes next.
This is a wonderful and well executed plot. The storyline is as heartwrenching as the HEA is beautiful. I loved the male character, well the second male character because I have other strong feelings for the first one. But enough about that.
I would have loved for the ending to be a little longer, it felt a little to fast paced at the end. Other than that it was a great read.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
A well written story, as always by Sarah J Brooks. I love the way she describe things and how she uses the language. I liked the chase in the story but got a bit annoyed with Gwens reaction to always blame it on Coulter when anything bad happened. She felt a bit naive and not fully like her character.
I’m really on the fence with this one. The storyline was good—at least the premise was good—but good grief...the main characters left a lot to be desired. As much as I wanted to really like this book, something always popped up and would make me think you have to be kidding. Even the HEA was disappointing.
I really like Sarah J. Brooks, so even though Mine to Protect didn’t work for me—hopefully it will be awesome for you. And I’ll definitely read more by this author. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was disappointed.)
DNF - and I truly don’t understand how it can’t have such high ratings.
Right off the bat, the female MC was raped. And if you don’t consider what happened to her rape, then at the very least it’s VERY dubious consent and I think the author should most definitely make that clear in her blurb.
One of the male characters gives her pot, one puff and she’s high as the sky. Proceeds to get her naked, in a bed, she tells him no several times. She even vomits while he’s having sex with her !!! I’m sorry - is that not rape ??
On top of that, the female MC is a total idiot. The male MC takes her out to dinner, she has 2 glasses of wine - clearly she’s a lightweight because she’s now drunk. Takes her to his place but leaves her in the guest room. Guess who starts their sexcapade ? She does. Then the next day, instead of acting like an adult, she runs away, literally, calls in at her brand new job, somehow manages to get 3 weeks off, which she claims to need to put her life back in order. Apparently she has an issue with being a one night stand, even though she made herself that. Did I mention she also lied and completely denied her baby, saying it was her roommate’s ??
I just could not deal with the ridiculous h, her judgmental attitude, her lying, immaturity, and well, the author’s whole writing style was lacking. No thanks. Hard pass.
I think the book had tons of potential but never really played on it. Gwen was stupid. SHE WAS RAPED!!! And chalks it up to trust issues and having her heart broken?! Come on! I think it if the author wrote more about Gwen thinking someone was following her or watching her it would have given a more urgent feel but it was never there. A few times i was like OKAY THIS IS IT! THIS IS WHERE ITS GONNA GET GOOD! Then it fizzled sooooo hard. I laughed out loud towards the end when it was supposed to be all dramatic when Colt and Gwen finally realize its Paul & run to get Carrie and the next chapter is their wedding without resolving anything! Then Paul shows up drunk, admits he did everything (which was like three things, the apartment, the phone calls & the newspaper. Im not playing off stalking as no big deal & the things he did would be terrifying but the author gave each of those events barely a paragraph) then he speeds off and crashes his bike and dies. THE END!! The whole book was leading up to the moment they confront Paul and it never delivered. Pretty upset I wasted hours reading this.

All The Lonely People💔, Where Do they All Belong💘?
Gwen💃, a stunningly beautiful girl, gets waylaid just after graduation at eighteen by Paul, the town bad boy. When she tells him she's pregnant from the one time they were together, he promptly joins the Army and disappears.
She makes the best of a bad situation and has and keeps her baby girl, plus does some modeling and takes design classes. A year or so later, She lands a great job at the best dress shop in town. Then she's put on jury duty, where the defendant is wealthy business man and real estate developer, Coulter Stillman.🐺🍆🌋
The judge dismisses the case but Gwen💃 lets herself be angry and blame Coulter🐺. She is really angry about having to go to jury duty and she was worried she'd lose her job over it, but she didn't.
Coulter🐺 sees her and directs his assistant to find out all about her. He is interested in her. Then, he makes sure he's at the dance club she and her friend go out to that night. She tries to hate him, but she didn't know the facts of the case. Coulter🐺 tells everyone at the 🍸bar she jumped to conclusions, plus he buys food and drinks for every one, winning them over !
Colt🐺 wants Gwen to be his, but her experience with Paul has ruined her ability to trust. After one date and a night of true bliss, Colt wants her always. He feels a great need to protect her and care for her.
For her part, Gwen💃 freaks out, grabs her baby, and leaves town. First she goes to her parents house by bus, but someone is watching her. So, she leaves there after only one day, and returns to the city, dragging her poor baby back and forth across the countryside. She ignores Colt's calls.
Colt🐺 is so upset he can't concentrate on his business, he can't sleep, he gets plastered. He's a mess! He has to find her.
Gwen💃 has a totally misguided outlook on life. I didn't feel sorry for her craziness concerning Colt🐺 and his intentions. I felt She was completely out of line. Colt🐺 was the only adult character in the book📑.
Gwen💃 needs a psychiatrist. She acts on whims and jumps to insane conclusions, without getting information and input. She is trying to be an adult but every thing she does is childish and rash. I didn't like her character at all. She has a poisonous💀 personality.
This book📑 hit home for me in the beginning, because I went through exactly the same situation also at 18 years old, only with no support whatsoever from my family or the father. I never ever had the trust issues this woman has in this book. The whole book is unrealistic and disturbing after she meets Colt.
I know there is a happy ending to this book, but I am extremely disappointed in the insane story inbetween the beginning and the end.
ARC Received for a Voluntary and Honest Review. I also got the book with KU.

Gwen was very popular at school and when she graduated Paul, who has been fixated on her for a while, rapes her and when he finds out that she is pregnant he leaves to join the army. She moves to Chicago and finds a job as a model. But then she is called up for Jury Duty [something I have always wanted to do] and it is there that she catches the eye of the billionaire, Colt whose construction company is being prosecuted. He can't get her out of his mind and he finds her but she rebuffs all his offers of a date. Bearing in mind that she has been raped and then dumped by the father of her baby, she obviously has some trust issues with men - the very fact that she seems to be functioning normally after such trauma says a great deal about her. She thinks more on it as Colt is persistent and agrees to give him a chance and they really do do enjoy each other's company as the chemistry between them is explosive and they fit so well together. But then things start happening and Gwen is scared so she backs off from Colt which has him both frustrated and bewildered. What is going on in Gwen's world that is making her withdraw from Colt? What has got her scared? Is this the end for Gwen and Colt? I did think that the storyline was very good and Sarah J. Brooks has this great imagination for conjuring up interesting and believable characters and plots. I felt so very sorry for Gwen as she was a young 18 year old who had been raped and then dumped when her rapist dumped her after finding out that she was pregnant [pity she hadn't just gone to the police and reported him but, as I say, she was scared and a frightened young woman]. She was very quick to jump to conclusions about Colt which is a sign of her insecurities and her past so I really felt so sorry for her and for Colt as he was getting the backlash because of the rapist. In hindsight, she might well have got the police involved, but she was scared and alone - that's why she left home! Certainly at the ending I wish the police had been called to deal with the rapist. Some editing needed her and there. A thought provoking story and I look forward to Sarah's next book! I purchased a copy for myself as I enjoyed reading this book so much.

What an entrancing read from beginning to end. This is one author who consistently writes captivating storylines with appealing characters. Gwen was the all around popular girl and a cheerleader at her high school. She had dreams of leaving her small town home for the big city and saving herself for marriage. However, sometimes things do not always go as they are planned. She falls for Paul during the summer after her graduation and after a tumultuous night, he seduces her and takes her virginity. When she informs him of her predicament, Gwen is told that he left to join the Army. Soon after that, Gwen leaves and takes her young daughter with her. With Gwen’s life looking up and getting a new job in the big city, she is called to serve jury duty. From the second she eyes Colt, the defendant, she believes he is guilty of the charges. Colt is a billionaire who only has eyes for Gwen from the moment he sees her and tries to get her to go out with him. When she finally acquiesces and they have their first date, things change and Gwen does everything in her power to get rid of him, to no avail. Colt is like a dog with a bone and very tenacious. However, when it appears as if Gwen has a stalker and she feels threatened, she runs away. Will Colt go after Gwen and get to the truth as to why she keeps running away from him? Is Gwen capable of dealing with her past and able to stop pre-judging everything for the worst-case scenario? Will Colt and Gwen be able to have the relationship they both desperately want? This is one book to one click and start reading. I cannot wait for the next book from this author. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
I read this book as part of an arc program. I loved this book. Gwen was a high school cheerleader who seemed like she had her whole life figured out. When she graduated high school, Paul introduced himself and kinda of forced himself into her life. Paul began to spend time with her and became her boyfriend. Gwen was a virgin and Paul pushed her into having sex and then when she got pregnant, he left without a word and joined the army. Gwen decided to move to Chicago and try to get on with her life while raising Carrie. Gwen was summoned to jury duty where the defendant was Coulter, Colt. Colt was being set up by an employee looking to get money and the case was dismissed. When Colt and Gwen meet in a bar a few days later, Gwen dislikes Colt, thinking he was guilty. Colt tries to talk to Gwen and asks her out, but she refuses. There is something about Gwen Colt can't forget and he is more determined to get to know her. Colt follows Gwen and tries to win her over. Eventually Gwen begins to change her mind about Colt being a bad guy and decides to give him a chance. When Gwen lets her defenses down a bit, things begin to happen and she feels threatened. Gwen cuts all ties with Colt without telling him why. Colt wants to know why and vows to find her and get her back. I liked this story. There were times I was unsure who was really the bad guy and stalking Gwen. I like Colt, but he was a little headstrong. I know he wanted Gwen and loved her. I know Gwen loved Colt, but she was so scared to trust him after Paul. Good one.
Soooo I not going to give such a bad review but I really don’t like Gwen, I am sorry but Paul leaving as shitting as it was is kind of her fault, don’t get me wrong it felt as he rape her but she never goes and act like that, he try calling her until she was like leave me alone and when he leaves she like what he is bad sorry but she is as much in fault as he is and then we have her with Coulter and she does the same and has some lane excuse as to why.... I really don’t like her because she blames everyone for her action but herself would like it better that she was the one trying to call Paul and he them Blowing her up, it would had make more sense to her hate for him and not trusting any male...
I still reading so would see how I feel by the end.
Soo another update I still hate her, she is Selfish and this guys is going out his way for her but nooooo she has to think the worst of him and not even talk once to him about it I have never hate it a main character so much.
So I finish the book and I still don’t like the main character Gwen. I think this story has all the things for a great book were there but it was to rush and it need it some work to understand why this character was so bipolar. I may give this author another chance but not as this moment. I think you have all things going for you in your story just work in making your characters less bipolar and explain some of the reason why you had the story just need to work on how develops
I am sorry for the harsh review as I don’t like to do so but I never hate a character so much.

This book was told from two viewpoints - Gwen's and Colt's. That seems unusual in romances, although I have seen another one like that from another author. Maybe it's more common in e-books than the Harlequin romances that you'd see in the store.
The book was interesting and kept hold of my attention. A good book that will draw people in.
I liked Gwen. I think she should've mentioned her daughter, Carrie, to Colt sooner and shouldn't have assumed that it would make him run off. The dramatic points do keep the story moving along, including when she jumped to conclusions concerning a ransacking.
At times I didn't like Colt so much, especially when he said he would move on quickly from woman to woman. In the hospital scene he was too demanding - unjustly so - as if he didn't trust the doctors. He acted as if his were better. He was a billionaire so he was used to getting his own way. He needed to let the hospital personnel do their jobs. Gwen and Colt must be what they call flawed characters! (I mostly read mysteries so I don't come across characters like these often.)
I didn't really care for the title. Gwen could take care of herself, although I could understand why Colt felt that he had to take care of her. I also didn't like the tattooed guy on the cover; I don't think that Colt looks like that.
Wow, just wow! An emotive and compelling read! Kept me up most of the night, I could not put it down! It is so wonderful when a character clicks with a reader and because of that relationship, the book comes alive. Author Sarah J. Brooks’s well-developed character of Gwen in “MINE TO PROTECT” was that character for this reader/reviewer. Brooks’s words painted such a vivid picture of Gwen, that it was easy to feel her emotions: celebration, uncertainty, pain, embarrassment, determination and eventually her joy and excitement. Beyond the main character of Gwen, her best friend and roommate Bitsy was more well-developed than most secondary characters. Giving evidence that “MINE TO PROTECT” is a character-driven romance that will introduce you to some richly defined characters, who seem so real, it would not be surprising to bump into them on the way home from work. “MINE TO PROTECT” was a phenomenal read. As a reviewer I MUST give it the HIGHLY RECOMMENDED nod it has so richly earned. While I received an ARC of “MINE TO PROTECT” to prepare this honest, voluntary review, I will purchase “MINE TO PROTECT” when it goes live to support a VERY TALENTED writer! I strongly suggest you do the same, TODAY. Happy pages! 😉
No. I didn’t enjoy this story. The story is so unreal. Gwen the leading female character just graduate from High school and suddenly Paul, his stalker appears and invites himself to her graduation party and proclaims himself his date. Apparently she doesn’t like him but let him kiss her at the end. So they start dating and suddenly he rapes her and of course impregnate her and when she tells him the coward join the Army and leave her. So the story leaps maybe a couple of years later. Gwen and her daughter Carrie now live in Chicago with Bitzy a 911 operator. So Bitzy gets Gwen an interview with the manager of a high class boutique and just like that without experience got the job. Then we meet Coulter or Colt the leading male. He’s a billionaire and after being charged by a laboral lawsuit and Gwen being part of the jurors in his trial he gets a hard crush for her even when she is being nasty to him. From then on Gwen behaves like an judgmental idiot and leaves Colt 3 times without explanation so I can’t discern who’s more stupid Gwen for her irrational judgements or Colt for keeping attached to such a nasty person. Just a waste of time. The story end at 16% of the book! So let’s say I won’t try to get to the final page. Fist and last book from this author.
I absolutely loved Mine to Protect by Sarah J. Brooks. This is the story for Gwen and Colt. Gwen is a single mother whose ex left her, and joined the army, after he took her virginity and left her pregnant after she graduated high school. She moved to Chicago where she is called for jury duty and sees Colt for the first time. Colt is the owner of a construction company. When he first saw Gwen he was a defendant and she was on the jury, he was attracted to her. When Colt and Gwen meet a few days later, Gwen does not want to have anything to do with him. Colt tries to talk to Gwen and asks her out, but she refuses. Colt can’t get her out of his head so he tries to win her over. Eventually Gwen decides to give him a chance. Gwen cuts all ties with Colt without telling him why when things begin to happen and she feels threatened. Colt wants to know why and vows to find her and get her back. Will Gwen and Colt get back together? Will her past come back and ruin whatever is between her and Colt? Will Colt and Gwen get their HEA? You will have to read the book to find out. I definitely recommend this book and can’t wait to read the next book by Sarah J. Brooks.
I have been following this author for some time now. Every book she writes is better and better. This one is astounding! The characters come to life with emotion. It is a touching love story with friends, lovers and enemies. The two main characters, Gwen and Colt are soulmates drawn together in tender love and steamy sex. The plot is so well written and keeps you guessing, you won't be able to predict what comes next as you read it. Circumstances and real life seem to interfere with the happily ever after many times. For that reason I just had to keep reading until the end when I had a sigh of relief. True love and committment save the day to get to the HEA. I can not give a summary or details as it will spoil this wonderful read. If you like romance read this great book. Congratulations Sarah Brooks, if I could give more that five stars I would. I received an advanced reading copy for review and this is my unbiased review. I also purchased it. There are not many books that I like to reread and visit and this is one!
Are you looking for a book for an afternoon of rain and cold, snow or some time at the beach? Well I was and found this one from Sarah J. Brooks, it took the chill right out of the rainy day. Colt and Gwen are great characters. Gwen is from a small town and happened to get pregnant after graduation from Paul who comes across as a bit weird and stalkerish. When she tells him she's pregnant, he tells her there is something he needs to do and he will talk to her tomorrow. When he doesn't show, she goes to his house to find out he's joined the Army. Colt is a multi-billionaire who is battling an ex-employee suing him for an accident he had. When he sees Gwen at his trial as one of the jurors, there is something about her that he just can't shake. These two live in Chicago and there is an attraction that is mutual but Colt's reputation is love them and leave them and Gwen has not only herself to care for but Carrie her young daughter. Come along on their journey in finding trust, loyalty and love again. It's definitely worth your time.
Gwen was a senior when Paul Romano appeared in her life. Paul has been obsessing over her for 2 years before he invaded her life. Gwen being naive let him in and after a night together she gets pregnant, but when Paul found out about the baby he left her and join the Army. A year or so later, Gwen is trying to stand on her feet in Chicago and trying to find a job to provide for her little girl. After being called for jury duty, she meets Colt, the one the lawsuit is against. Colt is fascinated by her but she’s pushing him away, not wanting to be hurt again by a man. An attraction is formed between, while strange things begins to happen. Who is after Gwen? Can Colt really protect her? A story full of ups and downs. The mistrust Gwen showed Colt all the time was kind of frustrating, because he wasn’t anything but good to her. At the end the book felt a little hurried but overall it is a good read!
I received an ARC of this book and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review. Wow... this was one suspenseful book. Gwen just had graduated from high school was being stalked by Paul.
