I have been in love with reading since I was old enough to pick up a book. From helping Frodo save Middle Earth to screaming at Scarlett O’Hara to hurry up and realize Rhett Butler was the only man for her, books have taken me on countless adventures.

It took me much longer to realize I also love writing. For years I ignored my husband’s subtle and not-so-subtle hints that I should give writing a try. He was convinced I could do it. I wasn’t. When I finally sat down and started to put some of the stories in my head down on paper, I discovered not only could I do it, I discovered a whole new world of possibilities and adventures…a world where I could control the outcome. I’ve never been happier!

It is my sincere hope that you enjoy my writing. I’d love to hear from you whether it’s about something I’ve written or about something someone else has written and that you’ve read and loved. That’s the great thing about Goodreads…I can be a reader and a writer!

Anchored in Misty Lake is a compelling story that has you comfortable, mad, happy, and in love by the end.

This is the story of Shauna McCabe and her four older brothers. Shauna works at a bank while she works towards her dream of opening her own yoga studio and day spa. She has finally reached her goal and is ready to make that leap. Only to have her dream snatched out from under her by mega-rich Cortland Mackenzie. Mackenzie has set out to further his families holdings with a chain of yoga studios. He just so happened to choose Shauna's town and the exact location she has chosen for herself. The story takes you through the emotions felt by Shauna and her desire to escape. Throw into the mix four big brothers on the hunt for their baby sisters tormentor and you are in for one interesting ride. Will she be able to forgive this stranger and stay in her home town, or will she pack up and leave it all behind?

This was a great story that had me feeling all of Shauna's emotions and heartache. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who enjoys a love story with high emotional involvement.

I enjoyed Anchored in Misty Lake. First of all, it’s well-written in a line edit sense—no missing punctuation, weird spellings, or strange verb tenses to knock the reader from the tale. The plot is plausible, descriptions are handled well, and characters are three-dimensional.

When the tale opens, Shauna has been lining up ducks for a business idea. There’s an old property in town that’s been vacant for quite some time, and she thinks it’ll work as her yoga studio. Renovations will be required, of course, but she’s studied the budget from all angles. While there’s no such thing as a sure deal, this one looks promising enough that she’ll stake everything she owns and can borrow to make it happen.

And then some out-of-town jerk buys the building, the very same day she approaches the bank manager for a loan.

Turns out the jerk, a guy named Cort, won’t simply cash out and sell it to Shauna, either. He feels like he owes the project to his sister, who visited the town and wanted to make a yoga studio there, but died before she ever got a chance. And there’s something else in his past, some sorrow or secret that keeps Shauna from just telling him to buzz off when he makes it clear that he’s attracted to her.

This story should appeal to all lovers of clean romance, especially those who like small towns and large families.

Anchored in Misty Lake (Misty Lake, #4) by Margaret Standafer Anchored in Misty Lake by Margaret Standafer I didn’t like this book all that much…I loved it! Shauna, you feel for her when she misses the perfect opportunity at her dream, and you also feel for Cort and his mission. It’s more complicated than the small-town girl with a business dream, and the hot-shot city-slicker comes in and crushes her dream. It turns out that Cort and Shauna are two halves of the same coin and are perfect for each other.
Shauna’s brothers are like a mini football team protecting the ball, the ball being Shauna, but honestly, I wouldn’t expect it to be any other way. That’s what brothers are for, and as the only girl in the family, totally expected. However, you can tell her brothers have nothing but love for her, and her best interest at heart, especially Jake.
The standouts for me are Shauna’s great-aunts. They ROCK! Everyone should have great-aunts like them. These senior citizens are two pistols, and I enjoyed the moments with them, probably more than I should have. The other standout was Shauna bumping into the NYC’s Naked Cowboy, literally. As a native New Yorker, I confessed I laughed hard at this scene because I’ve seen it happen in real life on several occasions to tourists.
The book is beautifully written, and there are some touching moments with Cort and Shauna, like their first and second kiss. Then other moments are exceptional as well, like with the two are at Rockefeller Center in NYC on the skating rink, they let their hair down and are fun and childlike.
Did I enjoy it? Yes, I did indeed.
Would I recommend it? Yes, I would indeed.

Anchored in Misty Lake is a well-written story that took me on a beautiful and heart-warming journey that left me begging for more time in Misty Lake. The book title is perfect for the story. I empathised with our charming protagonist, Shauna McCabe from the very first chapter and was invested in her dreams and aspirations throughout the story. I loved her determination and drive and her desire to make something of her life. The family bond with her and her brothers resonated with me and I was rooting for them all. And then there was Cortland Mackenzie, a handsome and hardworking businessman with the charm that goes with it. I’m a huge romantic and I looked forward to every scene these two were together. The dialogue between them was amazing. I loved seeing their relationship grow and develop. The Yoga studio brought them together but love and mutual respect sealed their hearts. The characters are well-developed, the descriptions are vivid, the dialogue is on point and the setting is well-done. The author has a real talent for telling a story and capturing every scene so it’s as vivid to the reader as it is in the author’s mind. Kudos to her. And I loved the ending. An absolute must-read!

I love this series!

This series is so good. I don't want it to end. Couldn't there be more books, like with Dylan at Claire and the other grandkids?

Anchored In Misty Lake is a feel-good, gentle romance with a touch of mystery. The characters were well fleshed out. I enjoyed reading the ups and downs of Shauna and Cort's relationship - their journey to happiness was romantic and satisfying.

There was a real sense of family and small town life in this story, which added depth to the novel, making it easy for me to fully engage with the world of Misty Lake created by the author.

Anyone who loves clean, small-town romances, will definitely enjoy reading Anchored In Misty Lake.

Very good

Another excellent romantic read. Shauna meets Cort and their tortuous path to their happy ending begins. Misunderstandings, past tragedy and misinformation get in the way but eventually there is the perfect happy ending

I loved Shauna’s adventure!

I loved how Shauna followed her dream and got there in a round about way. The way Cort worked his way into her life, kept you guessing. The importance of family in this series is something that drew me to read more.

I enjoyed this book, but not as much as the others in this series. I really do like the way the author brings the characters to life, though.
