Hundreds in the Valley and in Craigston have died at the hands of ex-Arcadian guards who have made camp south of the Heights. They are the remnants of the evil Adrien hired and trained to be just as cold and ruthless as he was.

Arryn has hunted them down, planning to end their terror.

The problem? She’s not the only one searching for them, and her problem has just gotten much bigger.

Storm Raiders have found their way south and have joined with Esmerelda, the new leader of the ex-Arcadian army. Now, Arryn must find a way to put an end to all the destruction and help a strange, new race of people who have suffered great loss at the Raiders’ hands.

I originally received the "complete" 7-book series in 2019. I remembered reading it and enjoying most of it. Hence, I decided to re-read the series this year without reading my review for the box set. However, I just remembered why after enjoying most of this series, I lowered the rating by 2 stars. Now, I'm not sure if this was a Candy Crum decision or if it was the publisher, but this has happened to me twice this year. Forgive me if I utter a few expletives, but why should that be a problem when the series I just read was laced with them.

How do you have the temerity of selling a "complete" series and in the last book communicate that there is more. And you leave me with a cliffhanger!?! WTF! Are you kidding me? Where's my payoff? I am well aware that the writing may go overlong because you get inspired or there's more story to tell with this set of characters. OK, I get that, but what about the person that bought your series of stories as a "complete set?" And I bought the set, after Crum finished the series, so she was well aware that her books were incomplete when they were marketed as 7 books, not eight.

Where's my coupon for a free book 8? Where's the apology for getting the number of books wrong? I feel like someone took advantage of me and didn't even bother to give me some affection afterwards. Bleep you, Ms. Crum. Bleep you, Mr. Anderle. I will never buy another book by either of you again.

Yet another thoroughly enjoyable book from the series.

Arryn and her friends are on their way to Kemet, to help her friends, Bast and Cleo, to rid their home of Monsters and, after all the help the twins had given her, Arryn was determined to reciprocate.

Unfortunately, they are waylaid by the Daoine, a group of humans that were slowly, but surely, adapting to living in, and under, the sea.

Mistaking Arryn and her friends for a group of Storm Callers, who had rampaged, murdered, and stole from them. Their leader, Lorelei, was just about to kill them all, but Arryn prevented this from happening.

When she learned what had been happening to the small villages along the coast, Arryn is determined to catch, and kill, the people responsible. But, in order to do that, she finds she needs the help of other Storm Callers, who have been trying to catch, and stop, the first group, who were doing so much harm.

I really enjoyed reading about other groups, on Irth, who are developing their magical powers in their own way, and I'm hoping to read of more to come, when I get to read the eighth, and last, book of this series - but that won't be yet, as my reading list is directing me back to the New Dawn series, to read book number five: Broken Skies so, sadly, it'll be some time until I get back to this series.

I love this series!

This was the first set of stories that I read in the KGU outside the original Bethany Anne storyline. Very different worlds in the same place. I can’t wait till the QB comes home and ties them together! I’m expecting Techno Magic awesomeness!
After book six I despaired a bit cause seven was a bit later than I’m used to waiting for KGU books. I spent the time wisely by reading everything else in the universe storyline. Some twice! Then Candy’s other books (read them they rock!!) Then Michael Todd books and all the Oriceran universe books. They’re a great fun read too! I usually review out with “great characters and strong storyline/plot” but this group of writers that Michael Anderle has put together is worth more. Like “Compelling Characters! Intricate amazing arcs with Plot lines that positively pulsate!”
Anyways, read them all you won’t be disappointed!

Great story!

The character are so well developed and grow stronger with each book. I love how they were able to be in the Heights just in time to defeat the attacking ex-guards from Arcadia. There are many laugh out loud moments. Enough action and adventure to satisfy any reader. Like Hannah before her, Arryn has been able to add mystic magic to her already starting physical and druid magic. While this one was completely worth the long wait, I hope the next will be coming soon! Read the book through in one setting and highly recommend! (Couldn't resist adding a few exclamations!) 😄

learning to help

Corrine is growing up and wants to help protecting the Forest. granted her wish to begin training, Arryn finds she is good with a knife and with healing. but none of this will stop the hoard who now has some additional friends. just remember, don't make Arryn angry.

oh, so waiting for the next book. i'm looking forward to Arryn's adventures on another continent.

Candy never disappoints!!!

Tales of the Feisty Druid is how I found the KGU!!!
Her book popped up on my Kindle, the name of it got my attention and the cover sealed the deal!!! Keep writing!!! It's definitely your thing!!!
BTW, I, too, suffer from everyone complaining about my love of exclamation marks!!! It's just how I show my excitement and joy in writing. I never use them with negative comments, don't know why.
Very nice to hear you bought your childhood home!!!

Druids, storm callers, and a new tribe of water magic folk

It’s a delight to explore more of Irth and how magic/nanocytes are developing in different people. Favorite moments- glass slide down the mountain(the best!) and sand magic and magic for swimming. And of course the ever present goofy banter.

The bad guys felt a little shallow-all evil all the time- but this is a light hearted book after all, and it’s nice to have good guys with depth and humor.

More is revealed...

So much is happening, and another journey is about to start!!! I'm loving the new characters, cooperation between good people, and the baddies being crushed. Imaginative solutions and hilarious jokes in the midst of action makes it even better. Awesome series.

WHEN IS THE NEXT BOOK BEING RELEASED?!?!?!?!?!

Great book

Steyn is really kicking but and get powers are growing. Corinne is no slouch either. They faced powerful women in this one and realized again that evil can be anyone. Love the storm raiders cross over.

Best of the series so far

Another great story. Lots of action and the bad guys and girls get their just desserts. Serum just gets stronger and stronger. Let's hope you it won't be so long before the next installment.

Another Winner

Of all the strong heroines in the various KGU series, I think Arryn, is the one that moves me the most, once I start one of her stories I cannot put it down until I have finished it. Well Done Candy and thank you.

Action, action

This book has a lot but the story and characters are great as always. I love the heroine and her hero sidekick. There were in one book, what's someone to do. Read, read and read. Enjoy!

Very nicely done, Ms Crum. Arryn and the gang travel north to aid the Rearick against the bandits. She visits the mystics and furthers her own mental magic and it will be needed in the coming attack

Love the Feisty Druid

The Feisty Druid is one of my favorite spinoffs from the Kurtherian Gambit series. The characters all make me laugh and cry and really root for them. I love their magic and the way they use it to fight the bad guys. Cannot wait for the next one.
