WESSON, THE PUPPY WHISPERER

I enjoyed this clean Christian based story that is an addition to the contemporary Lawkeepers series and also one of the K-9 stories. There is a great cast of characters along with two special people and some of their personal issues that will become involved in a relationship. The story is clean with Christian principles, faith, but isn’t preachy.

Officer Cindy Lance was accepted into the K-9 unit and is ready to start training with her new K-9 partner. She is also part of the forensic unit. After losing a childhood friend to a senseless murder, and a crime that was never solved because of compromised evidence, she is hoping to make a difference. Now she must get through her training, and that includes dealing with Mad-dog Wesson.

“Mad-dog Wesson was a myriad of things. Gorgeous, ornery, angry, smiling, and simply sexy as could be.”

Enoch “Mad-dog” Wesson trains canines for the various precincts in the police department. He is ready to start with a new group, one that will include one female. He doesn’t’ go easy on the handlers, and that includes a pretty little blond who challenges him every chance she gets. He had been in the military and worked with a K-9 and disarming bombs in Iraq. He is a haunted man from war and loss.

“You’re welcome. You told me to clean up, and I listened. Just like the dogs, right? Command and obey?”

The story will cover some of the issues that are part of the training of human and dogs to work together like a well-oiled team. The lives of both are on the line during a crisis, and it is Wesson who must ensure that there won’t be trouble between these officers and their K-9. Even to the point that he will have to prove his point with her, her dog, and her response. “Prepare for the unknown.”

“You are fierce and determined at work. You believe in what is just and question when things go wrong. And you like coffee.”

What seems to be a bit of angst at the beginning, will change into an attraction. When Wesson tries to be nice, she is confused. They have a way of rubbing each other the wrong way for a while, but eventually, that will change. Toward the end of the training, they go out on a few dates which always includes the K-9 Duchess.

Just as her training ends, an emergency situation with a missing child calls Duchess and Officer Lance into the field. Emotions are high, a child’s safety hangs in the balance, and this isn’t a test, it is the real deal. How well with the officer and K-9 work together? When they are confronted with danger, seconds make a difference, lives are on the line, and actions must be made quickly without second-guessing. Will this bring up problems for Wesson and Cindy personally?

“You did fine. You were there in case something went wrong, but I had to stand on my own two feet and do this. You gave me that strength. Don’t be afraid of living and loving because you are afraid to lose someone. That’s part of life. I would rather have a thousand days with you than to have never met. You are my life. Don’t ever leave me or run away. If you need to escape, take me with you and let me be there in your light.”

The story includes remembering, accepting change, dealing with PTSD and loss. It is also a great lesson in living life and accepting that sometimes bad things happen to good people. Each day is a gift that needs to be lived and cherished.

This book was fantastic! It was definitely one of my favorites in this Lawkeeper series. These books aren't connected to each other but they are all about law enforcement and I have loved every one I have read. One of my favorite types of heroes is the "irritating, almost 'jerk' type guy" that is really a softie at heart but either is covering up a bad past or is in defense mode. That is the type of hero we have in Enoch Wesson, the main character in Lawfully Challenged. You want to dislike him so badly but you know there has to be a reason why he acts the way he does! Then there is Officer Cindy Lance who is a determined new K-9 officer and she's just the opposite! She gets along with everyone, except Enoch Wesson! He picks on her constantly during K-9 training and seems to single her out and she doesn't understand why. I loved these characters! They were so realistic. Their story will have you cheering and you may even shed a tear or two at the end. I loved the epilogue! I highly recommend this book!

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review. These opinions are entirely mine.

Another delightful book in a wonderful series, I just love this short sweet clean read. Cindy hopes to make a difference she decided to make this her career after a childhood friend died and things were not done right. Getting through training is hard enough but add Mad-dog and things just got a lot tougher. Both are haunted from their past with Mad-dog he was in the military saw so much pain, sorrow and loss. He need to make the best team possible, she needs to do it right. They go together like oil and water but the chemistry is off the charts.

The author did her research she goes into vivid detail on the training of handlers and K-9 dogs. I really enjoyed how this was displayed giving an in-depth look at their world. The author gives you danger as the unit goes into a job where things get difficult putting lives on the line. The author gives a wonderful story with strong male and female characters, near death which is exciting, real and full of fun.

In Episode 37: Lawfully Challenged: Inspirational Christian Contemporary: A K-9 Lawkeeper Romance by Ginny Sterling, Cops that are dogs and dogs that are cops co-star in this sex-less Christian romance with an unreasonably long title! This story tries to cash in on the cross section of people who are Christian, fetishize men in uniform, and are really into dogs.

Much to our surprise, the writing and story were just plain instead of being outright terrible and the author's Christian sentiments were obvious but not overbearing. Still, this is a waste of your precious reading time unless you're looking for a clean Christian romance novella.

Cindy is excited to start working as a K9 Officer but why does she needs to be trained by Enoch?
Why is Cindy attracted to someone who isn’t very nice and has always something to complain about?
Then he wants to date her. Can she handle these mixed emotions? And what about trust?
And when it really gets serious, has she the strength to do her job?
I really enjoyed this book about respect, trust and love. This is such a fun series that I really recommend.

I enjoyed this story and it is very well-written. I love the K-9 aspect of the story and how well Cindy learns her dog and does her job. Her instructor and new boyfriend has to overcome the fact that Cindy is a law enforcement officer and the field can be dangerous. This is a reverse of most stories of law enforcement and had a very natural take.

This story was really great. I love that Cindy and Enoch clashed in the beginning of the K-9 training class. He seemed so hard on her as the only female in the class. Turns out he really likes her and just wants her to be safe. This story takes you through Cindy training with her dog and then the relationship with Cindy and Enoch.

Touching

A tough yet heart touching story. There is so much pain from trauma in so many lives. The tough keep going and growing and giving. This story is like that, challenging to grow and keep going when things don't always go as expected. Truly love the depth of emotions in this book, and best of all - is the happy ending for all. A deeper read than normal.

Cindy and Enoch meet at a K9 officer training course. He's in charge of the dogs and seems to have forgotten how to talk to people. Judging by how tough he is on her, he does not like her at all. Maybe he's hoping she'll quit?

The characters are great. They have realistic strengths and flaws. The twists in the story were awesome, too. I really enjoyed this short story!

Cute and sweet K-9

This was a cute and sweet K-9 romance. I loved the K-9 elements! The characters were relatable. This was sweet and clean, I'd rate it PG, with some elements of expected police work, missing child case, etc.

Who would have thought Princess and Mad Dog would make a perfect pair. Sometimes a love language is harder to read than at others. Ginny Sterling has done her usual good job bring us a story with action, humor, romance and a touch of faith.

Too Short

This story (and all the others in the Lawkeepers series) has only one bad thing -- they aren't long enough. In the future please make sure they are longer!!

Enoch and Cindy

I enjoyed this spirited romance. Cindy doesn't take gruff from anyone being a policeman. A K9 position becomes available but the trainer is gruffer than her! - Babs

This is a short, sweet, clean Christian story that left a smile on my face. Cindy and Enoch clash at the beginning of the K-9 training class. She thinks he is being hard on her because she is the only woman, but he actually likes her and wants to make sure she and her dog are safe. There is some excitement when a child is abducted and Cindy faces a bad situation, but she remembers her training and follow her training which results in a good result.

Exciting story! I could totally relate to the military as well as the police side as this enchanting romance took off! I had to look up the dog breed, since I was unfamiliar with it, and ended up watching an incredible YouTube video! Amazing dogs; scaling walls and climbing trees!

Cindy is a police officer who loves her job. She is so excited when she is promoted to be a K9 cop. From the first day of training, while she loves her new partner, Duchess, she has her doubts about her training officer Enoch "Mad-Dog". His nickname fits him perfect, as he pushes her to the limit. When he asks her out for ice cream, she realises there is kindness under his gruff exterior. When a little girl vanishes, Cindy and Duchess are called in to lead the search. Will Cindy and Duchess find the little girl, without loosing their lives? Will Enoch's love save her, or will it destroy her?

This is a good Christian romance. It is sweet, clean and wholesome. I received a copy of this book from the author, and this is my honest opinion.
