Salvation Pack #9

Wolf of Her Own

Rate this book

Mikhail Matheson may be an outsider in Salvation, but he stays with the pack to be close to his sister. It has nothing to with the fact that Elise—the most fascinating woman he’s ever laid eyes on—is part of the pack. Mikhail has wanted Elise for years, but being with her could cost him his life. Soon he’ll have to decide if he’s going to leave the pack or risk it all to pursue a place at her side.

After escaping her abusive mate, Elise LaForge has made a home in Salvation with her sons. She never expected to have her emotions stirred up by the always serious and seriously handsome Mikhail. But can she finally put her past behind her and dare to move on?

When danger creeps into the pack, both she and Mikhail have to be willing to sacrifice everything to have a chance at love.

Each book in the Salvation Pack series is a standalone story that can be enjoyed in any order.

ARC received for review

I've only read one other book in this series, but each one is a stand alone with over lapping characters.

This is an older woman and man romance (both are in their 60s), but it never seems like they are old. Must be all the shifter blood that keeps them young. Elise is the mama to the alpha and Mikhail is older brother to another member of the pack. Elise's previous mate was an arsehole to the nth degree and . Mikhail takes his time in overcoming all of her fears and phobias. A beautiful romance with just a chapter or two with a bad guy to take care of.

So many feels…

I believe this is the last story in the Salvation Pack series, I hope that isn’t true, but if it is what a great way to end things with Mikhail and Elise! These characters have always been supportive of their family and seeing them find love makes my heart happy. They are older, perhaps wiser, but no matter the age, deserving of love, of each other…

“She was as necessary to his survival as air and water and food.”

Mikhail came to the pack with his sister but hoped he could become a true member in his own right. He felt he could make a real home with Elise, but she has not moved past the brutality of her previous marriage. Elise is a mother, a grandmother, beloved by her family and friends but she misses something she never had – a loving intimate relationship. Drawn to Mikhail, but haunted by her memories, she struggles to let go of the past and move forward...

“The past still has a hold on me. I wish it didn’t, but it does.”

There’s a lot of back and forth between these two and all of it - every courtship moment, every push and pull was tinged with love and fear, apprehension and commitment. Throw in unfinished pack business and some danger to open their eyes meant there were no quiet moments at all. Lots of angst, some unexpected danger, but lots of love meant another great read in this series. ~Diane, 4.5 stars

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I don’t own this book yet, but I think I’m going to collect this series too! I do have one so far!

The cover looks so emotional!

This is the 9th book in the Salvation Pack series, but it is only the first book in this series that I’m reading. I’m going to have to collect and read them all. This book is for adults only due to the steamy content. This book does touch of sensitive topics like abuse, rape, and what comes after. I wanted to make you aware because you know you best and how to handle books with these topics. You can read this book as a standalone, but I’m betting that it would be even better if you knew the pack and the world better by reading them all.

Mikhail is sort of an outsider in the Salvation Pack. They let him stay for his sister. Elise is the alpha’s mother, and she has had a rough life. She has been peacefully existing with her son’s pack for the last 10 years until Mikhail shakes things up. This book definitely had me crying for Elise. This book is an emotionally rollercoaster filled with trouble along the way. They are both trying to navigate and come out the other side. I was pulled into the story and couldn’t put it down.

I highly recommend to any shifter fan who wants a great action-packed story that makes you feel something with an HEA at the end! I can’t wait to read more by this author!!

Release Day Review! Wolf of Her Own (Salvation Pack #9) N. J. Walters!

Mikhail Matheson came to Salvation for his sister, but he stayed for Elise LaForge. She’s the alpha’s mother and the most fascinating woman he’s ever laid his eyes on. He’s wanted her from the first moment he saw her. He may feel like an outsider in the pack, but there’s no way he can leave when he’s sure Elise is his mate. Elise’s made a home in North Carolina with her adult sons and their pack. It’s taken her a long time to get over the years she spent with her abusive mate, and while she’s content now, she can’t help but feel there’s something missing in her life. Mikhail stirs emotions in her she never expected to feel, and the attraction between them is off the charts. But Elise’s not sure how her sons and the pack will react, not to mention the danger the pack is facing.

The Salvation Pack is back with another spectacular romance.

Elise and Mikhail are two very strong and captivating characters that have wonderful chemistry and easily draw readers into their story. The romance is sweet but the relationship has quite an obstacle to be overcome, one with lots of emotional turbulence that has readers empathizing with the characters and wanting to help them along and of course, the story has blazing hot passion that keeps the pages heated throughout as this couple works hard for their happily ever after.

This fast paced story keeps readers on their toes with lots of anticipation and excitement not only because Mikhail really has to work hard to win Elise over but because another alpha comes for a visit and brings quite a bit of emotional trouble and thrilling danger to the pack.

Another words, A Wolf of Her Own is a romance that has it all, fantastic characters and a romance that not only fulfills every heart’s desire, packs quite a punch.  I always enjoy my visits to the Salvation Pack, which captured my heart from the very beginning because the characters are easily connected to and ensure that readers want to know how everything works out for each of them in their bid for happiness after overcoming such a heart breaking past and readers can’t help but become enamored of each of the pack members who show such enormous courage and a great strength of character that readers want each and every one to have a happily ever after.

Reviewed for Romancing the Readers Blog: https://romancingthereaders.blogspot....

One of the things I really hate to do is read books out of order. So what did I do with this one? You guessed it, read it out of order. Way out of order. It's book #9! I don't know where my mind was when I agreed to review this one.

I guess the craziness going on with my very ill mother is playing around with my mind. But since I did I went along for the ride.

This is my first time reading N. J. Walters and I have to say that I enjoyed it. I liked the fact that they are both older, of course being paranormal the word older doesn't mean the same as it does to us, but all the same you felt their age. Silly I know, but that's how I felt.

I understood why Elise felt the way she did and why she was reluctant to jump into anything. I'm so glad that Mikhail was so sweet with her. The romance in this book just rocks!

For the most part this book can be read on it's own. It only slightly touches on prior characters of course for me that always drives me crazy that's why I read in order. Ha! The story slowed at times but not enough to make you get pissed about it.

I'm glad I gave this one a chance and will have to go back to the beginning of this series someday and read them in order. Well worth the read!

Mikhail moved to Salvation for family, his sister, but she isn't the reason he stayed. Elisa is. Her son is the alpha and she herself fascinates Mikhail. He's wanted her since first laying eyes on her. He knows he's an outsider, something he really can't forget, but he refuses to leave without his mate.

Elisa is at peace now in her new home with her grown sons, but the past can never be completely forgotten, at least not the abuse she suffered at the hands of her mate. She's safe and content, but not as happy as she should be. Something's missing, or should she say someone? Mikhail makes her feel things she's never experienced and their chemistry cannot be denied.

As Mikhail and Elisa realize fighting what they feel for one another is impossible, they must face the possible obstacles in their journey to forever, such as her sons and the pack, not to mention the danger coming for all of them.

What happens when Mikhail and Elisa explore the bond between them? Will Elisa's sons and the pack accept their mating? Can Mikhail keep Elisa safe? Is a HEA possible?

One-click now and follow along as two people must decide whether to accept fate and be together or risk upsetting those who may be against it.

Good read. It seemed to go a tad slow. I know it had to, to be realistic. Elise went through abuse and it would take time to overcome it. Mikhail was a saint, a true saint, to be so patient and put off his gratification like he did. He was every girl’s dream he put Elise first in all things and needs. Now they both were middle aged, but they were written like they were not.

Good read. Received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley.

Let me start with the author's disclosure of 'each book in the Salvation Pack series is a standalone story that can be enjoyed in any order'. Yeah, I vote no on that one. Each book builds on each other and while you MAY read them out of order, you really should start from the beginning. Especially before getting to this book, because without prior knowledge, you won't know what Elise went through. Heck, what any of the characters went through but mainly Elise.

Happy endings. Don't you just love them? That's exactly what Wolf of Her Own is giving me. A nice happy ending. For the series, for the characters and especially for Elise. Her previous mate, the abuse her and others suffered through, that's all over and now it's time for Elise to be happy. And her happy is being near her family, being able to make her own decisions, and learning to not live in fear. Even though he's not a member, Mikhail stays with the Salvation pack to be close with his sister. Keep telling yourself that Mikhail, we all know the truth. You got your eye on Elise. You know the now single mother of the pack leader. Is he going to live dangerously and risk being with her or leave the pack? Decisions, decisions.

Actually, there's no decision there to be made. Elise and Mikhail are perfect for each other. There's a nice build-up between them as they work on their issues. Mostly hers as she has fears and apprehensions to overcome. He's oh so sweet in his patience taking his time with her. *Sighs* That's not to say things don't get interesting between them *Wiggles eyebrows*

Is there going to be more to the series, I'm not sure. There was a nice finality to Wolf of Her Own that makes me think that there won't be. All the bows feel tied, everybody is mated, and the sun is setting with on a high note. For me, I am done with the series if, for nothing else, I am enjoying the peace and emotional high this book has offered. Kudos Ms. Walters!

Angela – ☆☆☆☆☆
Even though I stayed up until 2:30 am reading, I actually saved the final three chapters for this morning. I had finally reached the point in the book where I felt confident that Mikhail and Elise were going to get their happily ever after. Yes, my friends, the mere knowledge that N.J. Walters always delivers a happy ending was not enough this time around. I know, I know. I knew there would be a happy ending, but Elise came to Salvation with enough baggage to fill the Spruce Goose and hadn’t shed much of it in the decade since joining her sons in North Carolina. So, Mikhail not only faced the displeasure of Elise’s sons, one of whom is the pack alpha who has the authority to send him away from Salvation, but he also had to prove to Elise that he wasn’t anything like her abusive, former mate or the majority of male werewolves she’d known all her life. No easy feat there and Walters certainly put these two through the wringer.

Having just read the previous two books in the series in preparation for reading Wolf of Her Own, I was excited to begin reading – so much so that I rearranged the blog calendar so that I could read it first. While I easily remembered Miss Elise, I’m not sure that I would have been as quick to recall Mikhail’s importance, even after being reminded that he was Rina’s older brother (who was more like a father to her). So, while newbies can easily read this as a standalone, series fans might want to give Wolf in His Heart a quick skim to refresh your memory. Either way, I loved watching Elise find herself again. After escaping decades of physical and emotional abuse by Pierre, her former mate, Elise has built a quiet, solitary life at Salvation, enjoying time spent with her sons, their mates, their children, and other pack members. But when Mikhail finally makes his interest known, she realizes that her past still haunts her and Pierre has a stranglehold on her from beyond the grave. Fortunately for Elise, and the reader, Mikhail is in his sixties (remember, that’s not old for a werewolf) and he possesses the patience and determination that comes from not only living that long, but also comes with working with humans, and playing a big role in the raising of his sister. And he needed every ounce of patience and then some when it came to courting Elise. It’s not that she set out to make it difficult for him, but rather she had so many unknown triggers that moving slow was the only way to proceed. But Mikhail not only accepted that challenge, he counted every obstacle overcome along the way as a win for both him and Elise because at the end of the day, Mikhail is as much a nurturer as Elise is.

One of the benefits of the slower pace of their courtship is that I felt I got to know both characters better. As Mikhail worked to coax Elise out of her protective shell, we got to watch her bloom and become the woman she was meant to be – full of love, full of life, and full of humor. The pie cutting scene alone made the book worthy of five stars. It’s been a while since I laughed like that over a scene that could have easily played out in my sister’s house during the holidays. Much like Mikhail, I was inordinately pleased when Elise began to tease him, even more so when she disagreed with him without hesitation. The changes in her were clear signs to Mikhail and the reader that Elise was comfortable with him and having him in her life – even if it took her far too long and the appearance of a dangerous threat for her to realize it. Of course, the final chapters I read this morning were the perfect ending to the book. I did not expect Walters to use several jumps in time to pack quite so much into the ending and it worked spectacularly. I loved that I got to see those glimpses into their happiness together and can only hope that Etienne’s declaration means there are more books to come. Well done, Walters, it’s not often that I find myself waking up on a Monday morning and having something to smile about so big that my cheeks hurt.

Aww . . . Mikhail is such a brilliant character - definitely an Alpha but so patient and caring yet strong and resilient!  He’s brought up his sister and she’s the initial reason he’s in Salvation but he’s stayed after seeing Elise LaForge and being attracted to her. However, he doesn’t act on that attraction as she is the mother of the pack Alpha and her now dead mate was extremely abusive so she’s definitely not looking for another mate - in fact she’s an expert at keeping herself to herself. She’s very aware of Mikhail but the barriers she’s built around herself to protect and keep her safe will take a lot of wearing down and she’ll really need to trust someone to even start that process . . . .

This is a lovely paranormal romance with two older werewolves learning to trust and love. Mikhail really does court Elise, their romance is heartwarming and sweet as he is just so considerate of her all the time - the antithesis of her first mate! The reactions of her sons and other members of the pack are so well portrayed, it was so easy to empathise with them! There’s danger, too, that threatens them, adding to the drama in this beautiful romance. I haven’t read any other books in this series before but that didn’t stop me loving this story and  I’ll certainly be looking up others in the series in future.

I requested and was given a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

Yay, older characters finding love! OK they might look like they are my age but they are werewolves so are actually in their 60's!

Mikhail has been living with the Salvation Pack since his sister married into it. He feels he should move on now she is settled but something is holding him back...or should that be someone. Elise is everything he wants in a mate but she is the Alpha's mother. She is also a domestic abuse survivor. He really wants to brink that fecker back to life so he can kill him himself!

Elise has ensconced herself in a safe little bubble. She has the respect and protection of the pack but with the exception of family she is still kind of removed from them by her status as Alpha's mother. Her cabin is well away from everyone and they treat her with kid gloves. But is this what she needs to move forward with her life? Companionship if not love would go a long way to soothe her loneliness.

Mikhail could be just who she needs but she doesn't want to be under anyone's thumb again and she doesn't know if she can be fully mated to someone like Mikhail, someone who can make her feel.

I haven't read this series before (how the heck did that happen!!!) but I was soon neck deep in the world and invested in both the story and the characters. The domestic abuse thread is handled with love, care and attention and whilst a victim, Elise is not in any way shape or form a weak characters, she has a spine of steel when needed. I loved the way the pack took her and Mikhail to their collective hearts and banded around them.

The scene with the "bad guy" had me choking back tears and cheering at the same time. I loved the way Elise refused to be cowed. I am going to have to get the rest of the series now - one click it is has struck again and the wish list has probably grown by a good few too!!!

Wolf of her Own by N.J. Walters
Salvation Pack #9

You know that story that ends and you wish you could stay with the characters just a little bit longer? I felt that I would have liked to stay with Mikhail and Elise…and the rest of the Salvation Pack…and gotten to know them all a bit better….perhaps become their friends or a member of their pack. I suppose that means I will need to see if I can find the first eight books in the series so I *can* get to know them better ;)

This is a story of two older werewolves given the chance to find love and mate. Mikhail knew Elise was for him when he first saw her but with her rough past he also knew he would need to pick his time to woo her carefully. That said, when he made his move…OH MY!

Mikhail is a man that one would want for their own and I loved the way he was patient, generous and caring as he courted Elise. Elise was one of the strongest heroines I have met in a book and her growth from a bit repressed to the wolf she was meant to be was a pleasure to observe. I wish the two of them long lives and all the happiness life has to offer!

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing-Amara for the ARC – This is my honest review.

~I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.~

This is the 9th book of the Salvation Pack series. I must say, this is a book that is really worth waiting for.

From the start, till the end, I was so giddy with each turn of the page. There was the right amount of conversation, and thoughts, that it did not overwhelm each of the scene in every chapter.

What touched my heart, was the purity of the emotions Mikhail and Elise as you progress. The pain from the past, and the fear to reach out for the future. You will experience a roller coaster of emotions, yet in the end, the satisfaction is there.

The Salvation Pack has grown. Each member grew up from the first till this book. Their relationship is evident on how they take care of their own. Yet Ms. Walters, took it a step further.

I salute you for creating such a wonderful book.

Fact: I was also reading the Hades' Carnival series, while I was reading this book. I saw the changes of her writing style. I must applaud her, as a reader of her books, the chance to read her older books, gave me a glimpse on how she wrote before. She improved, and her improvement was outstanding. I look forward to reading the Drakon 5th book!

This is one of my absolute favorite series and this is the book I had been “patiently” waiting for. Mikhail and Elise were just a sweet couple. Mikhail being Rina’s brother and Elise being the alpha, Jacques mom. Jacques dad was a real piece of work and treated his family horrible. The abuse Elise went through at the hands of that man was heart wrenching. Mikhail is so protective and patient with her that it makes my heart happy. This is a book about them, and the steps they go through to achieve the hea they both want....and deserve.

We get a great story, safe read, no ow drama, but a little om and/or book drama, but Mikhail works that out. We get a protective and patient alpha male and a sweet, deserving of an hea, female. Love seeing this pack/family and their little ones growing up. There’s baby batter, a wonderful surprise, an epilogue and an hea. Definitely one of my favorite series, fingers crossed there will be more. Thank you N.J. Walters for writing this great series and creating such a wonderful pack.

More like 3.75* This is a few months after Sage and Reese both get their books. Mikhail finally decides to make his move on Elise. That is where this series ends. There is a spin off series but my library does not have those audiobooks on hoopla or libby so for now I am done with the Salvation Pack. I like this author and will read/listen to other things from her.

This book was definitely not what I expected but turned out to be a wonderful read. Both characters are older and Elise has had a past history of abuse, so watching these two find each other and happiness was very satisfying.

Mikhail and Elise proved to be perfect for one another. Mikhail had the patience of a saint – knowing enough about Elise’s past to give her space and the time she needed, but also knowing when to press a bit so they could move forward. With Elise being the mother of the pack Alpha, Mikhail knew that pack politics would come in to play, but he also knew that Elise had to be willing to stand up for them as a couple if they were going to have a future. Elise has had a very abusive past. The things she has gone through broke my heart. I loved seeing her come back in to herself and rediscover and find who she is and who she wants to be. I wanted to cheer every time she did something to help break free from the demons of her past.

I really enjoyed getting to know the rest of the Salvation Pack. I haven’t read any of the other stories in this series but had no trouble reading this as a stand-alone. There were many other characters introduced and just enough backstory was given to not overwhelm with details but keep the story moving. I always love the family that is the pack, and because of, or maybe in spite of, the history of all the pack members this pack had a warmth and emotion that made me smile and often times had me chuckling.

There wasn’t a lot of action to this story – just a bit of drama at the end and a really good fight scene - so this one moved a bit slower than I typically like, but the romance was touching and satisfying so that more than made up for it.

I would definitely recommend this one and look forward to checking out other books in this series.

I have loved the Salvation Pack series from the beginning, and I was so excited to see that Elise gets the happy ending she’s so deserved for so many years. Elise is a strong woman, she had to be to survive her abusive mate (who got everything that piece of crap deserved in an earlier book) – it might not be easy to see her as a strong woman but it shows in so many small and important ways. She’s a mother, a grandmother and a vital part of the Salvation Pack. She might be getting older but she still dreams of the one thing she’s never known… a loving, intimate relationship with a man who loves her exactly as she is. Thankfully, that dream is about to come true for this amazing woman.

Mikhail is perfect for Elise. He values the woman she is now and to be her mate would be his ultimate joy in life. First, he needs to do some courting and maybe convincing that Elise deserves the kind of happiness they could find together. Yes, there are obstacles, and a danger to the entire pack to be faced but ultimately this is Elise’s story, her chance to shine and be loved as she should have always been. If you’ve followed the Salvation Pack series then Wolf of her Own is a story you’ll want to read. I don’t know if this series is coming to a close, but if it ended here then I’d be satisfied with the wonderful journey I’ve taken with these characters… and I can always hope for more, right?

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Review Copy from the Publisher

In this new opus in the Salvation Pack series, we have something that rarely happens in romances: the characters are not youngsters just starting adult life. The heroine is in fact the mother of the alpha and hero from the first volume! Just that deserves a good point.

Elise had a difficult life with her violent companion. After his death she found a safe place in the pack created by her sons, but she’s beginning to realize everyone treats her like fragile porcelain. So the fact a male is interested in her not just to protect her disturbs and intrigues her while frightening her at the same time. The few scenes where she withdraws in her head by reflex made me sad for her, and I really liked seeing her coming out of her shelf little by little.

Mikhail is a darling. Even if he’s an alpha male, he deploys a wealth of patience toward Elise, he’s only tenderness and little attentions. Frankly it’s a nice change from males pounding on their chests while growling “mine” (even if he says it too from time to time).

Because of Elise’s past don’t expect a lot of steamy love scenes as we’re used to, instead there is a lot of sensuality between them and most of all a lot of tenderness.

I really liked how the heroine’s sons react when they learn about the relationship between their mother and a man. I think a lot of people would react more badly when they realize their parent is still able to have sexual desires.

To conclude a volume different and more tender that usual but it fits well with the rest of the series.

Where do I find the nearest wolf pack?

I loved this book! Elise is the mother of the alpha of the pack and has one other older son. She is no longer with their father, who was very abusive to her. While everyone in the pack loves her, she is very lonely with no man in her life. Enter Mikhail, an older wolf, who had thought to never have a family of his own. He has been attracted to Elise since he first set eyes on her and the time has come to act on his desires.

I have read none of the books within this series previously. Despite my lack of knowledge of the characters, I felt like the author did a good job of introducing them without too much backstory. If anyone she piqued my interest enough to make me want to dive into the other books in this series.

I loved the fact that the characters were older and still incredibly sexy and steamy. I feel there are not enough books written like this and enjoyed the idea that despite their age Elise and Mikhail could find love and build a family.

I loved the men in the pack and how much they cherished the women. All of the women were made to feel special and I really appreciated that. I know that women can be strong and independent but it's nice to have a partner who thinks that you need a little bit of extra attention.

I highly recommend this book.

Wolf of Her Own by N.J. Walters is part of the Salvation Pack Series. I was excited to be able to read an early copy. One reason is I enjoy paranormal romance including the Salvation Pack Series in the past. More importantly this was a couple especially the female lead who had some maturity and grace. It was a good story just not the great one I was looking forward to reading.

Mikhail Matheson has been an outsider to the Salvation Pack since his sister joined. He had come there for her but has stayed as a visitor not joining. Now it is time for him to make a decision about the future. This is not really a spoiler since it is the opening chapter of the book. His interest lies in the pack alpha’s mother, Elise LaForge. Sha has been alone for some time choosing to raise and stay near her sons. This is Elisa and Mikhail’s story.

I liked both of them mostly but found Mikhail, less of a gracious character. I was put off by him when on the first page he refers to Elisa in explicit sexual tones. I am aware that these are sexual creatures which is part of the story-line. I just wish the first view of his mind had not been so blatant. I liked him less for this, especially since my first impression of a character seems to stick with me as I read. Still all in all, it is an enjoyable book.

3.5 Stars
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m a little sad to say goodbye to this wonderful and interesting group of characters. While I’m happy that everyone ultimately gets their HEA, I could read a bunch more of these stories and not get tired. Each tale has its own little spin on werewolf romance.

We met Mikhail in the previous story about his sister’s arrival in the pack. Even if you have no experience with this world and the characters in it, you could probably still start here (and then go back and read them all!). Mikhail isn’t exactly a classic hero, but he’s stood up for his sister and has fallen completely in love with Elise. Elise has previously been seen as a fragile, abused mother figure to the alpha, but here she really grows into her own story. She’s far from the fragile flower that she’s been deemed as previously.

Mikhail is finally pushed by his wolf to force the issue of dating (and ultimately mating) with the woman he can’t get out of his head. He knows that their relationship will be difficult, especially since the alpha is not going to be pleased with his mother “dating.” These two have their ups and downs, but their story was a beautiful built on patience and understanding. The communication and romance was definitely there. As I said, it was sad to see this story end, but it was a great read.

This is an older woman and man romance yet they do not seem old in anyway during this story. Elise is the mother to the alpha and Mikhail is the older brother to another member of the pack. Elise’s dead mate was a horrible man and because of that, it makes her leery to trust and let another man into her life again. Mikhail sees Elise and knows he wants her yet because of what happened to her in the past, he has to move slow and show her that he is worth that 2nd chance. This romance seemed to take forever getting going yet it was a good read. I think I would have liked it better if the characters didn’t seem so young. Even though the age appeared to be in the 60s for both, the characters came off as feeling in the mid to late 30s. Perhaps maybe their shifter blood and all but it just didn’t jive right in the story and made it hard to believe in the storyline. Anyway, it was a good read but would have been better if there wasn’t those inconsistencies.

My Rating: 4.0 stars *****

The Salvation pack has lived in relative peace for a decade, since eliminating the threat from the Louisiana pack. Elise, Jacque and Louis LaForge's mother, has found a new home in her son's pack, gaining new self confidence and learning about her strengths. Mikhail is the older brother of Sage's mate, and his attraction to Elise could get him in deep trouble if she doesn't return his feelings. As these two grow closer, Elise is surprised to discover her sensual nature is still alive in her, and that her wolf wants Mikhail as her own forever.

This is a wonderful addition to the Salvation pack series, and Me. Walters has handled the story with a sensitivity and passion that shows both of these strong characters in times of determination and in hesitancy. I liked that Mikhail was patient with Elise, letting her see that she was the one with all the control. And I liked that Elise was finally ready to move forward to a new and happy life.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I had not read any of the previous books so I felt comfortable saying this can be read as a stand alone book. There is a huge group of people in the pack but it is easy to follow along if you don't have any previous knowledge of these pack members.

Mikhail was such a great character who fell for Elise and was so patient and kind as he wanted to woo her yet knew that she was abused by her previous mate. He knew that he could not rush her and so the beginning of this book was slow. It was hard for me to keep focused and stopped and started this book several times this week before it got a little more exciting and then it went quickly!

While I could sympathize with Elise, it was hard watch as she was so slow to venture any small bit with Mikhail. Fortunately, he was very patient and could handle her hesitancy and non-commitment.

I cheered when she finally moved forward and loved the HEA!

Thanks Netgalley for a ARC to read and give my opinion.

Mikhail is brought to the Salvation pack because of his ties to his sister, but the mother of the Alpha is his reason for staying. Intending to court her slowly and to make her his own.
Elise is the mother of the Alpha and has been single since the death of her first mate. He was abusing and cruel to her for the length of their mating. Mikhail arouses feelings in her that she isnt sure of, and he makes it known to her that he is willing to go as slow as she needs.
I loved it, this was an extremely satisfying and lovely book. The author creates such a magnetic attraction between the two, and how Elise finally goes full circle with a HEA. I recommend it to anyone who loves HEA and paranormal fiction. Five stars of entertainment....great author!

* I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own *

This is the story of Mikhail Matheson who has moved to Salvation to be near his sister, but he sees someone else there who could be his mate, Elise LaForge, problem is she has adult sons, one of which is the Alpha of the pack and her life was full of abuse from her mate.
Elise is drawn to Mikhail and wants to finally have a loving relationship but her past will not let her move on and it becomes a dangerous time within the pack.
Elise and Mikhail struggle to move past everything and finally take that leap to becoming the mates they want, the attraction and love between them is off the charts and hopefully they will overcome everything standing in their way.

This was a great story by N J Walters and look forward to the next instalment .

Wolf of her Own by N.J. Walters is book Nine in the Salvation Pack. This is the story of Mikhail Matheson and Elise LaForge. I have read the other books but feel this can be a standalone book.
Mikhail and Elise are an older couple but with the wolf blood they don't seem to old. Elise is the Alpha's mother of their pack and after a very abusive mate tries to stay to herself as much as she can. Mikhail came to the pack because of his sister but stayed because of Elise. Even though he not sure how things will work out with her past history and who she is within the pack he just knows that she is his true mate.
Loved reading how these two come together! Big fan of Ms. Walter's writing so this was a must read for me!

This is Book 9 in the Salvation Pack series. This can be read as a stand-alone book and you will understand it without any problems. Mikhail came to Salvation to be with his sister and finds Elise. He’s fascinated with her, but she’s not had an easy marital life. Her abusive husband is dead and she’s living her life quietly. Now she must decide if she can grow past her past and live with her future. The way this story is told is beautiful. There is so much emotion in this book. You can’t put it down because you have to know what’s going to happen next. If you haven’t started this series, you really need to just because of this one book. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was an emotional and touching story as Elise found her place in her pack. Mikhail was patient but persistent, as he knew he would be turned away entirely too easily otherwise. I cheered for Elise as she passed so many milestones and realized she can have her way, what she wants, and how she wants it, without reprise. I love how Mikhail guides her and anticipates her needs and allows her to make these choices on her own, holding back any interference. It was also fun to watch Jacque and Louis learn to know their place in their mama’s world. There were more than a few laughs in this book and it balanced nicely with the growth in heart and soul that we saw with Mikhail and Elise. That epilogue was everything anyone could ever want for this amazing couple <3
