The Cobalt dragon is ready for a mate. At least, the bookish intellectual thinks he is. But when he and his crew are sent on a mission to rescue another dragon heart, only to find that she's already rescued herself, Cobalt will find that fate has someone much different than what he had in mind.
Sylvie has always been a fighter. And not even wolves or wyverns can stop her from taking back her freedom. But maybe a towering, brilliant nerd of a dragon with muscles for days and a heart of gold can make her reconsider going back to the human world for a few days. After all, how bad could being in a giant mansion full of hotties be?
To Cobalt's shock, fate moves faster than he could have anticipated, sparking sizzling sexual chemistry between him and Sylvie. But there are problems that will take more heart than brains to solve, and Sylvie's unfinished business is lurking in the shadows at every turn.

Cobalt has been my favorite dragon in the Dragon Guards of Drakkaris series. I know I shouldn’t play favorites but this logical, nerdy yet lethal dragon has always reminded me of my favorite Vulcan, and his bookish, logical Spock-ish ways have always given me a chuckle and a smile. Cobalt is paired with a sassy, feisty fighter who didn’t need rescuing but does need to believe in herself and that she’s worthy of being loved forever. Sylvie is a dragon heart for her brave actions and just like the others has been captured for those qualities. Her cunning in finding a way out of the facility where Hora has been planning and executing her horrid plans shows her determination. But within the heart of this fighter also lies a young woman’s fears of her past, and to get Sylvie to trust not only Cobalt but herself is going to be a challenge.
I enjoyed this couple very much, as well as the chance to get to know Chromium better. There is obvious danger here, steamy secy moments and a few surprises as well. Of all the stories in this series Cobalt Dragon has made me more curious as to what is ahead in the next story… and beyond. If you love watching a nerd turn into a prince, or if a tough, sassy human who is stronger than she thinks are your kind of couple then you’d enjoy not only Cobalt Dragon but this entire series. I’d definitely recommend this story and this series to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
I was really excited for Cobalt’s story but this kinda disappointed me. Sylvie gave me very mixed feelings. While I loved her kick-ass resourcefulness at the beginning, she became more and more self-centered. She was warned about Cobalt’s sensitivity compared to the others and she doesn’t ever take him seriously for who he is. She pushes him over and over to be more like her with no thought to how she’s hurting him. One night of ‘dressing up’ and she calls it all even. Part of being kick ass is being honest with yourself. She was a coward.
Cobalt Dragon is the fifth book in Terry Bolryder’s Dragon Guard of Drakkaris Series. Cobalt is the logical level-headed dragon who is the librarian for the royal Drakkaris library. Sylvie is a dragon heart and a fighter who rescues herself from the wolves and wyervens who held her captive. When they meet Cobalt is drawn to Sylvie’s strong and independent nature, while she in turn is attracted to his kind nature and handsome ‘nerdy’ looks. I love Cobalt and Sylvie together. Their chemistry is amazing but most of all when they are together they bring out the best in each other. All is well until Sylvie’s distrust rears its ugly head, Cobalt’s jealously ignites and Hora makes an appearance. Will they survive to get their happily ever after? Read it to find out! Another great read from Terry Bolryder!
I can’t wait for Chromium’s story. It’s the quiet ones you always have to watch out for ;)
All the books in Terry Bolryder’s series contain a happily ever after and can be read as a standalone, however, reading it in order will give you a better appreciation for the characters and the series itself.
This is a voluntary review of an advanced readers copy.
Who would have guess that the quiet librarian would get a feisty, kick-ass MMA fighter?
I love that Terry gave Cobalt a mate that would help push him out of his comfort zone. With Sylvie constantly being "one of the guys" to keep from being hurt as she has been in the past, she refuses to believe that anyone could want her for keeps. Our quiet keeper of knowledge has his hands full trying to keep his jealousy under control as Sylvie integrates into the mansion. I love Chromium's part in this book and the glimpses we are given into his life. There is not as much bantering in this book but there are some heartfelt conversations that bring better understanding of Chromium and Cobalt's relationship.
The ending is fantastic and totally unexpected it also leaves many questions about what is goin on with Chromium. Needless to say, I loved this book and want Chromium's story sooner rather than later.
I have bought, borrowed, or advance reviewed all of Terry Bolryder's dragon books and totally recommend them all.
I knew at some point that Cobalt would find his mate, but I never imagined her to be as sassy as Sylvie. Cobalt is the Spock of the Dragons from Drakkaris, always logical and always looking for the rational way to attack any problem that arrived with the dragons. Sylvie is the total opposite, a fighter, a dragon heart, and a bit impulsive. Opposites attract and in the case of Sylvie and Cobalt they are two parts of a whole. The story was great! The characters are wonderful and so well developed. Finally getting to know the nerdy librarian and I adored Sylvie, a woman who knows what she wants and takes it! I loved getting a peek into the quiet cousin of Cobalt, Chromium. I can’t wait to see what is in store with him. I also love the dragons from the previous stories that live in Mansion together and their comments and actions. Mercury was a highlight (like always). I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Sylvie was captured by wolf and wyvern shifters. After a couple weeks, she figured out a way to escape. Once she was outside a portal opened and six big gorgeous men stepped out. She ended up leaving with the when one of the guys convinced her they were safe. Cobalt talked the dragon heart to come with him by using logic. Sylvie does things at the spur of the moment not thinking about the future. Eventhough they are attracted to each other they are definitely opposites. Sylvie thinks they are just passing time bring together and Cobalt thinks they are working toward a relationship of being mates. Can they work out their differences? I didn't care much for Sylvie's attitude through most of the book, but she finally woke up towards the end. Cobalt was the same sweet logical dragon as we have seen previously. There is surprise about Chromium near the end that has me waiting excitingly for the next book. Love Terry Bolryder's dragon stories!!!!
Terry Bolryder's dragons are awesome!!!!! She writes the most amazing stories. Each one just adds to the pile of perfection that is a wonder shifter novel creation. In this one you get our librarian dragon Cobalt's story with a Dragon Heart Sylvie. Sylvie's background sounds sad and very troubling. Any worthwhile alpha would want to protect a beautiful spirit. Cobalt and Sylvie, sigh, you have to read it!!!!
I love both Cobalt and Sylvie. He was totally not prepared for this strong woman. She's a super Dragonheart. Their rescue of her was more a ride home. Yep, she's physically and personally strong. Yet, she has her own history that intrudes.
Cobalt is a nerd. A warrior, yes, hot, yes but he loves books and spends most of his time locked away with them. That is until Sylvie intrudes in his space and heart. Watching the two of them is so much fun. He has no idea what to do with an aggressive woman--he'd sure like to try to find out. She's not sure she meets his standards. She has been on her own since she was a teen.
I loved the story, the characters, and the outcome. Each story in the series is complete while an ongoing enemy ties them together. The dragons and their mates are unique and page turners.
I was so looking forward to read Cobalt's story but unfortunately it didn't lived up to my expectations. It just dragged on for so long I found myself skipping pages. Cobalt is one f the Drakeris dragon guards. He is also the librarian of the royal Drakeris library, AKA the nerd of the group complete with glasses and a prim and proper personality. He and his friends are send to rescue a dragon heart, Sylvie, but she had already saved herself. They take her to the mansion to keep her safe from any future kidnapping. She is sexually aggressive going after Cobalt and sometimes it felt like she was taking advantage of his feelings for her ( she will ignore them) and spend a lot of time with his friend Chromium, going as far as to turn to him as a confidant leaving Cobalt in the cold and in a state of jealousy. It was a ok read for me.
Can the super smart and nerdy dragon catch his lady's eye?
Sylvie was about to rescue herself when the dragons showed up, and took her away from the wyrvens holding her as a prisoner. Cobalt is entranced by Sylvie's beauty and her fighting spirit, but can she see beyond his nerdy exterior to the mate he hopes to be to her? Sylvie is a fighter and rough the edges, more use to trainung men to be fighters than being a lady. She can't see herself as a good match for someone who spends his days in a library, but they can have fun until he realizes she isn't the right woman for him. I loved Sylvies fighting spirit and her ability to rescue herself, even if the dragons helped a little bit. Cobalt staid exterior hides a very intense dragon and I love how we get to see that side of him emerge. I love these dragons and I hope their stories continue.
Cobalt Dragon, loyal Royal Librarian of Drakaris and member of the Royal Guard, always has his nose in a book. Or a magazine. or a website, or an ancient scroll - you name a topic; he'll search it. His hunger for knowledge is insatiable, but that's because he doesn't understand the void he's really trying to fill. That is, until he meets Sylvie, the dragon hearted human female he's been sent to rescue. Sylvie, tired of being a shifter captive, rescues herself. Cobalt finds she's done his work for him. That's Sylvie - independent, badass, and wa-a-ay ahead of Cobalt's learning curve. Watching him catch on, and catch up, to his fated mate is the meat of this book, written with Terry Bolryder's typical humorous storyteller style. Good dragon romance addition to Bolryder's Dragon Guard series.
Cobalt's story may be my favorite of this series! The dragons arrive to rescue another dragonheart, as usual, only to discover she's already rescued herself! This heroine, Sylvie, is quite a departure from the norm: pragmatic about her imprisonment and its effect on her old life; quite willing to stay with the dragons and get to know them better; and unabashedly aggressive. Getting to know Sylvie better makes her surprisingly likable and more than she appears. Cobalt is revealed as more than just a book nerd, so this story is less "opposites attract" and more "like recognizes like" which makes this aa truly satisfying fated mates romance. I love the surprise in the battle with Hora and the wyverns; Hora calls it correctly! (TEASER) And speaking of more than appearances suggest, what's up with Chromium...
Cobalt is a dragon after my own heart, as a slightly nerdy librarian dragon guard. This one was really switched up, with Sylvie as the bold one, and Cobalt just trying to keep up! I especially liked how well she could get along with the others. But she had a vulnerable side too. I can't wait for Chromium's story, which is next.I
This story has a feisty heroine, an adorably nerdy dragon guard, good character development, a lively pace, steamy scenes and a storyline that is both action and character oriented. Read these in order. You can read Double Dragons and Tiger Protectors, but you don't have to. The rest you really should read before this: Awakened Dragons, Rent-a-Dragon, Date-a-Dragon, Awakened Sea Dragons and then this one in order. Enjoy!
Sylvie had been kidnapped weeks ago and now knew the guards shift changes and was making her escape. As she is about to be free a portal opens and the biggest men she has ever seen come through the light. Cobalt follows the rest of the Dragons through the portal to rescue another Dragon Heart but it appears she has nearly saved herself. He convinces her to go with them but she stays right by his side which feels good. In this story of the series the girl is the one to make the first move fro a change with comical results. As always a great story by this writer, looking forwards to the next one.
Cobalt is the royal librarian of Dakkaris, a true nerd, but also handsome and a warrior. He meets Sylvie as she's making her escape from imprisonment. As a dragon heart she's proven her bravery, shown her audacity yet she is truly vulnerable. Cobalt's cousin Chromium is a vital player in this romance. Bringing Cobalt out of his intellectual bubble is most of the issue, while overcoming Sylvie's insecurities. Throw in wyverns, wolf shifters and the evil female dragon Hora with intense fighting and you have a fast read with well defined characters. These alien dragons are a great group, handsome, charming and courageous.
The wolf shifters, who knew there was such a thing, anyway they didn’t treat her badly but they did kidnap Sylvie and it was time to go. Just as Sylvie, an MMA trainee got to where the exit should be six, giant warriors, one more handsome than the last came through. And just her luck the nerdiest warrior of the bunch is the most appealing. He’d hate her for sure.
Sitting with the warriors and someone they called the Oracle made everything sound great, Sylvie thought; she’d get to spend some time with the one they called Cobalt. She’d find a way to get around that big brain to have some fun and maybe he wouldn’t even mind her brash jump in first attitude. Rating: 3stars
I loved how Slyvie was so strong, she escaped herself! She was actually the hero in this book. Probably the only thing I didn't like was that she didn't bond to the other women. I know women can be catty in real life, but I like when we bond together. I don't like fighting and trying to best the other. We should build/support each other up.
I can't wait for Chromium's story. I think I would pick him if I had a choice, but I have a feeling he may be different from what I thought he'd be like. Time will tell.
I do so love these dragons! I adore Cobalt! He’s all cute and shy and bookish. Sylvia is admirable, with her do-it-herself attitude and can-do spirit. I love it! But there’s a lot of unresolved pain under that tough exterior. Sylvie has a history that makes it difficult for her to consider staying in a long term relationship. Cobalt has his work cut out for him! I love the byplay between Cobalt and Chromium. Chromium is awesome, too! Just the kind of guy Sylvie can enjoy as a big brother. Then jealousy hits the fan. It’s not pretty! You’ll really enjoy this story, it’s excellent!
The Cobalt Dragon has always been one of my favorite dragons. Always studious and in the background it was good to see him let his hair down and have fun. Sylvie is just what Cobalt needed in his life she is a fighter and from the streets and brings out the best in him. She does have a lot of baggage but Cobalt doesn't see it and doesn't care. Terry Bolryder knows how to keep her readers enticed with HEA endings and stories that flow perfectly.
I love all the dragons and their mate's but I have to say Sylvia was one of my favorites. She was fierce and funny, going after what she wanted, so bold in her feelings for Cobalt. She pulled out a side of the Dragon he didn't even know he had. But the reason I love her character is because she saved herself, a warrior, saving the dragons as well. Another great read by Terry, I'm obsessed with her books, especially her Dragons. Can't wait for the next one and to find out what's after this series.
As always another fascinating and delightful book by T. Bolryder. I absolutely love these books! Don't get me wrong I love the wolves just as much. It's the author that makes the series so great with expert writing and a great imagination. Each and every story makes you feel as though you're right there with the characters going through what they are or you could just as easily put yourself in each of their places. As always I highly recommend T. Bolryder to each and everyone who might read this review. Now I'm off to find Chromium to see what he's getting into.
This was a quick, enjoyable read. It was sweet, sexy, and had a strong heroine (not that the previous ones were weak, but this one was a bit more...bad@ss).
Sylvie is a strong female lead. She's courageous, can fight, can and will protect herself and those she cares for, is funny, and brazen. I liked how she would do stuff to get a rise out of Cobalt.
Cobalt has always been the sweet, smart, caring dragon. I liked seeing his possessive and protective side once Sylvie came into the picture.
All in all, I liked this read and am about to start Chromium's book!
I love Ms. Bolryder's dragons and Cobalt is no exception. He is sweet and nerdy but deep down you know he's a true warrior. Sylvie isn't like the other "dragon hearts". She's strong-willed and a fighter. They say opposites attract...well, these two are about as different as can be but they are perfect for each other.
*I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*
This is probably my favorite my this author so far. I don't mind the books being short and would never penalize a book for being short. After all, I do have access to the page and word count beforehand. But, the other books didn't always flesh out a story enough. This, while still short, did. The female main was different than the usual ones in the dragon series', and I liked her a lot. I love Cobalt. I'm fond of nerds, and I am excited for Chromium's book.
Sylvie has been kidnapped by the wolves and is trying to escape when she does escape the facility that she was hostage at a blue circle appears and six big hunks are there to rescue her especially one with bright blue eyes and glasses. Cobalt asks the Oracle if he can be with Sylvie? She gives him riddled answer. Will these two be mates? Great read. I couldn't put down till finished.
This one is a little different. Those nasty wyverns have captured another dragonheart, but she figured out how to escape before the hunky dragons can get there. Our dragons do give her a lift to the safety of the mansion via portal though. This one is also different because the other dragons are so much more sure if their actions. Cobalt actually blushes, it's cute to think a Dragon man would blush. Well written as usual.
The Hot And Sweet Love Story Of A Nerd And A Fighter
They are so different. Can they really have a future together? Cobalt is the intellectual, always analyzing and overthinking, never allowing his feelings free. Sylvie is a fighter, a very independent woman but still unsure and insecure about being worthy of love. Can she teach him to free his feelings and live in the moment, and can he make her trust his love for her?
This is another great dragon story by Ms. Bolryder. This is the 5th book in the Dragon Guard of Drakkaris series. It held my interest all the way through. This is Cobalt and Sylvie's story. These two are opposites Cobalt is the librarian of the guard while Sylvie is an MMA fighter. Will Sylvie get her dragon? Will these two opposites really attract? I give this story 5 stars.
