But when he's not living every bachelor's dream, he's working a dead end job he detests more each day. He knows things need to change soon… and they do, the world ends. I enjoyed being back in this brutal yet heroic inducing world and seeing where Tank started and was during Outbreak.

Reading this kinda made me want to reread the series even though that’s not in my reading mood’s cards right now, haha. It was also hilarious seeing how Tank and Chloe met and seriously started out on the wrong foot, lol.

A good prequel!

**** SPOILER ALERT ****
This is my first foray into Chadd's "Brother's Creed" universe. This tidbit has me hungry for more, pun definity intended!
The author does a great job of packing a LOT of world building in an action packed short space.
I highly recommend this story.
In the interest of transparency: I was given a copy of this story. This is my own honest opinion.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Okay, this prequel fits seamlessly into the narrative of Outbreak. Quite a few times, a prequel can seem forced or predictable but not this one. I read this story in one sitting it was that good. It didn't hurt that I absolutely loved the main character. Allen Hook, or Tank as he likes to be called is basically me in high school only we didn't have the video games that they have today for me and my fellow nerdy outcasts it was role-playing games specifically the one that rhymes with Z & Z.
Tank resonated with me like no character has in a long time. I mean he has Frostmourne and no, I won't spoil it I will leave it to the reader to discover the awesomeness that is Frostmourne. I especially appreciated Tank's interaction with Chloe; seriously, his dialogue with her is every conversation I had with a female until I was 25 or so.
This story is everything that one has come to expect from Joshua Chadd; the prose is crisp and it flows. The dialogue is witty and real and the characters have real depth. I mean come on, it has zombies and guns and crushy stabby things; it doesn't get any better than that.
Seriously though, get this book, there is nothing to lose, it's free and it fleshes out the the Outbreak universe. You won't regret it.

This is a good prequel to a series that didn’t drag, and actually is the first in a long time that has me interested in reading the first book in the series. The main character, Allen, aka Tank, is better equipped for the apocalypse than most, being a major video game player. When he gets involved with a group, they will have to find a way through a lot of obstacles and blocked roads of vehicles and the dead and undead. Trying to find his way north to his friends who prepared for a doomsday.

This is a short, action packed read that isn’t sluggish, and you’ll find that Tank is someone you’d like on your side during an apocalypse.

Loved this book as much as all the rest and can't wait for more. This prequel fills in things nicely for the A Brother's Creed series.

Allen Hook is the kind of character that keeps you coming back for more. Although hard around the edges, Allen's witty remarks and relatability make him easy to love. Oh, and let's not forget that in this prequel he's quickly forced into fighting for his life. This is an exciting start to an even more exciting story.

Tanked is the prequel to the Brothers Creed series. It’s a quick read and once it gets going, it’s non-stop action right to the very end. Allen, aka Tank, is a 20 year old who spends most of his time playing video games when he’s not working at his dead end job. One night he witnesses a dead man come back to life and he knows the apocalypse is here. He teams up with a group of people as they work together to escape the city.

I really enjoyed this story. I got it as a freebie in a promotion (and I’m voluntarily leaving an honest review). I read it in one sitting and my interest is piqued to read the next book in the series. In fact I’ve already bought it! I recommend it to anyone who likes post-apocalyptic/zombie fiction.

This is an awesome read that ties into the Brother's Creed world. This story describes Tank and allows us to get to know Tank better! Can be read alone, but I recommend the whole series as it is awesome!!

I received a free copy of this from Instafreebie and am really glad I picked this. This prequel was just enough tease, that I downloaded the first book in the series - Outbreak and I am looking forward to reading how Tank's story meets up with his friends. I really liked Tank ... Granted I may be biased, Tank reminds me a little of my son. Good read, I would definitely recommend this, especially for fans of 28 Days and The Walking Dead.

This is a short prequel that flows seamlessly into the next book "Outbreak" . Allen Hook, who likes to be called Tank, is feeling like he's living a dead end life with a dead end job, nothing to look forward to. Until all hell breaks loose! All of a sudden and all over the place the undead are swarming. Tank decides to head north to meet up with his best buddies, the Andderson brothers. Tank hooks up with some other people who are also trying to get away. Getting out of the danger zone is going to take all the skill and knowledge Tank has. Things start to get really bad, I mean, really bad! I will leave it there because I don't want to spoil the story for you! For a short story the author has put together fast paced action with dialogue that is pretty much the same. This is an enjoyable read. I think you will love it!

Tanked is a great prequel! It’s just enough to leave me wanting more. I’m off now to cyber space to find OUTBREAK, the first book of The Brothers Creed series. I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I freely and happily give this review. Well done, Mr. Chadd! 4.8/5🌟

This prequel was okay. Everything seemed to move either really fast or drag on. I didn't find it very believable given "Tank"'s life and behaviors at the beginning that he would really just happen to team up with this large group of people. While I'm interested in his friends' plans upon Alaska I'm also a little confused about how he is going to get his friends to agree to all of the new members of his group as well as keep everyone alive given how little weaponry they have and how few of them are willing to step up and help fight. Tank and his friends given the initial information about them seem to be more of a loner small group kind of group not OK let's help everyone we can.
I received a free copy of the book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Mini review time!

Story

As someone who avoids zombie stories, usually, with The Maze Runner trilogy being the exception, this book was awesome. Fast-paced and intriguing.

Themes

The moral of the story, kids, is quote things when no one else understands what you're saying.

Characters

ALLEN "TANK" HOOK IS A FAVORITE. He's a big mood and reminded me of a friend and my brother combined so that was hilarious.

Content

This is a zombie story so, yeah. Violence, gore, mildly describes. Contains language.

Overall

I cannot wait to get book one!

If you like a simplistic style of writing that feels more Young Adult than Adult, you will probably enjoy this story and overlook all the questions that it raises about character development and characters remaining true to character. Considering Tank's slovenly ways and gamer lifestyle, I also don't quite picture him as a fit soldier or someone willing to take on more survivors under his protection, which is a little lacking. Too many sophomoric remarks for my taste. But the editing is clean and the author knows how to use the fundamentals of English Grammar properly.

Love the action, liked the characters, hated the foul language [so much so that I will not be reading any more of this series]. I read the first book and this "short story" hoping it would get better as far as language goes. It got worse. I don't need that in my brain- Frank Tayell is a better writer and has a better vocabulary. Try his Evacuation series [I have no connection to Mr. Tayell except for the fact that I enjoy his writings].

I have only read a preview of Tanked but it looks like it will make another great book from Joshua. I have loved all his other books and if you have not read Last Hope then make sure you do. It is a must read. To me it was the best in Apocalypse genre.

Pretty good post apocolyptic zombie fiction. The series has a strong Christian theme. Works well.

As most prequels go, this one is very short, but it draws you instantly in and makes you want to read the next and the next...

Seriously awesome start to a series - other than Chloe - I hope she dies soon. I love apocalyptic books and anything with zombies makes it that much better! Already have the next book ready to start!

Zombie apocolypse strikes. Short novella, sample for later books.

It wasn't really my thing, thus I leave it unrated. Writing wasn't bad. I find the MC choices unwise, but the action wasn't bad. This author has a future in action-adventure.

I enjoyed this short story and look forward to reading more in the series.
The writing style is relaxed and easy to read, the characters are kind of endearing and the story itself was well written.
