My kids really liked this story about animals!! I'll try to find the other books in the series for them!! Reading aloud to them is still strange after so many years!
It's a good thing Dr. KittyCat always brings her flowery medical bag with her everywhere. The camping trip with a few of the young animals has its bumps and bruises. And poor Clover the bunny! My seven-year-old son enjoys this series.

Supersöpö Dr KittyCat is ready to rescue -sarja jatkuu osalla Clover the Bunny.
I swear to all that's good and right, I will get cavities from these books. There has been an outbreak of pawpox, and Clover the Bunny gets sick on his first camping trip, and only Dr. KittyCat can help. (It's as obnoxiously adorable as it sounds.) Get this in the hands of animal-loving children who want to be doctors and veterinarians. It's recommended for 2nd and 3rd graders, but ambitious 1st graders would totally dig this, too.
The Dr. Kitty Cat series was recommended to me by an avid 2nd grade reader, so I purchased a few in the series. What a fun surprise, in Clover the Bunny, Dr. Kitty runs a doctor's office with a mouse as her assistant. Dr. Kitty and Peanut the assistant take their three friends, Clover the bunny, Nutmeg the guinea pig, and Pumpkin the hamster on a camping trip in their "vanbulance." Dr. Kitty's medical skills come in handy as each animal needs special medical attention. It's just amazing how recuperative Dr. Kitty's special stickers and decorated band aids are for curing her furry friends. The illustrations are so clever, real animal photographs are combined with two color cartoony illustrations. The animals look so believable in their various illustrations. This is an ideal title for students ready to begin "real" chapter books, the furry characters will ignite their imagination, and they'll learn about a few medical instruments featured in the back of the book as well.
I saw some of these books during check-in one day. I love cats, so of course I stopped to look through them. I loved the illustrations, black and white animal photographs with monochromatic crayon-drawn accents and backgrounds. I didn't want to take all of them, so of course I picked the teal one to take home!
The story was okay (speaking as an adult reader), about a pawpox outbreak and a camping trip, and I imagine this series would be very fun for any kid that wanted to be a doctor or veterinarian. It took me a bit more suspension of disbelief than usual though to imagine little Peanut the mouse lifting all those things or Dr KittyCat knitting.
Definitely a cute series concept and I adore the illustrations.
This was not one of my favorites in this series. The predictability started to grate on my nerves and honestly, the little animals, just kept falling over and whining and needing bandages. I started to find Dr. Kittycat just a little too know it all for my taste and it wasn't clear if she was in charge because she was the doctor, or just simply because she was the more adult animal of the camping pack?
peanut the mouse is SO ungrateful of dr kitty cat's knitting and it's like you know what???? a rat would NEVER but that mouse got a respectable job just because his ancestors hired a good pr firm! 5 stars, post review.
Sweet story as Dr. Kitty Cat and friends go camping and find trouble on the way. The story flows well as something is always happening (car sickness, hurt paw, splinter, etc.) with possible new vocabulary words sprinkled throughout story (soothe, keen, dappled, etc.). Great choice for early elementary readers.
I would have LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the Dr. Kittycat series as a child. I would have. I know it. Partly because even as an adult, I am charmed and quite pleased. Partly because I've always had a fondness for cats and animals.
So Clover the Bunny is the second book in the series. Dr. KittyCat and Peanut are planning a camping trip. Sadly, some animals who were planning to go with them came down with paw pox. Fortunately, not everyone got sick. (You do only get paw pox once, and if you've had it, you're immune.) Clover, a bunny, is one of the animals going camping. And it is Clover who happens to need quite a bit of medical attention throughout the book! Dr. KittyCat is always prepared, and so is Peanut!
The story is cute and charming, and, probably won't appeal to every adult certainly. It probably won't appeal to every single child either. But for the right child, this might be the series that gets them super-excited to pick up a book! And series books are so essential in this stage of development!
This is #2 in the Dr. KittyCat series of easy chapter books. It has cute illustrations; simple two-color pencil drawings combined with actual black-and-white photos of real animals. Peanut - a mouse - is Dr. KittyCat's assistant, and their little community of Thistletown is chock full of fluffy little animals. The book is full of mini procedures - removing a splinter, treating car sickness, using a thermometer - with every aspect explained in calm, soothing language. Good books for kids who might be a bit scared of the doctor, or who want to be a doctor, or who just like stories featuring animals. At the back is a little glossary explaining some of the things that are in Dr. KittyCat's medical bag, like tweezers and an ear thermometer.
Dr. KittyCat, her mouse assistant, and a few other animal friends are off on a camping trip. But a few injuries require Dr. KittyCat's medical knowledge -- and a bunch of reward stickers for her well-behaved patients!
This is a fun new series. The abundant artwork is captivating, with its mix of photographs and illustrations. Students who are interested in animal stories, veterinary medicine, or human medicine, will be especially entertained. Works well as a read-aloud. An afterword has further information about Dr. KittyCat's medical supplies.
