Haunted London cop Jack Sheridan travels to the idyllic Blackwood Forest to investigate the abduction of two young girls.
Amongst the endless trees, he finds a place filled with secrets. A place with a history of missing children dating back to the late-seventies. Five dismembered bodies found buried within the roots of the forest. The Blackwood Witch. Never caught.
Add to this the mystery of a kidnapping that went tragically wrong twenty-five years ago, and Jack finds himself on a constantly shifting plane.
In a world of myths and trees, secrets and lies, the detective struggles not to lose himself as he wanders through the dark woods towards a final truth which will change him—and those around him—forever.
INTO THE WOODS was definitely a thriller; however, I found that I enjoyed the previous books in this series more.
Too many side threads were simultaneously going on with different characters, like a spider’s web. It would have been more enjoyable if the main characters were more fully developed.
Looking forward to following Jack Sheridan’s next case in the series.
Honestly once you start reading you can't stop! Unbelievable suspense from beginning to end. Every time you think you've worked it out another twist comes about! Great author!
I love the ongoing story line from book to book. See all that is happening in Jacks life. I really feel for him, he has had to endure so much, not that he didn't bring much of it on himself. He has moved on and is trying to be the family man he really is, and do right by all those in his life. He trying so hard to repair his relationship with his daughter, but first he has to save her from herself. In trying to do just that he puts her in the clutches of a dangerous man who hurts her, while poor Jack watches. Its heartbreaking. I loved the mystery in this book, but it was truly sad. All of it.
This was a much darker story than I had been expecting. Well written and greatly entertaining however I almost had to come out of its spell to find myself among decent people. It was more time spent among evil people than I am comfortable with.
With a very deep disturbing insight into the life’s of people who live in what seems to be an ordinary happy village the story unravels secrets from beyond the grave to the living - i do not recommend the book who live with or live with a current or past life of abuse or loosing a child-excellence and praise to the author as it is extremely well written
Could have done with better editing: too much use of the same adjectives like 'instantly' or 'automatically'...such use made the otherwise good plot seem artificial, formulaic. The previous books did not have this shortcoming. And, what about Clara, now?
A brilliant book with so many twists and turns, every chapter kept me engrossed and honestly, once you start reading you will not want to put this book down.. As for the ending, it was one of the best I've ever read..
I love the fact that this book is part of a series. With each book I learn more about the characters, their vulnerabilities, and flaws. The crimes are a reminder of how evil people can be and how ugly the world has become.
Wow!!! Into The Woods was the best in this series so far. A turn of the corner with the turn of almost each page. Had me right up to the end when the final shock was revealed. If you like mystery, this is a must read!!
Jack Sheridan our likeable British black detective investigates the multiple kidnapping, disaperance and murder of young children in a forest outside London. Rumors of a witch, strange foreigners and local characters make for an entertaining read.
Who or what is causing so many to vanish and what has happened to Jack and his daughter is a mystery you must find out when reading book 3 in this series ... Loving it and so should you
This had an interesting plot, but there were quite a few places with very graphic violence. There were also a lot of characters which made the read confusing at times. Eventually the lead character sorted out who did what to whom.
I love this series, even though it’s so dark. The twists and turns keep you reading, well past your bedtime .Highly recommend, get both and save the time of looking for other😁
I could not put this book down the twists just kept coming and coming just when I thought I was at the end Jack's daughter is involved. Fantastic right to the end.
