The author of too many novels to count, Bethany-Kris is a Canadian, lover of much, and mother to four sons, a glaring of cats, and a pack of dogs. A small town in Eastern Canada where she was born and raised is where she has always called home. With her boys under her feet, a snuggling cat, barking dogs, and a spouse calling over his shoulder, she is nearly always writing something ... when she can find the time.
Let's start off by saying I am really loving this Saga series and the more books I read from this author the more I fall in love with her works. For me all her books are just totally awesome and once you start reading on of her books you won't be able to put it down. This author is going to be known as the Queen of Mafia Romance before you know it !
I have to say that this series kept you glued to the pages the entire time as things were constantly changing and the danger kept getting even more real but, this time around even more was on the line .The story was emotional ,heart wrenching, intriguing but, was full of tons of major players for us to interact with and get to know and fall in love with.We loved how complicated a family this large could be with all the ups and downs with all those different personalities but, at the end of the day they loved one another and new that family came first in all their eyes no matter what differences, tiffs etc.
Cross was my favorite character hands down ."I loved him from the onset of the story!" and I have to say that I was a little bit in love with him myself. We loved everything about him the good and the bad.
Cross & Dante both fit this description of them we found them to be sexy, caring, loving, determined, some really big brass balls, bad*sse's in their own right, creative, intelligent, a planner, down right dangerous if crossed, sneaky and sly, possessive, protective of all those they loved but, for Cross we loved those personal sacrifices he made time and time again for the sake of love.Dante -we loved this meddling Dad whether his actions were good or bad they was always made in the name of love.Let's just say I had a big crush on him as well.
For me one of the most touching things that happened for me is learning what that shadow box represented to Cross and Catherine and how much these two had endured and had to overcome and be together but, through all their obstacle this couple represented what true love is all about.Cross and Catherine were just explosive together whether in bed or out of it.The chemistry between the two was off the charts and extremely hot and as the saga progressed thing just kept getting hotter and hotter .
Catherine was so much more than just her upbringing.I have to say that she surprised us more and more as the story progressed and we saw this protective tigress just blossom and the lengths she went to protect those she had come to love.
For us this family saga rocked! The stories had tons of romance and some really hot erotica love scenes, had constant drama, a ton of surprises as well as tons of twists and turns along the way and the story that was a totally intense.I loved the lengths this couple was willing to go to be together and the sacrifices both of them were making to forge and life together. We also loved each and every character's in this series as you could not help being intrigued by each of these self made man but, most of all we loved at the end of the day they loved their family above all else and when they found the one women to share their life these men love their women fiercely.
We can't wait for the next new release to come out and we highly recommend checking out this author mafia books because everything I have read so far we have absolutely loved and they have been awesome reads.
We are loving these mafia romance books more and more.Overall this family's Saga was one of the best I have read to date and as a reviewer you could just go on and on because their was so many things I could list about how much I really loved this family's Saga and its character's.
This book was everything I needed it to be and more. The amount of times I smiled and teared up while reading it.... Omg. The in-depth scenes of past events made me love the characters even more, seeing different sides of the stories and seeing how they felt at that time. Seeing the couple in the present and how in love they still are, how they still adore and cherish each other was wonderful. Plus you get to see them as parents, how they parent, and handle business and family. But omg the scenes of the future... They had my heart jumping out of my chest with happiness. Seeing Cross and Catherine go through and understand some of what their parents went through and seeing their kids find loves of their own was amazing. I needed this book so badly and I'm so glad the author gave it to me.

How is it possible to love Cross & Catherine more than I already do?? I love them individually but I outright, head over heel ADORE them as a couple. I love their love for each other. I love their love and relationship with their kids.
This companion novel is something I didn't realise I needed. It was full of bonus scenes that I was always curious about. It made me want to read Cross+Catherine's books again.
And can I just mention chapter 30.... I didn't think I would cry but I did. That was one of the most emotional scenes I've read and it was also very nostalgic (if you've read Revere you'll know what I'm talking about).
I thought I'd want a Cece book or even a Naz book but when I thought about it I think the way Bethany Kris gave us snippets of their lives in this book is just perfect. We know what we need to and I think that's the perfect way to end it.
I absolutely loved this……..anything featuring Cross and I’m all over it ♥ I just can’t get enough of these characters and I loved seeing Cece and Naz all grown up.
This companion was EVERYTHING! I literally could not go to sleep until I finished reading and now I'm a zombie but it was SO worth it.
Cross + Catherine are one of my favorite BK couples. Cross as a dad/husband/boss is HOT AF. He still has the same swagger but like wine has only gotten better with time. Catherine like Cross has only gotten better and wiser. She's such a great mother and partner. Cece is a force and the BEST parts of Cross + Catherine. Naz is the bomb diggity! He is Cross's mini-me but with SO MUCH SWAGGER. I LOVE how protective he is of Cece and his loyalty <3
Cross + Catherine is their love story and the obstacles that are thrown in their path from teenagers to adulthood to test their love for one another. Both from different crimes families. This is their journey. One that will grab you from the first page.
Mystery, suspense, betrayal and a good sprinkle of humour.
*Always
Cross and Catherine are teenagers from two different mafia families. First loves are hard. Heartbreak is worse.
Catherine is smart and sly, but lies to please her family as her secret wild side only causes her trouble. Cross is her saviour.
Cross is so arrogant, sarcastic, loyal and dedicated. He's honest and has no filter. He's a little sh*t! Love his attitude. I can only imagine him as he gets older. His love for Catherine is unconditional.
(13-18 yrs old)
*Revere
Catherine finally reveals to her parents the secrets and lies that sent her spiraling downwards and the truth as to why Cross sent her away. Her mental illness, addiction and depression.
Cross finds out the truth about what happened to Catherine after she left and confronts Dante in public.
When a gunrunner mission turns bad, Catherine is taken prisoner.
*Unruly
Cross and Catherine have been blessed with Cece. Catherine's mini me but definitely Cross' attitude! Three year old Cece's little antics are so funny.
Catherine is still being trained by her mom to become the Queen Pin. When Catherine butts head with her mom she is left not only without a supplier but someone is stealing her clients.
The Russians have declared war putting Cross and Catherine in danger.
*Companion
I enjoyed the povs, deleted and bonus scenes that gave an insight to the characters and their relationship with one another, good and bad.
*Naz & Roz
Naz is a genius. His brain is always working overtime until he mets Roz, Zeke's daughter. She calms him. He is sin on a stick. A criminal and definitely Cross' son in so many ways, love and attitude.
Roz is a child prodigy. She's had a crush on Naz since she was five. Now sixteen her dream comes true, Naz. A beautiful love story.
They are like Cross and Catherine trying to figure out this love thing.
This book explained the unexplained behavior of the h character in the first book. If there was ever a reason for a rewrite, it would be book 1 that would include many of the snipers found in this book. I disliked the h character because the author failed to provide enough background to understand the motivations/behavior of the character. The character behaved in a clueless, selfish, shallow and entitled individual. However, the H character was the cat's meow. A woman does not have to be less, so that a man can be more. This series could have been so much better. I would not recommend this of series because over 3 books I did not enjoy the h character and the reasons for her problems where not provided until this books, provided as an outake of the series, which should have been front and center in the first book. Pass, I think the author has written better.
Cross+Catherine are one of my favourite couples in BKs novels. I mean, a union between Marcello and Donati, what could be better?
This Companion is everything and more than I expected. The scenes that were not published in the initial story are enlightening and I couldn't help going back down memory lane.
Much have changed for Catherine and Cross, but one thing remains the same. Their indestructible love! They are parents to Cece and Nazio and it's fun watching the kids with their parents. I am sure that Cross realises that he is getting a dose of his own medicine from Nazio, but his love and pride are heartwarming. As for Cece, in Catherine's own words, she is her twin, only with less drama.
Reading about the Marcellos and the Donatis never gets old. This is very well portrayed and the scenes are so natural that they feel real. I absolutely love this Companion and the titbits about Nazio and Cece give a great overview of their upbringing and their characters. Kudos to Catherine and Cross!
Thanks BK for giving us those additional scenes. Smashing!
I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
Cross and Catherine watch as their kids grow up and everything changes again Life is still as busy as it ever was for these two and their family. Cece and Nazio are trying to figure this life thing out. From toddling babies to wedding bells, everything they have ever wanted is already at their fingertips.
This is a companion novella about Cross and Catherine. These stories are written in short story from and meant to be enjoyed as individual pieces of the Cross and Catherine series. This is not a standalone so if you haven't read the series your not going to understand a thing your reading. This was certainly different but I really enjoyed a look back into Cross and Catherines life.
This is the combination of all three of Cross and Catherine’s book as well as some additional POV’s of different scenes from all three books, and maybe a little more!
I’ve previously read all three books, and each one was a 5 star read. They are full of passion, heat and that special something that only this author can deliver. Her storytelling is superb and the way she writes mafia stories is second to none. As for the additional scene POV’s, this I loved. It was so nice experiencing scenes from different perspectives. In my opinion, even if you have read the books individually, a re-read with the little add-ons is definitely worth it.
This book was needed for the fans. the premise of this book helps to fill in the gaps in the story. The book is made up of a collection of short stories. the stories make you feel closer to the characters. we also get to read about the children. the children stories will make you feel like you have grown up with them. The layout of the book was done perfectly. With this story it makes you feel that their story got the right ending but also what the future holds for the children. I can't wait to read more from this author.
This was a great way to close up a chapter with Cross + Catherine and get a small peak at what the future would hold. Getting details that were left out in the original books was also a great concept - if there were any lingering questions they were answered...for me anyways. There were always the thoughts in the back of my head saying that what these people do for a living and how they involve their children just wasn't right but Catherine summed it up quite nicely. I'm looking forward to reading Naz & Roz's story. Naz is quite the character so this should be interesting.
I enjoyed reading this book that gave us snippets into Cross and Catherine's lives.
I REALLY did not like Catherine as a young woman, I felt she was selfish, shallow and entitled. Also BK did not give me a reason as to why Catherine was the way she was. BUT as an adult and a mom, she was really awesome. I grew to like Catherine and the way she was with Cece was just too awesome.
Cross as always stole the book for me like he did in all the other books in this series.
This was everything I was hoping for. It had some angst that had me in sad tears but I was left with warm Fuzzies by the end of the book. I loved catching up with Catherine and Cross and getting to see snippets from the past that we weren’t privy to in the original novels was really great. And I adored their kids and getting to see how they grew up.
I wish more authors did something like this. I loved having all these bonus scenes as they helped giving insight into the characters and scenes. The first half that were from the relationship of Cross and Catherine it would have been nice if they told us where they came in it. I had to keep racking my head to get the placement on the timeline right. I loved seeing the glimpses into future and the kids.
How could you not after this? I didn't want to read this book because it didn't want them to officially be over. But I'm so glad I did! Cross and Catherine are everything good love stories entail. And everything that they go though to get to that happy place is just that. Adding the kids to these stories just melts my heart. If you are a fan of these two, you'll not be disappointed.
I absolutely loved this little novella/compilation! I’m gonna miss Catty and Cross but I feel so full filled and satisfied that I can’t really complain. Their story was such a journey and I’m thankful to Bethany for sharing the WHOLE story with us, since the very beginning to the very end. It wasn’t always easy and happy but that’s the fun part about life isn’t it?? I just loved this so much, Cross’s still my favorite though, I adore him to death.
To say that I'm okay with Cross and Catherine being finished would be a lie however, this ending was everything I needed to get over it. I love them like real people and their beautiful story will stick with me forever.
Can I ask for Nazio and Rosalynn's story now? Too soon?
The companion ties up all the loose ends and fills all the secret spaces one may have discovered in the Catherine and Cross series. Very thorough recap of the start and development of each relationship. The POV of each character just adds more depth to their stories. Nicely done.
I have yet to read a Bethany Kris book that I did not thoroughly enjoy. The way the stories weave in other characters from her various books takes the reader on a very pleasurable journey. " The Companion" filled in gaps which expanded on occurrences along the journey. I will most definitely visit these travels again.
I loved this whole series but i find i never really know when to read the companions novels but i love them cause it gives me a little extra of the characters and it leads into the future perfectly.
I liked that there was no anxiety wondering what will happen next. This family is now familiar. I even shed a tear when Cross was “sad.” I would have liked to see more of Cece & Juan. I look forward to Naz’s story.
