Genre: Poetry ('musings' as the author prefers to call it👌)
This is the most beautiful book which I have read this year in terms of 👍 cover, 👍content, 👍the sketch at the start, 👍 a book about women by a woman, 👍the colourful & meaningful pink pages merging with the thoughtful & vengeful white ones!
🔖Highlights:
✔️The lines are well versed, poetic as well as straightforward
✔️The font size and the paper quality seem too good to be true👌
✔️Every page hits your senses : Is it a blessing or a curse to be born as a woman?
✔️Not only 'strangers' hurt the innocent little girls; it is the only familiar ones that do
✔️No word/sentence seems exaggerated & it would be really wrong of you if you think that this book talks about being a feminist
✔️You will know how the life of being born as a female is being treated as:
Right before even being born till she leaves the world
✔️This book is not only for the women or the girls to read. This is a book to be read by everyone young and old; especially the so called 'educated' and the 'heads' of the family.
I recommend this book to everyone especially if you want to gift a good book to someone you really care about.
My favourite?
"She could fight the strangers with all her might. What could she do when the adversaries were her own people?"
✔️Relatable indeed👍

✴️Just pick up this one, you will keep this one forever with you!

‘Such is Her Life’ by Reecha Agarwal Goyal is a collection of musings by the author. The book covers snippets of experiences, of realities, of dreams and of needs.

It is the twenty first century and yet it is worse than being in the dark ages for as section of the population in this world. It is not just in our country that women are treated as second class citizen, but it happens around the world. But somewhere down the line, it is worse for the women in our country. From the moment a baby girl is conceived in the womb to moment they breathe their last, their lives are not their own. First hurdle lies whether they survive long enough to be born… a lot of the girls never even get to see the light of the day and breathe their last in the womb for no other reason than the fact that they were girls. IF they are lucky to be born, their lives are dictated by the males in their family and by this patriarchal society. The burden of honor, the burden of caring and the burden of carrying their crushed dreams are placed on them to make sure they do not get to spread their wings… Ever.

Ms.Reecha captures the many moments of trials and tribulations that have become a way of life for most women. A glimpse into an ordinary moment in a woman’s life can tell you a lot not only about her, but also the society that we live in. But hey, the book is not all gloom and doom. There are certain ‘soft’ moments captured in the book as well; for instance the verse about a girl missing her dad or a mother breastfeeding ; that kind of gives the resemblance of balance to the book. But if you feel that it was mostly doom and gloom – don’t blame the author.

Such is HER Life by Reecha Agarwal is collections of musings that will make you smile, cry, nod and burn with anger. It's an emotional rollercoaster. Its a satire on our Sterno type society. Everyone can relate to every single word written in book. It's truly a relearning. The cover is very beautiful and the title is just so perfect. Every page held so much emotion and will leave you with so much to think. This is Love.

‘You know her as a mother, daughter, sister, wife, daughter-in-law.
But seldom as a woman . . .
And maybe never as a human!’

These words meet you as soon as you turn the book to read its blurb. And they are going to ring aloud in your ears, making you numb as the screams from the pages hit your brain, and your soul will be stirred.

Such is HER Life is an assortment of musings which are powerful enough to shake your spirit. It deals with different aspects of HER life of which we are unaware. We seldom give it a thought that how our actions and perceptions have ruined a life. But once we get to listen to the plight of that grief-stricken Life, we are stunned. This book will demand you to be all ears so pick it up, only if you can bear to read and swallow the truth.

A child is born in her mother’s womb because she is a girl. A girl succumbs to death right after her birth because she is a girl. A girl is criticised if she chooses herself over others. A girl is expected to work like a maid in her in-laws’ house because this is her duty. A girl endures atrocities of a ruthless acid attack. A girl is not meant to move about freely because, after a certain age, she is taught to behave ‘properly.’ A girl is still a curse for the ill-minded society. A girl is groped and made to satisfy the lust of others because this is what she is born for. Her body is sold off because that brings in money. She is married at a young age and the dreams are destroyed. She can’t even say that yes, I bleed because what would others think of her. She fears to hear that she is beautiful because then an impending rape awaits her. If she looks nice, all she is ‘inviting’ for the wolves to pounce upon her. And while she decides to take pride in herself, she is labeled as rude and brazen!
The book is crisp and says a lot in the fewer words. Those words prick you, pierce your conscience and forces you to contemplate over the situations. The conditions have never been favorable for a woman to survive and thrive but still, she tolerates it all because a stubborn spirit dominates her body. She has a strong will but even that fumbles and stumbles when her own kith and kin refute her. It pains to read through each page of this book. Truly, it is a small boo of big learnings!

The cover is symbolic of the variety of ideas present in the mind of a woman. It perfectly complements the content of the book. And each page has a different story to move you.
If you have the courage to face the harsh truth, then go for this book. It won’t take much of your time to read it but it will give you a point to think over. So, be prepared to give keep aside a good portion of your time aside if you choose to pick this one!

“You are better than a son” he said
She wept “ ‘Son’ was still the standards”

This line describes perfectly the subject of the book. There are many favourite stories but this line I liked the most.

It is short book basically a collection of musings or we can say very short stories. I finished in one sitting. Wonderfully written. I loved the cover. It takes a huge effort to to fit such tiny stories in limited amount of words and the meaning of it still persists. I really appreciate that. Each story touched my heart. Emotions are well carved. Being in my mid twenties, I can related so many stories and working in people in rural areas, I know that mentioned situation still persists and book like this must be encouraged and read. This might be initial step to change point of view of society. Loved it !! And forgot to mention I loved the in between pink pages !!

OMG!

Such is HER Life is a short but a powerful read. The author, with her lines and musings have aptly described about the conditions and struggles of women. Even after 72 years of Independence, the women of our country still not feel safe and protected. Heinous crimes against women are taking place almost everyday - Female infanticide, Rape, Honour Killing, Domestic Violence, etc etc ( to name a few ).

"True, they loved playing with their kitchen sets. That didn't mean they wanted to spend their lives in it."

The book contains quotes which are put together with simple words but hold deep meaning. The author narrates the heartbreaking atrocities faced by a girl starting from the time when she was just in the womb to her old age. The plight of girls is heartbreaking. In some parts of India, a girl is still treated as an item, a maid, a whore but never as a human. This book will make you cry, cringe and nod in anger.

The cover design - the birds flying from a woman's head represents the feeling of freedom and independence that a girl, a woman crave for. It's definitely a short read but will shake you to the core. If you have the courage to face the harsh truth, then go for this book.

" Describe yourself

"Fragile but Unbreakable" "

Definitely Recommended!

Such is HER life , as the name says , is a collection of snippets by the author based on the life of a woman. The book takes us on a journey and gives us a peak into the life of a woman , right from the time she is born till the end of her life. The hardships of a woman isn't hidden but this book just collects those pieces in one tiny book for the readers to feel connected.

She was killed the day she was the most excited - the day her parents saw her on the ultrasound screen.

It all starts when a "woman"conceives a baby and the first question raised to her is - IT'S A BOY , RIGHT? There should be no second guessing on how the family would react if it's a girl. A baby isn't even born yet and we can see how gender discrimination begins from the womb itself.

"Uncle it's hurting .. I don't want this.. kept wailing the four year old until she passed out.

The baby girl is welcomed in this world with a set of rules and restrictions. Rules that are not universal for both the genders but only for girls. She isn't allowed to go to school because educations is a boy thing. A girl eventually has to get married and sent away. She isn't allowed to wear short dresses because the males around her have no restrictions and definitely no shame.

"Gorgeous", said the mirror.
"Inviting!" screamed the society.

Welcome to adulthood. You have reached this stage which is quite an achievement. Most girls don't make it till here. But from here you'll have a new and constant companion - SOCIETY. A rather judgemental companion that will mock you at every step of life. Whether it is for your short dress or that stain on your jeans.

She stared at the marriage certificate. So this is the piece of paper that gives him the power to rape me every night.

The day is here. You are getting married. But there are some ground rules. Obey what your husband says. Please him , satisfy him , it's your duty. Listen to what your in-laws tell you else you'll be shamed by the society.

And it all ends finally. The set of rules , the derogatory remarks and the constant disapproval of the society. No , she wasn't accepted with open arms by the society but her grave accepted her ; without judging.

Definitely must read.

Book : Such is her life
Author : Reecha Agarwal Goyal
Rating : *****5/5

First of all hats off to the writer Reecha Agarwal Goyal. What a fantastic book.

The cover of the book is just too alluring with the flying birds from a women's face which shows freedom, independence, freedom of thinking, freedom of living which she deserves.

Small but super powerful book with excellent description of woman's life, struggle she faces from the time of birth till she dies. Her insecurities, her challenges, her limitations, rules n regulations everything she suffers in her life. At the same time boys leads purely normal life.

For her everything is selected by others, she gets all second hand things which has been already used by her brother. She cant even choose her favorite subject, favorite activity, not even her life partner. She cant raise her voice. She cant give suggestions.
She has age limit for everything, to sit properly, to get married and even to become a mother.

She is gorgeous to herself but she INVITING to the society. Her dress speaks her character.Compromise word is invented only for HER.
Even the color of her skin comes first then her abilities.
There is so much to express, so much to write but no more words, my feelings have over powered the words.

One of the best book i have read so far.

Thank you so much Reecha Maam for wonderful book full of reality.

Such is her life by Reecha Agarwal Goyal is a collection of musings on being a girl in this world. Every page has a few powerful lines aiming to convey their sentiments. How the struggle of a girl begins even before she is born. The book tells some very vivid and heartbreaking truths of being a girl child. Her struggles and the atrocities that are done to her. The subjects touched upon include female foeticide, sexual and domestic abuse, slut-shaming, sexism, and our society’s obsession with having only a boy child. The author doesn’t hold back and tells the truth of the situations girls are submitted to.

I loved the format of the book and the way it was illustrated. To be honest, I’m not a fan of this style of writing a book but I do appreciate the conveyance of powerful emotions through a few lines. I also admire the boldness of the author in her writing.
There were lines in this book that I loved and there were lines that I found very simple in comparison.

I would definitely recommend this book. It can be read in one sitting. It makes you think and reflect on some of the injustices of this world. I hope more people read books like this and change their mindsets regarding women.

Such is her life is a list of powerful collections of so-called Daily life themes in the life of a Women or Girl. Being a male I was able to learn and understands how much hardships and encounters a woman faces in her day to day life.

As the blurb says "Get ready... its time to learn and unlearn", there are many things in the life of a woman a man takes for granted and there are only a few men who really understands women.

The phrases used in the book are beautifully engraved on pinching in every aspect of the life of women starting before her birth, her childhood and every phase of her under every stretch of the imagination

Such is Her Life is the debut work of writer Reecha Goyal published earlier this year. It is a heartwarming collection of thoughts. These thoughts are based mostly on reality and presented to us as a reader in the form of musings. It is as clear and raw as if I, the reader is picking on her brain.

Expressed over 184 pages long, the whole concept works well as it contains around 150 musings. The common theme of these musings is the role a woman plays in lives of everyone as a mother, daughter, sister, wife, daughter-in-law, but societal norms do not appreciate all the effort to the life giver herself. I know that the western world has accepted or adapted or changed for the better over the period of time with some force but societies in countries like India are still retrograded. Some of these musings are short and some are long enough to make you think what a woman has to go through in every phase of her life.

Some of the author's thoughts are bold for the society to absorb and I think this is what we need. Some of the highlights of this book are honor killing, dowry, neglection, societal expectations, gender discrimination and the tenderness of a mother or a woman in love. It talks about these realities in lesser words that will make one think hard. Written in simple language, some of these proses are going to stay with me for a long time. Hats off to the publishing team by coming with a genuinely themed book that does match with the theme of the book.

4 out of 5!

A collection of musings that will have you reeling in a wave of emotion long after you are done reading, this powerhouse of work will make you smile, cry,go red in anger, nod your head in agreement, and grasp the finer nuances of what it means to be her in today's world. It also talks about some sensitive issues like rape, molestation, dowry, domestic violence, killing etc.

Some of my favourite musings are -
a) She is like a man - a big compliment. He is like a woman - nothing can be degrading. Isn't there something wrong, something fundamentally wrong with their mindsets?
b) She doesn't wear a mangalsutra ,or wear a sindoor. She doesn't even look married. When was being married about participating in a fancy dress competition?she thought, confused.

The iconic womania reflects through this book.

Reading 'Such is her life' was a tough task; partly because it showed me a mirror-like none other, and partly because it made me want to enlist every woman I know into reading it urgently.

A life-altering manual on how women can take back control by changing behavior traits that are crippling their career advancement, the book neatly outlines habits or personality traits that women often develop in their professional journeys, by outlining stellar case studies that decode each `obstructive pattern' bit by bit.

The biggest paralyzing factor in Indian organizations even today is the use of `gender diversity' as a buzzword without making room for real change. A deeper look reveals that our corporate system is hardly geared to factor in challenges that women face each day, especially since their measurement of performance in what can only be called `generic metrics' of advancement, is one of the major reasons women are still undervalued. We do not know how to acknowledge leadership strengths that women bring to the table because male leaders simply do not understand the strengths women bring to the table. Sadly, our cultural reality reeks of mansplaining and requiring women to lead `more like men' – a myth this book beautifully breaks.

The book recognizes that at the workplace, the roadblocks women face significantly differ from the roadblocks that men face, and the first stakeholder who should realize this should be the women professionals. Author's ground-rule request in the book is for women to ™stop being so hard on yourself∫, and he further outlines common hallmarks of conduct that prove as caution lights in women's road to success. These are reluctance to claim achievements, expecting others to spontaneously notice and reward contributions, overvaluing expertise, just building and not building and leveraging relationships, failure to enlist allies from day one, putting the job before your career, the perfection trap, the disease to please, minimizing, too much ruminating, and letting the radar distract.

The book encourages women to acknowledge that culture and structure don't lie within their control, whereas their own behavior and habits do. And that's the best place to start improving in order to enrich the quality of their lives at work and the prospects for reaching full potential. If women want to raise others effectively, they need to start with themselves first.

The authors conclude that there are three broad beliefs that keep women stuck: ™Ambition is a bad thing; Being a good person means not disappointing others; and Women should always be role models for other women.∫ This hypothesis rings especially true for the Indian women managers, leaders, who are often too busy concentrating on their jobs vs. advancing their careers ± another gem of a perspective that book outlines.

Personally, the biggest lesson that Author Reecha Goyal have taught through the book is to effectively break the disease to please by learning to say `no' when due. The examples stated in the book perfectly elucidate the three-step process that is simple yet effective in bringing about and enlisting change – focusing on a single habit at first, asking your peers or those close to you for support, and lastly, declaring your intention to stick to it, so that the environment can also reflect the change you wish to bring to it.

I have read many books on women leadership and enhancement but `Such is her life' breaks the inertia and sets you on a path to measurable action. I found myself hoping I had access to a guide like this sooner, and promising that I will pass this one on for generations to come.

"Fragile but unbreakable".

Reading 'Such is her life' is like seeing the whole painful, laborious and tough journey of every women from a girl to a elder lady. The book is a collection of musings on women's life. The author brilliantly written the thoughts on the life of a woman right from she is in her mother's womb, her teenage journey, her marriage life, elder lady to her death.

The author amazingly shows the clear picture of the daily life of every women in family and in her marriage life, like she has to endlessly work, cook, wash, iron the clothes, and many more despite of getting respect and love from her husband and family. At many points, the author talked about the lovely father daughter relationship very well. The book talks about various and common problems of a woman's life as the child death, child abuse, getting raped, physical and mental harassment, acid attack and many more.

The narration of the book is very unique and impressive, which is so amazingly written by the author that I'm sure you can and you will finish it in no time, as i have said above. I love the way of narration and writing style of the book very much. The book displays very deep thoughts, I enjoyed reading the book and i love it right from it's cover to the length as it is very light read.

Starting from the cover is alluring the birds flying from a woman’s head represents the feeling of freedom that a women seeks. The title “Such Is Her Life” is different and interesting. As the title suggest it’s a collection of musings on women’s life.

The author has beautifully crafted all the life of a woman right from the time she is in her mothers womb till the time of her death. Musing are written day to day life of female goes through she is raped, rape, child abuse, sexually, mentally, physically, gender discrimination, acid attack, killing, and many others. The best part about these musings was that they were relatable, each and every girl can feel but never truly express herself to people and the things around us. You will feel the magic of words. How a bunch of few words will move you and you happen to close the book and think about rights of women.
Words. That they give voice to your inner most feelings.

The words were simple and the language is lucid which eased the reading. Perfectly portrayed the feelings and narration was intresting. The first thing I did was to check out if the pages were pink too and guess what yes few pages are pink and poetic verses. It’s simply adorable.

4.50 a.m.: She was born.

4.51 a.m.: She was handed over an invisible moral code of conduct!

Forgetting easily was a gift.

A gift she wasn’t blessed with.

Until yesterday, she was scared of ghosts.

Today she is terrified of people.

Life kept changing and she kept accepting it. Until the day she started questing. And that changed the game. Changed her life.

they found her strange and weird.

She found herself unconventional and unique.

While everyone else left, it was her dad who shielded her through all the earthquakes of her life.

Her dad, her only hero!

She was thrilled to bits on seeing her grandchildren play around her.

It was the first day of the month.

The day when they visited her-visited her at the old age home.

Looking forward to read more books by the author.

Review-

Her mind kept warning, "He is fooling around with you."

Her heart kept replying, "Let him."

This one quote shows how pure a lady's heart is and how even after knowing this cruel world she doesn't speak a word against the world's cruelty.  Not just this one quote by Author, but there are more quotes in this book filled with quotes which will definitely change your views towards female gender and also make you understand what position do they deserve in your life. I come across quotes almost every day in my life but when everywhere it's about love and betrayals, this book has shown me a new kind of world in very few words. A first book by the Author and the mind blowing one. Grab this book and don't just read it in a single go as it's a short read but take time to understand every quote the author has penned and see where you stand in your life when it comes to humanity and justice. All I could think while reading this book at the beginning was about my mother and sister. By the end of this book all I could think was about this world's every girl and the injustice she goes through.

Such is her life

This book is a beautiful composition of musings. They've been written in such a way, crafted with fragments that lingers in your soul. With each musing that proceeds in the book, it will tear the readers apart. It will leave them asking for more, not only will it touch the their heart but also their soul.
Their minds will get enchanted enough to feel the depth which lies deep in every page of the book.

It's very rare to find a short book which holds the potential to move us, touch our souls upto a certain depth leaving a deep impact on our lives which lingers for a very long time.

Somehow her expanding waistline, double chin, and ballooning limbs seemed to bother others more than they troubled her.

She demanded a lot of answers. She just didn't know whom to question!

Until yesterday, she was scared of ghosts. Today, she's terrified of people.

What if she's not thrown on the floor, pushed against the wall, or shoved in the bed? They rape her with their glances everyday.

Short writing isn't something which can be appreciated by everybody. Only those who are willing to learn their meanings, contribute to their essence predominantly, enhance their creative productivity in a robust manner, can truly appreciate the deep effervescence which lies within them.

Language is beautiful, riveting, easy to understand. Narration is remarkable. A very powerful, a must read, riveting, enchanting, heartbreakingly poignant novel! A must book for all the girls out there. I recommend this book to all!

//One fine day she stopped explaining.
Period.//

"Such is Her life" by Reecha Agarwal Goyal is a book of short musings and quotes that'll definitely give you goosebumps at some point or the other.
The book talks about each phases of a woman and the hurdles she faces throughout her life.
The book doesn't claims to have any long poetry rather it has some microtales or short stories carved beautifully in few lines.

The cover and title completely justifies the book and its content. Honestly, I am a admirer of long literary works and poetries with opulent choice of words yet I completely adore this book of 170 miniscule which contains very few poetic terms because the book has truly relevant contents with rollercoaster of emotions that'll hit you to the core at many points.

I've no idea if this book lies under the modern poetry genre or not because as I asserted the book doesn't claims to have poetries yet it now holds a special place on my shelf because the work is absolutely intriguing, heart-wrenching and heartwarming at the same time.

I'm giving this book 4.7 star ignoring some repetitive words and the fact that I'm a complex poetry lover just because it has hauntingly touched my heart with its absolute relevant lines.

Overall, this book is beautiful inside out and contains myriad of emotions of a woman's life and her existence. Totally recommended to everyone out there but specifically to the people who love short quotes with easy read.

Thanks to the author for sending me the review copy.✨

This book is a surprise in such a gut-kicking small book with so many things to learn. This book is focused about women and her life right from birth to all the incidents she faces in her life. All the daily trouble one faces being a girl - stares, inequality and hate. All the problems faced by each and every women at one point of her life.

These musings will make you think over again. The wordplay in each poem is really brilliant.

This book has so many important topics discussed in such little words which is an amazing job done by the author. The cover shows a face of a lady where from birds are leaving which shows a sign of liberating and also how so many things keep going under her mind.  The title of the book is simple. The little musings range from all her problems to love and day to day issues she goes through. Right from the beginning women have been supressed and denied of all the rights. What you will really love about the book is these poems/stories will make you think so much and relate to oh yeah this happened with me too. The words are easy to understand. Each poem ha another meaning to it. Each page has another story to tell and rage about. You will absolutely be glued to the book and finish it in one read. The book will take you through a rollercoaster of emotions. This book is a must read and is also on the amazons best read for the month so you should get your copy right now! An amazing book I got to read in a while. Really refreshing.

Such is HER life is one of the most amazing book I have ever read. An awestruck work by author@reechaagarwal. Such is HER life is a collection of musing that will give you goose bumps with a taste of reality. The book talks about every aspect a Woman faces from being born as a child to growing up as a girl from learning to be a lady to handling the house as a wife to taking care of her grandchildren when she turns old.
The book brings a spotlight on all the struggles that has been brought forward by society in being born as a Woman. It's a collection of Musings that highlight on
- How society abashes the very womb that is going to give birth to a girl child
- Girls being raped at the age where they are yet to learn the word 'Rape'
- ‎Society being biased on educating Girls.
- ‎Woman being underestimated even after being performed more than average.
- ‎How a lady should look, walk, talk as per Society.
- ‎Woman being heartbroken because of the only person they ever loved.
- ‎ Woman being married to a man where they aren't respected or loved.

The book most importantly speaks Emotions of a Woman when she is a Girl, a Lady, A lover, A mother, A wife and most importantly out of all when SHE is a Human. Few of the most heart touching musings are being uploaded herein for you to know that this book is really a work of Art.

Grab your copies Now and know what it means to be HER in today's world.

^^^BOOK REVIEW ^^^
'Such is HER Life' by Reecha Agarwal Goyal
💠
This book is a collection of women centric poems! These are not soul soothing poems..these poems fill you with rage..make you feel disgust of the discrimination..smile and cry at the same time! These poetries are dark but so much relatable in this outer 'perfect' society containing all the dark and dirty preaches hidden underneath!
💠
#WRITING: As a poetry lover and being a woman this book is like a gem! The writing is so good and modern... Perfect example that you don't need a full page of poetry to touch the heart of readers...only 2-4 lines can do!❤ One of the best modern poetry I've read 😇
💠
#MY_VIEWS: I love this book inside out...love the cover...and those pink pages! Author has shown how the reference of women through 'pink', a soft colour..can do wonders by putting those impact full and soul awakening words in this wonderful piece of work!😇
But the thing that I didn't like...is the over emphasise of the degraded conditions of women..as in my opinion by focusing on empowerment of what a woman can do..rather than what she can't..would be more applauding😇
💠
Over all a wonderful piece of work on women...if you love modern poetries ..do pick it up this book❤

Today this book came by noon , I read 3 -4 pages and I couldn't control myself from reading it till the end .

For me the book must get 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Firstly mam @reecha.agarwal thank you for sending this review copy to me and actually I am thankful to you for such a good writing.

The book has a collection of snippets and takes us on a journey , from the time she is born till death .

The very fast snippet says --- " She was killed the day she was the most excited - the day her parents saw her on ultrasound screen"

The girls are always bound by limitations, rules , regulations , but for a boy all seems so normal. After marriage if she speaks it's her fault , if she doesn't speak and keeps quite , still it's her fault . As if she has takes responsibility of faults .
The book is full of learnings for those who thinks girls are weak , they can't survive if men aren't with them and for those who thinks girls are a matter of toy for playing with them , do whatever you want and throw her to the streets to die .
The whole book depicts how difficult it is for a girl child , how she has to face harassments daily , still she covers her emotions, depression everything under her smile .
This is a kind of book I would love to read it again and again, because it's plot is so strong and actually emotional
