“Michelle Stimpson will have you laughing, crying and relating to each of her vivid, vocal characters.” —AAMBC Book Reviews
Camille Robertson had her fifteen minutes of fame in the late ’90s with the sexy R&B girl group Sweet Treats. Now she works as a telemarketer and longs for the past. With her thirtieth birthday around the corner, Camille is determined to break back into the music industry. But her new agent says her only chance is to reinvent herself—as a gospel singer. So Camille joins the nearest mega church, headed by handsome worship leader, Ronald Shepherd. She quickly wows the choir and orchestrates a plan to secretly record herself and make a demo. But when she and Ronald sing a duet, it ignites a spark for them both—and leaves Camille conflicted. She’s just not willing to let go of her dream—even if it means using him to get there. Before long, Camille finds herself betraying the people she cares about most. Can she have love, forgiveness, faith— and fame?
“Her spiritual perspective adds depth that has you pondering her characters long after the book is done.” —Tiffany L. Warren, Essence ® bestselling author
“Michelle Stimpson does a wonderful job of creating characters that are believable and loveable.”—Good Girl Book Club
Hello, Goodreads community! I'm Michelle Stimpson, and storytelling is my heartbeat. I've found my calling in penning heartwarming women's fiction that offers a seat at the table of family, humor, and hope. As an author, my greatest joy comes from crafting narratives that resonate with anyone seeking to find laughter and light in the pages of a good book. My tagline, 'Read. Love. Repeat.', is a promise of the emotional journey I aim to provide—engaging stories you’ll love and yearn to revisit.
The things that God allows us to go through before we realize that we need HIM to intervene. The word I gets all of us in trouble because we know we can't or don't have the capability to do what God can. Camille is so focused on everything that has went wrong, she can't hear God talking to her.
I enjoyed this book. It shows how easily we can get distracted from God. It discusses each of the main character's flaws. It allowed the reader to see how the enemy tries to attack you and keep your focus on him. The book even provided an insight into the music industry and its manipulations.
I lost several hours of sleep to finish this book. Stimpson does an amazing job of depicting a woman who is on the spiritual fence--she knows of God but doesn't really know God. Through her many trials and tribulations, she discovers what a true relationship with God is about. I laughed out loud, more than once, and completely understood how her circumstances interfered with her ability to draw closer to God. You will too.
I wanted to like this book. I really did. I appreciate redemption stories, and those entail starting with characters who make questionable choices. However, if I'm going to follow a character through her journey, I can't be exasperated and annoyed for chapters on end. There needs to be a reason to care, and Camille's attitudes and actions lack even a hint of subtlety.
I enjoyed reading this book. There were many lessons learned. God is always with us and despite of the things we do He already knows it before we do it while having an answer and solution for the problems we get ourselves into. God knows when our hearts are "ripe for picking" so that we can make a quality decision to let him in our lives and lead us into His divine plan for lives. Lastly, lying is never a good thing. It's a spirit from Satan and cannot ever give you peace. Only walking in the Spirit of Truth can make us free. He always causes things to work out for His people... simply because He loves us unconditionally. GOOD READ
I know this was a romance book, but the illustration of falling into grace was awesome. We serve a God of so many chances. We just like Camille know the right thing to do, yet we allow self to distract us and tell us what we want to here. We pray yet we don't listen to Gods answer, we want what we want, when we want it. As always, this man who died for our sins, gave his only son for our life, hung, bleed and rose for us, GIVES US GRACE! WOW, now that's a man worth living for. Thank you God for all your many blessings.
This started as a group listen on a girls trip out west. Of course, listening to an audiobook in the middle of the nothing-but-sky-and-land may not be the best way to stay awake; but back in civilization, this was a very entertaining audiobook.
I’m not sure if I’m convinced to be a cat person yet, but this was a good reminder that God’s plans work. I just have to be patient enough to see them through.
This taught about you reap what you sow. When you sow good seeds they flourish. When you do bad seeds they also come back up. Other lessons if you have a calling on your life there is nothing the enemy can do about it. When God wants to use you He will and there is nothing you can do about it. My only issue as with most of this author’s books the ending leaves me hanging. It only gives a glimpse of what happens to the characters.
2. This was a simple cute story line with no twists or surprises. The author illustrated forgiveness and how God redeems his children in spite of our imperfections.
3. The end of the book was a bit rushed and incomplete. I wish the author provided more details about Camille’s relationship with Ronald, reconciling with her brother and the reunion with the singing group.
I typically don't like books where the main character spends the whole time lying, especially when the relationships she starts are built on lies, and I didn't like it in this book either. Camille was very difficult to like, though I did like the side characters like Mercedes and Cheryl and Britney.
I really enjoyed reading this book and it kept my interest. It is definitely that people join churches and choirs for the wrong reason, but if you are around Christians who love the Lord long enough Jesus will reveal himself and shine in your life!
I highly recommend this book to everyone! I had a hard time figuring out where it was going at first, but wow! One of the best things ever is a very clear and powerful demonstration of the grace of God. Very well done!
Found this book in a library sluff off shelf, and grabbed it based on premise. I can honestly say that this book took me on a journey I had no way of knowing I would go on. I also didn't anticipate identifying so much with the main character. I even recommended the book before I finished it!
I usually don't do just straight drama/romance stories. I like a little suspense or mystery. But this one was actually good. It kept my interest the whole time and was even funny. Flowed well.
Camille's dream of singing again was all she could think of. She began thinking of a way back into the industry, first she called on her old singing group the "Sweet Treats who could possibly sing Destiny's Child under a rug. But the group broke up before they really got started.
Camille is broke, and desperate to get it all back so she begins by calling each member of the Sweet Treats to ask if they are interested in revamping the group. As the book continues, relationships are created, joy happens, and then a few of the characters find themselves standing in a valley of dry bones, not really sure how to ask God to give them life..in the way He did for Ezekiel.
This was an extraordinary book that really had wonderful character just like you and me, some in church, some forgot about church and others had no intention of being churched.
Very inspiring story. Camille Robinson had it all, and lost it real quick. Camille was a singer with The Sweet Treats, but now she is broke working in a dead end job. Camille finds a producer that will help her get back into singing; gospel. Camille must join a church and become part of their choir, so she could produce a demo. One becoming involved with the choir, Camille became friends and made connections with the people she set out to deceive. Camille has feelings for the minister of music; Ronald. They began to hangout, until her lies catch up with her. Camille realizes that she serves a mighty good God and he placed a mighty good man in her life. Awesome story of encouragement…….
Falling into Grace was a very inspiring book. This is the tale of Camille Robinson a once famous singer who is back on the bottom with the rest of the world. From the start her financial woes wear on her, her fallen stardom haunts her, and her burnt bridges have caught up to her. However during this powerful very real novel Camille reluctantly accepts that we all need God and can hear God if we listen closely. I loved every word of this book. I watched Camille go from weary to inspiring and it was exactly the kind of book to relax to on a hard days work and reflect to see a change will come! Great book!
I won this book from the goodreads giveaway. It was a really good book about a woman search to regain her lost fame as a singer. In the process she meets the man of her dreams and struggles with the choice to go for the fame or the new found faith in God and the man of her dreams. A really good book.
My face hurts from laughing at Camille's antics on her return to music. The cast of characters including a cat showed how God will use ambition, greed, lies and forgiveness to change Camille's direction! "Falling Into Grace" made want to shake Camille, clap for Ronald and pray for Bobby Junior! Kudos Ms. Stimpson! This is some highly recommended reading!
I love Michelle Stimpson and enjoyed the book but really disliked Camille. Every thing was someone else fault but her own. She wasa liar and deceitful but I guess she had redeeming qualities. I felt like she really should have it rock bottom more than she did.
An easy, quick read. Got me thinking about how stubborn I can be when I want something in my own life and there seem to be constant "roadblocks". I need to just talk to and trust God during those times.
Michelle Stimpson has done it again with this excellent story regarding a woman Camille Robertson, who was once apart of a limited successful girl group. Overall an excellent story of recieving grace. I love Mrs. Stimpson's work and look forward to the next one.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, where she came around and found herself and God in the process. We all go through things and it's good to see people grow...even if it is fiction, it's somebody's story
It took me a long time to get into this read but once I got into it, it did not disappoint. Camille got on my dang nerves but she got what she deserved in the end. The story seemed to stretch out too long but it was still a good read.
I received this book through first reads. I thought "Falling into Grace" was awfully predictable. I didn't really like the characters (too one dimensional for me).
