As summer rolls around in the Florida Keys and the tourists head north, former Navy SEAL Logan Dodge has nothing on his mind but the ocean and enjoying the company of his buddies and his beautiful new girlfriend.
But with Summer comes hurricane season, and strong winds and heavy rains aren’t the only troubles a-brewin' in paradise.
When Logan hears gunshots on an island in Dry Tortugas, he investigates and soon finds himself standing between an innocent young family and a ruthless gang hell-bent on murdering them.
Stranded and with the odds stacked heavily against him, Logan fights off wave after wave of heavily armed thugs single-handedly in an effort that will push him to his limits and beyond.
Only one side can win in this heart-pounding, guns blazing, fists flying, adrenaline-packed adventure in the Florida Keys.
Matthew is the author of the Florida Keys Adventure Series and the Jason Wake Novels. He's always had a deep rooted love for adventure and the ocean. He loves traveling, diving, rock climbing and writing adventure novels.
I don't usually give four stars to this type of novel. This one qualifies on action alone.
Basic action thriller plot. Former SEAL taking on a group of bad guys. Dodge does this while in the midst of a tropical storm. And the baddies just keep coming. Being a former SEAL, Dodge is more than a match for a group of Cuban gangbangers.
Logan continues to fight the good fight; this time when he notices a ship in distress on an uninhabited island in the Keys while Tropical Storm Fay is lurking. This 2nd book in the series is extremely violent but the ex Navy Seal perseveres.
Paradise lost. Sam tells Logan she is leaving him. She is engaged to a guy she had been going with for 10 years. He takes his zodiac and heads for an island that isn't on anybody's map, inspite of the fact that hurricane Fay is headed in their direction. When the storm gets too bad and he starts heading back, he hears gunshots. He reaches land in time to help a family being accosted by thugs. The familie's troubles are just beginning. The father is the lawyer that got drug lord Salazar sentenced to two life terms with no parole. When he escapes prison, he seems to have no end of a supply of henchmen to murder the family. Can Logan take them all on?
I enjoy continuing this series. I started in the middle with book 6. Now going to the beginning since the content is interesting enough to read the whole series. As with most book series, it’s good to be introduced to the characters as they come into the picture. The stories always provide adventure, challenges, tranquility, and suspense. Perhaps the reason I’m hooked is that I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in Key West, but not in the other string of islands. Therefore it gives me joy to refresh my memories of Key West locations, while learning more about the chain of islands leading to it. Happy reading to all…
While it still makes SEAL's seem larger than life, this author shows some great weapons & tactics sense. Shows this character to have a MacGyver mentality which I think most team members would agree is one of the best things to have. Looking forward to the next installment...write faster please!
Many, many typos, both poor English and misspellings. Has a bad habit of describing in excruciating detail the minutiae of life which has no bearing on plot lines. (How he made a pot of coffee in the morning, etc., etc.) All in all, I spent more attention editing the book than enjoying the action-filled plot.
I like Tom Clancy and this is very similar. Also very Clive Cussler- like. Macho and lots of body count, some development of the main character.. but over all.. a fast read and satisfying for its bang- shoot-up style and good ending. Not a thinking book.. but has its satisfaction at the end.
Having lived in Key West and The Florida Keys I am reminded of the places in Key West based on the descriptions. One thing I don’t recall is crashing waves unless the winds are strong or there is storm approaching. Certainly no waves crashing on the beach.
Good Logan Dodge " I can kill more bad guys than you " tale. Full of action, but my favorite part is the fresh seafood description whether in fantastic restaurant or in the bush. Mouthwatering!
I really enjoyed this book. Logon seems to have trouble fall into his lap where ever he goes. This one keeps you anticipating what will crop up next. He seems to have nine life's too.
I'm loving reading this author's "Florida Keys Adventure Series". His writing is mesmerizing to the point that I began this book #2 yesterday afternoon and could not put it down since this morning. Can't wait to get to book #3.
The series with the character Logan Dodge is a fast action paced read and lots of diving which is right up my alley. I’m looking forward to starting the next book in this series.
A never ending action story that will keep you reading to the point you loose track of time. The details almost think you are right there watching Logan Dodge as he battles the international criminal element.
I was a writer. Then I could write out the script for my life! I would be as beautiful as Ange, as indestructible as Logan, as smart as..... Oh well, on to the next book! Just no more reality, OK!?!
From start to end, these characters are so rich in moral fortitude and unbelievable ability, it’s hard to stop reading even for a few hour. I love, love Logan, awl should always wear a big S on his chest. Thank you.
This is the first book by this author that I have read. It is full of adventure, action, a bit of romance, and life in the Keys. I love the characters! Very entertaining!!!
Logan seems to be super human and that makes this book: ‘On the edge of unbelievable’. There are many books being written in a similar context and I find Logan Dodge slipping to the lower choices of my reading preferences.
This second book by Matthew Rief is exciting, thrilling and a true page-Turner. I highly recommend it. I read it in a short time. It has a lot of action and is thought-provoking.
nice follow on to the first in the series. Really nice work developing the main characters personality. Will take some time and read the next book soon.
