Sparks fly between a sassy business graduate and a black belt mechanic when they join forces to save her brother’s business when his life is threatened.
When Alex Vance flees from a bad situation home to Tempest Beach, she is horrified to learn her brother, Dan, is in an induced coma. So he has a business to come back to when he regains consciousness Alex takes over the management of his motor workshop. The only problem is the head mechanic, Jake Lawson, thinks he knows everything.
If only he wasn't also funny, thoughtful and hot, Alex could ignore the attraction.
Black belt martial artist Jake Lawson has plans that don't include the sweet, but sassy Alex. She might be a smart woman, but a business degree isn't going to help her change engine oil or replace a wheel bearing. If only she didn't taste as sweet as she looked.
When the bank threatens to foreclose they have to work together to find a way to save Dan’s business.
The stakes are raised when a shady loan shark wants payback and Alex is fighting for Dan's life as well as his livelihood. And if she can't find a way to repay the debt, he's promised that she will be the one who pays the price.
Throw in a kick-ass crew of sexy martial artists and you've got yourself a delicious mix of adventure, mystery and mayhem, complete with a gorgeous beachside location and a love at first sight affair.
My favourite books to read are “kissing books” (full credit to ‘The Princess Bride’) and it’s safe to say if there isn’t at least a little bit of romance in a story then I’ll probably lose interest. So it won’t come as a surprise to learn that all of the stories I write have a romance at their core. Even the zombie ones!
I love all things creative, take way too many pictures of beachside sunsets and all the pretty flowers, and I believe in love at first sight.
The heroine, Alex, returns home to find her brother in a coma and a stranger (a hot one) in her brother's house and working at his garage. Alex was a great heroine, very funny and relatable, and a kick-ass chick. Jake was the PERFECT hero. Just the right mix of arrogant and sweet - and HE COOKS for her. If you know me, that's kind of my thing. I was pretty much sold on Jake when he made Alex pancakes.
There is some drama and the pace worked really well for me. The romance was very satisfying and there was a nice slow build to their *spark*
Side note - I've read a few Australian authors, but their books always seem to be set in the US and use US terminology. It was really fun for me as I learned quite a few Aussie terms.
I loved this book. It was my second book form Tracy, and it will not be my last. In this story we have Alex and Jake, which might I add I LOVE! Jake is by far the perfect hero. I also really enjoyed Alex, she was a character I was easily able to identify with. I am really looking forward to more from Tracy Brenton. She has a way of writing that pulls you in.
This was my first book by this author and it wont be my last. This book had me hooked from the start I never wanted to put it down. This is the story of Alex and Jake.
Alex, returns home to find her brother in a coma and a hot stranger in her brother's house and working at his garage.
Jake is by far the perfect hero. Just the right mix of arrogant and sweet but he also cooks. I love a man who can cook.
I can't wait for the second book in the Tempest Beach series.
4* Alex’s has no option but to run to the home she left years ago, but is surprised to find how much has changed. Jake is keeping things together at the garage Alex’s brother Dan owns since she’s just returned home news of the accident hits her hard. However nothing is as it seems with secrets & miscommunications. I loved the chemistry the characters , the friendships & can’t wait for the others stories. This story is a standalone and has a true ending. A new author for me & would definitely read more. A great new series I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
This is a solid romance with a bit of intrigue and danger thrown in. The plot was cogent, the characters likeable and the story had a good flow. I received a complimentary copy from VRO in return for an honest review.
Extremely entertaining, captivating, and interesting read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong characters. I want to read more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Good quick read. The characters were likeable and didn’t linger on their emotional issues, although it felt like there wasn’t enough interaction between them. Cute love at first sight story.
This was a sweet book. These characters are amazing and have a fantastic friendship with one another. Each of them have personalities that are similar, but different enough to make each one unique. They all bond together to try and help save the shop and find different ideas for the long term, but when crisis hits, they band together to take down the bad guy. I cannot wait to read more. I’m voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Welcome to Tempest Beach..paradise and home of true friends! This is my first book by this author but I will definitely won't be the last. The story-line is very believable. Alex and Jake were wonderful characters. As was all of the secondary "friends"- I can't wait to read their stories.
*I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book via Hidden Gems which I am voluntarily reviewing*
"I received an ARC copy of this book." This book was fantastic. Loved Alex and Jake. Loved the siblings bond that Alex would do what it takes for her brother. I can understand that on a personal level. Jake sounds hot!! Really liked the characters and the story between the two. Will read more from this author.
Loved this action packed romance with a strong, feisty female lead character and irresistible love interest, a fabulous beach setting and some mystery and intrigue thrown in, a fantastic and fun read
An absorbing and exciting book. I read this book in one day and enjoyed entering the lives of Alex, Jake and friends. This is a mystery romance with the mystery part holding my attention to the end. A brother in an induced coma and threats from a “creepy” man kept me glued to the end. This book was sent to me by Voracious Readers Only.
Amazing book!!! It was full of intrigue and action, sweetness and fun!! There was a building suspense throughout the book that had me quickly flipping the pages! I absolutely loved all the characters and cannot wait to go back to Tempest Bay to find out what happens to the rest of the crew! This was the first book I've read by this author but definitely won't be the last!
I received this book from Hidden Gems and l am volunteering to leave this review.
Alex has fled back home to Tempest Beach to visit her brother Dan. On arrival she finds out her parents’ house has burned down and her brother is in a coma in the hospital. Jake is Dan’s best friend and the head mechanic for her brother. They are at logger heads with each other but have chemistry. With a loan shark hanging around and Dan’s business in financial turmoil, this book has action, drama and a great story line.
This story has a little bit of mystery, adventure and romance. Alex comes home to her brother in a coma, and his apartment occupied by Jake Lawson. Alex tries to help out her brother, but the further she digs into his business, she find out how bad things are and they keep getting worse. At times, I wanted to slap Alex and other times I just wanted to say stop digging. Note to the author: Tom has the worst security agency ever!
I received an advance copy of his book and found it quite enjoyable. At times it felt as though the relationship jerked from anger to love a little too quickly, but overall I liked it and would read more in the series
Okay storyline and okay characters, for me personally there needs to be more character development in Alex and Jake to turn my okay read into a good read. I am voluntarily leaving this review after receiving an ARC.
