A year has passed since Louise Somerville stormed the Kali Institute in Edinburgh, leaving devastation in her wake.
The institute is home to more Adepts than ever. While some become an integral part of the team, others will cause nothing but heartache and pain.
Meanwhile, life is spiralling out of control for Kai Burton and Logan McKenzie.
The outlook is grim as both fight to survive one disaster after another while attempting to hold on to a friendship in ruins.
Time is running out as their lives careen towards an explosive ending which will see them face their darkest hours.

Oh my goodness...if you thought book one was kickass, you're in for a treat. The author has truly settled into her skin. Full mastery over the plot and the characters in it. Great character development. Villains you can hate but also sympathize with, heroes you can love but also scream at for being fools. Bits of humor throughout to bring a ray of light to the heart ache, but OH SO MUCH HEARTACHE. Malevolence (Book 1) did a fantastic job of making a connection with the characters. Emergence (Book 2) is going to hurt. No one is safe, but you won't be able to decide who's the most in trouble of your favorites (if you can choose a favorite at all).

For those of you new to the series, be sure to start with book one, Malevolence. I am typically a reader of strictly fantasy, and these books have deep, deep hooks. It is NOT just another sci-fi about having mind powers. Rather than being about the awesome audacity of being able to do stuff with the mind, F. R. Donaldson's books instead focus on the stress and responsibility [or insanity, god-complex] of having such powers, a refreshing twist.

It's clear that there was love and joy behind every word. I can't recommend this book enough.

...Amazing!!

If you're looking for a book you're never going to put down then you've found it. After reading Malevolence I felt so connected with the characters and this world that F.R. Donaldson has created within our current world.

I felt so connected and could feel every whisper of the wind and every emotion. I had goosebumps. I cried. I laughed. I had dreams about the characters as I fell asleep reading late into the night. I can't wait for the third book as the ending has made me want more.

Stop whatever you're doing right now, go pick up Malevolence, then read Emergence. I promise you won't regret it.

Once again, the Kali Institute and it's Adepts face evil. This time in the form of...well, that would be telling wouldn't it?

Another finely crafted story that once i started, I just couldn't stop reading. All the familiar faces are present, Kai, Logan, Connie, Des together with a few new faces including the adorable Tristy. they're facing a far more complex problem this time, one that is gong to tear them apart from within.

Another great read, the stakes are raised, the risks are higher and the villains even more vile. Loved the chilling cliffhanger and looking forward to the final installment.
