It was a veryintresting take on a "ghost story". Instead of humans telling you about scray ghost stories you have ghosts telling you about scary human stories. Humans can be just as cruel and mean as any ghost we have heard about and this novel is proff of that. Its rather heartbreaking and scary at the same time, it made me sit up all night just scrolling through the different stories.

The grim reaper, the maiden ghost in white, the creepy child ghost, the sexy succubus, the horned demon and the headless ghost have set their table up for a night of stories.

Stories of lust, greed, anxiety, betrayal, love and insecurity. But most importantly, they are cruel. The grim reaper begins with: What I'm about to tell you, is more terrifying than any ghosts. It is a tale of humans.

So each of our paranormal narrators pick a tale, each tale beautifully illustrated and at core of each story is human greed.

The Story of Woman, deals with an insecured woman who gets 'perfect life and happiness' in exchange for two tragedies. And how this deal manifests. It was predictable but it was satisfying end.

The Story of this Place, a new nun joins an orphanage that is being harassed by management, and has an alarming rate of child death. It was creepy and shows how love sickness can drive us to do crazy thing.

The Story of Photographer, a photographer is hired by an actress to capture pictures of her cheating professor husband his student. But the girl dies and the photographer misses the exact moment of her demise, but he has to find out if it is a murder or an accident. This story was my favourite, it was predictable but the twist was brutally placed and it had no poetic justice.

The Story of their Love, was about a local leader and his beautiful wife, set against a mass protest. It was scary story and sad one.

The Story of Son, was story of a son who escapes his poverty stricken life and is ashamed of his father and how his life has a Greek Tragedy fall.

The Story of her Truth, shows us what rumours and nasty behaviour of netizens can do. The side effects of celebrity obsession culture are more tragic than we think. This story made me feel sad the most.

I loved the art, it's inspired from Korean mythology, socioeconomic politics and culture. What I loved most was there is no poetic justice, just selfish humans whose justice awaits at hands of Grim Reaper

It's really pretty and mostly fine, not mind-changing but it balances well the horror and comedy.

“Often, it is said that ghosts are the scariest things in existence. We, however, do not believe that. Fighting, hurting, killing, killing again. The people who’ve given up on their humanity…could they honestly say that they are any better than ghosts?”

(Temporary?) DNF @ 53%

The concept here is really creative: Ghosts telling “scary human” stories! And I really like the art, with its bold, contrasting colors. I like the ghost characters, and the little side stories about the ghosts interacting and the spoof stories that remix some of the main stories are cute and funny. However, as I probably should have guessed…with the focus being “scary humans”, the main tales tend to be SUPER depressing, and I don’t really want to read any more of them right now.

The first few stories were relatively simple and effective as well as being creepy. For instance, in #1 a chronically unlucky woman goes to see a “Buddhist fairy”. He offers her two great happinesses for one unhappiness, or one happiness for two unhappinesses. She chooses the first, of course…but can she trust to the happiness she gains, when she knows something bad is waiting? That was was kinda problematic for the trope, but at least it IS true that good luck doesn’t matter if you aren’t in a mental space to be able to accept and appreciate your good fortune. Story #2 involves a charismatic priest running an orphanage for sick children, who holds the worrying belief that: “[People] only show mercy to those less fortunate. So we can’t be special. We have to be less fortunate. That’s the way to be loved.”

But then some of the later stories get confusing. For instance, story 4 starts off with people protesting some kind of development in their neighborhood that they think is unsafe. The leader of the protests, Sang Ming, has a hot wife who he is a bit jealous and inconsiderate of. One day he tells her off for “dressing like a whore” and she runs off. He feels bad and goes after her, but it turns out she’s been murdered. One thing I don’t get is that . The construction project is cancelled, which is what the protesters wanted. But then at the funeral people say . And the ones about the young idol who is effectively bullied to death, or the young man who discovers that hurting himself on camera gets more subscribers than his comedy routine are just SAD.

Trigger warning for suicide (in more than one story up to this point), child abuse, spousal abuse, cyber bullying, whatever you call unauthorized upskirt photos…

This was an amazing story and I hope the author writes more stories with these characters. I had so many emotions while reading this and so many of the stories left me feeling sad, depressed and angry. This story makes you question humanity and really believe that we are worse than all the ghost stories out there.

Overall 4/5 stars.

I read it once, whilst the Spanish version was being released episode per episode, and it’s truly amazing, each day I was waiting for a new chapter or the continuation from the previous one, and that’s to deep, that’s why I’m rating it with five stars, it’s truly amazing how this idea came up of nowhere, and nobody’s had thought about it before. Cause let’s be realistic, as my parents told me when I was a kid, “you should be more afraid of human beings instead of ghost, they cannot even touch you, humans do” and it’s so. All the stories accurate to our reality, the one that many live everyday. Not meant by the physical violence that we live out, but the one that’s the social pressure about how should you behave like, was it’s expecting you to be like or stuff like that, the one that you receive from the ones that you love the most, the one than is receive from people that is watching you, having an eye on you, or the one that destroys us the most, the one that tortures us the most, that actually is the one that we receive from ourselves, from our frustration, jealousy, from our own delirium. Such a great story, really thx for brought this to the apps wherever we read it.

This comic is in episodic storytelling format where the ghosts tell scary stories about humans. Because of the format, some stories are better than others. Overall though, most of the stories are pretty good. Each story tends to have a surprising twist. They are also pretty dark which is unsurprising since they are stories being told by dead people. I really liked the art style. The creator used a lot of colors, while keeping things dark. It makes many of the panels look pretty cool. Overall, I would give the series 4 stars. I would love to read more if they ever make more, but it's been a bit since the series ended so I doubt there will be more. I am glad that I took a chance on this series.

It was a really interesting concept with gorgeous art. The stories were dark without veering into grimdark or morbid for the sake of morbid. The only thing I wasn't keen on was the first story's inclusion of mental illness that mirrored a lot of demonisation I know in my personal life.

[original review for the webtoon]
3.5 stars

I could say it's a collections of short stories because there are 5 ghosts plus 1 grim ripper and they take turn to tell their stories. Not really horror in the traditional sense of scary story but more of dark tales that will make you question how low can human go in being evil. The only humor are the antics between the ghosts. The plot twist at the end tho..I thought it was kinda like that but when it was revealed in a joke kind of statement, I pretty much laughed out loud. Looking forward for the end of season 2 before I start to binge it!

Spooky! The art is to die for but the plot twists. THE PLOT TWISTS. I mean you will finally get used to it and may even successfully guess who the actual protagonist/antagonist of each story is (or who will have the last laugh, depending on the story). Some endings seem a bit rushed but the outros are generally really nice and there's always some humour slipped in to make the stories not as heavy. It wasn't the type of ghostly kind of scare; the art and the stories are not to the point of NO I'M NOT READING THE DAMN THING AT NIGHT (my subjective opinion, I'm pretty good with horror and urban legends stuff due to years of reading them alone in the darkness) which is everything I want in some great horror manhua to have a nice spooky time at night. Come for the art, stay for the plot ;)

The promised review has arrived. Very late. And very short.

I found the blend of sinister folk and urban legends reminiscent of the days when Creepypastas dominated the online writing community.

Each tale would have been a solid and well-known Creepypasta in the day, but what sets this collection apart and elevates it to a whole new level is the fact that it is a Webtoon. It's illustrated. We have visuals. And damn, were they good. The art style of this collection is so deceptively sweet to trick the reader into believing that the stories couldn't possibly be that scary.

They're haunting.

And as a horror/thriller/"all things dark and creepy" fanatic that cut my teeth on Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Anne Rice and the darkest recesses of Wattpad and AO3, I hereby deem this course delectable.
