I was sent this book as an advanced copy for reviewing purposes, but all opinions are my own.
3.5 stars
The conclusion to this series felt very different from the first three books and I can say I’m fairly satisfied with how everything turned out.
The thing I loved the most was the new Age of Magic and seeing how technology and magic and different creatures interacted in this new alternate reality that was created by the destruction of the Society of Wishes. Also the new world politics were interesting even though maybe it’s a little unrealistic that the whole world was divided in so few political areas but for simplicity purposes it was fine.
Contrary to the first three books, this was a lot about plotting and planning and I can’t help but feel like it could’ve been a little shorter. Not that it’s not short already, but it did drag a little for me in some parts, and I can’t help but feel like a lot of the book was “let’s do this thing to show off this world we created” when the Thing didn’t end up having much relevance at the end after all.
The rest made up for it though and I loved the whole part in the Elves’ kingdom, it was basically like reading a high fantasy novel instead of an urban fantasy and I loved the descriptions of the surroundings.
As for the actual conclusion I found it a little bit messy and although there was a lot of tension I never really felt like the stakes were too high. I never felt actually scared for any of the characters and I thought so much time in the novel was spent planning that I already knew exactly what would happen because not enough was left up to my imagination in those last moments, if that makes sense. Everything more or less turned out how everyone expected it to go.
Despite this, I’m still satisfied and finally I saw some other side plot lines have the page time they deserved. I’m particularly talking about a side M/M couple which I found was pretty obvious from book one but still it’s nice to see it actually on page. The main romance between Jo and Snow never actually made my heart beat so I wasn’t thrilled about it here either but it was okay. If you’re easily into soulmates/reincarnation romances you’ll probably enjoy the romance a lot.
The epilogue set the basis for a future spin-off series as was to be expected. I think if I had the next books on my hands right now I wouldn’t exactly skip meals to read them but I’d keep them for later when I’m in the mood for this genre again, which I’m sort of not right now.
I still enjoyed the overall experience of reading this Wish Quartet series and I would recommend it for fans of urban fantasy and/or Elise Kova, even though I still think she can and has done better than this.

This was a fitting ending to this series. When I think back to the other three books, we covered a lot of territory but it was all nice wrapped up in this last book.
In particular, I thought the scene in Pan's castle was brilliant! Talk about a crazed lunatic! LOL. But I digress.
No, the climax and resolution were very satisfying and the Epilogue from Takako's POV was a nice touch to leave open the "possibility/guarantee" of another series.

This series just got better and better with each and every book. The whole storyline was so unique and it just sticks with you. I think one of my favorite things that happened in this book was that the whole team seemed to be more involved and you got to really understand each and every one of their powers more uniquely and individually. The whole finale was just action-packed from beginning to end and you just aren’t exactly sure which way it is going to go. The ending just absolutely delivers and that final scene just leaves you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I’m not going to lie, a couple of scenes had me fighting back tears. It was just amazingly solid, incredibly epic, and a fantastic way to wrap up the series.
I am sad it is over but I definitely see the potential for more spin-offs in the future so I am going to be holding on to that hope.

The beginning of this book was so amazing and I got so excited to continue, however the ending was definetly lacking. It was wrapped up yes, but I just expected so much more. The struggle in this book and the build-up towards this book was so big, yet it was resolved so quickly. Another this is that I would have liked a way better epilogue, this one did not wrap it up nicely at all. It was an amusing book, but lacked a lot of feeling for me...

Age of magic begins like a tornado. Jo is awake and determined to take Pan down once and for all. But first there is the matter of the society getting back together. There is one, reluctant to aide Jo in saving Snow and taking down Pan.
Takako is pretty much the VIP of the final book this particular series. She is the champion among champion and shows Jo steadfast loyalty and friendship.
Reading the novella, Age of God's, helped a massively with understanding why Snow loves Jo so much...ish. Though I do still feel it's insta-love on his side.
I think thi/e climax was a bit rushed and dissapointing with how easy it was. Magic saves the day. The characters just happened to all be in the right place at the right time, Snow is able to perform miracles with his own magic.
And though it was my hoped endgame, Jo and Snow as they were at the end, was predictable. I would have liked to see more in the realm of being trapped in Pan's mansion. More complex issues with trying to destroy Pan.
I must say the middle of the book. Was my favorite. I loved learning about Luana and can only hope Lynn and Elise have a story there so we can firther explore the land of elves.
Overall a solid series I will definitely be picking up again. Yes, I felt the romance was a bit lackluster, but it was MORE than made up for in the strong bonds of friendships between the society members. TAKAKO I LOVE YOU.

This was a thrilling ending with a new world rising. How all the team tried to save Snow and that scene with Pan in the castle? The psychotic character was written brilliantly! Takako's POV was a surprise and I know that there will be a new series set in this world so I am very excited!

First of all, I’d like to thank Elise Kova and Lynn Larsh for creating a fantastical world filled with amazing characters. I’d also like to thank them for kindly providing me with an eARC after I missed out on the application. They really made me happy!
Note: this book is part of a series. So if you haven’t read the three books before, I suggest you catch up before reading this review. Warning: The next part will contain spoilers for the first three books.
The concluding book to the wish quartet series starts off right where Birth Of Chaos left off. After the destruction of the society, the society members are thrust back into the real world. However, there is one catch which is the world timelines have merged into a new age of magic that includes both magic and technological advancements from the previous world.
There were a few things that bothered me throughout the book which is why I gave it a 3.75 star review. First of all, I noticed a lot of parts that need to be edited. I hope these get fixed before the book comes out. I was also bothered by certain characters such as:
- Samson getting on my nerves at the beginning, and then it was Eslar who got on my nerves. - Jo acting rashly at the beginning of the book (but I could see some developments happening near the end). - A new romance being introduced in the final book, which was a bit distracting from the original plot line. However, I kind of suspect it being the main focus for the next series set in this world. - The fact that most of the book was spent planning, and the only real action we saw was at the final few chapters.
However, I did love many aspects about the book which was mainly the friendship aspects (especially between Jo, Wayne and Takako). I did love the epilogue especially! I will be disappointed if what was hinted at in the epilogue about Snow is not included in the next series. Also, the romance between Jo and Snow Just melts your heart. However, I do have to say that there are a few mature scenes so I recommend this book to those who are older than 18 as it’s a new adult series.
Also, if the spinoff series isn’t about my favorite character Wayne then I’ll be deeply disappointed. From my point of view, I think that the final book was really good. I kind of wish it had the same pace of action as the previous three books which usually kept me up all night trying to read them. All in all, I enjoyed reading this series, some characters will always be a favorite of mine.
One final thought: I do have to say that we can all agree that Pan is crazy (that dinner scene was twisted)!

I think that this book was by far my favorite out the series. It cause the word building that we get to see from this book is outstanding. I love going to high luna and the creepiness of Pan's castle. The other three books had to happen to set us up for this one so i am in way saying those don't matter. I just really enjoyed how it all shaped up in this story and that it really took on a life of its own and the change of how the worlds and characters developed from the first book. The story ends with a perfect ending and the possibility for my story to be told down the road. I thoroughly enjoyed this series.

Reading Age of Magic was like being reunited with your favorite group of friends at the end of summer.

A satisfying finale that is still open ended enough for futures stories set in that universe.

When watching a movie, while the plot & character development is of the vital importance, & the action can and often does keep one glued to his seat, it is the ending that one looks forward to the most. No matter how dier or bittersweet it might turn out to be. Simply for the reason that it's the end that provides answers to all the puzzles and conflicts that arose through the movie.
It's the same with a book. Finishing a story, especially one in a series, is often bittersweet, and it feels so...final. While the answers that you sought out were hopefully answered, and all the conflicts are resolved, and the tension is gone... that's it. Nothing more to see here. The show's over. The curtain is drawn & the cast has taken it's final bow. And you're left on a seat with all the mysteries solved and a hole in your soul that you can not explain. And you say to yourself: "wow. that was something special. I can't believe I let myself do that again."
Because every bookworm knows that the feeling of an empty soul at the end of the book is what they signed up for. But don't get me wrong, while the book might leave you emotionally drained, it also did its fair share of filling. A good book takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions, that makes you fall in love with pretty much everything in it. And finishing the said good book is what leaves you empty. That feeling of both sadness and happyness that a good book provides, or better yet, leaves you with is something every bookworm is familiar with. And the emptiness that is left behind is filled with another, hopefully, good book you decide to pick up next. It's also what leads to slumps, and book hangovers. When the book is so good the void that it leaves behind can't be filled easily. No matter what book you decide to pick up next, just doesn't stack up to what you just red.
And that's what Society of Wishes does to you. While it culminates with Age Of Magic, the whole series leaves you an emotional wreck. Where you just sit there and wonder how on earth are you supposed to pick yourself up after that!? How can anyone write something that good. I have had a privilege of following Elise's work from her Air Awakens days & while seemingly every book she writes gets better and better, writing with Lyn here unlocked something. It brought the series itself to another level. It was always my opinion that a good writer elevates their skill from work to work, but I have found that the best writers not just elevate their work but also find a way to reinvent it. To add different flavors to the mix. And Elise does that.
While I have written a jumble of a review, it was all to say; do yourself a favor and pick this book up. Pick any of the books up. And then pick up every book she wrote. Every one. Cause it's worth it. You will find yourself exploring strange new worlds, or maybe ones already familiar to you, but you will see them in a new light. Cause that's what she does. Gives you everything you expected and then some. Even throws a kitchen sink in for good measure. So pick it up and enjoy a ride of your life. Actually don't drive and read, just get yourself a cup of tea (it's a hug in a cup), a jump in a comfy chair and read.

This was simply the most disappointing series Elise Kova has ever written. I don't know what role Lynn Larsh had to play in writing this, but two heads were definitively NOT better than one.
In my personal opinion, Elise Kova is wayy better at writing about completely different fictional worlds which had nothing to do with our own (think Air Awaken or The Loom Saga, or even her newest sequel to Air Awaken - Vortex Chronicles). She was able to weave a magical feeling and a sense of mystery so wonderfully tight into the narrative and was able to surprise the readers with it, or at least I was surprised when the plot twists jumped in my unassuming face.
And this time? The so-called "mystery" was a laugh. There were things hinted at the end of one book then revealed at the end of the next book , but were very guessable. Seriously you don't even have to read that next book anymore. Does it falls into the category of "cliches", then?
At any rate, the only thing that kept me reading the entire series was the fact that I loved Air Awaken and The Loom Saga so much and wasn't going to give up faith in Elise Kova so fast. The End. However, apparently as a reward for this faith of mine, things did shift toward the better in Age of Magic. Begone with boring non-magical Earth, we have my beloved magical world again, with a very interesting mix of technology and magic - technology infused with magic! I just wish Jo had trashed their mansion one book earlier so we could have to see more action in this book. And because Snow was basically out of the picture for a good half of the book, I didn't have to put up with their banter and musing about their eternal love anymore. It had stopped being cool at the end of book 1, really.
Furthermore, I liked Pan. What a confusing character!
Soooo, thanks to the new world building and not-so-lovely Pan, this book got better! And I'd give one additional star for each into the total rating, which makes it a good 4-star book.

Age of Magic was a stunning conclusion to Elise Kova and Lynn Larsh's "Wish Quartet." Plunged into a new Age of Magic, Jo is desperate to find her Wish Society cohorts and take down Pan once and for all... and save the man she loves.
The most breathtaking aspect of this entire series is the world building. Not only is the Society a world in itself, but the different ages (God, Magic, Man) were thoroughly explored. It is incredibly impressive that Kova and Larsh can do justice to so many new times and worlds. The reader learns about this new Age of Magic along with Jo. You're left believing in the potential of this beautiful new world. I can't wait to see what Kova and Larsh decide to explore next!
Like with everything by Kova, the enseble cast of very different but very wonderful characters was ever present. Each society member had a unique purpose and molded perfectly (although I do wish Wayne was a little less whiny). Jo remained her fierce, stubborn, and sarcastic self, but learned a little self control along the way (just a little though, she's still beautifully headstrong). Reading the novella Prince of Gods provided a whole new dimension to Snow's character that I appreciated, I would highly recommend doing so before concluding the Wish Quartet.
The conclusion left a sprawling expanse of future opportunities and stories with this unique cast of characters and new world. The Wish Quartet was one of the most original series I've read. If you are into intriguing magical worlds, a diverse cast of characters, and tense story lines, I think you'd enjoy this one!

The most breathtaking aspect of this entire series is the world building. Not only is the Society a world in itself, but the different ages (God, Magic, Man) were thoroughly explored. It is incredibly impressive that Kova and Larsh can do justice to so many new times and worlds. The reader learns about this new Age of Magic along with Jo. You're left believing in the potential of this beautiful new world. I can't wait to see what Kova and Larsh decide to explore next!
Like with everything by Kova, the enseble cast of very different but very wonderful characters was ever present. Each society member had a unique purpose and molded perfectly (although I do wish Wayne was a little less whiny). Jo remained her fierce, stubborn, and sarcastic self, but learned a little self control along the way (just a little though, she's still beautifully headstrong). So Age of Magic to me was an okay finale to a series but one that felt so rushed. That is the best way to describe this whole series to me is rushed.
Age of Magic definitely took on a more fantasy element then the first three books and I enjoyed the setting much more. However we didn't get enough time with this new world. Which wasn't necessarily new to the characters, but it was for the readers. So I just wanted to feel immersed and I felt like I was a patron being rushed out only after just arriving. This world seems like it has so much to offer and what we did get, though very little, was intriguing. A small part of me hopes we get more from this world because I see so much promise.
The plot picks up right where we left off and it is a plot that ultimately goes nowhere. They made the big bad seem to be this uncontrollable force who eventually goes down quite easily. So that was a little upsetting. What I did enjoy about the plot though was some of the character moments we got with the side characters, not even the main character because it was clear as day how their story was going to end up. But the side characters, mainly Takako, Samson, and Eslar made my heart soar.
The Wish Quartet series started out with a promising vision that only suffered from story that felt rushed. Though I did enjoy myself, truly, I just wanted time to breathe in the world and story a little more.

After the climatic ending of Birth of Chaos, Jo wakes up in a new world and a new age, an Age of Magic where magical people and creatures thrive in technological advancement. Jo’s first instinct is to find her team from the Society of Wishes. After she quickly gathers her team, her next step is to convince everyone to confront and takedown Pan. Once everyone is on board and they begin to come up with a plan, Jo finds that Pan is determined to thwart any and all of their efforts. When the whole team faces an ultimatum by Pan that threatens more than just their team, Jo realizes she has no other choice but to give in to Pan’s one demand: join with Pan.
I loved this new world and age of magic that Kova and Larsh seamlessly wove together. As I’ve said in reviews of their previous installments, the authors do such an outstanding job of blending urban fantasy and mythology. The story was well-paced, full of action and suspense; I could not put it down. Although I dreaded the coming ending, I couldn’t have imagined a better conclusion for this series. It only left me wanting more of this new world, the characters, and most especially the relationship between Jo and Snow. I absolutely hope that this isn’t the conclusion of these characters and their new age of magic.

Great ending to the series. And a fantastic beginning to a whole new world filled with innumerous possibilities.
This series and I have not gotten on as well as I had hoped. I have not disliked any of them, but neither have I loved any of them. The main problem with this series was my personal feeling towards dystopia and urban fantasy. In general, I am not a huge fan of those, preferring fantasy instead. Despite the fantastic writing and excellent premise, I had a difficult time getting onto the series. This book had a more traditional fantasy feel, and I got into it so much easier. Hooked from the first chapter.
I don't know if it was me finally clicking with this book or something else, but the characters all felt more rounded. In the previous books, only Nico and Wayne felt like real feeling people. This book I felt for all the characters. I loved the world and idea of it being the same continents but everything being so different.
Every important detail could be traced back to some event in a previous book, and it all made so much sense. Nothing seems far-fetched or out of place — the fantastical and mundane mixed well. It all felt so natural.
There were so many aspects of this world that I just wanted to know more about. Each kingdom has a history that I want to know. I would love to see more stories in this world.

And this circle is now closed! After the dramatic turn of events in the previous book, I was wondering how everything would wrap up in the final installment. Needless to say, it was intense! But honestly, what can you expect when certain characters are literally Creation, Destruction, and Chaos?
The story moved at a good place, though there were certain places I wished we'd spent more time in. Samson and Eslar got their time in the spotlight, and I couldn't have been more happy to read about Samson and his growth. I'm gonna miss that little crafter!
Additionally, Jo and Snow each got their moments, which were filled with passion and overall moved pretty quick. That's one thing I found about this story: The beginning moved a little slower, but the ending really picked up and went crazy with a final battle. Not really a complaint, though I did have a couple "whoa" moments during the climax.
All in all, I enjoyed this series and all its world-destroying madness. I read loooooots of urban fantasy so it was nice to pick up a series that had similar roots, but was vastly different and quite creative. I definitely think UF fans looking for something new ought to give this one a try!

I’ve basically been devouring the Wish Quartet one book at a time, so when the opportunity to read Age of Magic early presented itself, I jumped at it! The author sent me a digital galley of the novel in exchange for this honest review. I don’t remember any specific TW/CWs so let’s dive right on in!
I really liked getting back to the characters, especially Jo. I feel like her character has grown so much since the beginning of the series. She is still, however, white-coded though there were several points at which the authors made it a point to vocalize her Mexican heritage. I just don’t feel like it showed in any way other than talking about her abuelita or random Mexican foods she misses. I do really like the arc of Takako and Sam’s characters took, though I feel like Wayne’s character went a bit flat.
The world of Age of Magic is so different from the world the other three novels were set in. It’s literally been completely rebuilt from the ground up and if it wasn’t for the storyline and character development aspects, this one could function as a standalone. The world building isn’t perfect, but it is immersive and the descriptions are enough that I could understand the basic rules and functionality of things while reading. The main thing I really look for is the immersive quality and that yes, this makes sense to me feeling, which Elise Kova and Lynn Larsh managed to capture.
Even while writing this, I’m not sure how I feel about the way the story ended? I do like the speed the story flowed at for most of it, though there were a couple parts that felt a bit clunky and unnecessary to me. They might have added to the character development aspect? But I just wasn’t feeling all of it. The base plot was interesting and I like the pace we took along that general path. I would have liked for there to have been a few more of the plot twists we saw in previous novels of the series because tbh the one “plot twist” I fully recall isn’t…really a plot twist. However, I did enjoy reading the story.
This is most definitely the finale I needed for this series, even if it didn’t go quite how I was hoping it would. I enjoyed the series and I feel like this final novel in it does the rest of the story justice. I definitely look forward to reading the associated novella and then I’ll probably make myself find the time to finally pick up the Air Awakens series because of course I haven’t read it yet.

There were some really cool parts to this book. Some new ways to look at the plot I hadn’t anticipated. There were also a few awkwardly placed love scenes. I love fantasy with some romance, but in this installment at least one scene felt forced and, therefore, awkward. Additionally, calling Destruction and Creation by their names also felt weird. I did like that the ending was as expected but didn’t feel like it had to break any rules to make it happen. There were enough breadcrumbs to make everything feel kosher in the world in which they lived. Overall, the series is ok. Not my favorite, but I still glad I read it.

Age of Magic is packed with page-turning epicness! The conclusion of Wish Quartet was one of my most anticipated reads for the year. What an adventure! I was super excited after having a glimpse of The Age of Magic world in Birth of Chaos so I dived headfirst into this spectacular creation the first chance I got. I don’t even really know where to begin without spoiling this incredible book. Just know that everything ties off perfectly and there are subtle hints for another series *throws confetti*

Wow, Jo as a demigod was amazing. The team got back together, some more reluctant than others. I was bummed there wasn't more Snow in this one, but I'm glad that the story remained what it has been about from the beginning. The ending was bittersweet and I'll miss reading about my favorite team.

A great conclusion!
I really enjoyed the conclusion of this series. Kept me on my toes most of the time and no lull like I experienced in #3. A magical ride for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if something new pops up in this world in the future.

This was a satisfying end, overall, just an okay serious - I think there was not enough action or dialogue, it was too much in the main characters head for me to really enjoy.

I really loved the atmosphere of this book in particular! I want more of this world as it is in the end of this novel. the epilogue gives room for that to happen I feel :)

I.. have conflicted feelings about the ending? It wasn't as satisfying as I'd been hoping for but *shrug* an enjoyable series all the same.
