In a desperate fight, we captured one of the machine empire’s factory planets. Can we now defeat an interstellar superpower that has exterminated thousands of sentient races across the galaxy and slaughtered billions of us in the Solar System?
Not bloody likely, but Captain Jon Hawkins is on a mission. Using new warships from the factory planet, he’s searching for alien allies, more battle stations to storm and death machines to kill. He’s buying us time to turn the Solar System into a fortress…if he can stay alive long enough.
I was born in Canada and remember as a small boy crawling in my snow-fort. I closed my eyes, and when I tried to open them, they were frozen shut. I didn't panic, but wiped away the ice crystals, unglued my eyes and kept on building my tunnel. Those were great days! I moved to Central California before seventh grade and couldn't believe I lived in a land where oranges grew on trees and you could pick grapes from the vine.
I used to wonder what I wanted to do with my life, what kind of work specifically. I was miserable not knowing and bordering on desperate. Then one day a friend gave me his typewriter. I began working on a novel. A different person told me it was much easier on a computer, so I bought one and began getting up at 4:30 A.M. each morning before work, writing for three hours. My eyes were unglued once again as the pang of misery left my gut. I knew exactly what I wanted to do: write. So now that's what I do, I write, and write, and write, and I love it.
Another great space epic from Heppner. This time we fight against the AI ships and deal with traitors with scionic powers and unknown goals. We find an ally and win an epic space battles however our main enemy escapes to fight another day.
Fast paced action. Cpt. Hawkins and crew have finally found an alien civilization to ally with. Together they defeat the AI fleet, however, the main AI escapes. Now with their new friends, they discover who the mysterious aliens that travel thru the Void" space. Hawkins finally marries the Mentalist, but with the ever present danger of the AIs, how long will the honeymoon last? Can hardly wait for the next installment.
Really a wonderful book believable characters realistic science small suspendable disbelief and a great story. Totally non-pc which is the best part of this book there's no political political philosophy behind any other writing that I can see fabulous stories that just evolved makes your head spin what the possibilities Mr Heppner lplease keep going. Best science fiction series I've read in 4 years of reading science fiction
I love binge reading and this series made that possible. I wonder if the author continues the series what will the timeline look like? Will we see Bast and John or will we see 1000 years from now as the void ship returns. Who knows, but what I do know is that I truly enjoyed the series and was happy it had an end.
I have read many sci-fi books and Vaughn Heppner is one of my favorites. The A.I. series is one of his best, from the outset it as thrilling and hard to put down, a real page turner if you will. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
This is a great series. First couple of books were truly amazing. I think it now needs to introduce more technology and aliens. Waiting for continuation with great interest.
Awesome read. The development of the characters and theme is great. Fascinating and enjoyable. Some concepts repeated but then that is the nature of war, especially when fighting an AI. Looking forward to the next instalment.
However the characters don't have a lot of depth and their dialogue often isn't interesting but weird present a dismal future of AS!I actually come to consciousness
The series is excellent. I need more! I want to know what happens next. Does Bast get to find more of his people. Do the fish people continue to control human government? I need closure!
The book moved the story along well enough and I enjoyed the read yet the first half of the book and the second half seemed a little disconnected. I had expected them to get back to Sol but we are not quite there yet.
Wonderful twists and turns. Can't wait for the next book.
As with the previous books, this has been a great roller coaster of a read. Many twists and turns in the plot and I can only guess what the next book will hold. I.e.
Excellent, books in the Series getting better. Interesting theories and new issues arising in this book. The Humans meet new and different people, says of making sense of life But willing to join and fight. Can't stop....want to start on the next book! Keith
I enjoyed the entire series and look forward to any additional books with the A. I. series! Each of this author's different series has been well worth reading.
