Never Again:
A standalone spin-off of the Paranormal Detectives Series, we discover the true horrors during Hitler's reign.
In World War Two, not all monsters were human.
Male siren Sean Wireman was ostracized from his small village in Israel in the sixteenth century, forced to wander the world until he settled in America in the 1920's. Since he doesn't age like a normal person, he was fit to fight in World War Two, to defend the heritage he spent his whole life running from.
Seventy years later, after he has lived a whole other life since Hitler was defeated, from attending law school to becoming a bona fide rock star, the monsters the Nazis released upon the Jews in concentration camps have returned, and he is the only one who can destroy them.
But can he save his people once again, or will this fight take a deadly toll?

I received an advanced copy of this book so I will not post spoilers. Although this story is fiction in the paranormal genre, many parts of this book hit upon some of the war crimes committed in that time period. Based on the hate that was involved between the Nazis and the Jews, this story brought out some of those terrible reminders of the hideous crimes and tortures that were inflicted during the war. This story had me emotional throughout it. I can honestly say that this is now one of my all time favorites from this author. She has become such a seasoned writer. If you are a true lover of the Paranormal Detective Series, then you will also love the new direction she is taking it. Can't wait to see what is next in the PDS world.

Poor Sean cannot catch a break. After fighting his way through Germany and a few crazy nazis, he thinks he has finally caught a break. He is a Siren, he uses his voice to become famous. But when things turn bad again for him, he knows that there’s only one thing he can do. And that’s go back to a place he hides deep down. Back to Germany and a castle where his nightmares turn into reality

No great hero ever worked alone.
~Devon, Never Again
In grade school, I became obsessed with reading about World War II, especially the Holocaust. I would take book upon book out of the library every week and pour over the narratives written by those who made it out of concentration camps. Survivor stories had a way of breaking my heart but also inspiring me. The endurance they showed, the Hell they trekked through, and the fact that they had the strength to share their accounts opened my eyes to a whole new world and influenced me in the way that I looked at the world. However, I hadn't thought about those narratives for years now, until this book. Luchesi reminded me of the heartache so many people suffered and approached the subject with honesty and true horror, refusing to sugarcoat or lessen the blow of the wrenching tragedies that innocents upon innocents faced in concentration camps due to racism and bigoted anger. I would not have asked for anything less than the truth. Luchesi approached the war and its consequences with honesty and also sincerity. The compassion she had for the subject was more than palpable, surely leaving future readers with a sense of earnestness and empathy for those they never even knew. The additional paranormal horror elements only added to the shock factor of the true historical time period of WWII. I loved the demonic elements she added, creating an even more sinister history that I couldn't stop devouring.
I can only begin to imagine the amount of research Luchesi put into this book, and her hard work shone through. The truthful elements woven into the fantastical produced an unstoppable read that will surely please current fans and those looking for a historical ride filled with both legitimacy and the dark paranormal. The rich historical elements were expertly dropped in context instead of sounding like a lesson, serving to add a realistic twist to Sean's life and anchoring the reader to his story.
I loved getting to know more about Sean the siren introduced in previous Paranormal Detective books. I've rarely read or encountered stories about alluring sirens who were male; strangely, they've only been female! I love the thought of an irresistible siren who can sway minds with his voice alone. One element that surprised me, but I loved nonetheless, was that I didn't expect to travel with Sean through so many different time periods and to so many locations! I assumed that I would only be getting a perspective from WWII and present day, but little did I know Luchesi had so much more in store! She created a heartfelt story across time through one man alone beginning in the 1000s and running through to the 2000s. Sean's flaws and troubles made him an irresistible character despite the fact that he said time and time again that he could be slightly unlikable. I think it was his invisible scars that got to me and made him human even though he wasn't. Of course, one would imagine that a person wouldn't be able to live through so much without being left with trauma, and the war and entrapment in a concentration camp left its mark on Sean. I believe Luchesi handled his PTSD honestly, demonstrating the toll it can take on a person mentally, physically, and emotionally, serving to make Sean even more of a realistic character. I've never encountered a person with PTSD and cannot speak about the representation personally, but I felt a reliable pull to his pain and any reader's heart will surely ache for him.
In all honesty, I love spin-offs! I know that so many readers have issues with them and think that an author should end a series and put a world to rest, enough is enough. I, on the other hand, find spin-offs to be a guilty pleasure of mine. Who doesn't love seeing an author explore their world further, peeling back layers you could never imagine were even there in the first place? Luchesi explored so much more, and I can only imagine what else she could produce with this world. On a similar note, while this book certainly stands on its own, a loyal reader of this series will squeal when they see familiar faces intertwined in Sean's narrative. Without spoiling, a person will surely meet familiar faces, witches, vampires, and humans alike because not only did we get to see a bit of Sean's backstory but also a little bit of backstory tidbits of other characters thanks to him. I was so darn ecstatic when I encountered familiar faces to gush over. Luchesi certainly played her cards well when connecting Sean's dots with other creatures! Sneaky, sneaky!
Lastly, it wouldn't be a Lily Luchesi book without an appreciation for music! Not only is there a playlist provided in Never Again, but Sean also demonstrates a huge fondness for music himself. I personally connected with this side of him as I have the tendency to naturally designate a song to be the anthem for my life at the moment or associate songs with book/anime/television characters (like whenever I hear Monster by Imagine Dragons I immediately think of Kyo from Fruits Basket, and whenever I hear In the Name of Love, I think about Yuri and Victor from Yuri on Ice). I strongly relate to Sean's passion for music and is just another reason that I fell in love him.
Please note that I received a free ebook of NEVER AGAIN by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I've been a big fan of this series since the beginning. I fell in and out of love with all the characters multiply times. I found out that there was going to be a standalone book about one of the characters that I wanted to know more about. I was literally shaking with excitement. It was so good that I was trying not to devour it all in one sitting. I mean I treated it like Charlie treats his birthday candy bar just a little bit every day. It was hard to do that because it was so good. The author's writing continues to grow and get stronger and stronger with each book. It is impressive and admirable. Now I bet you are wondering why I loved this book so much.
The idea of a male siren is unique to me. I've never read much about sirens so getting the point of view of a male one was fascinating. His life story is what made the book freaking amazing. His struggles when he was just a child and getting his powers to World War II to modern day, were traumatizing and raw. I felt like I went through his hurdles and my heart is sore and torn. Sean Wireman is a flawed and reluctant hero. He is not perfect nor does he strive or claim to be. I like that. I like a character that is thrown in to the fight because of a passion or need to do the right thing.
The second reason why I loved the book so much was the gore. It was spot on. It wasn't too much but it was there in all of it's glory. There was a scene at the Houska castle that gave me interesting dreams due to the gore. It was lovely if you like gore which I do.
The third reason why I loved the book was the attention detail in research. You could tell that there was a ton of research done to make this book. The history seemed to be pretty accurate and even more intense than I could imagine the different time periods.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this book so much that I'm recommending to family and friends. I will be interested in what is next in this series.

Lily Luchesi continues to impress me with her books...
The multi-dimensional characters, the descriptive writing and the attention to detail all add up to a phenomenal read.
In this Paranormal Detectives Series spin-off we follow the life of male siren, Sean Wireman, from his early years as he's forced to wander the world alone, through the nightmare fights and prison camps of a world war, to the modern day and his return to the battlefields.
Sean is a flawed character who struggles to understand his own nature in the beginning, but grows throughout the book and accepts his 'fate' to save his people.
Based on real events that happened in the concentration camps of WW2, this book takes you on an action-packed, roller coaster ride of emotions.
I've been a huge fan of this series since the reading book one, Stake-Out, and Lily has become one of my favourite authors. Never Again is one of the best books I've read this year.
If you love Lily's Paranormal Detective Series, you'll also love this book. I can't wait to read more!
Never Again is a Paranormal Detectives Series spin-off, which is also a superb stand-alone book. If you haven't read any of Lily's books and enjoy a great paranormal novel, then this book is a good place to start.

Never Again is an absolute MUST READ! I am never disappointed when reading any of Lily's books. So, it didn't come as any surprise when I was completely immersed in Never Again right from the start. Never Again is a spin-off of the Paranormal Detectives series, but can easily be read as a standalone. For me, this book was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster with twists and turns that I didn't always see coming. As always the characters are easy to connect with and fall in love with as well. I am excited about the new direction Lily is taking the Paranormal Detectives series and am looking forward to what she has in store for us next. I highly recommend purchasing and reading Never Again.

Lily Luchesi's "Never Again" is a spin-off of the Paranormal Detectives series, but you can read it as a standalone. Ever since Sean was a character in the PD series, I have wanted to know his story. Such an interesting character and mythology of sirens. I like the historical connections a lot. I think we all need a few more siren rock stars in our lives! As always, Lily Luchesi weaves an amazing web - a detailed and wondrous storyline.

I finished reading Never Again and pondered the book producing powerhouse that is Lily Luchesi. I think Never Again is my favourite book of hers to date and i’ve read quite a few since coming across her looking for reviewers for Stake-Out (PDS#1) in a goodreads request group. It feels like forever but when I looked it up it was actually early 2015. Damn Girl, you have bled out a phenomenal amount of words in the last three years. I’ve enjoyed Lily’s writing from the beginning, but it feels as if she’s found her rhythm, her knack and she’s grown confident and is owning her style now.
Lily has really outdone herself this time with Never Again. The writing is strong and confident, the story compelling, a blend of paranormal and real world historical events.
There is swearing. There are some extremely deplorable and violent bad guys (obviously as a large chunk of the book features war). As well as post-traumatic stress disorder being explored in detail. But there is also love and hope to balance out the hate and despair.
The story’s sole protagonist is Sean, a 526-year-old male siren who originated in Israel. Thanks to his slowed siren aging process for the most part of the story he only looks like he’s aged between 20 to 40.
526 years – does he have a story to tell? You bet he does. His life story. 526 years, experiencing ancient Israel, the Ottoman Empire, the Tudors, the Nazis and modern rock and roll. Sean is, despite his species and the fact he regularly refers to himself as an asshole, a good guy and a war hero.
So yes this is a Paranormal Detectives Series Spin-off and if you’ve read any of the PSD books you’ll recognise a fair few characters and locations. But if you haven’t that’s okay, this this is a stand alone and a great way to get a feel for Lily’s writing style.

Never Again: A World War Two Paranormal Detectives Spin-off Kindle Edition
by Lily Luchesi(Author) Format: Kindle Edition
I very seldom encounter a book that keeps me up and turning pages but this was one of those. It's a spin-off of a character Sean Wireman who is a paranormal living in a mortal world and learning to adapt. He's a siren, male, though most are female. He had that compelling voice and a need to sexually feed on prey. The story tells of his early life when he makes that tragic discovery. He's no killer. It starts in his Jewish village in medieval times where he is feared and begins a life on the run, eventually learning self- control.
His wandering takes him to Nazi Germany where he is captured and sent to a concentration camp. Scientists want to experiment on him. He meets others who are different types of paranormals but the crux of the story is about demons a witch released that are "soul suckers" The pit where they emerge is in a German castle. There are battles but when the war is over, they have not been contained. "Evil never dies" is the final theme as Sean engages in a modern day conflict.
In "Never again" We see the result of hatred and cruelty and that if not completely dealt with it can return.
Ms. Luchesi did intense research into life in concentration camps and the nature of evil. Sean is a definite new hero of mine. I want to read the original Sean story now.
‘Never Again’ is a paranormal exposition of the consequences of human hatred and cruelty.

I have been a fan of Lily Luchesi's work ever since she extended the offer to read Book 1 of her Paranormal Detectives Series, Stake Out. And also as a history buff (and a geek who knows and researches all random kinds of historical facts, especially regarding the Second World War), I was mightily interested in Never Again. Luchesi has an almost sixth sense concerning how to rope in her readers, keep them engaged, and throw careful curveballs and incidents to keep us guessing. So I went into this book with high hopes.
My hopes were not misplaced.
I loved the multi-dimensional characters. The wonderful dynamic of fictitious happenings against the backdrop of accurate historical events. The occurrences that made you pause in your reading and think about your own feelings and viewpoints on the incidences in the book. Needless to say, I was engaged the entire time.
Luchesi's writing reminds of another writer whose work I admire--Ian Fleming. Her ability to pack so much rich information and action-packed sequences into her pages is reminiscent of his prowess while scribing his lore. Her work puts me in mind of true magic, the kind that makes you willingly and happily suspend your disbelief, buoy your imagination, and delve headfirst into her awesome worlds. Each new book of Luchesi's books goes on my list of favorite books. I loved them all. I will definitely continue to read her books from here on out.
Five stars all across the board.

Book Review by Stephanie FOR Never Again (A Paranormal Detectives Spin-Off Novel) by Lily Luchesi
Never Again is an incredible paranormal novel that can be read as a standalone or with the series, as some of the same characters play a part. This is Sean Wireman’s story about a male siren fighting in WWII.
This author is one of my favorites and she has completely outdone herself with this book. She takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride, basing the story on some very real events that happened in the concentration camps. The power of her imagination will send chills up your spine and I believe her writing style far surpasses Dean Koontz. The amount of research done was obviously tremendous just from the detail given. It felt like I was truly there! I hope the story continues, the Paranormal Detective Series should have its own t.v. show!
This is not my first novel by Lily Luchesi and it won't be the last. I absolutely recommend one-clicking this novel.

In Never Again we will follow Male siren Sean Wireman story and what a story it is. Once again Ms. Luchesi weaves a paranormal tale that will wanting more. This was a wild, emotional and very tough ride throughout Sean's life. When he is thrown out of his small town he is left on his own wondering who and what he is. He lives a tough life as he struggles to life, fight and do what is right to himself and his heritage.
What I loved most about this book was the emotional and horrific ride that you take through the Hitler and World War II era. The story was written so realistic that you felt like you were there in the horrific conditions of the Nazi camps. Ms. Luchesi wrote a powerful read. If you want a great paranormal read that will have you biting your nails, holding your breath, pumping your fist and so much more than I recommend this book.
This can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend the entire Paranormal Detective Series.

Great story following Sean's life through the ages. I loved the historical details and the way aspects of the story was reflected back through the eyes of someone who has seen lifetimes of pain and suffering yet still has the courage to keep fighting. Sean was a complex character, grappling through the internal fight between good and evil as he fights real life monsters. I enjoyed the fight scenes and I don't really have a limit when it comes to horrific details so it was a perfect read for me. Great stuff!!

A book for our time.
Concerned about prejudice? Think our world view is a little skewed? This book reminds us that unfortunately prejudices still abound in today's society. In the White House, across borders, across continents...hate in any form is destructive. In a paranormal story with interesting characters, this is a great read. I couldn't put it down. A new way to look at an old problem.

In kindle speak, an nonstop screen swiper.
I'm not normally a fan of graphic violence and horror, but there are exceptions to every rule and this author's work is one of my exceptions.
The attention to detail and historical research shows how devoted to perfection L.L. is in her writing and makes this offering a must for every reader of this genre. Don't miss the chance to add this book to your TBR list.

Good story
While this enhances the overall PIB series it is easily read as a stand-alone. I like that, it would also be an easy entry into the series. It’s very well written and although not my usual type of read, the quality of the story was too good to put down. The story has a strong, yet flawed, character dealing with his inner demons as well as real demons. The author treads through PTSD in a real, no holds barred, fashion.

I loved reading the story of Sean's life
It spans a great number of years and the hell he went through. It also tells of his last great battle and leads one to think there may yet be another story to come.
Lots of detail, character information and some wonderful story telling.
Lily has created a wonderful series and Never Again is a great addition to it.

This is an introduction to a gritty urban fantasy character who is definitely an anti-hero type. The world-building was awesome, and fans of horror and darker urban fantasy reads will love this.

Loved it!
When I finished paranormal detectives series I thought well that's the end of those characters. Then I stumbled across never again, Sean's story. Some of the imagery was harsh and violent to think about but that was part of sean wireman. I'm hoping Lily luchesi might consider writing more about sean and Angelica's time together or maybe a novel with Brighton and mark. Heck I love this series so much I'll read everything she puts out!
