Après ses débuts dans la publicité et l’architecture, ce Marseillais s’est lancé dans la bande dessinée en 1974 en dessinant pour Spirou à Bruxelles où il habite désormais.
Remercié par le journal pour dessins irrévérencieux, il avait noué des liens forts de franche camaraderie avec Conrad avec qui il a notamment réalisé les Innommables en 1980 et lancé la Tigresse blanche en 2005.
Ses premiers scénarios l’avaient conduit dans l’univers de Franquin avec le Marsupilami en 1989 et de Goscinny avec Lucky Luke sans oublier son one-shot sur une aventure de de Spirou. Il écrit depuis pour de nombreux dessinateurs comme Berthet (Pin Up, Yoni, les exploits de Poison Ivy), Simon Léturgie (Spoon White), Félix Meynet (les Eternels) avec ou encore Herval (Tiffany), René Hausman (Les Trois cheveux blancs, Le Prince des écureuils), Yslaire (Sambre), Joël Parnotte (Le Sang des Porphyre)...

American Max Kurtzman goes behind enemy lines in World War II Poland to pose as a Nazi officer in order to assassinate a prominent German aviator. In addition to combat action, there is time for much kissing in this historical fiction. Lots of real figures from the war are featured as are some real experimental German aircraft, some of which are presented a little further along in their development than they were in the real war.
It's been a couple of years since I read the first book, but I slipped back into the story easily and was looking forward to getting the rest of the series on Hoopla this month, but it seems to have been withdrawn from the service in the three weeks since I checked out this volume. Darn it! Maybe I'll get to vol. 3 in another couple years . . .

Grâce à la résistance polonaise, Max va réussir à se faire passer pour un soldat allemand, seul rescapé d’une attaque de celle-ci. Le but de sa mission le ramène à son enfance en Silésie où il a fait un pacte donnant naissance à son premier baiser de Hanna.
Devenu son copilote, Max prend le risque de se faire reconnaître par celle qui était son amie avant de devenir l’archétype de l’ange de la mort en sombrant comme tant d’autres dans la folie du nazisme et de sa propagande.
Par temps de guerre, il y a des choix qui sont difficiles comme celui de tuer son amie d’enfance pour ne pas qu’elle puisse tester une arme qui détruira l’Amérique.
Ce second tome du premier cycle de la « Dent d’ours » nous en apprends plus sur le ressenti d’Hanna face à l’inévitable défaite de l’Allemagne. Malgré ça, Hanna, en tant que femme peut réaliser son rêve de voler et pour ça elle s’est endurcie, refusant tout sentimentalisme, elle est devenue dure, froid, franche et prête à tout pour arriver à ses fins. Malgré quelques parties consacrées à Hanna, la majorité de l’album est centré sur Max et sa mission, en continuité avec le tome précédent.
La résistance polonaise est mise en lumière, des hommes et des femmes qui n’ont plus rien à perdre pour ternir l’image d’une Allemagne conquérante !
Une Allemagne qui ne va pas si bien que ce que la propagande montre au monde entier. Hanna le voit bien quand Hitler envoie des enfants se sacrifier dans les airs où quand ils n’ont pas suffisamment d’avions fiables.
La réalité d’une guerre perdue commence à faire son chemin dans les hautes sphères et dans l’aviation allemande. Leur seul espoir, le Projeckt A, l’arme ultime capable d’anéantir l’Amérique.
Mention spéciale à Yann pour avoir dévoilé (du moins à la plupart d’entre nous), le rôle réel d’Hanna Reitsch, personnalité connue en Allemagne et dans son histoire.

Born in Polish Silesia where the locals spoke both Polish and German, Max is the perfect undercover operative and the Americans plan to use him. Parachuting in behind enemy lines he is met by a resistance force but not before the allies take heavy losses. Both sides are struggling with the heavy burden that war brings, and every further loss threatens to tip the scales for the worst. Max is now a step closer in his mission to take out the German’s top aviator, his childhood friend Hanna, but in doing so he has to get uncomfortably close – so close that he risks detection.
Although the book makes plain that it is a work of pure fiction, and we’re all so familiar with WWII tales, Yann and Henriet manage to concoct a tale from a different angle, where the main dynamic is not axis versus allies but three friends split by the monstrous war.The creators’ knowledge and interest in the period’s flying machines add an extra dimension, particularly when we get to see the likes of the Triebflügel in action. I’m sure there must be a war movie out there that’s featured them, but I’ve not seen it if there is, so glad to see them shown here.
It will be interesting to see how Werner now fits within the final book following the events in this one. Looking forward to finding out.

Sé que este es el tomo n°2, pero no pude encontrar el tomo n°1 🙃. Así que igual me interiorice antes para leerlo.
Las ilustraciones son muy buenas y detalladas. Respecto a la historia del comic yo quede muy enganchada con la vida de Hanna, Max y Werner.
Efectivamente se trata de pilotos de aviones de la segunda guerra mundial. Se contrasta con la vida de estos tres de cuando eran pequeños y eran inseparables a cuando ya son adultos por distintos motivos ya sean nacionalidades y religiones lo hacen ser del bando contrario.

Genç, atak ve acımasız kadın pilot Hanna Reitsch'in hikayemizdeki rolüne odaklanan bölümde Max, Polonya'daki direnişçilerin yardımı ile Nazi Hava Kuvvetlerin'e sızmayı başarıyor. Beklenebileceği gibi kimliği kitabın sonunda açığa çıkacak.

In this second volume, Max is taken in for questioning, and is scheduled for execution!
...that is unless he agrees to undertake a very dangerous mission. So in the last volume, we saw how the three friends established a bond before life got in the way. In this volume, we fast forward to see Max is a semi well known pilot for the Allies. It seems he was able to escape Poland and made his way to the states to become the pilot he always wanted to be.
However, when a US military officer finds an old magazine cover with Max's picture - a magazine for airplanes - running a piece of a youth rocket contest, of which Max was the winner of - the discovery complicates things. The officer saw that the young boy on the cover was missing the same two fingers that Max is, the result of an accident with one of those rockets. This sets off red flags as its suspected that he is an undercover Nazi spy. He is then given a choice, execution or the mission: Kill Hanna Reitsch! Which he hesitantly accepts...
This really kicks off the drama of the book, and now with the setup of volumes 1 and 2, we go onto the next phase of the story!
