Another sweet omegaverse romance

There were a few typos, misplaced grammar and the wrong word used - grown instead of groan - in this one but it was still a nice, light read with a sweet romance.

Stephen was a fairly enlightened alpha and once Jake's secret was revealed, everything just got really sweet and less angsty.

3.5 rounded up. I'm deeply into the rabbit hole that is this series, OMG.

The editing isn't perfect. There are spelling errors, and there are words used incorrectly. Like "Phased" isn't the same as "Fazed", and nobody told the author, it seems. There are continuity issues that a good editor should have found and pointed out to be corrected, but I don't really care about these issues, because the books are super romantic, super sexy, and super emotional.

On to the next one. While they're readable as standalones, focused on a specific couple for each book, couples from previous books in the series make an appearance, and they're loosely tied together in that there's an underlying whodunit plot about arson and fertility clinics in their town.

✔ Letto!
Libro carino, bella continuazione dell'altro. Abbiamo ancora visto i primi protagonisti e aggiunti altri interessanti e la famigliola è in continua crescita. Adorabili.
Per me è ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

Forgiving for a Chance at Love

Xander Collins certainly knows how to bring the angst. Do you like a good friends to lovers story? How about one about Second Chances? If it's the latter then you ought to really enjoy this story. How do you forgive the person that ruined your life? What happens when you run into that let's in the last places you ever expected? What do you say? Do you just punch him in the mouth? While that might be satisfying - it doesn't get to the root of the problem - Why? By did you leave me? Why did you ghost me & act like I didn't exist?

Can a broken heart be healed by the person who broke it? What do you do when you're trying to just regroup & think and yet everywhere you turn there he is? Maybe if you just concentrate on your job, family, and helping a teen homeless Omega. Who knew he'd bring you your heart's desire? Someone so precious that he even manages to bridge the gap between you and your Ex. Are you brave enough to admit your feelings for your Ex have not entirely gone away?

I had my reasons for learning him. I kept meaning to contact him & tell him why but life kept interfering. Now it seems like it's too late. Like he hates me. Oh God why was I do foolish. If I had it to do again I'd confess everything to him. He won't give me a chance now. But we have some common ground. A gorgeous saved Omega baby. I hold her and she soothes my aching heart. I want her to be mine. And God help me I still want him to find a way to forgive me & be mine.

I adored this story. Some many great Mpreg elements. I am to read the Third Book in this series.

This is the second book in The Portville Series. A delightful book the writing was great. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters wonderful. The characters were developed and thought out. Jake is an Omega and Stephen is an Alpha are the MC’s of this book. There was humor, a clinic and hospital, family, changes, abandonment, loss, understanding and so much more in this book. Including a conversation about food that was great It had me laughing out loud and I don’t do that very often.

Here is a quote from the book, “I do want to tell him. I have so much I’ve wanted to say to him for so long. I just don’t know if I’m ready yet. Especially not after the way he looked at me at your party and at the clinic this morning.”. There is more but you will need to read the book which I can recommend it as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Book number 2 can I get an "hell yeah!" Lol. I enjoyed this book the tension at the beginning made me sad and the main characters feelings for the other was also stress inducing. But eventually it mellows out and some humor enters the book. Though in this one the humor came almost towards the end or little over half way.

Character breakdown;

Stephen: I've been in his shoes having someone walk out on you with no reason or even a goodbye. But it was therapeutic to see how he dealt with the emotions that came when his ex came back. And I especially loved how he was sweet yet hard, loving yet stern. Great balance.

Jake: my heart weeped for him! I cannot imagine all the things one man had to endure in his lifetime. Let alone the loss and the depression he was surely facing. But I thoroughly enjoyed the happy ending he was given. Well deserved.

It was an awesome book, definitely worth picking up. I also love how these books are completely different from each other. Love!

I received this book by the author for an honest opinion.
I read the first book in this series and really enjoyed it so when I had the opportunity to read the 2nd I gladly did and enjoyed this one as well. This was the story of Stephen who we had a little snippet of from the previous book as the brother of the main character from the 1st book Mark and the second chance love on the one who got away Jake.
This takes us through some heart breaking tales and you really feel for the characters. This was another well written book that let us see Stephen get his happy ever after as I was wanting him to and solved all the questions we were wondering from the ending in book 1. Free flowing words that just scooped you up into the story and took you along for the ride and some sweet babies to complete their little family. A good book.

All over, some betas are transitioning into omegas. Apparently, this is not a new phenomenon. Welcome back to author Xander Collin's second book and exciting out of the box series. Here we have ex lovers Stephen, Mark's brother from book one, His Biggest Secret and Jake. Both in were college/medical school together and despite the unconventional Alpha/Beta pairing, they were determined to mate.

That is until Jake disappeared and broked Stephen's heart. Now eleven years later, Jake makes an appearance, but something is off. Read about this exciting development and how changes in history can correct one's future. Read in one sitting and got double the pleasure. Babies, that is.

First time reading this author and I really liked his writing style and the story was easy to follow. It concentrated on the main characters throughout the book, but it gave good insight into the secondary characters. Such an amazing story on how life can give you second chances to follow your heart. Stephen had spent so many years bitter and angry that it affected his entire life. Then out of nowhere the source of that anger showed up at his brother's house. Jake had his reasons and his secrets for when he left and broke Stephen's heart, but he never expected such anger, although he did not blame Stephen. He did this and now he longs to set things right. Deep down they still love each other, the story follows them as they face their past and prepare for their future. Loved that the book came full circle with the HEA.

This is a great series and I really enjoyed His Deepest Desire. Stephen is shocked when his ex Jake shows up out of the blue after eleven years apart. Jake had left town without telling Stephen and he still is dealing with his anger and hurt. They have a second chance to love each other again but Jake will have to tell Stephen what caused him to leave and everything that he has experienced since then. Stephen has to decide if he can forgive Jake and if he wants to be with him. There are cute babies, good friends and sweet romance in this story. It was great to catch up with Mark, Landon and their son Trevor from the previous book as well. I can't wait to read the next book.
I was given an ARC to review by the author.

*I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one elses*

I really enjoyed this book - it was sweet yet heartbreaking.

Stephan and Jake have spent eleven years apart when fate crosses their own paths yet again. Has their love grown despite the distance or lost forever?

Stephen and Jake had great chemistry. The intensity/depth of their connection was captured perfectly. Jake’s vulnerability and fears were captured and explored beautifully.

I eagerly look forward to reading Daniel’s story!

This was a good, quick and cute second chance romance. Stephen and Jake were in love in college until one day, Jake just up and left and they haven't seen each other for 11 years. Now Jake is back in town and working with Stephen! Their attraction and chemistry are still there but will Jake explain why he left, and will Stephen forgive him? I really like how the story played out and the ending left me craving the next book for the next couple!

Super satisfying story with TWO babies

Continuing the visit to Portville (but could be stand-alone, I think), this story began in a sad and frustrating place. However, the HEA was exquisitely happy for both main characters. Again, great insight into emotional baggage and resolving it (conversation) and moving on to 'a happy place' for all. Also looks into social justice issues around gender, sex and age. I enjoyed returning to this omegaverse. Willingly picking up the next book.

A second chance romance that is really sweet with very likable mc's. Stephen and Jakes story is well written and i read it in one sitting. I also like that i got to see Mark and Landon from the first book in this series.

I would recommend reading book one first, i think it really sets up the scene and atmosphere for the reader to really enjoy this book.

Old flame/new flame

I really enjoyed Stephen and Jake's story. The whole Beta changing to Omega thing is intriguing. Love lost and found again is my favorite kind, and these two belonged together. Okay, the whole 5 months in bed with his doctor hubby taking care of him is a bit far fetched for real life, but this is fiction. Looking forward to Daniel's book.

Beautiful

Stephen and Jakes story is one of second chances and letting go of anger. I really liked that Stephen wasn’t a typical Alpha while Jake was one of those characters that you feel so much for. Add in babies and you have a beautiful story.

I can’t wait for the next one!!!

Good

An alright read, it just doesn't hit all the buttons like the first book did for me. It has a good storyline but, after Jake gets pregnant it just seems to jump ahead and progress to fast. There are moments that do stand out and make it good

Follow heart, Not fear

It was really sad at first, but I understand the story has to be built. Watching (or reading) about these two getting over their fears and finally following their hearts was super cute.

🌟🌟🌟OK

Story blurb sounded interesting.
The description of HIS DEEPEST DESIRE by Xander Collins captured my attention, so I skimmed through some of the book's reviews.
Unfortunately, the story didn't meet my expectations. It was ok but basic.

I did not like Jake at all. Maybe it was because the book started out with Stephen's POV and I got into the angst he was dishing out, but I really didn't feel any sympathy toward Jake at all. He was a little annoying and I didn't feel like he deserved Stephen. Bro even tried to have kids with another guy that he wasn't even in love with! I don't know about you guys, but if I were Stephen and I had spent all those years wondering about my "mate," to find out that he had tried to start a family with someone else, I would be feeling pretty heartbroken and resentful. (Side note-- maybe I'm just being petty, but I also don't really like it when the MCs in a romance are still really close with their ex-partners. In this case, Jake is still close with Brad, the guy he had two miscarriages with.)

I was confused on how they both viewed their relationship 11 years ago: Stephen says they were mates, but Jake refers to him as an ex-boyfriend. Those are two very different levels of partnership, and the separate labels made it seem like they weren't on the same page. I stopped reading after Jake tells Stephen about why he left him 11 years ago without saying anything, so I don't know if Stephen ever reveals if he's been with anyone since Jake. So between that and the mate-vs.-boyfriend thing, I'm coming out on Stephen's side since it looks like he took their relationship more seriously than Jake did.

I'm wondering if the book started with Jake's POV, if I would have felt differently. He just seemed to spit everything out without really convincing me that he was sorry. I definitely felt how hurt and betrayed Stephen was, but I didn't feel anything for Jake when he revealed his miscarriages. I usually do feel sympathy for characters that go through it. I've read books with very detailed, emotional miscarriages and for a few days after, my stomach felt tender and sensitive with these weird sympathy pains. Maybe because Jake's miscarriage happens off-page and I never even connected with his character in the first place, I didn't feel anything for him. (And this is a lighter book, so there's not going to be any details on his miscarriages; I get that.)

Anyway, I thought the angst was good in the beginning, but I was not a fan of how fast Jake was forgiven for just abandoning Stephen. I was expecting a good grovel, but I found myself reading a very wordy-but-flat apology. Aside from my distaste of Jake, the writing was good, but I will not be finishing this.

This is the second novel in the Portville Omegaverse. It can be read as a standalone, but I personally think it is better to read it after the first novel "Hig Biggest Secret." Here, Jake arrives back in town after abruptly leaving 11 years ago. When he left he didn't even tell his boyfriend, Stephen he was going, leaving the man devasated and heartbroken. But Jake is back and he even gets placed as a clinical director in the office where Stephen is head physician. Now the two men, in close proximity have to figure out how to put the past behind them and move on; because maybe the love they had long ago is still there and ready to flourish.

I was eager to read this novel after finishing Mark's story in the first book. Xander Collins introduced a nice teaser in that novel by showing the tension between the two men when Jake delivered Mark's son. So, this book was a one-click on Amazon for me. It was on the shorter side and I did enjoy the chemistry between the two men. The only thing I was a little weary on was Jake's reasons for leaving. I don't want to spoil anything so I'm not gonna mention the reasons but I felt that they didn't add up. For who Stephen is and his character I just don't think he would ever let anything happen to Jake or hurt him. I think had Stephen known what Jake was going through then he would have supported him 100%. So, this makes me angry that Jake kinda threw away what they had before even discussing with this man who he loved. I think Stephen deserved better then. Needless to say, when they reunited it was tense and awkward but overtime the romance ebbed and flowed very well.

Jake is really selfish..! Because of that reason, he left Stephen for eleven long years without saying a word. When Stephen tried to called him so many times, he didn't even bother to called him back. While Stephen suffered from his broken heart, Jake started to build his life instead with other man eventhough he still in love with Stephen and on top of that, he was pregnant 2 times with his new man but he had miscarriages.

I know Jake must start his new life after he left Stephen BUT WHY WAIT FOR 11 YEARS TO COME BACK TO STEPHEN'S LIFE AFTER ALL THIS TIME.....!!!!!

Nauseating

I'm uncertain how the author can create such appalling characters! Jake is sly, devious and manipulative. Mark is disloyal towards his brother. Mark thinks nothing of putting Jake, who had caused his brother emotional and psychological harm, before Stephen. Yet this is contradictory to Mark's personality in Book One. The author tried to create angst and tension but fails miserably.

I don't really know if I love or I kind of not love this book. I find Jake's reason for leaving Stephen too... shallow? It could've been fixed easily if he just told the truth in the first place. Still giving 4 stars tho. Could've been 5, but well..
