PS. From Rascal, the dog: "Why is the dog vs. cat debate even a thing? Dogs love their hoomans more than anything. Cats barely tolerate their peeple, and they like to play scratchy-bleedy games. No, thank you!"

PPS. From Morty, the cat: "I won't even touch on that dumb dog's atrocious spelling. Cats are obviously more intelligent and have more discerning tastes than dogs. Silly old dogs will love anyone unconditionally, but you have to earn a cat's love. Cats rule and dogs drool... literally."

Here is a Top 10 list from Ann about her likes, dislikes, and oddities:

1. I despise whipped cream. There, I admitted it in writing. Let the ridiculing begin.
2. Even though I have lived as far south as Key Largo, Florida and as far north as Maine, I landed in the middle.
3. If I don't make a conscious effort not to, I will drink nothing but tea morning, noon and night. Hot tea, sweet tea, green tea––I love it all.
4. There doesn't seem to be much in life that is better than coming home to a couple of big dogs who are overjoyed to see me. My other family members usually show significantly less enthusiasm about my return.
5. Singing in my bestest, loudest voice does not make my family put on their happy faces. This includes the big, loving dogs referenced above.
6. Yes, I am aware that bestest is not a word.
7. Dorothy was right. There's no place like home.
8. All of the numerous bottles in my shower must be lined up with their labels facing out. It makes me feel a little like Julia Roberts' mean husband from the movie 'Sleeping with the Enemy,' but I can't seem to control this particular quirk.
9. I love, love, love finding a great bargain.
10. Did I mention that I hate whipped cream? It makes my stomach churn to look at it, touch it, smell it, or even think about it. Great––now I'm thinking about it. Ick!

This was cute! I decided to listen to this audiobook because I am a huge animal lover. Adding a cute animal to a great story is always a good thing. This audiobook contains two works: Goofy Newfies and Itty Bitty Kitties. The two stories are very connected and share a lot of the same characters. I wasn't totally in love with this audiobook but I thought it was overall a nice enough listen.

The audiobook opens with Goofy Newfies. This story was my favorite of the pair. I was intrigued by this story from the start. Lily has just lost her husband but isn't quite as devastated as you might expect. She is a writer so she deals with those feelings by writing about it but her writing gets her in trouble. There is also a puppy that keeps sneaking away from the neighbor and cuddling up to her even though she is sure that she doesn't need a dog in the house. I thought that the characters were interesting in this one and the dogs often took center stage. The romance was very sweetly done.

Itty Bitty Kitties is the second story in the audiobook. It is also about twice as long as the first story. Unfortunately, this one didn't work out so well for me. Julia is single, pregnant, and feels rather alone. She moves in with her cousin along with her cat to start over. I hate to say that I didn't care for Julia. I found her to be rather annoying and quick to judge others. I did like Derek quite a bit but I didn't feel any chemistry in the romance.

This was a very sweet set of stories that were very PG. It was probably a little too PG and too cute for my tastes but that is not the fault of the book. I just wanted things to heat up just a tiny bit. I thought that the animals in the stories were very well done and I love how well developed they were as characters.

This was my first experience with Audra Cook as a narrator and I thought she did a good job with this story. It was always very easy to tell which character was speaking and the voices were very well done. She had a very pleasant reading voice that I found easy to listen to for hours at a time.

I think that a lot of readers will enjoy this one a bit more than I did. Anyone who likes sweet romances with a heavy dose of adorable animals will want to give this one a try.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Initial Thoughts
This was cute....maybe a little too cute at times. The two stories are very connected with the main characters from Goofy Newfies playing a big role in Itty Bitty Kitties. The story was very PG....probably a little too PG for my tastes. I thought that the narrator did a nice job with the story. This was a pleasant easy listen.

Goofy Newfies
I’m not sure quite what to call this book. It’s not what I usually expect from a romance since the relationship between the people was almost secondary in the story to the relationships with the pets. But, for anyone who’s ever been owned by a pet, that’s probably not surprising – our furry friends make all the decisions. Reading this book during the holiday season feel kind of appropriate. It has nothing to do with Christmas, but it has the feeling of redeeming the Grinch. Lily is a very Grinch-ly character at the beginning of the book. But once Van and the puppies are done with her, it’s easy to see how her heart’s grown several sizes.
Itty Bitty Kitties
This story seems to pick up fairly shortly after the end of the first book, and it feels like it was a bit more focused on the people than the pets than in that previous one. It took me quite a while to warm up to Julia. Even giving her the benefit of the doubt for raging hormone swings, she comes across as a Mean Girl, and in my mind, I was getting ready to steer Derek away from her. In much the same way that Lily’s heart grew during “Goofy Newfies”, Julia learns the value of having an open heart and forgiveness. By the end of the book, I loved her too. Not as much as I loved the fur balls, mind you, but love just the same. The love notes from the pets are the cutest things I’ve ever read – I could be convinced to read a whole book of just those.
I received a complimentary copy of this book.

I already read and reviewed Goofy Newfies when it first came out, and naturally I wanted to see how the series continued and read Itty Bitty Kitties. Quite the story of an unwed mother and her Persian show kitten moving in with her cousin Van who we met in Goofy Newfies. Julia unknowingly meets her new neighbor on her way to her cousin's house. (Imagine a convertible, a cat in a carrier, a bucket of fried chicken, and an unrestrained Newfie in a jeep at a stoplight!) It is a hint as what is to come during the following months while living with her cousin.

When Lily, the neighbor and girlfriend of Van, has a fire in her house, not only is Julia forced to rethink her original assessment of Lily, but she also has the chance to meet a hunky fireman. Is it a chance for an unwed pregnant woman to find love? But who would take on another man's child?
Many emotions, surprises, and funny things happen, but you have to read it to believe it!

This is a perfect companion to Goofy Newfies, and even for non-cat lovers (I admit that's me too) it has plenty of Newfies in it as well to keep the balance. Well written in an easy to read style, both human and animal characters come alive to give you a delightful story about families and love.

Goofy Newfies #1- Warning this book will hurt you! It's been awhile since I belly laughed my way through a book. Every page had me rolling on the floor till my sides ached. The storylines are cute and interesting. I liked all the characters, some were actually cute and interesting and furry; the humans were likable and nice to have as neighbors.

Of everyone had their own personalities, whether two or four legged. This is a sweet, clean, wholesome read and it's perfect for a kids' bedtime story. I luckily got to chain read the second book. Not only was it great to read a good humor and love filled story, but it was well edited. 5*

Itty Bitty Kitties #2 - This book is almost as funny as Goofy Newfies. There still are plenty of belly laughs, but there's a touch of gravity with a couple of issues. We're still in the same neighborhood, just next door and with two new, scratch that, eight new main characters. Again there are the interesting storylines, interesting characters with a variety of personalities, and interesting happenings that are only to be expected.

While this book would still work for a bedtime story, there are parts I would skip over depending on the ages of the kiddos. I contacted the author to review this book and received it through Booksprout. 5*

🐕Happy puppies and 🐈kitties find their lucky people to adore and Cupid launches a few arrows💘
December 21, 2018
Format: Kindle Edition
👍👍Cute and humorous connected stories that ooze 🏡small town neighborliness and a true love for animals while several sweet romances 🌹 bloom. Whether it's dealing with a renegade escape artist Newfoundland puppy or meshing a new band of 😼kittens into a 🐶dog-dominated household, both stories join the pets to their humans in a playful and sometimes hilarious way.

The opening chapters of both books are very funny and set the stage for a delightful, light and sweet read. Some of the humans find ❤ romance, others solid companionship with their new pets or new friendships with neighbors.

I am glad they were published in a set because the kitten story would not be near as good if you had not read the newfie story first, and the kitty story provides excellent updates on the lives of the main pet and human characters in the newfie story, including a terrifically satisfying HEA.

🐕You don't have to be a pet owner or animal lover to enjoy the humor and heart in this well-written duet. If you are a pet lover, this is a set of stories not to be passed by!:-) 🐈

I read a complimentary advance copy of the set; this is my voluntary and honest review.

The Pet Set Duet: Goofy Newfies & Itty Bitty Kitties is a two-book release from the Pet Set series. The stories in this series do need to be read in the order of release.

Goofy Newfies: Lily is an author whose husband has recently been killed in a car accident. Then the journal article she wrote for herself, accidently got put in the wrong folder on her computer, her editor published it, and it went viral. Now, she’s a social-media, modern-day Cruella DeVille. She didn’t expect to meet the vet tech, Van, from next door. The cute vet tech… but she had to return the puppy that wiggled it’s way under the fence and in her kitty door.

Itty Bitty Kitties: Remember Van? Well, his cousin Julia has found herself in the family way, but the family isn’t supporting her. Van has invited her to come visit while she sorts it all out. Then Lily’s house burns down, and Derek is the fireman assigned to investigate after the fire is put out. While there may not be any more sparks at the house, there are definitely sparks between Derek and Julia. Too bad she’s seeing green anytime Lily needs to speak to Derek.

Not to worry, everything works out. That’s my favorite thing about romance, or books in general. Life is fair in books. Not so much in real life, right. In the end, I close the book with a smile and a wish to return.

I loved both of these stories. I loved that the second story was a continuation and built upon the relationships begun in the first, not that each just held the other’s characters as secondary players. There is a real sense of community in that building together. I hope there will be more in this series. What other fun pets will come? Llama Drama? A Horse, of Course?

Narration: Audra Cook is a wonderful narrator. She speaks clearly and gives appropriate drama to the situations of the characters. It was like listening to a dear friend tell a favorite story.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy via getfreeaudiobooks, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Goofy Newfies: A sweet, cute, clean novella telling the story of a guy fostering a litter of Newfoundland puppies whose breeder unexpectedly died. He's selling them to raise the money to pay for her funeral. We follow the antics of the puppies as they "pick" their people, and romp through the first fun weeks of growing up, and along the way, watch a budding romance. This is a fast, sweet read that will leave you with a warm feeling inside.

Itty Bitty Kitties: We meet Van again (from the previous book), helping out his cousin Julia, an unwed mother who's being shunned by her family. Julia has a show-quality, white Persian cat who has an unfortunate encounter with Van's girlfriend Lily's mangy alleycat, Mortie, while Julia has a chicken-induced introduction with Rascal, Lily's Newfie. A house fire throws all the characters together with sometimes sad, often hilarious results. A sweet, clean read that will put a smile on your face.

The storyline in both novellas flows well, and the editing is good. Definitely a must-read for animal lovers, and anyone who likes a fun read.

I received an ARC copy of this book in return for my honest review.

I must preface this review with the fact that I am not an animal lover in real life (I don't like the licking thing at all). With that being said, the two books in this duet were freaking hysterical and turned me into an animal lover (in books at least).

Goofy Newfies

I adored this story. Even I fell in love with the Newfies, especially Rascal. I felt Lilly's pain at the loss of her husband. That it wasn't as acute as she thought it should be. I totally get it. I also loved Van and his sunny disposition. This is a sweet romance that is as much about healing as it is falling for each other as well as the puppies.

Itty Bitty Kitties

Julia made me laugh. She was so sure that Derek had a thing for Lilly. She was so prickly to everyone, especially the animals that I ust wanted her to take a chill pill. She eventually relaxes, but getting there was a ton of fun and work. I adored the kittens and Newfies and can only imagine the havoc that they wreak at Christmas.

I loved both of these stories. The characters were well written, funny and endearing. Two more great stories from Ann Omasta.

Goofy Newfies

Love comes in many shapes
A nice cute and quick read. Lily's husband has died but she doesn't feel heartbroken as she should. Her true feels suddenly become know to the world when her written thoughts are published. To further throw her life in to chaos is a a mysterious ball of fluff that keeps manages to sneak in from next door. Can she find peace with both the next door neighbour and the puppy who is beginning to steal her heart

Itty Bitty Kitties

Julia finds herself pregnant and dumped by not only her boyfriend but her family as well. Lucky her cousin Van invites her today say with him. Her new life gets off to a rocky start when she gets a crash introduction to Van's girlfriend Lily and her Newfie Rascal. To make matters worse her precious person is soon impregnated on arrival by Morty. Things get even more complicated when Lily's house burns down and they move in brings handsome fireman Derek into the picture. Julia though has been burnt by love and being pregnant holds little hope of being part of family. Can Van, Derek and the pets prove to Julia family is often where you least expect it

Loving this series. I do hope there is more in the future

The Pet Set Duet: Goofy Newfies & Itty Bitty Kitties
By: Ann Omasta
Narrated by: Audra Cook

If you like furry friends, this book is for you! It's two couples in one, giving us those that love dogs and those that love cats. We start with Lily, who's husband just died. Her neighbor's dog keeps breaking in, and from there we meet Donovan, the Newfoundland puppies and an array of quirky characters. It's a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. Next we have Julia and Derek. These two are centered around kittens, though the story is more about the people. Julia is hard to warm up to, but I think her character is meant to be that way. Derek is sweet and if you love cats, you will love this one. The tie between the two books is connected with Julia and Donovan and gives the combination some cohesiveness. It's a sweet, fun and furry listen.

Audra Cook gives a great performance for this duet. She is very talented, and I love to listen to her. She has a great array of voices, and adds a lot to the stories with her ability to connect to the characters. It was a joy to hear her.

Goofy Newfies is the first story about Lily, a writer whose husband has passed away, and Van, her next door neighbor with a litter of Newfies for which he is finding loving homes. Lily is not an animal lover but is stuck with her husband’s cat. When one of the Newfie pups keeps finding his way into her house, she soon finds herself in love with the little Rascal. As she keeps returning the dog to Van, the two find themselves in love. Itty Bitty Kitties, the second book, is the sequel of the first book in which we find Julia, an unwed expectant mother and her cat coming to live with her cousin Van who has also kept one of the Newfie pups. When Lily’s house catches fire, a handsome firefighter named Derek comes to the rescue. Sparks fly. Julia and Derek are enameled with each other. Add in the animals and it’s raining cats and dogs. These stories are a delight, full of romance and warm fuzzies. They are a quick read and sure to leave a smile on your face. Great job!

I had read "Goofy Newfies" before, but I reread the story to remember all the characters.
Again, the puppies stole the scene in the story, and Lily and Donovan are very interesting characters.
I confess I'm not much of a cat fan, but I love the story of "Itty Bitty Kitties". The new characters, Julia and Derek, contributed to another great storytelling. Julia is struggling to cope with her pregnancy alone, but when she meets Derek, under not-so-good circumstances, she has a prospect of perhaps having a family. And Julia's cat, P.K., is very funny, with her characteristic cat behavior, getting "upset" about the change and everything.
I laughed a lot with the scene of the Christmas tree and the kitties.
These are great stories, which always leave us with a smile on our faces.
I highly recommend the reading.
Oh, and I'm #TeamDog! Sorry, Morty! ;)

GOOFY NEWFIES

Goofy Newfies was such a delightful surprise. As an animal lover and former Vet Nurse I can really appreciate all the trials, tribulations and love involved in pet ownership. This is a short, sweet read and the interactions between Lily and Donovan are humorous and heart warming, also, the fact that the puppies touch the lives of their owners in such positive ways reflects the best life has to offer.

If you love stories with animals in them do yourself a favour and fill in a few hours with this sweet, fun read. Thank you for the chance to read this Ann Omasta, loved it.

ITTY BITTY KITTIES

What a delightful follow up to Goofy Newfies. I enjoyed meeting up with old friends and meeting new ones like Julia and Derek, P.K. And the kittens. DeeDee is a lovely bonus. Such a sweet read to wile away a few hours

These two stories make up one thoroughly charming narrative about finding a forever family that anyone who has ever owned a dog or a cat will find it hard not to love. Goofy Newfies tells the story of the search for a home for a litter of Newfoundland puppies.
Not surprisingly, Itty Bitty Kitties which picks up pretty much where the earlier story leaves off is the story of our hero's single, pregnant cousin, her purebred Persian cat and the surprise litter of kittens that arrives after a liaison with the neighbour's tomcat.
Ann Omasta writes about pets and their owners with a love and sense of humor that must have taken a lifetime to develop.
Sweet, funny and surprisingly perceptive, this story will keep you smiling and make it impossible to resist reaching out occasionally to stroke you own fur baby if you have one.
One of the best romcoms I've read in awhile.

So this is a dual book listen and I have to say that I really enjoyed book 1 and while I liked book 2, it wasn't as enjoyable for me as book 1. My absolute favorite part of this was the bonus letter - that was GREAT! Book one is about a woman who is struggling with her lack of emotions after her husbands passing and ends up falling in love with a stubborn puppy who won't take no for an answer and subsequently falls in love with the neighbor who is responsible for the pup. Book 2 is about a young woman who finds herself single and pregnant and longing for love and finds it in a hero - but insecurities surface - will this hero want a pre made family?!?
Again - best part is the bonus letter at the end! I loved it - and the into to book 3 which is next on my listen list!

I listened to the audiobook version of this book.

If you're a dog or cat lover and you know the love and happiness they bring into one's life, then you'll absolutely relate to this story. You'll also fall madly in love with the cuteness that is easy to picture in these two stories. Absolutely adorable story, it almost gives me puppy fever. Also, we get two cute couples whose romance begins with puppies and kittens. A definite feel good story that is sure to leave you feeling positive and upbeat.

I thought the narrator did an excellent job and perfectly captured all the feelings throughout. I thought she was a great fit for the story and made everything seem even more adorable.

I received a free book with two stories and voluntarily chose to review it. I have previously reviewed Goofy Newfies. I thoroughly enjoyed both books. If you love cats and dogs, this is definitely for you. Even if you don’t, you will enjoy the romance. The first book is a human story with Newfoundland puppies in it. With the kittens we get to see some of the neighbors from the first book. The kittens cause problems, too.

Adorable animal box set that is heartwarming and sweet. Each book is a loveable romance starring a cute and cuddly furry friend. There are two quick reads to this set that will have you wanting to snuggle with your own furry friend and maybe a not so furry companion. I love how Ann develops the characters in both books and how her stories are so uplifting and sweet. Can't wait to read more. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.

It's a set of two stories that follows each other.
Goofy Newfies is a fun and heartwarming story that I reviewed earlier in the stand alone book.
Book no 2 Itty Bitty Kitties was also a sweet fun story.
The Newfies are still there but a few new persons/cats appear, like a single 'mother to ber' and a Cat that becomes more. Oh, almost forgot - a handsome, Sexy firefighter. Could it be any better?

I voluntarily reviewed an Adcance Reader Copy of this book.

I listened to the audio. The narration was awesome.

Loved these books. There are two different books but they go together. Those dogs and cats were so funny. I laughed so many times. These dogs truly do pick their owners and I think the cats did too. When they were all in the same house together, all three adults with the dogs and both cats and all the kittens, it was total chaos. Now I have to get the rest in the series.

My thirteenth read from author Ann Omasta. After having read Aloha Baby & planning on reading the rest of the Escape Series books I found myself side-tracked by The Pet Set Duet: Goofy Newfies & Itty Bitty Kitties. Another, cozyish in nature, short entertaining and well-written read from her. Having read Books 1 & 2 in The Pet Set next up will be book 3, Funny Bunnies: A sweet Opposites Attract Romance Novelette. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
