#1 Best Seller: Book Marketing ... Reinvented

Rate this book
The business of book marketing has changed! The traditional rules longer apply, and a new era of marketing books is upon us-an approach in which authors are authentically engaging their audiences. But where do you start?

Today's megasuccess authors are not only writers but entrepreneurs who expertly work a strategy that leverages the power of social media, search engine optimization, advertising, speaking, bookstore signings, and a combination of other programs that are incredibly rewarding to the author.

Every author wants a road map or step-by-step guide for a successful book launch. To book marketing professionals in large publishing houses, this is the holy grail, so they can repeat the success of their last launch campaign.

With this system, you will no longer have the guesswork associated with choosing which marketing programs to run for a successful launch. Bryan Heathman has managed hundreds of book marketing campaigns and created a repeatable fifteen-week system to promote nonfiction books.

Bryan's approach to book marketing was inspired by running massively successful campaigns that have resulted in New York Times bestsellers, Wall Street Journal bestsellers, and Amazon #1 bestsellers for famous authors, including professional speaker Chris Widener, America's #1 sales trainer Tom Hopkins, US Olympian Johnny Quinn, and three-time World Series champion Todd Stottlemyre.

Unlike other works, which list a hundred things to do when marketing a book, this approach is distilled into a manageable fifteen-week burst of activity-individual actions that, when done in a scheduled time frame, are proven to produce the results you desire for your book launch.

As a person who read 7-8 books about book marketing, here is what I think about this book... CONTENT: I don’t see anything that was reinvented in this book. Media outreach, author website, book signings, giveaways etc. all well-known methods. Because of the highly promised name (#1 Best Seller - Reinvented book marketing), I’d expected the book to give a few tips that are not mentioned in other resources but I was disappointed. It actually misses out some crucial info. How the Amazon algorithm works? Is KDP select a good idea? What would be the day-by-day plan to do in and before launch week to make the book a best seller? Many questions like these are unanswered. I’m glad that crowdfunding is mentioned though. Also stats it gives are useful. Pub date is relatively recent. That’s a plus too... NARRATION: I listen to audio books a lot. This is the first book I had to change the speed for. Narrator is too fast. I had to listen it at 0.8x. There are several tongue slips but apparently nobody bothered re-recording them. I also heard narrator flipping pages. Sounds like noise reduction is not done well. In overall, it felt like the narration was completed in hurry

As a small, independent author who doesn’t have a ton of extra money laying around, I don’t think I was the target audience for this book. It’s a great book, and I definitely got some ideas for some marketing strategies, though. This was the first book I’ve read that discussed how to leverage GoodReads for book sales, which is kind of nuts since it’s one of the largest platforms for readers. But aside from GoodReads and some other gems, Bryan Heathman comes from the publishing industry, so quite a few strategies in here require some marketing money and other resources. Some of the topics he covers are social media ads, hiring a publicist, going on book tours, and more. For someone like myself where it’d be a stretch to invest even $100 into marketing, there’s quite a bit I can’t take advantage of. If you’re an author with some money or are working with a publisher, you’ll gain a bit more value from this book.

Simple and easy to follow steps/tips about how one can market their book. With the pandemic, some of the options may not be available; however, the information can still apply via the online space. There are quite a few options in this book that making this adjustment would only add another layer to your exposure to more of your audience. If followed accurately, I can see how these tips can put newly published authors ahead of the curve.

I love Audible Plus. Listening to this was like getting a coffee with a great book marketer.

It's all nuts and bolts. There's a number of to-do lists that get right to the point. No time is wasted.

You won't find anything earth shattering and new here. You will find a number of small details you were missing. It all adds up at the end of the year.

Informative. I am considering using this formula when I publish my book but I will be reading at least two more books on book marketing just to compare. I like the idea of having a website, media kit etc ready to go. Personally I like to work from end to beginning. I think it would be a great idea to have these things prepared when you are half way through your book.

A good overview with lots of tips for new authors. Much is inline with the authors experience in professional marketing. Less on the finer points of social media. Certainly a book any new author should add to their arsenal of marketing advice.

This book explores an interesting subject, albeit a bit outdated. However, I understand that individuals less familiar with the internet and marketing may find support. It is written, making it very accessible. In its way, I consider it good :)

I don't think this book is relevant for self-published authors in 2021. It was published in 2016, so I'd recommend finding something newer.
