For tests after July 1, 2018. Here's the "Easy Way" to get your Technician Class amateur radio license. The book is new so check the reviews for the previous edition. The test is multiple choice and the other study guides take you through the pool of 424 questions including all four possible answers for each question. But three out of the four answers are WRONG! You are studying 1,272 wrong answers and that is both confusing and frustrating. The Easy Way focuses only on the right answers with hints, cheats and explanations to help you pass. It is all Ham and no Spam. The first part is a narrative of the author's ham radio experience. Every question and answer is woven into the story and identified in bold print. The second part is a 40-page Quick Summary condensing every question and correct answer for easy recall. Which would you rather study: right answers or over 200 pages with three quarters of the answers wrong? Instructors: This book is perfect for review or weekend courses. Have the students read the narrative before class, then go over the concepts with them rather than slogging through all those wrong answers. You'll be done in no time and the students will be fully prepared to take their tests.
What can I say, read this book, go online take the QRZ.com quizzes, take a weekend class, pass the Technician exam. That's exactly what I did in the space of less than 15 days. I now have the General Class book and we will see how that goes next month. Seriously K4IA's book is good reading, well written, makes sense of a complex subject in an entertaining and educational fashion. Read this one if you read no other book before taking the Technician class exam. If you pay attention you will pass.
I read this book and practiced on qrz.com to get my technician license. I ended up knowing hardly anything, so now I'm going to read some other more in-depth books. This book is the perfect example of teaching to the test.
I am not a fan of the teach to the test books that are out there, but a lot of people are. For that reason I give it four stars. Due to a shortage of books that our club usually uses while teaching the technician class, I read this one as a possible replacement. As such it would do just fine and it is available in Kindle book format so you don't have to worry about it being out of print. Find the book that fits your learning style and go for that ham radio license.
Very easy to understand. Very helpful in way book was written. Haven’t taken test yet, but after going through this book, I will have no problem passing it. Even if you are not a radio or computer geek, you should have no problem with taking the Technician test after studying the book
This book is all about passing the test. Which is exactly what it tells you it is for. If you have a good memory you can learn a lot from the book. For me the electrical diagrams were of the most help. The book is written so you can learn the answers by doing the questions over and over. It helped me pass the test but I found two other books that better helped me be a Ham.
This book had a lot of good hints and presented the material in a way that was easy to remember. This book plus practice tests apps makes getting your technician class a walk in the park.
There was nothing to dislike about this book. It was to the point on explaining each test question. I am going to read the next in the series to get my General class license.
That was excellent. I especially enjoyed your stories. Rubbing your English teacher's nose in your contact with Pitcairn Island was not politically correct, but I don't know how a teenager could resist the temptation. Please keep up the good work.
Excellent preparation book for Technicians Exam for Amateur Radio (Ham). This book helped me prepare for and pass my Technician’s examination. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in learning the information needed to pass the exam.
Well written and to the point! I feel confident I will pass the test after reading this book. Far better than the multiple choice test question app I have been using.
I like the format. It is written in a format that only uses the correct answers. Less confusing. It make for an efficient review prior to the Technician exam.
