Dragons in Exile #5.5

Daughter of Draekons

Rate this book
Daughter of Draekons is a short story set in the Exiled To The Prison Planet (Dragons in Exile) series. It does not not stand alone, and should be read after Draekon Destiny, Book 5. Catch up with everyone on the prison planet while you’re waiting for Draekon Fever.

We're still stuck on the prison planet, and I'm pregnant.

I cycle between three states. Hungry. Horny. Weepy.

I eat french fries dipped in vanilla pudding.

I look like a beached whale.

I'm also scared. No one knows what my child will look like, or what species she’ll be. She could be human or Draekon, or…

Something else entirely. Something new.

Daughter of Draekons.

This was a mid series novella which catches the reader up on everything that happened so far. It starts with Harper, who is the first pregnant human in the group of Draekon and Humans. She is close to having her baby and suffering from some odd cravings (french fries dipped in vanilla pudding). She is also anxious about her baby, since she is the first human pregnant by the Draekon. She doesn’t know if her baby will be Human, Draekon or a mix.

The narration was done by Natasha Lawless, whose voice I really liked. The book was told in multiple points of view, by the ladies of the group. Each woman gave a bit of a summary about what is going on in their lives. They have moved into the hidden apartments inside the mountain which they found accidentally.

We also got a point of view of Raiht’vi, the scientist whose father is evil and who is engaged to the High Emporer, Lennox. We find that her father has been diverting the exile ships to hidden planets to experiment on the Draekon and if she told Lennox of what he has been doing would be the death of her father. Raiht’vi realizes that her father has been filling her head with lies all these years. She knows that the Draekons are more civilized than the scientists who studied them. She knows her father wants power which is why he arranged the marriage to the high emperor and she has heard rumors of his cruel streak as well.

There are now three groups of Draekons that have merged into one community. The batch of exiles headed by Arax, the batch that lived in the tree houses in the east so they could be safe from the crab like creatures that came out at night, and the rogues from that same batch that lived by the sea. The rogues left the tree house community because they were mid and low born and were sick of Herrix and Belfox who thought they were so superior because they were high born.

This was a nice little interlude in the lives of everyone in the community. Soldiers have finally landed on the planet and are searching for Raiht’vi and the human women.

I enjoyed the first part of this series, it was different from my normal reads...but these stories are redundant. I finished the series because it was on my to do list. Lol. It’s not a bad story, just really drawn out. I’m not sure why this needed to be a 7 book series. It probably would have gone over better as 1 or 2 books.

Slice of life, or revelation central?

This was a good book in that it helped move the main plot forward. I was worried it would just be a “here’s a cute baby” kind of thing, but it did more than that.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: gore, childbirth

Book 5.5, Exiled to the Prison Planet (A Prison Planet Slice of Life Novella). Endless possibilities captivate and enthrall!

SPOILER ALERT: DRAEKON DESTINY (BOOK 5 IN THIS SERIES) ABSOLUTELY MUST BE READ BEFORE THIS NOVELLA. WHILE THE BOOKS IN THIS SERIES MAY BE READ AS STANDALONES, IT IS RECOMMENDED THEY BE READ IN ORDER. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVEN'T AT LEAST READ DRAEKON DESTINY, THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS.

A human pregnant with a Draekon child. Exactly how does that work? That's the problem. No one knows. Harper's a maelstrom of emotions, both ecstatic and terrified over her child. Vulrux may be the medical expert, but he's never dealt with any birth, much less a human/Draekon one. Given that Harper now has three default states, ravenous, horny, and hormonal blubbering, Vulrux and Dennox are alternately overjoyed and panic-stricken. And as much as this child is a miracle, no one knows how long Harper will be pregnant, what her daughter will be, or what this child means for both human and Draekon alike. The old ongoing tensions still weigh on everyone. Raiht'vi's still missing. Then there's Gunnix. If ever there was an unknown factor, he's it. Add in hiding the remaining unassembled cloakship, the Zoraken scouring the planet for not just Raiht'vi, but the Draekons' underground home, the possibility those in the first cloakship may just have survived their escape attempt, and the very real fact Lennox may be lying in wait for anyone audacious enough to try escape, and a bubbling caldron of uncertainty lies waiting to go off like a powder keg. So many questions. So few answers. As Harper gives birth, everything else temporarily fades into the background. This precious child brings unprecedented hope. But for how long? There's so much no one on any side of this equation knows. Can Harper's child hold the answers? Is there truly a new beginning for these exiles? Or will this be the beginning of the end for the Draekons, their mates, their hopes, dreams, and new lives?

This story is absolutely beautiful! It's a very quick read and an absolute delight! While Harper, Vulrux, Dennox, and their little girl are front and center in this story, the other mated couples, particularly Viola, Arax, and Nyx, and Felicity, Luddox, and Xanthox, add mystery and drama too. When you throw in the unending machinations of Lennox, the Zoraken, Raiht'vi, Gunnix, and the hints of what's to come, along with the rest of the Draekon and human exiles, you have a signature Lee Savino and Lili Zander book. It's filled with intrigue, mystery, uncertainty of every kind, and especially the joy of family and unconditional love. Oh, and let's not forget the hot, steamy, sexiness that fills every one of these books (which is very unforgettable)! Ms. Savino and Ms. Zander have demonstrated over and over just how wonderful their paranormal/sci-fi writing is, and this novella is no different. I absolutely loved this story. Congratulations, Ms. Savino and Ms. Zander on another absolutely beautiful, intriguing, and heartwarming story. Daughter of Draekons deserves nothing less than five stars!

A final note. This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON'T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY THE BOOK. It's not fair to the authors. They work hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you'll object to a book's subject matter before you buy it, you're doing yourself and the authors an extreme disservice.

Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!

I’M LAUGHING AND CRYING AT THE SAME TIME

What a great addition to the Dragons in Exiled series when the very first baby is born between the triad of two dragon males and one human female. But this story has a secondary story in play that I am sure will have more to come very soon, and that is with the highborn scientist, Raih’vi, that was on the ship, Feret 1, transporting the human females to the planet Zorahn.

The plot will have Harper nearing the time of the birth of their daughter but with much trepidation, maybe more so that when pregnant with a human baby. Harper, fearing that her child will be a monster with a misshapen body with horns and scales. Then because gestation is different for human and Zorahn women, they cannot determine when the baby will be due. It will make timing it easier for the next woman, Felicity, when her time comes.

“All I need is for my baby to be healthy, and for both of us to survive. Once she’s born, I know we’ve got the support we need to live on the Prison Planet. We might just be okay.”

As the time arrives, contractions have started, and the birth is near, the typical questions are asked and answered. The birth will include her mates along with two humans, Sofia and Viola. A pledge will be made to the child from her parents.

“How long is this going to go on?”—Harper “As long as it takes. Babies come when they come. Soon you will hold your daughter in your arms.”—Vulrux

“Viola is here, and Sofia too. I lay my head back in relief. Two Draekons and two humans—that feels right. I want women to greet my daughter as she entered the world.”

“I have never seen anything so perfect.” Vulrux’s hand falls on my neck, stroking me. Dennox clears his throat. “All my life there is nothing I have done to lead to this joy. You’ve given us such a gift.” He leans down and kisses my brown. “Our strong, bold, beautiful mate.”

“As I live and breathe, you will never want for anything,” Dennox promises Kaida as she stares up at him. “We will make a better world for you,” Vulrux vows, stroking her soft cheek with a finger. My eyes prickle with tears, “Welcome,” I whisper, “Welcome to the word, daughter of Draekons.”

The story’s secondary story includes those that are searching for Raih’vi and sending ships from Zorahn looking for her. Several have crashed without survivors, but others have landed, and the search is on. Not only looking for Raih’vi but placing the lives of the humans and Draekons in danger. War is coming, the battle lines are being drawn, and Raih’vi is going to be a key player in which side has certain powers.

“A person’s ethics are not measured by what they do when the choices are easy. They’re measured by what they do when the choices are impossibly hard.”—Commander Cax.

My goodness, we must wait until June 2018 for Draekon Fever, the sixth book in the Dragons in Exile series. I feel like Veruca Salt from ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,’ “I WANT IT NOW!”

Daughter of Dreakons is a fun little short set in the Draekon Mates story universe. You definitely don't want to jump right in with this one, so start with Draekon Mate if you're new to the series. Return readers will adore this little slice into ever-changing life on the prison planet, baby shower and all. Sounds like showers for little dragon-human hybrids aren't all that different from the ones here on Earth. Check out this quote from the story:

Felicity grimaces. “I need to find a more comfortable bra,” she says. “My breasts are so sensitive right now.”
“I just go without,” I shrug. “I need one that makes me look bigger.” Bryce sticks out her chest and pretends to pout. “Can you help me with that?”
I snort. “Please. Every guy here would be happy to jump into bed with Sofia and you. We’re the boring mated ones. You two, on the other hand…”
Sofia’s cheeks go red.
“That’s what we really need to do…” Viola says, pausing for effect. “Teach her how to deal with two mates at once. Prison planet sex ed.”

This short story is a fun little peek into his life on the prison planet is going, and it moves the series storyline ahead too. If you're reading the series and can't wait for Draekon Fever, this one should tide you over for a while!

This is not a standalone. It is just a little look at the day-to-day life on the Prison Planet. You have to know all the characters and their stories for this to make any kind of sense. On the other hand, if you have read all the books, you will so love this little story because you get to check in on everyone.

Harper is very, very, very pregnant. She either wants food, tissues, or her mates. Oh how well I remember those days very well. But she has a worry that the rest of us don't, her child is the first human/Draekon hybrid and no one knows how long her pregnancy is going to last, what her daughter is going to look like, or anything else. Deep down, Harper is terrified, which only makes her every weepier.

Meanwhile, there are a lot of other things going on on the Prison Planet. And we get to check in on a lot of them, just to see what's going on.

I loved this little check-in. It was nice to see what's going on, and nice to see what the next generations of the population of the Prison Planet may look like. I can't wait for the next book so that I can see what's going to keep happening to our happy little group.

I truly like the concept of this series. It's different enough for me (someone who doesn't like romances or anything beyond that) to want to read. I think the writing and plot are really well done, and I haven't been able to put these books down (and wishing there was a toned down version or someone would strike the TMI bits) however...

...I did not like this novella at all. First it focuses on Harper, and I'm at the point where I really do not like her. Second, it's a prolonged novella about pregnancy which I think is extraordinarily boring. I hate when books or movies or tv shows fixate on a characters pregnancy as if it's the only thing that matters. I mean, yes first draekon-human spawn, yes I get highlighting the worry and anxiety, but I mean come on. It really could have been summed up in like a chapter (which is why it's a novella). I also don't like the hyper-stereotypical depiction of the women. It's getting old. And I get that it's romance, but I've enjoyed the differentiation of women as the series has gone on. This just seemed to undue it and basically go back. If it wasn't for knowing Bryce has a book coming up, I think I'd just stop the series.

Daughter of Draekons is a sweet, short little novella set in the prison planet and not intended to be a stand-alone. Here, we get to catch up on our favorite triads, and see how the ending of Harper’s pregnancy is going. While extremely nervous, she soon realizes she has the love and support of not just her mates, but her friends, too! But with the planet under threat, can everyone stay safe?

Aww, this book hit me with all of true feel-goods! I loved the representation of pregnancy thoughts, of the crazy hunger, the bathroom breaks, the hormones, and complete uncertainty. I also loved just getting light of the other characters, how the rest of the ladies are holding up, and even getting a few hints on what may be coming up in future books! While it wasn’t a long story, it sucked me in right from the very beginning and I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoy this series and can’t wait to read more!

This quick but very enjoyable story gives us our first peek at a Draekon/Human cross. Harper is about to give birth to Vulrux and Dennox's baby but is very worried about what it will turn out to be. Harper feels afraid that she may give birth to a monster and suffers insomnia and stress over the unknown. Her mates, Nox and Vulrux do their very best to reassure her and give her everything she desires. What Harper desires seems to be unstoppable hunger, weepiness and a very horny pregnant human at the end of her pregnancy. We worry along with her but hope for the best. The mates all do their best to keep each other happy and Harper in particular, comfortable and satisfied. I Loved the gift they made for all three of them, a great idea for an awkwardly pregnant woman who is always horny.
I loved Daughter of Draekons and so will you, I promise.

Fun series. A short story to catch you up without it cutting into a different character’s romance.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

By Lee Savino and Lili Zander
This is a closer look into the lives of the characters we have fallen in love with.
Harper is stressed and about to have her baby. Her Dragon mates, Dennox and Vulrux, are as supportive as any epective father.
This series is about one woman finding love In the arms of two men so if you do not like mfm, this is not the series for you. I recommend reading this series in order.

Harper is VERY PREGNANT and just can’t wait for this to be over. Vulrux and Dennox are excited but no one knows what the baby will look like. Then we have getting use to the new home that they found in the mountain. Everyone is settling in. The girls are finding things to do and having get together to gossip.
But there is also the missing scientist. She is wondering the lowland and needs to decide what to do.

I have to say with Harper being the first, we get find out what the baby will look like. And I love the name. It is fitting. And then we have May. My heart broke for her but her two guys give her hope. She deserves a baby just as much as all the others. I’m glad that new life is coming to the planet. I just hope that no war breaks out if and when they come for Raiht’vi.

Liked it

This isn't so much a story as a glimpse into what is going on in the lives of several of the characters from the previous books in the series. There's the impending parenthood, and the stress that goes along with it. There's also glimpses of other characters we haven't seen much before, like May. As well as setting the stage for the continuation of the series with the overarching plot. A cute short slice of life read.

*****Spoiler Alert*****
This Books Includes
Violence.
None, but mentions soldiers and briefly see crashed dead soldiers.
Sex. Sex swing, mfm sex, mf-bj, anal sex, pregnancies, birth, short discussion of inability to have children.

Don't miss out on this story!

We get a glimpse into several people's lives, including Harper, Viola, Olivia, May and Raiht’vi.
The exiles have been living in the mountain for several months and the High Emporer is still sending soldiers to find Raiht’vi.
This story is mostly about Harper and her mates as they all prepare for the birth of their daughter.
Nice short story that gives us more information as to what is happening in our character's lives, as well as an epilogue that answers questions and raises even more. Don't miss out on this story!

📚I am honestly and voluntarily reviewing a copy of this book📚
There are short books from Lee Savino and Lili Zander’s that feel like a special gift to readers......this is one of them!!!!! Harper and her mates Vulrux and Dennox are the first triad to have a baby, not sure about gestation period, race (human or Draekon), or any number of fears. What they do know is they love one another with a passion and will withstand whatever comes......sigh.... And I am even more intrigued with Raih’vi than before. I can’t wait for more!!!! Thanks ladies.

Wonderful update & checkin w/ the mated females on the prison planet

I would call this book 5.5, as it really should be read after 5, but before book 6. It is authored from the females point of view and is centered around the last of Harper's pregnancy, but contains an update from all of them. Plus it would contain spoilers if read in any other order.

This book contains the discussion of violence, a little adult language, and steamy menage intimate scenes. If any of these situations offend you, then this may not be the story for you.

Glad It's Not Me Having Babies!

This was a cute little book. Raiht'vi discloses that she has information that could get her and everyone on the planet killed. One thing I like about this series, is that, yes, there's lots of sex, but there's not a lot of push to get everyone preggers. A lot of the alpha male type books, there's lots of that, oh, baby, I want you round with my offspring. Not saying that's not hot sometimes too, but it's nice to see there's times of sensibility too.

I really am enjoying this series. In this addition to the series we get to read about the first of the Draekon babies being born. Harper, Dennox and Vulrax have welcomed the baby girl into the world. As the first, it was a very emotional moment. No one knew what to expect, but everything worked out the way it was supposed to. I am having a good time on the Prison Planet with the shipwrecked humans and the captive Draekons. I look forward to seeing what comes next. Especially considering Rakvi has reached out and the secret Draekons have made an appearance.

What a sweet and hopeful little Morsel from the prison planet.
Harper is the first mother to be.
No one knows how long a Draekon pregnancy lasts, what the little girl will look like, if she's going to be human or Draekon, or both.
So although everyone is happy for the new family, nerves and hormones run rampant. Even the two giant daddies get wobbly knees!
And then there is the elusive Scientist. She may be the bringer of hope, or total destruction!

This short story is more like a bonus read for those who have been following this series. If you are familiar with this series, don't start with this. It is essential you are at least familiar with the back story & the characters. This was a fun read that incorporated most of the existing characters but was much more about the impending birth than about the newborn, so the title is slightly misleading. If you're a fan of this series, this makes a lovely, light addition.

Lee Savino has let us go through the final stages of pregnancy when things are uncomfortable and everything makes you manic, whether it's laughing or crying, all the fears and what ifs and insecurities. What a joyous occasion when a birth is due.
This was a great addition of renewed hop in the middle of all the turmoil and chaos our Draekons are being faced with. It left me feeling god, even knowing the bad guys are still working the plot.

Short, but sweet story of the birth of the 1st half Draekon baby

This is a short story about the birth of the 1st half Draekon baby. I thought it would be all about Harper and her mates, since it is their baby, but it's really about everyone. It does have some sexy scenes, but it is more about the fears of a first-time mom -- and how her mates and all the others help her. The support she gets is really sweet.

Short but awesome. We get to experience Harper’s pregnancy through the final stages and the birth of her daughter. Along with that bit the book is revealing more information about the other Draekons. Others? Yes and I can’t wait for more. We catch up with one scientist still lost and one now missing. Great series, awesome characters and original story line. I just can’t get enough of this series.

This was a fantastic, easy, LOL read. I am kinda obsessed with this Draekon series and I loved getting this slice of their life. Their first baby. Harper and her mates are just like your average human parents - except for the dragon genes, oh & the sex swing to make her more comfy while pregnant. Smart move guys 😘 This one is not a standalone.

This is a very good sweet sexy story. Definitely lots of love. Both between the women and their mates and between the women who support eachother very well. I love all the well written different characters. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and I highly recommend it. A really good enjoyable family.
