Four months before the world ended, Melanie met Logan, the guy of her dreams. Too bad her younger sister’s drama screwed things up – again. Now, with most of the population dead and the future uncertain, Melanie isn’t sure what to think when he pops up. She’s level headed enough to know that romance can’t cure heartache or protect her from zombies, but that doesn’t mean it can’t help distract her from how horrible things are…
I'm a mom of four, Air Force wife, and author of adult and young adult dystopian, post-apocalyptic, and science fiction. I love intense world building and character driven stories that feature strong female leads - as well as a side of romance - and any end of the world scenario. Zombies, aliens, a distant future where people have no clue how the world ended in the first place, you name it, I will create a story there!
Having lived in a lot of different places after more than a decade as an Air Force wife, I love setting my books in cities I've actually lived in to give them authenticity. I've resided in: Indiana, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, California, and Oklahoma but am currently back in my home state of Ohio where I live with my husband, four kids, two dogs, and three cats.
When I'm not writing, you can find me by my pool (in the summer), getting lost in some binge-worthy show or at a play with my husband, patronizing one of the great restaurants in my small town of Troy, Ohio with my family, or traveling. I want to see everything and make a point of visiting a new place every year!
Some of my favorite books are The Hunger Games, Pride and Prejudice, The Host, and The Stand. My favorite movies are Aliens, Jaws, Signs, Say Anything, Everything Everywhere All At Once, and The Greatest Showman.

I think the reason I loved this one so much was because we got to see the transformation so vividly through the eyes of Melanie while seeking shelter from the virus. And also hearing the story of how her and Logan’s tale began 4 months before the virus struck and took away nearly everyone they loved. This was a great book.
I hate that I am nearly done with this series, with just one more to go. But I do hope that Mary keeps on with it. I have adored getting glimpses of the how the virus struck different people in different parts of the US.
Another intense read, SURVIVING THE STORM had my heart pumping and mind running. 5 Stars!

Surviving the Storm de Kate L. Mary Serie Zombie Apocalypse Love Story libro 6
Argumento:
I received this book via a free promo code and this is my voluntary review. A world ending virus??? A family secluded in Lockdown and the horror of losing people you love?? Yeah guess I'm a 2020 glutton for punishment but thankfully I do not have Melanies current Zombie problem. Logan is best man at her younger sister Tessa's wedding before disaster strikes and Ricky get cold feet, leaving his bride at the altar. 4 months later and its a horrid flu thats wiping out humanity... and reanimating them. Surviving losing her middle sister, and both of her parents.. Melanie is heading to the refugee centre with her younger sister Tessa when they run over a man with their car... Logan. Hero duty calls and he escorts them to the refugee centre... and then... ZOMBIES and a storms a-coming. Nakedness happens. I enjoyed this story.
Listened to this story on Audible. Narrator, Alexa Elmy, does a really good job. Nice tone to her voice. Quality performance and recording. Recommended!
This one is a short story told from Melanie's POV. Melanie meets Logan at her sister's wedding; both are attracted to the other, but things go from bad to very bad quickly. Doubts and zombies causing problems! After the wedding, some people start getting sick and dying, but there are those that don't stay dead. It's all very surprising for Melanie; she needs to decide what she's going to do to survive. Entertaining, quick zombie story with some lovely romance. Liked the chemistry between Melanie and Logan! The ending is a bit abrupt, but still a fun read. Mainly a romantic focus, but there's some fun action with zombies and a storm.
While I have read all the other books in this series, I have to admit that I was disappointed in this one. The others have me what felt like a well rounded story and this one, while I liked both Logan and Melanie I just didn’t feel the connection they had. I couldn’t feel the fear of what was happening and the terror when it came to running for their lives. I will read more from this author, this one just didn’t hit the spot that I was hoping it would. 3 stars because the plot was good and the characters were likable enough to have me read it in one quick sitting. Maybe if it had been more drawn out it would have click for me. #2OCCJD
Too much going on for a novella. It felt unfinished. I've really liked most of her novella apocalypse love stories (the first one I loved and still hold out hope that she'll finish it), but this one I could take or leave. I wish she would write full length romance in this world. We have so few authors that can write as well as she can writing this type of romance. But they can't all be to my taste, can they?
It was a decent read. I read it in one day. The story was easy to follow and the characters were mostly believable. The siblings were definitely believable. It has a good little romance in it. All in all of you are into quick zombie\romance books read this. If you want full on fire with your zombie this isn't for you.
Surviving the Storm (A Zombie Apocalypse Love Story Book 6) was a great read by Kate L. Mary. Melanie met the man of her dreams, Logan, four months before the world ended. But like always, her younger sister's drama screwed everything up. Most of the population is dead, and then Logan pops up again. I really enjoyed Melanie and Logan's story and can't wait to read more by the author.
Really good short story, 👌 characters were developed well and were entertaining. Plot flowed nicely too. Only complaint was that it wasn't a full length novel, really felt it had the potential to be fleshed out some more. Good job though nevertheless.
This is the story of Melanie & Logan. In love in the past, thrown together again during the Zombie Apoc, they get the chance to rediscover each other and move past old hurt.
I liked the story but it was just too short! I would have liked to hear what happened to her sister and Rick in the shelter and what happens next!! Still good!
