The voice was altered.

The painful truth was not.

Alex gets a call no parent should ever hear. It's a dagger to her heart. But she can't afford to stop.

Forced to carry out the wishes of the captors, Alex has to out-think new scum at every turn. It defiles her, but she'll do anything to get her daughter back. Will it work?

The treacherous journey is never-ending. Her life is threatened, but she brushes it off. The connection to her family member is still strong. But will she ever see her again?

An Amber Alert in San Antonio -- and Ivy Nash intercepts the assailant. But the story behind the story grabs her by the throat. Would a mother actually do such a thing, or is this simply a custody issue?

Two paths intersect, and neither Alex nor Ivy will back down. They must save the lives of these young girls.

The opioid crisis swallows people by the thousands. And those behind it slither around like snakes, using the addicted like they're animals on the end of a leash. Can anyone stop the cycle of abuse?

It all has to stop. One life at a time. One daughter at a time. Alex and Ivy will either succeed or die in the process.

Who will make it out alive?

But in the end, could there be one shining moment?

Get Back AT You now!

The Scoop
By now you're probably aware that the Alex Troutt thrillers, Ivy Nash thrillers, and the Ozzie Novak thrillers are all under the same Redemption Thriller Series umbrella. Why? Because, ultimately, they all connect -- Alex, Ivy, Ozzie. How? That's part of the mystery that I'm slowly unveiling throughout the Redemption Thriller Series.

Through each sub-series, characters from different books appear in the other novels. If it adds suspense, intrigue, or even a good laugh, I've included a cross-over character -- it's a lot more fun that way. Plus -- and here's the real kicker -- the final six novels will bring all of the major characters together -- Alex, Ivy, Ozzie. It will be explosive and gut-wrenching…in a way that will leave you breathless.

You will need to stop and breathe when you finish this story, because when you start to read and are drawn into the hell Alex is thrown into, then an Amber Alert that Ivy sees is the car right near her, you will not be able to put your book down for one second.. Alex receives that phone call no parent ever wants to hear, "we have your daughter, and want two million dollars..."
Alex has to take part in anything to save her daughter, Ivy gets the young girl away from her 'kidnapper', only to find it is the father. Different elements bring the two together, and the path crosses so they can assist each other. At a time when there is no one else available to help the women, they cover each other's backs.
The story has amazing plots that feed your imagination, with characters we now think of as friends. As I read I am sitting beside Alex as 'Carter' tells her what to do, I can feel the ties on my wrists and smell the sweat emanating off the evil man...
A brilliant addition to the Redemption Thrillers, books that take us on amazing adventures with people we feel we know. The surprises in this story are outstanding, I was trying to figure something out, thought I had it, but whoa..Not Quite!!!
I received an ARC of this story from author John Mefford, a man I gratefully thank for taking me on so many thrilling rides! My review can hopefully catch your eye, so more readers can find these amazing books. I highly recommend this book to all readers of suspense, mystery, and thrillers. A BIG 5 star story!!

Alex Trout Thriller #9

Redemption Thriller #21

John W. Mefford writes stories with such intensity and to the edge of your seat suspense it is very hard not to be deeply captivated following his protagonist in her mission. Alex Trout is the main character here although Mr. Mefford smoothly weaves in Ivy Nash, the main player, in the Ivy Nash series. “Back at You” brings together two very exciting badass females in journeys that only they can face.

There are two separate threads to follow for most of the thriller till the two paths intersects near the end. Thread one: Alex is at the forefront and in thread two Ivy takes center stage. Both stories are told in alternating chapters and cover the same subject:

What every parent dreads: the abduction of a child.

Alex gets the call and is forced to carry out the wished of the captors. As we follow her on her treacherous journey we are kept on the edge of our seat, adrenaline pumping following her every move. Alex is threatened at every turn and faces one hurdle after the other…even a gun pointed at her face…

While in San Antonio an Amber Alert is set off. Ivy springs into action and is soon on the trail of the assailant trying to find the missing girl. The tension is so palpable following her every move and to see how she tackles the many difficulties thrown her way, no doubts this made for one exciting read.

Alex and Ivy finally met and everything meshed beautifully by the end ….I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough to see if both would succeed…of course they did.

What a roller-coaster ride….well-done …. of course M. Mefford's books are right up my alley..

Wow! I cannot begin to explain how much I enjoyed this book. I have followed the Redemption series from the start and I have enjoyed all the books in the series thus far. However, if I had to choose a favorite Back at You would win hands down. This installment took me on a journey that was not only intense but also emotional, suspenseful and action packed.

I always admired Alex in her role as both a mother and an FBI agent. This installment highlighted how serious she took her role as a Mom. It could not have been easy for when she received a call that would plunge her into her worst nightmare ever. Because of that call she found herself in a race against time. To rescue her, she was plunged into a world of child prostitution and drug dealing.

Alex's fear and pain leapt off the pages. As an FBI agent, situations like these are the norm but as a mother, it is the scariest situation to face.

This installment reunited fans with Ivy Nash. Once again, I was thrown back into Ivy’s world. Ivy finds herself in the middle of an apparent case of kidnapping. Not one to turn her back on a child in need she immediately took it upon herself to investigate. As she gets deeper into the investigation, she discovers there is more to this kidnapping case. As the story develops, we see how Alex's situation connects with Ivy's case. They will both work together to break up the prostitution and drug ring.

This installment reminded me why she was one of my favorite heroines. Calm in the face of trouble, a quick thinker, relentless and cares deeply about children and her friends.

Back at You is a well written, action-packed and suspenseful story, which featured an awesome, cast of characters. The author's writing style sided in pulling me in to the story. The description of the different scenes and characters made me feel as if I were actually a part of the story.

The story wrapped up quite well. The story ended on an emotional note, which was fitting given the circumstances. It also set the pace for the start of the next book in the series.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Fans of mysteries thrillers will enjoy this latest book in the Redemption series. Although each case is different, it would be best to read the series in order, to better appreciate the development of the characters throughout the series.

First, let me say that I am glad that John Mefford addressed the Opioid crisis in this latest Alex Troutt thriller. Mefford is no stranger to addressing modern day issues in his writing, but I was not expecting this!

In this action packed page turner, Alex Troutt's daughter, Erin, and her friend, Becca, are kidnapped. Alex has to across the country to Las Vegas with the ransom to rescue them, only to get to that point and meet further demands from the kidnappers. Oh, and she cannot tell anyone and has to leave immediately. In a seemingly unrelated event, Ivy Nash encounters a man kidnapping his own daughter to keep her safe. He tells Ivy about his older daughter that his wife traded for drugs. Through circumstances, Ivy and Alex join forces to rescue these endangered girls, bring down a drug ring and disrupt human trafficking operations.

They cannot do it all without a little help from their friends, which is where Ozzie Novak comes in.....

There are so many twists and turns, dark places and dangerous alley ways, scares and breathtaking moments. I can't tell you too much! You have to read it - it's by far the most exciting of the Redemption Thriller Series, bringing all three of the major characters together. Yes, as always, you can read it without having ever read any of the other books - but why? Read them all. You will not regret it.

**I received this book free of charge in exchange for my honest review

From the start of the Redemption Thriller Series, I have loved the fact that John W Mefford has three main characters who all appear in their own books but also appear in each others' books. Back AT You would ostensibly be an Alex Troutt book from the title. Ivy Nash appears in it a good bit and, believe it or not, so does Ozzie Novak. There are all three of these people in one book.

Back AT You started slow for me. You would think a book that starts with a call saying you have to do what we say as we have your daughter and her friend would be  quick enough for me but I had trouble getting into the book. It took most of the first chapter to reel me in but once Mefford did so, I couldn't put the book down.

If you love mysteries and thrillers, Back AT You will have you on the edge of your seat as you read of all Alex has to go through to find her daughter. Pick up a copy today and delve into a mystery I couldn't figure out until Mefford revealed it. I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.

Back AT You will send you on a whirlwind of drama, suspense, and downright fear. Within the first few pages, I felt completely absorbed into the action. My heart beat faster, hair stood on end, chills ran up and down my spine, and I jumped at every sound! The entire Redemption series has hooked me deeper into an addiction with each character and story line while questioning how everything could be connected. Alex is drug, kicking and screaming, right into the depths of her greatest fears when she learns of the kidnapping of her daughter and friend. It drags her into a dark rabbit hole that I feared no return from -- but, oh! The twists and turns!! With the stories we hear on the news about drugs and human trafficking, it's easy to fall into the fear that Alex feels. John W Mefford takes a gritty, dark story and makes it hug you tight - so tight that you simply can't put it down until the last word!

I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.

This one had me praying that Alex could find her daughter and her daughter's friend-ALIVE. I had a very hard time getting my mind around the fact anyone--addict or not could allow this to happen to their children. Ivy Nash gets involved when an amber alert is sent out for another child and she spots the car! Alex goes to help Ivy even after the absolutely harrowing experience she and her daughter just went through. Luckily the daughter recognizes the pic of the girl so they have a starting point. They ultimately find her--but you will never guess with who!!

This book grabbed me by the throat on the first couple of pages, and didn't let go until long after I finished reading it! Alex is desperate to find her daughter, and will do anything she needs to rescue her daughter.

Ivy saves a girl from an Amber Alert, but is she really saving her? Or did she hand her to an unimaginable horror? The two have to fight to survive, but can they?

I love how the story lines keep converging in this series, and I can't wait to read more!

Talk about a nail biter! If you are a parent or an aunt or have any kind of important children in your life, then this book will have your attention from the very beginning! I felt like I could feel the terror Alex must have experienced when she received that nightmarish phone call from kidnappers regarding her daughter. The twists in this book  are astounding. I am still in awe of the ending, and am positive the next book will have me just as spellbound.

We are nearing the end of this series and Back AT You will have you on the edge of your seat from the get go, I literally read this in a few hours and now I am twiddling my thumbs patiently waiting on the next book.

Alex is once again pushed to her very limits, how this woman isn't broken I don't know, but I did think it was going to happen in this book. She received a call that no mother ever wants to get - do as we say or your daughter dies....!! Faced with having to go it alone in search of her daughter Alex becomes the raging bull she is as she tries to get to get to her daughter, this is really the test of Alex's endurance and everything she has to endure.

Meanwhile Ivy gets a call about a missing girl and crosses paths with Alex, together they find out some unspeakable things a mother did in order to pay off a drug debt, whilst connecting the dots of how the two woman "case's" are connected.

Seriously, this is a brilliant series and I really don't want to it to end, Mefford has created characters that you really connect with and story lines that suck you in.

A gut clinching and twisting thriller!

Back AT You is the 9th installment in the Alex Troutt Thriller series. A detailed packed thrill with a new adventure that you don’t want to miss. The plot surges forward, pulling you along as you turn the pages a mile a minute. It promises to keep readers up reading into the night. Mefford’s writing is smooth, absorbing and always interesting. There is enough surprise twists and turns to satisfy any heebie-jeebie enthusiast. Mefford’s skill in plotting drama and crime that can turn on a dime is as sharp here as in his previous works. The characters are well developed with a crisp dialogue that moves the story smartly along. Back AT You will keep fans happy while showing he is one of the masters of crime suspense.

Back AT You is a fantastic story that is gut clinching as you watch the events of the kidnapping. Not only does it have a kidnapping that will keep you wondering what will happen, you also get insight into a prostitution-selling ring. While trying to her save her daughter and daughter’s friend, Alex has to fight for her life and bring down the ring that is endangering many girls’ lives. You never know what Alex will have to do next or what she will face while on this journey. There are so many twists in the story that you will not know what to expect next.

Once again, Mefford does not disappoint! John W Mefford knows how to bring a story to life, give you a thrill and keep your attention. He is a very talented writer that I have come to enjoy and look forward to what he comes up with next. John does a great job of intertwining the characters from his different series. This author is definitely high up on my go-to author list. It is hard to go wrong with a John Mefford book and Back AT You is one of those that will keep you up late at night, seeking to read just one more chapter. Mefford combines mystery, crime, humor, and drama for a compelling crime thriller.

FBI Agent Alex Troutt’s daughter, Erin, has been kidnapped and the kidnappers are asking for millions of dollars to return both Erin and her best friend, Becca to her. Apparently, both girls were abducted while they were on vacation with Becca’s family, the Faulks, in Las Vegas. Alex only has one thing to do and that is to transport drugs in a car from LA to Vegas. This goes against everything she has worked for in her career to prevent. What would she do to get her daughter and her friend back, before something horrendous happens to both girls? They could be drugged and sold as sex slaves. She had to do everything possible to prevent this, even if it meant breaking the law herself. Why were these two young girls targeted out of all the other women roaming around the hotel? What will the girls see and experience, before she can get to them? What happens to her, while she’s transporting the dangerous drugs across the states? Will she be able to get both girls back home? What does the dangerous drug, Fentanyl have to do with any of this? Is it somehow tied together with a sex slave prostitution ring? I enjoyed the plot in this book, since the other law enforcement individuals Alex has worked with in the past teamed up with her to help her find the girls. Alex eventually meets Ivy Nash, who she has worked on a few cases with. Ivy also needs Alex’s help to solve an amber alert case. Could the two cases be tied together in some strange way? The character development was great. The reader could relate to what each character was going through. The scenes were very vivid in this book. The ending was definitely not what I expected. What a surprise ending. Things are not always as they seem!! Looking forward to the next adventure of FBI Special Agent Alex Troutt.

Wow, what a read, several times I have said that John Mefford has written the best book in the series, and that was correct at the time, but then, time and time again he tops what he has written before, and once more I find myself saying that this is the best book in the series (so far, until he writes a better one!)
There are two stories here, Alex 's daughter is abducted and she is forced to endure a complicated race across America to retrieve a parcel for the kidnappers, and Ivy Nash (from one of the other subseries of the Redemption series) is called in to rescue a girl from a kidnapper, only to find that the kidnapper is the girl's father, and that there is concern for the older daughter who is missing.
The tension and excitement are almost literally breathtaking right from the start and the terror felt by the various characters jumps off the page at you. As always the action scenes are portrayed in 3D Technicolour detail, and the author isn't shy about highlighting the problems and damage that drugs and child prostitution cause.
The ending brings in the the third character from the Redemption series, Ozzie Novak but as part of a huge twist in the tail that I really didn't see coming.
Once again I received an advance copy of the book from the author, who I can't thank enough for providing me with hours of thrills, spills and entertainment. The review is my honest opinion and voluntarily written, anything to try and bring these books to the attention of as many people as possible.

I’m beginning to sound like a broken record but I can’t help it. John W. Mefford is an awesome author and has done it again with Back At You. Another book that you can’t put down because it’s that good. This is in the Alex Troutt series and what I really like is how he brings in characters from some of his other books into this series.

Alex Troutt has become my hero. She is a strong, smart women that can stand on her own to any bad guy. In this story, she gets a call that her daughter, Erin, has been kidnaped along with her friend. Erin went with the Faulk family to Las Vegas for a little vacation. The kidnappers want Alex to come to Las Vegas to get her daughter back. Turns out the kidnappers want to use Alex as a drug runner and that’s the only way she’ll get her daughter back. Along the way she goes through some tough times that would make any man fear for his life. Then just as she gets her daughter back, she is asked to stay and try to find another young girl, Angel, who was sold by her mother for drugs. Ivy Nash (from the Ivy Nash series) is the one trying to find Angel and with Alex’s help, nothing with stop them. In the story it speaks about the opioid epidemic along with selling of you girls. The author writes so believable that you know this could really happen. The best part is the ending which will totally take you by surprise. I didn’t see it coming and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

This episode pairs Alex and Ivy in search of a missing teen. But it is so much more. On page one, Alex gets a heart-wrenching phone call that her daughter, Erin, has been kidnapped in Las Vegas while there with her friend, Becca, and her parents. Then another call comes that Becca had also been kidnapped. The voice-altered caller tells Alex that she must complete an unknown task if she wants to ever see the girls again. So off she goes to Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Ivy becomes involved with the family of a missing 15 year old and learns she has been sold to drug dealers in Las Vegas. So off to Vegas she goes. In attempting to follow the directions of the kidnappers, Alex encounters one hair-raising obstacle after another. Of course, Alex and Ivy finally get together and continue their search not knowing if the cases are connected. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, wanting to keep reading and reading and reading. When I got to the end I was literally holding my breath and could not believe the huge surprise at the end! This book definitely does not disappoint--read with anticipation!

"This was Vegas ... No rules, apparently."
I am an admitted fan of John Mefford's writings, and the Alex Troutt stories within the Redemption series in particular. But Back at You surpasses the others, and both Ivy and Ozzie play their parts in it, too. With a pleasing addition at the conclusion.
After the destruction of their home in a preceding story, FBI agents Alex and Brad were househunting when the phone call is received - kidnappers have her teenage daughter, Erin, and two million dollars is demanded for her return. A simultaneous call to the parents of Erin's friend, Becca, confirm that she has been taken as well. The girls had been together on a fun trip to Las Vegas.
The hunt is on to get them back, and alive.

With his usual story telling skill, visual with minimal description, and excellent characterisation, Mr.Mefford unfolds an intriguing and past paced thriller, full of familiar players, family closeness and, yes, even humour. Possibly the best in the series so far: unmissable.

Alex Troutt and Ivy Nash in this Redemption Thriller Series team up and go after the bad dudes who thought they could mess with the child of a MOTHER. Oops...that is a NO CAN DO in Alex and Ivy’s book. Alex’s daughter is kidnapped...from there it is all down hill for the bad guys. Guess they did not get the memo that NO ONE messes with a Mother’s child...EVER. Alex and Ivy are formidable as individual’s but when they teamed up in this book it was all out war for the bad dudes. Action packed, suspenseful, and definitely a page turner. John W. Mefford’s writhing grabs the reader and never lets go until the last words on the last page of ANY book, but especially this one!! I highly recommend Back AT You. I am so impressed with John W. Mefford’s accomplished skills at writing and I can hardly wait for the next installment. Please don’t end this series Mr. Mefford...Let this series continue forever. Wonderful characters. Always a great plot! Always the twists and turns that send the reader headed into action packed surprises and a satiated feeling at the end...has it ALL!!

My emotions went every which way

Alex and Ivy have never met and are working two delegate cases dear to their hearts but the two cases merge and they meet in one heck of a setting where Alex swoops in to save the day.

This story has it all. There is an epic love scene which I had been hoping for during several books now and man did this story deliver at the end. The heartbreak and actions that Alex take show the true depth of a mother’s love while the actions done to Angel and Becca show some of the worst betrayals done to a child. Director Holt has a more visible role and it is the first time I really liked his character.

This is the most non stop and interwoven story so far in this series because it answers a lot of questions and ties in all of the characters from all of the books. The ending was picture perfect and the cliffhanger has me excited for the next adventure.

We have your child and you need to do what we say. Every parents worst nightmare, even if you are an hotshot FBI agent. Alex is petrified! She has to hot foot it to Las Vegas for the kidnappers and jump through all of their hoops. Simultaneously Ivy Nash is dealing with an Amber Alert in San Antonio. This story deals with human trafficking and is very disturbing. Knowing that it is a real problem and not just a story makes it even worse. But Mr. Mefford handles all of these scenarios brilliantly, as usual. We get a majority of the players(Alex, Ivy & Ozzie) together in this book and maybe soon we will get all of them in one. This was quite a thrilling, heart-pounding, heart stopping, emotional ride so get ready to hang on!

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Alex Troutt had just received a call informing her that her teenaged daughter Erin had been kidnapped while in Vegas. Alex was prepared to do whatever it took to get Erin back. And before it’s over with, she probably will. Meanwhile Ivy Nash is on the trail of a teenager who’s missing, and may even be dead. And where does the trail lead? Vegas, of course.

Alex Troutt and Ivy Nash together. Now that’s a power team for sure. I was wondering when they would finally meet and it was everything I hoped for. I’m loving how all the characters in the Redemption series are coming together. Every story has been an edge of your seat thriller. I don’t know how Mefford continues to create stories that get better and better as they go. He even continues each story seamlessly.

Now this is what I am talking about. Back AT You took us back to the edge of your seat intensity and suspense that I love so much about John W. Mefford's writing.

Back AT You didn't include one of my favorites - Ozzie - but did team up our two heroine's with action, suspense, mystery and a shocker like no other.

I really enjoyed this installment and could not put it down.

The ending left me on the edge of my seat wondering what is in store next and I cannot wait to continue this series.

Each one gets better and this one definitely tops them.

I look forward to continuing my journey with Alex and seeing what happens next.

I was lucky enough to receive an arc copy of this book. It is really easy to write an honest review. John has done it again, I love it! Lots of drama, lots of twists and turns to keep you wanting more. I love that he brings Alex and Ivy together this time. It is a story of a parent’s worst nightmare . No parent wants to hear “we have your daughter”. The story delves into the world of drugs which sadly is prevalent in our society today. John does a great job of relating to us how Alex feels in her terrifying search for her daughter. A wonderful read, I recommend this series!!

FANTASTIC! Make sure you clear your evening when you start this book because once you start you won’t put it down. The phone call that changes Alex’s life to Ivy Nash responding to an Amber Alert will keep you turning pages until the breathless conclusion.these 2 are a fabulous team and a force to be reckoned with. I love the way all 3 characters are starting to join up even though Ozzie Novak didn’t play a huge part in this story John has set us up well for the next book. I can tell it will be a whirlwind of suspenseful twists and turns. Congrats John well done! 👍

This story starts with Alex getting a call from kidnappers.....they have her daughter and she MUST follow their instructions or else! While in San Antonio, Ivy finds a girl who is on an Amber alert. The kidnapper is her own father! Two different situations intertwine as on John Mefford can do with his stories! You won't want to miss out on this heart stopping story with Alex Troutt and Ivy Nash! There is more to the story, but you will need to read this gripping book to find out what it is. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I absolutely LOVE the redemption series, but this may just be my favorite book yet. Alex and Ivy are two very passionate, determined women, and when it comes to saving the innocent, they'll stop at nothing, whether its family or a little girl caught up in evil. It's a race against the clock and some of the evilest persons either has ever faced as they try to rescue the girls before its too late. Not even threats to their lives will stop these everyday heroes from pursuing the villains.

Awesome Thriller!!

This book was a good thriller. At first I didn't want to go back and forth with Ivy and Alex's life. I would get so involved in Alex's life that I was so disappointed that I would have to switch to Ivy's life and vice versa but I realized there would be a connection between the two sooner or later. I liked that the author answered all the questions that I had as I was reading. I chose rating because if I find a book that I can't put down because l want to know what is going on their lives it is a good book. l couldn't put it down

This book was so enjoyable from the first page I got drawn in. I did not want to put it down. This book was emotional, action packed, suspenseful and intense. I don’t know how John does it but each book is better and more suspenseful than the last. You feel like you are feeling everything the characters are feeling the descriptions are so vivid. This book will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. I can hardly wait for the next installment. If you have never read John W Mefford run not walk to buy his books you will be glad you did.

A great job of weaving multiple story lines together as now we have Ivy Nash and Alex Troutt sharing a story together. Misdirection and unexpected outcomes throughout as the two ladies race to save young girls and find their lives on the line at times as well. Mefford isn't scared to get rid of characters so every time danger comes up you don't know if the series is about to end! Always entertaining and hard to put down books in the series.

Another unexpected turn of events. This series really is amazing. Each and every story is able to keep you involved and the tension and suspense keep you on the edge of your seat. Alex is back with another thriller and more action. You know, I would love to see these stories as movies. I think they would be terrific. I highly recommend this book because the stories are well-written and the characters are interesting and well-developed.

What Hapoens in Vegas

Alex is sucked into a trafficking nightmare when her daughter and the daughter's friend are kidnapped. She uses her wits and skills to get them back. Joining forces with an intrepid investigator she is determined to get justice.

Despite the silly premise this is a pretty good read Hard to believe that Alex would nit reach out to the FBI. Entertaining as long as it is not scrutinized.
