Rush was a promising start to a new series. It takes place against the back drop of the Alabama shore and beaches of the Gulf of Mexico in a Spring Breaker type of town off season. Lauren and her best friend, Marcy, have travelled down from Michigan to the beach town to stay at Marcy's grandmother's house to get away from the problems and decisions that plague Lauren back home and take it easy.

Vance is the local hot guy, as in Hot with a capital T. He's definitely the alpha of his group and runs a shop on the beach and lives for the ocean. The other thing he lives for is revenge against his father, Marcus, who is evil personified. Amongst the tranquility and beauty of the sand and surf, lies danger. Girls are simply not safe in this town. Human trafficking is prevalent but hidden. And Marcus is the ringleader. Vance finds himself in a position he hasn't encountered before, being torn between bringing his father down or protecting Lauren, the girl he's quickly fallen for.

The story is New Adult so it's a little different for me. Nothing is quite as severe or intense as in the same themes in a more adult version. That being said, it's an engaging book none the less. Lauren is a sweetheart and it's easy to see how one would love her. Vance is in a tough position, torn but caring, protective and ultimately a good guy having to do dirty work. And Marcus reeks of everything that's nasty in this world. I flew through this book and loved the main characters. Interested to see if the second book can be as simple but concise and complex as the first.

This is my first book from this author and I can honestly say that I really liked this a lot. I found myself glued to this story from the beginning to the very end. I can’t wait for book 2 to see what happens next with Vance and Lauren.

Lauren is running away from problems at home, but she's not running away in the true sense of the word she is going with her BBF, Marcy, to her YaYa's house on the beach in order to clear her head of a few things. Honestly I was really pissed at her when I found out that she has a man at home that is in love with her and wants her to move in with him but she doesn't know how she feels about it, talk about stringing the poor guy along...and get this it's her BBF's cousin! YIKES as if that won't make things awkward, and not for nothing I kinda liked Colby, he was really nice to her and dropped everything when she needed him for whatever reason, most women would kill to have a man like that in their lives but hey Lauren is only nineteen.

Now Vance, at first I didn't know what to make of him. He was a bad guy trying to do good but had to do bad in order to do the good that needed to be done....did that make any kind of sense? Yes, well okay then. It took me a little while to warm up to him but once I understood what he was all about I was all for him getting the girl he wanted even if it was Lauren, can you tell I still haven't warmed up to her, but his father the real monster of it all has other plans for him....well for both of them I guess.

This story had a slow start for me which was fine it gave me time to get to know each of the key players as well as the people surrounding them and let me tell you there is one person, Tucker, well lets just say that I hope he gets what is coming to him because I can totally see him as being Marcus' right hand man and not Vance.

Brooke Page is a new to me author and I know for a fact that this will not be the last of her books I read, and that's not only because this book left us with a cliffhanger. I enjoyed her writing style and the fact that she's not afraid to tackle tough story lines like this one, human sex trafficking. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good romantic suspense, but remember it does leave you with a cliffhanger and book two Resist won't be available until October 5th. Happy Reading!!!

Oh where to start. This is a fantastic read I couldn’t put it down and wanted to scream “NO!” at the end of this first book in the Riptide series, what a cliffhanger. Brooke’s style of writing just keeps you wanting more. The characters are believable. With their owe venerable traits.
Lauren just wants to get away! Her best friend Marcy’s cousin who is special to her asked her to move in with him. And she didn’t know what to say she loved Colby but wasn’t in love with him. So Lauren and Marcy jump in the car and head for YaYa. Marcy nan.
On a walk on the beach, Marcy and Lauren meet Colt, Tucker and Vance. Marcy and Colt quickly turn up the heat. Lauren can’t take her eyes off Vance. Her body wakens.
But there was something the girl didn’t know.
The lads were actively lurking women. Selling them off in the human trafficking racket. Vance dad Marcus wants a “Dove” someone pure and he has his eyes set on Lauren. Will Vance come up with a plan to save Lauren? Will Vance listen to his body and be with Lauren? Omg this book really keeps you on the edge of the seat! A brilliant read!
I received an ARC and now I leave my honest review.

This book opens with Vance making a deal to work from the inside to bring down his father's human trafficking ring. In order to do so, Vance has to do some really despicable things, and is out looking for the "Dove", the perfect, innocent, woman his father wants. Vance has to constantly remind himself why he is doing this, as his actions weigh heavy on his conscience. Then he meets Lauren, the perfect "Dove", only he cannot allow his father to have her. How does Vance protect Lauren, while continuing with his goal of bringing his father down? Definitely worth reading to find out! And yes, it does end on a cliffhanger, but please don't let that dissuade you from reading Rush now...

Omg from the first page to the last you just had to Wonder how was Vance going to go through with the inevitable to bring his father down. Riley the FBI agent to whom Vance signed a deal to bring his father and his team of sex traffickers down. Night after night Vance along with two others were on the hunt to bring girls in..... Until he met up with the one woman he had no business being around or catching feelings for. Lauren a young troubled girl visiting her friends grandmother on the beaches of Alabama came face to face with a kite surfer in which made her tremble. With everything Lauren has been through taking care of an addicted mother and trying to make ends meet. She is young and pure and needs to not be seen by Vance’s father Marcus but that fails and now she is on Marcus radar to become his DOVE..... So grab your copy and enjoy this read as I have and patiently wait for BOOK 2.

WOW!!! hold on for one crazy ride with Rush!!
Brooke Page knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat with her angst filled stories that you devour!!
Vance and Lauren.......... SIGH......... Both damaged from their upbringing they find solace when they least expect it with one another.. but demons are always lurking and strike when you least expect them to.

Rush is the first book in this series and I couldn't put it down. The story of Vance and Lauren is very heartfelt. Lauren is a nineteen year old girl trying to figure out her life. Her and her best friend Marcy travel to The Shore in Alabama so she can try to figure out her future. She needs a break from her crappy life. Vance is a man trying to get revenge for his mother's murder. This father, Marcus, is the man who was behind that. Vance is working with the FBI to bring him down but Marcus wants Lauren as a Dove for his trafficking ring. Vance will protect her because he couldn't his mother. I can't wait for book two, Resist.

Holy moly!!! That end had me in shatters, I really need the second book asap.

Both Lauren and Vance, our main characters, are so mature for their age. With moms as addicts and ugly pasts they were forced to grow up faster than other children their age. It shocked me how humble Lauren is and always putting her mother first even if the "favor" was never returned. At this stage she needed but also didn't need Vance in her life. But at the same time they are so good together!!

In the first book we get to see how Lauren and Vance get to know each other, fighting their attraction at first but finally giving in. This always with danger lurking around the corner. We have a constant fear that something will happen so this thrill and adrenaline combined with sweet characters and young love are the ingredients to a good start for this story. I can't wait to see what book 2 will bring!

This book was so Amazing!! I was a little apprehensive at first because this book does deal with a really serious and dark topic but I thought it was really good! Vance and Lauren are everything!! I love them so much!! Their relationship is so sweet, even with the darkness all around it. This story is dark and passionate and so amazing!!

Vance is working with the FBI to help bring his dad and his entire empire down. First he has to find a Dove. The perfect girl to send into his dad's dark world. It will not be easy and the girl will get hurt but Vance has to find someone if he wants to take his father down. That's when he meets Lauren. She is the perfect fit for a dove but he can't bring himself to involve her in his dark plans. They have a connection one Vance never asked for or even thought he could ever have. He has to protect Lauren and the only way to do it is to keep her close!

Lauren is just a girl running from her life. She needs a break so she grabs her best friend Marcy and the go down to the one place she feels free. That's were she meets Vance! He is dark and mysterious and she isn't looking to get involved with anyone but he intrigues her. The more she spends time with him the more she starts to feel things she has never felt before. Vance makes me feel alive and sexy. She loves spending time with him and getting to know more about him!!!

This book is absolutely amazing!! I Loved every minute of it!!! It is dark but Vance and Lauren bring so much light to it!! I am seriously obsessed with them!! I'm so excited to read book two "Resist" I can not get enough of these two and this world!!!!

4 1/2 Stars!

Lauren runs away from her life, mainly her addicted mother, with her best friend (Macey) to the only place she has ever felt safe - Macey's grandmothers house. She's not ready for a relationship, so she is shocked when she meets Vance and instantly feels the pull toward him. Vance is not a good guy ... he's trying to be, but his father doesn't make it easy. His father's business is to lure lost girls into becoming whores or his special "dove" and he wants Vance to follow in his footsteps. But Vance hates his father and is working with the FBI to bring him down, all he has to do is find a "dove" as bait to catch him in the act. He knows that Lauren would make the perfect "dove", but he also feels the attraction between them and is conflicted.

This story just pulled me in and I couldn't stop reading till it was done ... only to find a cliffhanger! I could feel the turmoil in Vance ... he wants to get back at his father, but he doesn't want Lauren to be involved in any way. This is a very touchy subject - human trafficking - and I had a hard time liking Vance at first because of it, but Ms Page did a good job of making the bad guy look good. I can just tell that Ms Page has more secrets for these two that will come out in the books to follow. A great start to this new series.

I graciously received an ARC courtesy of the author in exchange for a honest review.

There is a time when a author enters your world and breaks every barrier of your soul and completely devours you with their words. Brooke has giving a a devastatingly haunting tale that has you head first into the world of human trafficking. Vance is man that has been raised in the world of all things evil(drugs, guns, and human trafficking) the monster in his world is his father, Marcus. After everything his father has done to him nothing compares to losing his mother. Now Vance only seeks vengeance for his mother and the only way that is to find a Dove. A Dove, a girl he must bring into his world to trade for his father's evil games. Every part of Vance's world should make you fear him but when Lauren enters his world everything changes. He knows she's a Dove but he doesn't want to break her or give her up, he wants to feel and be more for her. Lauren isn't shelter from the evils of the world. She has seen evil man and what drugs do to the soul and a person you love. Just looking to escape for a little bit from her world she run to the beach and right into Vance world....but she doesn't know it. My heart stop Everytime I felt this tale would twist and turn with all heat, love, and the evilness experience by these two. And this is only book 1 people, OMG I need book 2 Resist.
Thanks Brooke for breaking me and wanting more.

It's okay- the pace, the plot, the way everyone puts themselves (and others) in compromised situations...

It's written well enough, not too many typos. Most of the characters are easy to sympathize with, the pace is kinda slow, but sort of picks up towards the end...and I can see how some people read this, then jump right into the next after hitting the cliffhanger...but I just wasn't one of them.
An addict that doesn't want sobriety- only uses the people that support them financially as enablers. I couldn't understand how the main character still kept cash "stashed away" in their apartment. No banks nearby? She also didn't see how living with her mother put herself in danger too. Plan on relying on the mercy of her mother's johns forever? The romantic interest wasn't wearing a wire- instead of keeping her in the dark and putting her in jeopardy...he could've been open with her? As a precaution, and as a way not to lose her if the sting didn't go as planned. The cavalier way people handled their own safety (not to mention taking advantage of her friend back home) just annoyed me. But if you like throwing caution to the wind, never understanding the gravity of your situation, putting yourself and others in dangerous situations, and the list goes on....enjoy the victim complex every adult in this book seems to have. Cheers! This is the book for you.

This book had me hooked!

Nineteen year-old Lauren is going on a road trip with her friend Marcy, to get away from her life for a while. A life which involves looking after her Mum, working in a job that she does to get by and hanging out with a man that’s in love with her….but whose love she doesn’t return…..

They stay at Marcy’s Grandmothers house and not long after arriving meet some local young men. Lauren is completely drawn to one of them….but YaYa (Marcy’s Grandmother) warns Vance off her. But will he listen? And will Lauren be able to stay away? Vance is dangerous, and he knows that by getting close to her he could be setting dangerous wheels in motion……

This is so well written and thoroughly enjoyable. The characters are brilliant, you either love them or hate them and they really draw out certain emotions in you…..at points I wanted to shout at both Lauren and Vance!! It’s so exciting to watch the storyline unfold, and it genuinely keeps you on the edge of your seat….will he/won’t he? And the ending……a cliffhanger that left me really wanting to read book 2 now!! Definitely recommended be me!

Reader warning: there are themes of human trafficking in this, and also some detailed sexual scenes.

There is so much to this story it's hard to know where to begin. You've got Lauren who is running from the stress of taking care of her drug-addicted mother who uses sex (and putting herself in situations where she is abused) to get money to pay bills and get more drugs. She goes with her best friend, Marcy, to the grandmother's house. There they meet Vance - someone with a dark past and very evil father - someone who is into the human sex trafficking business, among other things, and is responsible for the death of Vance's mother years before. Vance is determined to take his father down and makes a deal with the FBI. Things get scary when Vance's father decides Lauren is to be brought into his "cage" to be sold. He won't take no for an answer...the problem is that Vance has developed feelings for her and needs time to figure out how to protect her until the sale goes down and the FBI can swoop in and take his father down. This book ends with a cliffhanger and I'm anxiously waiting to read the next book in the series.

Well color me shocked and dismayed. I was so excited to see a book from Brooke Page that I didn't read the blurb. BIG MISTAKE! Rush was a whirlwind of a dark and twisted ride.

I had a love-hate relationship with Vance. A good guy hidden under the layers of schemes and deception. His intentions were in the right place but how he went about getting what he needed made me twitchy. Especially when it came to Lauren. She was so kind and vulnerable. Which A- made her the perfect target. B- called to Vance on a level he couldn't explain. And C- was the reason Vance knew he had to keep her safe at any cost.

I could feel Vance's apprehension over what he had to do grow the more he got to know Lauren. The more he fell for her. The more he opened himself up to her. Don't even get me started on Tucker- I know he's up to no good. And that final scene, my heart was in my throat the entire time. I knew it was going to end badly but I didn't see that twist coming at all. Gah! I have to know what happens next!

Rush is my very first book I've read of Brooke Page and it definitely won't be the last.

Rush was beautifully written and I couldn't put it down. I needed to know what was going to happen between Vance and Lauren.

Vance has one mission in life is to take down his father. And that means he has to work with and destroy everything. Working under cover to take down is operation. But he never intended to find some one that means th world to him. And the one girl he wants is the one his father wants for his operation.

Lauren is good at two things, taking care of her addict mother and running away when things get tough. She never meant to fall for surf shop owner Vance. She finally letting herself feel and want thing that he can give her.

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to see how this story will unfold. Will Vance take down his father? Will Lauren be able to stay with him once she finds out what he has been hiding?

Rush was a great read. When I first picked up the book and started reading, I must admit, I was skeptical. Within the first 2 chapters or so I put the book down a few times. I’m not really into the human trafficking books but this book was so much more. The characters were great....most of them anyway. There’s always one or two that you don’t like. In this case, that’s putting it lightly. I’d like to go after one of the characters and beat him bloody.

To see how Vance really is behind the scenes was great. I didn’t like him in chapter one but by the end, I totally fell for him. He really seems to be trying to do the right thing but many get hurt in the process. Will he be able to accomplish what he tries to do without one particular person getting caught in the mess?

Dying to read Resist and see what happens. Rush ends with a cliffhanger that will leave you dying for Book two.

Lauren had grown up with a drug addict mother who made extra money by bringing men into her house. Lauren couldn't handle the thought of moving in with a close male friend. So she and a friend ran away to the ocean to relax. There they met 3 men, Vance, Colt, and Tucker, all very different than what they knew, they came from a world of drugs and human trafficing. Her friend fell for Colt and Lauren for Vance, but Vance's dad Marcus, was the head of the drug ring that the men were involved in. How could Colt and Vance continue their "jobs" while falling in love with the 2 girls. Marcus wanted Lauren to be his "Dove" to sell. This book was very well written. The plot and characters were well developed and the plot moved along rapidly. I am anxiously awaiting the next happenings. I received this book free from the author in return for an hones review.

Ends with a cliff hanger

3.75 stars - would of given more stars if it didn’t end in a cliff hanger. Story includes some underlining issues with human trafficking, mainly Vance’s father operation which he is preparing to take down with the help of the FBI.

Lauren and her friend Marcy decides to take some time off and end up at Marcy’s grandmother YaYa at some beach town called The Shore.

Even though YaYa warned Lauren about Vance’s father, she didn’t ask for any info. I supposed that she was too love sick with Vance and all logical thinking goes out the window. Plus being young and naive would do that to you.

Vance is pure alpha as they come and he determined to keep Lauren safe. Their chemistry is pretty steamy although there was some love-bombing going on.

Anyways it ends with a cliff hanger much to my disappointment.

This is my first experience with this author. While the premise is a little dark for my normal taste (human sex trafficking), the author does a great job of giving you the details of what is going on.

I love the instant attraction between Vance & Lauren. They both come from similar backgrounds of drug-addict mothers and are trying to make a better life for themselves; even if Vance has taken the somewhat dark way to get there.

I like that Vance sees something more in Lauren and want to do whatever he can to protect her from his father’s ways and even sees a future with her as she brings out the best in him and shows him how to love.

What happens when Marcus shows up at Vance’s door? Can’t wait to read book 2 to find out.

I really had a difficult time with the theme of this story line but I did love the way the author built up the characters, flaws and all. It was easy to see how much Vance disliked the "job" he had to do for his father at the shore while trying to bring him down in retribution for everything that he did to Vance's mom. Lauren and Vance are total opposites but their attraction to each other felt real and the author did a good job developing the characters.

I'm looking forward to reading book 2, as this book ends with a cliffhanger. I received a free copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review. That being said, I've already pre-ordered my own copy of Rush for myself.

Two damaged souls find solace in one another

Vance and Lauren didn't know that their meeting would change their lives forever. Vance is living his life by trying to get revenge and Lauren is just running away from her life. When they meet the chemistry is intense and they try to fight what's happening. When Lauren catches the eye of someone of dark intentions, Vance must do what he can to keep her safe. The storyline I love but it was a slide starter. There is a cliffhanger so beware all your questions will not be answered. Love the characters and I'm still in suspense of who ask the players are in the book. I sense some more betrayal, lies, secrets, and love coming in the next book.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

What a spectacular first book in the Riptide series! Rush was GOOD. The kind of GOOD I love talking about. This story had me utterly engaged and flipping the pages way too quickly because I couldn't seem to want to put it down. The characters interested me right from the start and the plot had my heart racing and that ending...WOW, WHAT A CLIFFHANGER!

I feel like I got everything and then some with Rush. The writing was superb and the story flowed just right and it was both exciting, surprising and thrilling. From the moment I started this book I was hooked. It seemed so flawless and left me with an ache and the need to know what happens next. Very impressive!

Rush gets a SO GOOD I MUST URGE YOU TO READ THIS FIVE SHOOTING STARS!!

Vance is both a bad boy and a good guy. He is trying to put an end to his dad’s illegal activities.

Then Lauren comes along. She is young, only 19, and overwhelmed with her life. She decides to escape to her Ya-Ya’s house with her BFF Marcy to escape her life.

Will Vance get sidetracked by Lauren? Will Lauren find herself with another issue in the form of Vance?

I would love to say read this and find out but it ends without answers in a cliffhanger. Can’t wait for part two.

I would like to thank the author for an ARC of this book. I loved it so much that I bought it. Great writing, great suspenseful story telling. Wonderful characters that are easy to embrace. Part story to the series.

WOW....i could not put the book down. From the first page to the last....i was hooked...now I patiently wait for book 2. Vance is tough on the outside soft on the inside. Lauren bless her heart has had it rough and Colby my heart hurts for him. It's a triangle and I can't wait to see how it all plays out. I want Lauren safe and with Vance but part of me is not sure she will be safe with Vance until his father is behind bars and maybe not even then. I am torn as she has the passion for one but the other is so good to her and her mom. What a great read from start to finish.

Rush is the first book in the Riptide series and ends on a cliffhanger.

This was an okay read for me. I liked the premise and loved the depth to Vance. I really felt that this was his story, more so than Lauren's, who felt more like a secondary character than anything else. His struggle to fight his way out of the family business felt real and it made for a dynamic character. Loved the inclusion of kite surfing, which I didn't know much about.

I received this book from the author in exchange for honest feedback.

Wow that is about all I can say right now. What a crazy good read this is, already dying for the next book!
Lauren had had such a rough childhood, with her mom being an addict.
Vance has lost his mom to her addictions.
So much sadness in common, and so much chemistry.
Vance is at war with himself, he has finally found someone he wants to keep for himself. With the business he is in with his dad it's dangerous for Lauren to be near him, yet he can't stay away.
