I just wasn't the audience for this. First half of the book felt really unnecessary, like it was trying to convince me why I should read and consider the book. Second half was better. I just suggest reading Yogananda's direct works like Autobiography of a Yogi or The Divine Romance. If you aren't already familiar with Yogananda I guess this would be a good introduction.

Anyways, this book is for Christians who want to hear a fresh interpretation of Jesus' message from a Hindu perspective. It's basically an endorsement for Christian Mysticism with encouragement to use tools from other cultures, such as Kriya Yoga, in your pursuit of your personal relationship with Jesus and your spiritual journey to unite with god.

Written by an American raised in an Orthodox Christian household. He converted to Hinduism in his early 20s and became a disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda. As of 2005 the author was 80 years old.

The work is the mature and knowledgeable teaching about Christianity by a man who has devoted his life to knowing God and developing spiritually. This is a great read.

the book beautifully explains bible in the light of teachings of sanatan dharma. what christ said about kundalini and being twice born its meaning and what has been misunderstood about it by the church. the book details about rebirth as mentioned in bible. The book also throws light on the years which are not accounted for in the christian chronicles. The author says that a good number of years were spent by christ in north india learning the spiritual secrets from the yogis. Its a beautiful synthesis of indian and christian teachings.

This book connects Christianity back to its roots in Sanaatan Dharma, the eternal truth behind all religions. It's not a line-by-line commentary, as with The Second Coming of Christ, but quotes and interprets the words of Jesus as needed while proceeding through various key topics and questions of Christianity. Perfect for people who want a more spiritual but less religious approach to Christianity, or who feel a natural love for Jesus that seems at odds with religious dogmas. Also, if you've tried to read The Second Coming of Christ but found it rather rough going, this is a much more approachable way to cover the same teachings, based on Paramhansa Yogananda's revelations.

Interesting concepts. Made sense after starting to read the Bhagavad Gita, A Walkthrough for Westerners. by Jack Hawkey. The Autobiography of a Yoga by Paramahansa Yogananda reread is more meaningful to understand Hinduism.
