Roxie Milam Wallace was born and reared in Decatur County, Tennessee. After graduation from Decatur County High School, she moved to California. While there, she attended a satellite of the University of Southern California at La Crescenta. After three years, she returned to Tennessee and studied at Memphis State University, earning a B. A. degree in English and Spanish in 1968. Later, she received both a masters’ degree and a doctorate in Educational Supervision and Business Management from the University of Memphis. Dr. Wallace taught in the Memphis City Schools System’s Special Program for Intellectually Gifted Students (CLUE), and as an adjunct instructor at the University of Memphis, retiring after thirty years.


Today, she lives in Memphis, Tennessee with her husband Roger Holder. She likes to visit with her sons, Lee, Jeffrey, and Chip Wallace and do things with her relative, adopted, and bonus grandchildren who live in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Florida. She being active in church work at Berclair Baptist Church, writing (articles and musical concert reviews), gardening, reading, and going thrift-store shopping.
