The focus of this book is a period from 1815, when Brits defeated Napoleon in the Battle of Waterloo, until 1819, when Manchester working class lost 18 members after auhorities halted down a protest. The book explores that era and tells us about who those people were and how they ended up protesting for their rights. It is also the era of the Industrial Revolution when the world was rapidly changing as never before. People were losing their jobs due to effective machinery, but at the same time they were becoming louder and started demanding things that not long before seemed impossible to claim. The book is very well arranged, exploring topic by topic, including politics, social life, and minds of working and governing people of the time. A quality read!
