This is probably the best book about Washington State history that I have ever read, and I have read a lot of them. It is full of historical photographs, many of which I have never seen before. The text is clear and concise and easy to read. It covers the history of the state from many different perspectives: cultural, industrial, political, agricultural, and military. Also included are brief descriptions of major events that shaped the state's history and development. A very enjoyable and informative read.

What makes this book different from other books on the state's history are the reproductions of posters, advertisements, newspapers, and promotional brochures.

This is a coffee table book and I really enjoyed it. The state is Washington and it covers agriculture (apples, potatoes and cherries plus grains), geology (ice age floods, glaciers erosion to form the Columbia Plateau and volcanoes in Washington), wildlife species, History of the state and a myriad of topics I found novel for this type of book.

I have the hardcover of this book and there are no songs at all in this book. Cover is the exact same. The hardcover and paperback may be different, but I doubt it.
