How much? How many? How far? How small? Math helps to make sense of the world around us. This book is filled with stories that cleverly contain everyday math problems for parents and children to solve together. Parents will love to watch a child open up their minds and think for themselves. Children will find the stories completely relatable and fun to read. And as they work their way through the book from easy to less easy in that special circle of parent-child sharing, they will grow in self-confidence as well as in number proficiency.
Let's do this together - math stories to solve is a book that makes kids fall in love with Maths! It is an interactive book meant for 5+years kids with each chapter having a story of it's own and is a maths problem. The stories are divided into three sections - EASY PEASY(17 stories), MOSTLY EASY(15 stories ) & NOT SO EASY(18 stories). The authors - Lubaina Bandukwala & Vineeta Kanoria have done a great job in creating this book by making it highly creative and engaging for kids and parents alike. The illustrations are interactive with various nature's maths like, cut an apple round and see the 5 pointed star in the apple's core, etc.
Overall, reading this book has been very enjoyable and refreshing.
I love Math. Like I've stated before, differential equations and trigonometry were what my sweet dreams were made of. As someone who has taught high school Math, what I find most discouraging is how much children fear it, and how irrelevant to real life it has been made out to be.
I was determined I wouldn't let the system get to V.🙈 When you have a child, she teaches you to notice teachable moments in everyday scenarios- number of stairs, symmetry in a butterfly's wings, shapes of cookies, number of sides of a mirror, how taking away a few chillies leads to lesser than before, measuring rice, etc.
Thats precisely why I love this book. 65 real life Indian scenarios like going to the park, birthday parties, circus, as well as exciting ones like scorkelling pose a mathematical problem each- how much, how many, how many more, how many less, etc. These problems occur in everyday life and help a child understand the practical use of Math.
Apart from that, the problems also require a fair amount of linguistic understanding, helping a child hone vocabulary as well.
Divided into 3 sections based on difficulty and interspersed with a few illustrations this makes a great read to peruse regularly for 5+ aged children. What's more, when working with your child, one can easily spot areas that need practice.
Maths is definitely not an easy subject especially for those who have a fear when they hear the name. Born into a family or mathematical geniuses, I was not very comfortable with maths. The fact that everyone else is much better on this gave me a fear that was throughout my education period. This book ' let's do this together' by @lubaina.bandukwala @vineetakano looks really fun and engaging for kids to solve math problems. The questions how many ? How much? How far ? Have a lot of meaning when it comes to math. Right from counting the number of pista shells, to number of days that new moon the book makes learning more interesting. When guided by a parent or the teacher the book is a great way to make kids understand the mathematics concepts. Easy least, mostly easy and not that easy the three sections divide the book into three sections that deal with problems according to the complexity. With simple narration and day to day examples I just loved the way the author has written the book. Recommended for 5+ this book is a must buy for kids to start loving maths.
The book focuses on learning through storytelling. An adult need to narrate the story and bring solutions together with the child.
The book, Let’s do it together, is skillfully curated with an increasing difficulty level. There are stories that would catch the young reader’s attention instantly. The illustrations complement the stories. The pages with nature-inspired illustrations fetch out on nature’s mathematical patterns. Like a 5-pointed star in apple core or spirals found in seashells.
What a fun way of learning when a child is eager to solve the ending of each story and actually work on a sum! Enhance the child’s reasoning skill and problem-solving attitude.
Appropriate for 5-year olds the book is highly recommended to encourage expertise on maths. Bonus, bond with the child as you introduce mental mathematics too.
This book aims to make mathematics approachable and fun for young minds. It combines stories with simple math problems, encouraging the reader to solve them along the way. The book is meant to be read collaboratively between parents and children. The concept is truly unique and has been executed well in this book. The math problems are presented in a relatable manner and are easy to solve as per the level indicated. A few illustrations make the book more appealing. However, this is not a book that children will pick on their own. It is targeted solely at parents who want to help and encourage their children. The subject will not appeal to children but will definitely appeal to their parents!
As a kid I always dreaded these questions. Maths was never my favorite and till date I don't enjoy mathematics.
We recently received this book 'Let's do this together' by Lubaina Bandukwala and Vineeta Kanoria which is full of math word problems in form of simple stories. .
There are 3 levels of problems which are easy peasy, mostly easy and not so easy. Mishkaa could easily understand and solve most of the problems.
Just as the title suggests, children need help to solve the problems. This book aims at building their number proficiency.
'Maths' that one subject which gave me nightmares. My husband always says me 'You will never teach maths to our kids please' I still struggle in addition/subtraction for mere 2 digit numbers. Just Imagine! 🙈
I wanted to introduce maths to my son in a fun way and thanks to this book It has made our learing so much fun. Wish I had this book at my time.
This book is filled with stories that weave maths in the narrative so effortlessly. Makes our story time into learning time too. The book starts with sums that are Easy-Peasy, moving towards Mostly Easy and then to Not the Easy phase.
My daughter is not so comfortable when it comes to numbers. I'm really happy as I got this book as this is helping her to understand that math is fun. Aastha is six years old and she started learning about numbers in a fun way. The book got lots of stories along with numbers to solve.
This book is best for kids aged 6 years to 9 years and I am going to keep this book for next play date.
I feel that this book is quite boring and not that interactive/engaging considering it to be a beginner’s level young readers’ book to learn simple math. The stories do not do much. I feel it could have been so much better with less words and more illustrations and more visuals rather than just more focus on how the stories are told. Also, the illustrations do not do much.
This is fantastic book . Parents are bound to spend time with kids for this book.! As the title says lets do this together.! This book has math problem in form of stories.! My 5years daughter could solved them.! Must have one in the collection.! Wish 90’s kids had same level of books .!

A great change from everyday school textbooks. Maths sums weaved into stories using everyday things to keep the kids engaged and interested. Learning made fun.
A fun way to solve problems with the help of stories for children. The short stories urge them to calculate the answers and also enriches their vocabulary. Makes math very intersting and engaging.

I was never good at math. Even now , I hate math. I can say that because I never got good math teachers growing up, I hated it . When your basics are not clear, you can never enjoy anything. Thanks to the books like these, now a days math can be so much fun.
Let's Do This Together is filled with stories that clearly weave everyday math problems into the narrative so children can easily solve them with the help of a parent, teacher or friend.
The wonderful stories and beautiful illustrations enable children to develop a love for math at an early age.
Cut a fruit, section a vegetable and take a peek at nature's math. For eg. See the five pointed star in the apple's core.
The most beautiful thing about this book is that it combines math with one thing which all children love, that is story telling. All the stories are imaginative and relatable.
The language is simple and very easy to understand.
This is a simple enjoyable book which will make kids learn maths in a fun way. The book has many short stories which will talk about the maths problems.
