I’ve got a small confession… I am not a fan of the movie My Best Friend’s Wedding. Please don’t unfriend me. I am a fan of My Best Man’s Wedding though! I thought this was an adorable read, much better than the movie. For one thing, Jessica and Gentry have killer chemistry. They’ve been friends for a long time and have flirted a bit, but the past few months their feelings have started to grow into something more. Now *this* is my kind of “friends first” troupe. Maybe because it reminds me of how my husband and I started out. I liked that this retelling was similar to the movie, but the tweaks made it a much better version, IMO. Anyway, this was a fun read, really sucked me in and I enjoyed it from start to finish.

Do you judge a book by its cover? I’m guilty of it. This cover looks like a stereotypical romance. And it is except it is “clean” and listed as Christian. It’s well written but too focused on the physical for my taste. It’s almost an exact take on the movie My Best Friend’s Wedding with Julia Roberts only her sidekick isn’t gay he’s her love interest.

I usually like this author's books, but this one...The characters were shallow, Gentry was way too feminine for my taste at the beginning, and I wasn't convinced Ross loved Marcella. Gentry grew on me and ended up being my favorite character. He was sweet, patient, and kind. I felt like Ross was embarrassed by Marcella a majority of the time and only kept her around for make out sessions. This one fell way flat for me. And that's two books of hers I've read in a row that referenced Dirty Dancing. What am I missing? I did like that it was clean. And even though she is super shallow, Jessica ended up being really kind to Marcella. While the storyline had promise, the characters weren't likeable enough to pull it off. It was a quick, read in one sitting story. I wouldn't read this one again.

Sweet Romance

I was worried about whether I would like this book or not, since I’ve always disliked the whole break-up-a-wedding, because he’s marrying the wrong person plot line. But, I loved Jessica and Gentry! She was definitely interested in him, so I put up with the crazy plan. Marcella probably shouldn’t have said such inappropriate things. It was so short! I wanted more!

One-sided fake fiancée vs. the wed-by-30 pact.

It's a love quadrangle in this book. At least two characters had things figured out. It will all come down to the question: which has more power and influence; the wed by age 30 pact, or the coworker only pretending to be a fake-fiancee to make the old boyfriend jealous?
This book is more romcom than the other novellas in the series, and the change of pace feels good. The characters from the earlier stories make appearances, and it is nice to visit and catch up with their lives.

This is a cute story that is a twist on the movie MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING. I enjoyed Jessica in previous stories from this series. It was fun to see Jessica get her own story. Ross and Marcella are not my favorite characters of all time, but maybe they are not meant to be. Gentry, on the other hand, is way cool. As I look back over the movie synopsis of MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING I see that the author did a fabulous job of creating a new story that highlights the movie. I like the twists that make it different too.

Cute novella. Nice for a little evening curled up by the fire. Except for being the mean girl for a while the main character is pretty fun. Also dense. Took her a while to figure out who she really loved. Her best friend's fiancé is a hoot of a character. I loved her but also felt sorry for her in her choice of in-laws because that isn't going to be a pleasant Thanksgiving dinner situation.

A great, fake romance story. However, Jessica is rather stupid for most of the story. She's almost thirty and hasn't yet become an adult. Gentry gives her a hand and a ring to coax her along. But she makes a few missteps along the way. Delightful ending.
