Lone Star Christmas Witness is now my favorite book that Margaret Daley has written! It is packed with heart, healing of past and present hurts, and some very harrowing situations for the characters.
The book jumped right into a horrible situation with the beginning of the first chapter, the aftermath of a mass shooting. The author handled this difficult scenario with grace, while also allowing the reader to experience the emotions that both of the main characters felt as they entered the scene.
I was intrigued as Texas Ranger Taylor Blackburn and his team worked with Sierra Walker to piece together the who and why of the shooting. It was fascinating to watch their process and discover who the perpetrator was.
Throughout all of this, there was a very traumatized little boy, Ben, who stopped speaking the moment of the shooting. The care and love that all of the characters showed for him and the way they tried to help him feel safe added a lot of heart to the story.
I enjoyed this book from start to finish and loved the wonderful epilogue at the end!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
This story is "ripped from the headlines"! The first chapter grabs you and saddens you immensely but at the same time you HAVE to read it! It's a mass shooting at a doctor's office and the only one left alive is a little boy who has hidden himself where the shooter didn't see him. From there, the book doesn't slow down! Taylor Blackburn is the Texas Ranger who arrives on scene. The little boy, Ben, is so sweet but he sees him mother gunned down in front of him and that makes him stop speaking. Through the whole book he doesn't speak and my heart was totally broken for him! His aunt, Serena, becomes his guardian and she is grieving just as much as Ben. This story was so gut-wrenching to me. I couldn't read it fast enough! With so many mass shootings in the news, we rarely hear about the people that are witnesses or those left behind or the law enforcement that have to work the case. This book deals with all those people and it was great! I found it fascinating. I readily recommend it. I received this book from the author but wasn't required to review it. These thoughts and opinions are my own.
Love those Texas Rangers! I may want to live there! :) This was a good story about a boy named Ben, that witnesses a murder. He is really struggling with communicating with his Aunt Sierra and Texas Ranger Taylor Blackburn. For Taylor, this is a very hard case because his son TJ died and now he needs to protect Ben from dying. He is working tirelessly to keep both Sierra and Ben safe. Can he do it? Read and see!
Lone Star Christmas Witness, is the 5th book in Margaret Daley's "Lone Star Justice" series and it is another extremely suspenseful addition to this great series. Please note while it is part of a series it can be read as a stand-alone book.
Lone Star Christmas Witness is another sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat book by Margaret Daley and this one could come right out of a current headline. Ms. Daley handles the subject well.
This book starts out in the aftermath of a mass shooting leaving one very young boy as the only witness. The suspense escalates from there taking the reader on a roller coaster ride.
I always love it when an author creates a world and characters that beckon me in. Where you feel like you are right there feeling what the characters are feeling. Ms. Daley does this very well.
I am a huge fan of good characterization and I wasn't disappointed with Sierra, Taylor, Ben and Taylor's father Robert. They were all believable and I grew fond of them all.
The saddest part of the story centered around a little boy named Ben, who because of the circumstances turned mute. But in time... well you'll have to read the book to see what- happens.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good suspense-filled story, especially one set during Christmas.
On a 5-Star scale = 5 Stars!!!!!
I would like to thank the author, Margaret Daley, for my copy of Lone Star Christmas Witness. I received my copy for free but I was not required to write a positive review. My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Lone Star Christmas Witness. This is the fifth book in the Lone Star Justice Series. This is a great read and I know you are going to love it. This book is well written, action packed, and full of faith. Margaret is an awesome author.
Texas Ranger Taylor Blackburn is called to a mass shooting in the Premier Medical Clinic. When he is checking out the carnage he finds a small boy hiding in a cabinet. Evidently his mother hid him before she was gunned down. Could he have seen the killer? He must keep this child and his beautiful aunt safe.
Office Manager Sierra Walker works in the Premier Medical Clinic with her sister. She just left the accountant's office and is headed to the clinic to pick up her nephew. Ben had been ill and Sierra promised to keep him today and work from home. When she turns on to the street to the clinic, she sees police cruisers parked along the street in front of the clinic lights flashing. Terrified she tries to enter but is escorted to a Texas Ranger. What has happened to her family?
A journey of three broken souls trying to understand why a person could slaughter eight people. They must learn to trust each other and trust the God who has the answers. God has a plan for these souls; a plan for a hope and a future. You might not have a killer after you but you do have an enemy outlaw who wants to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus came to give life and that more abundantly. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life.
What can a seven-year-old boy who is the lone survivor of a mass shooting do to help the police and Texas Rangers find the mass murderer? Unless they can help him feel completely safe again, the likelihood of any help coming from him is miniscule. But what else do they have to go on? Unlike many mass shootings in recent years when the shooter strolls in and starts firing randomly, this person apparently has intentionally targeted the doctors and staff of a medical practice and methodically guns them down, intending to leave no survivors. Fortunately for her and the little boy, Sierra, the office manager, had an appointment with their accountant and was out of the office. She works with the Texas Rangers to try to identify anyone who would have had a vendetta against the clinic. The little boy is her nephew and his mother was one of the victims. You have probably heard of someone being “scared speechless”. That’s exactly what happened to young Ben. As much as they need to know what he may have seen, they wonder if he will ever speak again. In the meantime, Texas Ranger Taylor Blackburn who has suffered great losses of his own is drawn to Ben and Sierra. At the top of his priority list is keeping them safe. The book is a quick read packed with action, suspense, love, and faith. I received a copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
I've enjoyed the Lone Star Justice mini-series as each one has released over the last few years. I have to say that Lone Star Christmas Witness is Margaret Daley's best yet! You are dropped right into the action on page one and are taken on a wild ride from there on. Just when you think you've got it all figured out, you don't. I had a hard time putting the book down and found myself still reading into the wee hours of the morning until even the proverbial toothpicks couldn't keep my eyes open.
In addition to non-stop action and danger, plus a budding romance, Lone Star Christmas Witness is also very much a story of loss and the slow road from tragedy toward healing. So if you enjoy a good romantic suspense that also tugs at the heart you really should check out Margaret Daley's latest chilling Lone Star Justice novel, it's a good one!
(I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are entirely my own.)
I have mixed feelings about this holiday romantic suspense. It's well written, I connected with the characters right away and the plot is nicely paced between action, investigation and the developing romance. There's also a nice bit of Christmas scattered throughout so it's truly a holiday read.
However, the opening scene is gut-wrenching and I guess I had a hard time adjusting to a seven year old boy being the sole survivor of a mass shooting. More chilling then I care to read in a Christmas novel. And yes, I know it's a suspense and murder and mayhem is part and parcel of that, but there are also circumstances that I can't mention for the sake of spoilers, that made it even heavier and I grappled with that for the whole read, especially where the romance is concerned. Still, Lone Star Christmas Witness is a gripping read and I'm glad I spent time with Sierra and Taylor and young Ben.
Lone Star Christmas Witness (Lone Star Justice) by Margaret Daley Author Margaret Daley has written a fantastic Christmas Suspense novel. I give Long Star Christmas Witness, five stars. It is a suburb Christmas book full of action. The characters are well thought out and engaging. This book is full of suspense, action at every turn and has kept me at the edge of my seat. Once I picked it up, I could not put it down until the last page was read. It was a quick read. Texas Ranger Taylor Blackburn is given the job to keep little Ben and his Aunt Sierra safe after he is the only witness to a mass shooting. Christmas is looking bleak as their lives are turned upside down. But the Christmas spirit is strong and family and friends are united. This has been my all time favorite Christmas book this year.
This book is simultaneously heartbreaking and uplifting. There was a mass shooting at the medical clinic where young Ben was the only survivor. The shock of the event (where his mother was murdered) left him mute making him unable to give Texas Ranger Blackburn any information about the shooter. The Ranger and his team worked with Ben's aunt Sierra to figure out who the culprit was. Sierra also worked at the clinic but, luckily, was not there at the time of the shooting. I loved the way everyone was concerned about Ben and tried to make him feel safe. Sierra handled her new guardian job well. Even though she was grieving the loss of her sister, she put Ben's feeling first.
What a fantastic read!!! I love a great story that holds me captive. This book does it with a mixture of suspense, surprises, and romance. A perfect combination!
The book starts out with Texas ranger Taylor Blackburn being called to a mass shooting at a doctor’s office. While he is investigating, He hears a noise. After searching for where it came from, he pulls out a deck drawer to find a Ben, the only survivor. Ben was 7 years old, and he was in his mother’s doctor’s office at the time of the shooting. His aunt Sierra Walker is the office manager. She had been at a meeting that morning. She arrives to work with the building surrounded by Police cars, and an ambulance. She takes off running to the door. She wants to make sure her sister, and nephew are okay. I loved how Taylor, and his dad took in Sierra, and Ben and kept them protected. This was an action-packed book from shootings, to bombs. The friendships that were made during this intense time would go on to last for years to come. Excellent book!
Lone Star Christmas Witness by Margaret Daley is the fifth book in her Lone Star Justice series by Love Inspired Suspense. Six-year-old Ben Markham is the sole survivor of a mass shooting and the only witness. Now, Texas Ranger Taylor Blackburn must protect little Ben and his aunt, Sierra Walker. With Christmas right around the corner can Taylor keep them all safe so they can celebrate the holidays together? This story was very fast-paced and sweet, even though at times it was predictable. I still enjoyed it. The love shown little Ben by his aunt was very sweet and enduring. I liked getting to know Taylor and sharing in his past heartaches. I would definitely recommend this book.
I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
This story started with a powerful picture. A mass shooting in a Dr's building. You meet the Taylor Blackburn, Ben and Sierra Walker. The story is about triumph over loss present and past. Its a fast paced story. That will give you a idea of the mind of the killer. It is also about catching the person responsible for what happened. Its a great story that is well writtened and worth a read. It deals with a issue that is happening today. I enjoyed the way it was written and the pace it was set at. You will find yourself hoping that the good guys win for the bad guy makes no sense.
Ranger taylor is call to a shooting at the clinic, Sierra is at a meeting and gets back to the clinic after the shooting, she runs in and looks for her nephew and sister, Taylor finds the boy hiding he takes him into another room and calls a dr for him, he will not talk. Sierra is brought to him and he goes to her but no talking Taylor tells her want happened and she agrees to help find out why. then someone tries to shoot them. if you like suspense and romance you have to read the book. I could not put the book down very good
Lone Star Christmas Witness is a yet another fabulous addition to Margaret Daley's series, Lone Star Justice. This fifth installment involves action and suspense for Sierra, Taylor and Ben. I loved the chemistry between Sierra and Taylor and how much they want to protect Ben. I was captivated with this story start and finish. I just could not put it down. I thought Lone Star Christmas Witness a great read and I give it five plus stars. I loved this quick read! I received this book from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
I loved the book, I think it was her best one yet. I was up till 3 am reading I couldn`t put it down, only reason I did as I had to get up in a couple hours. It is a fast moving story that keeps you captured from page one. I love the series and know you will too. Six year old Ben is the sole survivor of a mass shooting and the only witness. Texas ranger Taylor Blackburn protects Ben and his aunt Sierra. Is there a little romance in the picture??
Wow is all I can say, love this author. Taylor Blackburn Texas Ranger is called to a medical clinic where everyone has been killed. In clearing the office is fine a little boy hiding. A male nurse and the office manager is missing. Where are they, did they do this? This book has murder, attempted murder, bombs, disguises, revenge, pain and healing. If you have not read this get it. It's fantastic.
The attacker killed several in an attempt to get revenge for a disease taking his daughter 2 years earlier. Then his wife died by suicide. The attacker wouldn't let go of the grief but clung to revenge. The doctor's son mostly likely saw his mom get killed & heard the revenge cry. The trauma stole his voice. As they seem to discover the attacker, they also seek help for the boy. A great story.
A Christmas of heartache to a Die Hard "Christmas" action movie, Lone Star Christmas Witness, is terribly sad and cathartic. The author kept the story moving forward at a good speed. The main characters are relatable. I just couldn't help feeling sorry for two people who had lost family and had difficulty dealing with that loss. A very emotional story.
This entry involves a mass shooting and its effect on the families touched by it. Texas Ranger Taylor Blackburn is assigned and falls into one of the families involved. Pain and bereavement are at the core of this story, but there is a happy ending.
Very good. I enjoyed the little boy a lot. This book starts out fast and furious, lots of suspense and action in this one , would have like a bit depth to the MCs. I’m not fond of the narrator. She made the heroine sound a tad weak. Happy reading/listening!
I enjoyed reading this book. Great character development. Great storyline. Relatable characters. Have Kleenex close. I cried in places! Worth reading! Check it out!
What a wonderful series of books! Each one had love and suspense. The stories were good and of course, the main characters were perfect for each other. I thoroughly enjoyed each one.
A really enjoyable story.Lots of action, thrills and suspense, started out fast and just never slowed down.Margaret Daley knows how to keep you coming back for more.
This is a really great book. I love stories about the Texas Rangers!!! Sierra and Ben definitely suffered some heartache but God brought them through!!!
