Same ol' story... they meet, roll around in the sheets, and get their happily ever after... or don't. That's how it goes, right?
So what makes us any different?
Simple. Our story involves one Presley Alexandra Beckett. The woman who takes any and every damn thing I thought I knew and flips, twists, distorts, denies and defies it until I lose track of up from down.
Just when I start to think I've got her figured out... I uncover the real reason why Presley spends her life hiding behind a wall of sassy, stubborn deflection.

We met Princess P before, now here is her story. Follow along while she falls in love with her cousin's best friend. Does everything work out for them? We will see in book two.
Have you ever read a book and done a complete 180 degree turn from your original thoughts? I thought this was going to be an epic comedic romance but that is misleading. It's funny and completely sucks you in but it's also got a serious shadow lurking.
Elusive is a road block. A "travel down the happy road of life at 80mph and miss the end of the unfinished bridge" kind of road block. I see it. I slammed on the brakes but only someone looking for trouble will notice it.
I spent a good chunk of this book laughing my butt off. This crew is legit over the top awesomeness. With awards for every category...

I seriously want to be a part of this crazy town clan. I will take a num Erin and get on the waitlist because this family is the only kind of family people should have. Loving, caring, and over the tip...I mean top.
I know what's coming. I have a terrible feeling. I am 99.99% certain. And it makes my stomach clench and my heart hurt because it's only going to get worse before it gets better. And only if Presley let's people in...
It's killing me that I don't have book 2 yet; and at the same time, I'm afraid that I'm right. Either way, I am definitely looking forward to it. Hold my hand while I wait.
4 bad ass stars!! I love all the characters in this book. So much yumminess, as well!!
So this is book one in the “Princess Presley Duet”. Well I believe this ties in to many other books and since I did not read them I felt a little lost. Maybe like too many characters and too much connection I missed out on. So if you have read previous books by this author then you will be great, if not be prepared. But even with all that by the end of the book I want to know every single one of these characters. So many alpha males!! And sassy women!!
“This big ass body?” He slaps himself in the chest. “If you’d let yourself fall, it, I, would catch you!”
This book was pretty damn funny! I laughed out loud quite a bit. I loved seeing the main male character, Sutton, chasing Presley. It’s refreshing and he was such a perfect man. How did the author manage to combine sexy, bad ass, gentle, loving, loyal and take no shit into one man?!?!!! Love him!!! Presley can get annoying but I totally get her. Though I am still waiting on that bombshell. Damn that ending!! I am so excited that book two will be out soon!!!!
So many characters made for such a kick ass family and I am sad I didn’t read about them all because I am super curious, so I am going to do some research and those books are definitely going on my tbr!! This was a well rounded book with some twists, lots of laughs, tons of sexy, great characters and so much more. Grab it today!!
Elusive was a tough book for me to rate. I really don't like Presley. By the end, you realize something happened to make her such a wall off, stone cold bitch, but its difficult to believe that someone in a family like hers had something tragic happen and NO ONE knows or called her out on her behavior. Sutton hangs around for a few weeks and he catches on, but for years no one in her family noticed?
I did like Sutton; however, I felt like he was an underdeveloped character. Why is he so deep and understanding? Why is he willing to put up with Presley's bitchiness? Its obvious he is, but I don't get why?
I'm hoping that all these questions will be answered in book 2, Exclusive, and that I will be able to better connect with Presley and Sutton. Elusive is the classic angst ridden new adult story: finding your way in the world is messing and hard.
POV: dual 1st Tears: no Triggers: Series/Standalone: Series Cliffhanger: HEA:
Angsty NA romance like Lead Me Home by AL Jackson, The Rosemary Beach series by Abbi Glines, The Coincidence of Callie and Cayden by Jessica Sorenson ...then you will probably like Elusive!

I have loved every book that S.E Hall has written and this book was no exception. Her writing is still seamless and effortless to read.
I was waiting on Princess P’s (Presley) book for a while now as I loved her from the beginning, the sassiness, the way she is devoted to the rest of her family and friends, there was something about her that just pulled me to her. This book doesn’t let me down. Presley is everything and more.
I did love Sutton though, he is so lovely and just what Presley needs even if it took a wee bit for them to get there.
Presley is anxious, she is not a relationship kind of girl, well that is what she thinks but Sutton, he knows differently, he knows that despite her protests, her moods her phobias Presley feels as strongly for him as he does for her.
The chemistry between these two when they do eventually throw caution to the wind and just let go and embrace the feelings they have for each other was intense and amazing writing. You could get an insight as to how these two fit each other perfectly.
I adored how you got to see everyone and hear from the original Crew and the Squad as they are called, it was like going back down memory lane and bringing out all your favorites again.
I must admit though when I got to the end of this book I literally held my breath while reading. My heart was breaking, my eyes doing a double take at the words, not believing what I was reading. I wanted more, I needed to read more. I can’t wait for the second part of this duet, hurry S.E. we are all awaiting this now and will be on tender hooks until we receive it.
As always though, amazing writing and a great book that will capture all your feelings in one sitting.
It is no secret that I'm a big fan of S.E. Hall's writing and Elusive reminded me why I lover her words so much. It could've been Presley's sass and sweetness. It could've been Sutton, the gentle giant. But I mostly think it was the two of them together.
I loved their back and forth. The push and pull. There was absolutely no denying the chemistry. It was always simmering just below the surface waiting to bubble over. And when it did...whew hot! But it was the other things that make a relationship that made Presley twitchy. Heck, even the word relationship made her nervous. Feelings, letting someone in...forget about it. Only problem was she had the feelings and didn't know what to do with them. But Sutton did. He just got Presley. Her moods, her reactions. What she said and all that she didn't.
I also loved seeing the Crew (yes the original Crew) and the rest of the squad. Those characters are so near and dear to me that anytime I get a glimpse at their brand of ri-crazy, it puts a smile on my face. Dare I say, Brynn surprised me more than once while reading this. But the turn this book made had my jaw on the floor. It was so completely unexpected and gut wrenching to read that I hugged my pillow. The way Elusive ended...gah! Oh Sutton and Presley- I just want to wrap you both up. I can't wait to see what the second half of this duet will bring!
I have been wanting to read S.E. Hall for a while so when I had the chance to read Elusive, I jumped at it. This is the first book in her Princess Presley Duet and does end with readers wanting the next book now! Though this story is a standalone duet, I believe they are interconnected characters from previous books. I am excited to go back and read more of this author’s work.
I absolutely loved Sutton. He was all kinds of sexiness, but also sweet, caring and so very patient. I loved his character so much. Presley, at least to me, was not always as likeable, but I have a feeling we will learn more about her in the second book. She was strong, determined and had her heart hidden behind a stone wall.
Sutton and Presley have so much chemistry, but Presley continuously pushes him away. But she cannot deny the connection they have or Sutton’s determination to win her over. Presley is not a relationship kind of woman, but Sutton is getting under her defenses. Can they find a way to be together?
Elusive had some laugh out loud moments, was sweet and had great banter between Sutton and Presley with all their push and pull. It does end in a bit of a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to read what happens next.
I’m glad I waited until book 2 came out to pick this up, having heard it ended on a cliffhanger. There was no good reason to split this into 2 books. This first book was better than the second one as far as content goes.
Presley and Sutton are hot hot hot when she lets him in but she keeps pushing him away. He isn't giving up so easy on her. part 1 of duet was great cannot wait to read2
I love this who squad and their parents. This one while I enjoyed I felt a little let down that it wasn’t a complete story( I know I went in knowing it was a duet) I felt like it could have been complete. I love that I’m already invested and I’m dying to know what the heck is going on. I loved getting to see everyone else and I just might have to do a re read of this series because Dane is simply yummy
Sawyer is my favorite book boyfriend of ALL TIME, so I was super excited to read Paisley's book because of him. I love how much he was in it, and just how adorable he is as a dad. Even better, Paisley is JUST LIKE HIM! I love it so much!!! I loved every single thing about it!
Poor Sutton just keeps trying and Paisley is pushing so hard! He really seems to know what he wants in life, he even meets her entire "criteria", but she's still so hesitant. I can't wait until the next book to finally get the truth out of her! There are so many layers to her, and it makes me so sad that her cousins don't really know much about her either. She's so diehard about her family, that it's really hard to see what the really Paisley entails.
That cliff hanger at the end was INTENSE!!! SE Is such a beautiful genius for that one, I can't even be mad at it! It is the perfect set up to get me soooooo darn excited for the next book. It can't get here soon enough! I'm so extremely grateful that she kept going with the children of the Evolve series <3
I was waiting for Presley’s story and SE Hall did not disappoint!
This book had me laughing hysterically, wanting to throw my kindle, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. The writing was great. And definitely had the SE Hall vibes I look for when I read any of her books!
While Presley is moody and snippy and some may not like it, I love her personality! I’m dying to know more about what is truly going on with her. And while yes she does make me want to throw my kindle...she also makes me want to keep reading!
And Sutton *swoon* he’s the perfect mix of romantic, heartfelt and alpha all wrapped up into one perfect package. I love how patient he is with P, and even when she’s putting up walls he just keeps trying to knock them down.
The other thing that I loved about this story was getting to catch up with the crew again! The banter and that strong family bond feeling. It was perfect!
Now I just have to sit and try to patiently wait for book 2!
Elusive is SE Hall's the first book in the Princess Presley Duet. I have read all of SE Hall's books and I'm a huge fan of the woman and her writing! Sawyer Beckett is one of my favorite book boyfriends of all time. All time, people! And this is his daughter's story. My blog partner asked me if it was weird to read his daughter and it's not! Enough time has passed and the Crewss kids are in their twenties and Sawyer is now my age. YAY! I still love him so much. I was laughing out loud every time he spoke. Lord, I missed these characters. Now it's Princess Presley's turn to find love, or not. Presley is as mouthy as her dad and a total handful. She loves her family something fierce and they would do anything for her. Even call her out when she's acting dumb. She has feelings for sexy Sutton, but she ran away from him last time. Now she wants another chance with him. Just between the sheets though. Sutton isn't going to take little morsels from her, he wants it all. She's a tough cookie and she isn't going to go down without a fight. Sutton has all the right moves. All the perfect words. All the right gestures. But will it be enough for Presley to give in? Can she give over her heart to someone else? What's holding her back? I loved this story! My husband was laughing at me laughing out loud. I would read a thousand books with these characters. Sutton is a big, beefy, sweetheart and Presley is a complicated beauty. Together they have met their match. Yes, it's a Duet, so it does end on a cliffhanger. I can't wait to see what happens next!
"Oh Lord, let me sit back down for this. Your mom made me wear my nice shoes today, can't be stepping in the load of shit you're about to drop. What do you want" SAWYER!!
"You know, there's this evil rumor floating around, pretty universally, that getting a man to discuss things is like pulling teeth. Congrats on being an anomaly, you're the talkingest damn dude I've ever met."
I'm defenseless when it comes to Presley Beckett. She's it - the one - put on this earth for me…and made to bring me to my knees.
And I swear to God, if Long Duck Fucking Dong falls out of a tree and lands on top of me - we're leaving.
If you’ve followed The Evolve Series and book one of The Full Circle Series, you’re definitely familiar with Presley, aka Princess P. She’s a spit fire, a loyal member of the squad, and loves her family more than anything in the world. But she’s closed off and doesn’t really open up to other’s outside of her family. Enter Sutton, the one guy who seems to get under her skin, and no matter how much she tries to deny it, she can’t stay away. Sutton is also enamored by Presley, but he’s been burned by her before, so things are definitely interesting for these two when Presley enters Sutton’s life again.
I love, love, loved Sutton’s character. Everything about him, made me fall in love with him. How much he cares about Presley, his humor, his alphaness, and his protectiveness, there’s just something about him that you can’t help but fall in love with. Presley on the other hand in this book takes some getting used to. She’s on and off, and you know there’s something off, but you can’t put your finger on it. She leads Sutton on and then pushes him away anytime he gets too close. My heart broke for her, and I had no clue what was going on with her. I just wanted these two to have an HEA but this book doesn’t give us that, it definitely ends in a way that makes you begging for book 2 in the duet, and thankfully it’s out so I’m diving right in!
If you’re looking for an emotional rollercoaster of a book that will have you wanting to strangle one of the main characters multiple times, but also have you laughing out loud, this is definitely the book for you. I have been in a reading funk for a while now, and S.E. Hall did her magic and pulled me right out, with Elusive. This book had me captured from the very first chapter and didn’t let me go till the end! I can’t wait to dive right into book two to see how this story ends for Presley and Sutton. I highly recommend picking up Elusive today, trust me, you won’t regret it!
I forgot how much I love this family. Presley’s book brought all that home for me. Between dying from laughter, heartwarming family bonds, swoon worthy romance, and of course making me sob Elusive made for an incredible and addictive read. I was flying through the pages oblivious to the world around me. This may be my favorite book by her yet!
Presley is so complex. There’s much more behind that front of tough, wild, and commitment free that she wears like armor. My heart ached for the girl I caught glimpses of when she was with Sutton. I wanted to hug her and shake her at the same time. Sutton is honestly perfection. A giant teddy bear, at least when it comes to Presley. His determination to get past her walls only made me love him more. Despite the constant push and pull between them you can still feel that love building. You just KNOW these two are perfect together. Now I’m on the edge of my seat dying for the next part of their story! I cannot wait for it!
Sutton!! That is all. I don't know how she does it, but S.E. Hall always manages to add a new book boyfriend to my list everytime I read one of her stories. This was definitely no exception. I think she just created a character that rivals Dane and Keaton for me which is definitely saying something if anyone knows how highly I value them. Sutton is charming and funny and sweet and I fell for him reading from the first time he was introduced in the story. Presley is perfect for him and has to be one of my favorite female characters I have read in a while as well. She is strong and sarcastic and I love her bluntness.
I loved getting to see the whole crew again also. That has to have been one of my favorite parts about this story. I laughed so much reading this. Oh and that ending! I need more. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next.
S.E. Hall never disappoints and I am dying to see where she will be taking us with this story.
Sutton Ellis is an enigma of sorts. He is in tune with his inner feelings, he is a thinker, he is romantic, tolerant, and he tries to look for the good in most people until they push him to his tipping point. At the same time, he is larger than life and manly in more ways than one. Presley is the girl that sends out so many mixed signals but Sutton is sure that he is starting to understand her. He knows she is keeping something from him and those around her. Presley comes across and feisty and yet when she breaks, she crumbles. When a certain incident happens, Suttons steps in to be her knight in shining armour, but has he just crossed the line by finding out her secret? Can Presley ever forgive him? I enjoyed this story. I really found Sutton’s character great but was not mad on Presley. Yet saying that I realise the author is gearing us up for the big secret and hopefully, Presley can redeem herself. Bring on book 2. Reviewed for Hot books and Sassy Girls book blog
Obviously I need to know how this all ends because wow, this book was a lot to digest. I adore Sutton, every little or big thing about him, I just can't get enough of Sutton. Bless his heart as well because he couldn't have picked a more complicated and untrusting girl in Presley. I have to add that I enjoy most of the banter between these two, some seriously funny back and forth, but most of its just pure passion. Princess P, whom I've always thought was just a sassy, smart a$$, has really met her match but if I'm honest, I'm over her running, constantly running and I'm really looking forward to finding out what exactly makes her, well her. What she's hiding and been dealing or not dealing with. And I love, love the cast of characters, the original crew as well as this generation, love how every person has a role, big or small and just love the entire family dynamic. I'm really looking forward to the conclusion.
SE Hall is strikes rom-com gold again with her super sizzling Elusive, book one of her Princess Presley duet featuring our rowdy girl Presley and her beloved Squad. SE Hall always manages to give the perfect amount of banter interlaced with sexy, swoonworthy moments that'll have you claiming your next book boyfriend. With Presley and Sutton's story, it was no different.
Presley is a feisty one. Hell bent on having her way and caving to no man, Presley meets her match in Sutton and his relentless romance. Sutton is "THE" swoonworthy guy. He doesn't take one ounce of the bull that Presley is throwing (and she throws a lot!) Time after time Sutton wowed me with his quest for Presley. Only time will tell whether Presley will give in or let the mysterious issues that plague her take hold! Can't wait until the next book in the duet is released!
S.E. Hall has once again struck gold with Presley's (Princess P) story Elusive. I love this lady's writing style she writes beautifully and her books and storylines immediately pull you in.
So Presley is all grown up but believe me when I say she is still and always will be daddy's little princess. She's strong, very sassy and family is everything to her. She's never really been into the whole dating game but after an encounter with her cousins best friend Sutton he seems to have weedled his way into her thoughts more often than not. Can he break down the wallls Presley seems to have built around her heart and prove he's the only guy for her.
I love being back with the crew and can't wait to read the second part if Presley and Sutton's story.
***Complimentary copy recieved for an honest review***
I first experienced SE Hall's writing when I read Pretty Instinct. That book has stayed with me for a few years now. It just goes to show how much staying power her words have. I am so in love with Presley and Sutton in SE Hall's Elusive, Book 1 of the Princess Presley Duet. The love was instant. Their will they/won't they relationship kept me hooked. I also fell in love with Presley's family. They are close knit and quite the comedians. Several times I laughed out loud. Comedic relief exactly when needed.
I love the dual POV. It is my favorite writing perspective. I like knowing what is going on in both the main character's heads. I like seeing their internal struggles.
So if you are looking for a sexy second chance rom-com look no further. This 5 Star review is for The Sweet Spot Sisterhood Blog. Enjoy!
When you've read a series like Evolve, you think the author can't top it. Then, with the release of Embody, you have high hopes that the second coming of Crew, the Squad, will be able to hold their own against their parents' books. I can tell you that not only has JT kept up to what we expected, being that he's Dane's son, but Presley is holding her own (and with a father like Sawyer, let's face it, we were either getting totally sassy, or total recluse). Presley and Sutton's story has definitely started out strong, and with that cliffhanger (obviously, it's book 1), you're going to want book 2 ASAP. The heat, sass, emotion and intensity of this book will not let you down! *Patiently* waiting for book 2.
That ending??? I just can't..... Nope. Can't think about how that ended!!! Ugh!! And how long do I have to wait until the next book is out??
Any book that involves this crew of characters is one of favorite reads. The relationship between this family is crazy AF! You will love every page of it! (Until you get yo the end! 🙄)
Sutton is one fine as hell man. He is a huge guy with an even bigger heart. So many times I wanted to slap Presley because really? Who gives Sutton the brush of??? Just ask Hailey. She surely didn't want to let him go!!! Hahaha
I knew Presley's story would be good. Hell she is Princess Presley! But now I am left hanging and heart broken.
This book is awesome but know it's a cliffhanger!!! You will be left with WTF syndrome!!
Oh where to start with Sutton and Presley.....this book had my emotions all over the place from the very start.
Presley is a princess there is no doubt about that one, and honestly there were MANY times I wanted to shake her or smack her upside the head. She is her own worst enemy, but there is clearly a lot more to her story than we have seen so far.
Sutton is, well, amazing but at the same time I wanted to shake him as well and tell him to stop being walked all over. He is a wonderful man and truly loves her but doesn't know what to do with her most of the time, not his fault, but the frustration he feels is palpable.
We are left with a bit of a cliffy on this one, glad I have book 2 waiting for me.
So I bought this one on Release Day, but quickly learned it ended on a huge cliffhanger. So I held off, as much as it killed me to do so. I knew I couldn’t handle half of their story. Thank God I waited. Princess Presley holds so much in, she fakes happiness to everyone around her. There is something horrible from her past holding her back. Sutton is everything she needs to bring her back to life. He’s the man to demolish all her walls and help conquer all her demons, if only she would let him in. Some people might read this book and think Presley is just a spoiled brat, but there is so much more to her that hasn’t came to light yet. Maybe she’ll finally let Sutton help her overcome whatever it is.
I was sucked in from the first page and can’t wait to keep reading. I have loved every book in the larger series this book aligns too. And any time Sawyer Beckett makes an appearance in a book you know it will be epic.
This book is the perfect mix of funny, hot, emotional and angst filled.
I don’t want to give anything away so I’ll keep this a little vague. Sutton has wanted Presley since the moment he saw her. He wants all of her, but she only wants “parts” of him. Plus Presley has a secret.
Just as Sutton starts to break down her wall he does something that could ruin any bit of progress he has made.
Holy mother of all cliffhangers!! I need to know what happens! Ah Presley and Sutton. Just wow. SE Hall has really don’t it this time. She brought me in and I never wanna be let go. Jesus these two. So back and forth. Of course we get the Squad and their crazy antics along with the Crew. But seriously Presley.... I just want to hug the hell of out that girl. And Sutton... please just stay who you are and do what you have to do.
Im not giving anything away. If you’ve read anything by this author then you already know what I’m going through. If you haven’t ..... just get to reading and you’ll understand.
