what to say about this book. It's a shorter-length true crime book about ted bundy who I assume most of us know by now. The author does a great job with the facts and research. i can't say it's super well-written, but it sticks to the facts.
I wanted to read this book, because some of Ted's murders were in my home city, and Ted rented a place in my mom's friends house. I was rather shocked to learn he took his victims to where he loved, which made me wonder if he took them to my mom's friends home. Mom told me her friend said Ted appeared to be such a nice polite young man.
I expected more from this book. I did learn more about Ted Bundy, and the terrible crimes he commited.
Detailed account of Bundy & his horrible crimes. There was a lot of information I was unaware of given with this short read. This entire 6 book short series has been interesting.
While this book gave a good overview of the depth of Bundy's crimes, I felt as though there was a lot of padding. Some of the language was irreverent - particularly in the description of some of the victims and the injuries they sustained - and I do feel as though this could have been executed better. There were also several points in the book where the prose chopped and changed, which might have been an editing mishap. Overall it was an interesting read.
I have read quite a few books about Yes Bundy, this was more of a close up view of him and the atrocious acts he committed. The other few stories were also shocking and horrendous. It's unbelievable how man can kill and blame others for their own mistakes.
I have always been fascinated by Ted Bundy. He had everything he needed to be a smashing success in life, but he threw it all away for his own deep, dark, reasons. He once said something in an interview that rang true with me. He was asked why he ended up on the path he did when others, who grew up with the same dysfunction as he, and sometimes worse, fared much better. He said, "Some people are just less ready for failure than others." That seemed an apt response, but still doesn't explain why by a long shot.
All I can say, Ryan, this certainly is not a book for the faint hearted. I heard a lot about Ted Bundy but I didn't know a lot of the details that you have written about. I enjoyed this book myself but the details of what he did to these poor women. It's a great read.
Excellent true crime book on the ultimate psychopathic serial killer Ted Bundy. I have read many books on Ted Bundy and each book has provided a slightly different perspective. Ryan Becker continues to write exceptional true crime books that offer exceptional detail and background on the murderer and the victims. Well worth the read.
‘“When you feel the last bit of breath leaving their body, you're looking into their eyes. A person in that situation is God!” – Ted Bundy
Ryan Becker is relatively new to the literary scene, a handsome young man with a penchant for the gruesome. His list of books to date are TRUE CRIME STORIES Volumes 1 and 2, ROBERT BERDELLA: The True Story of a Man who turned his Darkest Fantasies into a Reality Volume 1, EDMUND KEEPER: The True Story of the Brutal Co-Ed Butcher Volume 2, JEFFREY DAHMER: The Gruesome True Story of a Hungry Cannibalistic Rapist and Necrophiliac Serial Killer Volume 3 and now TED BUNDY The Horrific True Story behind America’s Most Wicked Serial KIller. At the end of this book his biography is scant though important – ‘Ryan Becker aims to write all the stories he has read and watched and letting himself be taken into the world of true mysteries and psychological murder crime stories. He also wants to share his experience of his younger days with the readers on how he immersed himself with the dark reality of the world. He loves to tell a true story that will make you solve a puzzle on your mind. He is now living with his wife and two sons. Ideally, Ryan wants to leave a mark on the reader with his dark true crime stories.’
And so in this very short book Ryan distills the mind and crimes of the real life Ted Bundy. In the Introduction Ryan delves into the psychology of Bundy’s fame as a killer: ‘When we are children, we spend our time watching cartoons or reading tales that make an effort of stressing the great duality of good and evil, mostly in a clichéd manner. We learn to spot the good guys as those handsome people with friendly smiles and helpful manners; while the bad guys are always quick to grin, appear ambitious, and openly cruel human beings that regularly reveal their intentions early into the story. However, in real life things are often not this easy. History has taught us that some of the despicable, merciless, and bloodthirsty monsters have typically been those people who demonstrated the behavior that we falsely believed to be signs of ‘goodness,’ signs that killers use to manipulate their victims and lull them into a false sense of security. Ted Bundy was one such man — best-known for doing this, in fact — a killer who was as friendly as he was seductive. A heartless and remorseless murderer, who overpowered and desecrated his victims’ bodies, both, before and after death. Their corpses becoming his playthings until they had grown rotten and he had to dispose of them. Bundy, quite possibly the most famous American serial killer alongside Jeffrey Dahmer. His name spread terror across the United States during the 1970s, thanks to his killing and raping spree. As well as two successful prison escapes that had women all around the nation terrified to go out at night. Was he prolific? Yes, very much so — he confessed to killing well over 30 women, but it is believed that he killed many more. Were his crimes widespread? Scarily, yes. Women in up to seven states were his targets, and he would have gone on for longer if he had not been stopped. Bundy was a natural-born killer who lived to cause pain, and you, the reader, are about to find out just how terrible the man was. Ted is the main protagonist of our book. The man who went on to be known as the ‘Campus Killer,’ as well as many other identities he adopted during his time evading law enforcement. This book will provide you with explicit details of his life and his killings. Murders, rapes, dismemberments, Bundy was a man who did it all, and we’ve researched it for your pleasure or disgust, depending on what you’re into. You see, we will not tone down the ugly parts nor cut out any of the gruesomeness that sensitive readers may have wished to avoid reading, so be warned…’
The synopsis of Ryan’s exploration into the life and crimes of Vermont born Ted Bundy is succinct and well scribed- ‘The most fearsome Serial Killer in U.S. history. A murderer’s tale is not always shrouded in darkness, trauma and failure to perform as a normal person. Some killers are just as successful in life as those around them or even more so. They are able to function as any regular human being and charm their communities and victims into believing that they are of a good, pure nature. Ted Bundy was a handsome, charming and ambitious man who carried his hatred deeper and more hidden than any other murderers do. He was able to lead a life that included normal friendships and relationships, and he even got far as both a student and a politician. But the hatred was there…it was always there…Bundy ended the lives of over thirty young women, ensuring that their final moments were ugly and violent. His torture methods were cruel, and there was no mercy shown to each female as he bludgeoned, strangled or cut them. Ted Bundy - The Campus Killer - a name of nightmares.!
Fine writing, expert investigation and documentation, and a pace that speeds the reader through this grotesque tale make this a book to recommend and an introduction to a solid writer. Incredible as it sounds, this book makes a fine if terrifying novel! And to add to the shivers, Ryan adds a Bonus Book of 12 other true crime stories at book’s end!

When you feel the last bit of breath leaving their body, you're looking into their eyes. A person in that situation is God!” TED BUNDY
Ted Bundy: The Horrific True Story behind America's Most Wicked Serial Killer (Real Crime by Real Killers Book 4) was a good true crime story by Ryan Becker. Ted Bundy seemed to be a good man on the outside, but he cattier a terrible hatred deep. He killed over thirty young women and tortured them. This was a good read for anyone who enjoys true crime stories. I can't wait to read more by Ryan Becker.
I was expecting some depth, psychology, thoughtful conclusions. Nope. I skipped a lot because the author is glib in lip service to how horrible the crimes are but actually seems to revel in it speaking in admiring terms about Bundy which made my skin crawl. Who would describe Bundy's murder history/case as "entrancing"? Wish I hadn't paid for this shallow and ghoulish book that attempts zero deeper study.
I was not impressed with this book. Ryan Becker might be a good researcher, but not a good author. The sentence fragments, run-on sentences and erroneous use of the semi-colon had me climbing the walls. He is overly-fond of the word, "heinous." Even though the crimes described in this book were truly vicious and horrific, Becker's dry writing style makes them sound like a movie description in TV Guide.
The author writes like a newspaper reporter, stating facts and reporting the basics of the Bunch murders. What the writer intends as insights into Bundy's psychological needs and emotional state are very naive!
It is most interested book to read. A man like Ted Bundy mind thinks as if he is normal but yet so evil. The way he got these women, kill and then have sex because he got off.
Simple, relatively short read on the sadistic life of this crazed serial killer. Not for the faint-hearted but the author doesn’t dwell too long on the gruesome details. If you ever thought of a person, “he's too nice, he’d never hurt a fly” read this book and you may wish to rethink!!
Very detailed and informative book about Ted Bundy with details I hadn't read about before. If you like true crime novels, this one is interesting and let's you see how the killer progresses over time.
A decent read but not a lot of new information on any of the cases. It does tell the story in an interesting way, however it is very similar to a lot of other books and just has the same information written with slight variations in wording.
I just finished the book and looking for more of Ryan Becker's work. Ted Bundy is a very popular killer but Ryan managed to make the story like I have read it for the first time. Two thumbs up!
I started reading horrific stories since I discovered this author. It was my first time reading about Ted and it was really a horrifying one, girls beware of the handsome guy.
